These cavities are based on the Nb/Cu technology. In time, two more cryomodules have been assembled, installed and commissioned on line, bringing the energy reach for the heaviest ions (A/q=4.5) up to 7.5 MeV/u. In 2017, while the first three cryomodules were prepared for the physics run, six more cavities were produced of which five will be installed in a fourth cryomodule. With this, the high beta section of the linac will be complete and the energy will reach 10 MeV/u for A/q=4.5. In this paper we review the experience and lessons learned during the construction of HIE-ISOLDE, along with some still open questions.

<dc:title xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xml:lang="fr"/> <dc:hasPart xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">['']</dc:hasPart> <dc:hasVersion xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"/>

PERLE - Lattice Design and Beam Dynamics Studies

PERLE (Powerful ERL for Experiments) is a novel ERL test facility, initially proposed to validate choices for a 60 GeV ERL foreseen in the design of the LHeC and the FCC-eh. Its main thrust is to probe high current, CW, multi-pass operation with superconducting cavities at 802 MHz (and perhaps testing other frequencies of interest). With very high virtual beam power (~ 10 MW), PERLE offers an opportunity for controllable study of every beam dynamic effect of interest in the next generation of ERL design; becoming a ‘stepping stone' between present state-of-art 1 MW ERLs and future 100 MW scale applications. PERLE design features Flexible Momentum Compaction lattice architecture for six vertically stacked return arcs and a high-current, 6 MeV, photo-injector. With only one pair of 4 cavity cryomodules, 400 MeV beam energy can be reached in 3 re-circulation passes, with beam currents in excess of 15 mA. The beam is decelerated in 3 consecutive passes back to the injection energy, transferring virtually stored energy back to the RF. This unique facility will serve as a test-bed for high current ERL technologies, as well as a user facility in low energy electron and photon physics.

<dc:title xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xml:lang="fr"/> <dc:hasPart xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">['']</dc:hasPart> <dc:hasVersion xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"/>

First RF Performance Results for the DQW Crab Cavities to be Tested in the CERN SPS

As part of the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project strategy, crab cavity correctors shall be installed around CMS and ATLAS experiments of the LHC. To accommodate the different crossing angle planes, two distinct cavity designs have been selected: the RF Dipole (RFD) and the Double Quarter Wave resonator (DQW). CERN has fabricated two double quarter wave resonators (DQW_{S}PS), for validation with a proton beam at the CERN SPS accelerator. Standard superconducting rf surface preparation protocols have been applied to the two bulk niobium cavities, followed by cryogenic testing in a vertical cryostat at CERN's SM18 facility. The performance results obtained after the first bare cavity tests for cavities DQW_{S}PS₀01 and DQW_{S}PS₀02 are shown in this paper, and include Q0 vs Vt curves, Lorentz Force Detuning (LFD) analyses and pressure sensitivity of a higher order mode.

<dc:title xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xml:lang="fr"/> <dc:hasPart xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">['']</dc:hasPart> <dc:hasVersion xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/"/>
