are in <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[a]</a></span>authority<MG5247>, so<MG2443> that<MG2443> we may lead<MG1236> a tranquil<MG2263> and quiet<MG2272> life<MG979> in all<MG3956> godliness<MG2150> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>dignity<MG4587>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>This<MG3778> is good<MG2570> and acceptable<MG587> in<MG1799> the<MG1799> sight<MG1799> of<MG1799> God<MG2316> our Savior<MG4990>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>who<MG3739> wants<MG2309> all<MG3956> people<MG444> to be there is one<MG1520> God<MG2316>, <i>and</i> one<MG1520> mediator<MG3316> also<MG2532> between God<MG2316> and mankind<MG444>, <i>the</i> man<MG444> Christ<MG5547> Jesus<MG2424>, <span teacher<MG1320> of the Gentiles<MG1484> in faith<MG4102> and truth<MG225>. <p class="hdg">Instructions for Believers</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Therefore<MG3767> I want<MG1014> the men<MG435> in every<MG3956> place<MG5117> to pray<MG4336>, lifting<MG1869> up<MG1869> holy<MG3741> hands<MG5495>, without<MG5565> anger<MG3709> and dispute<MG1261>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>Likewise<MG5615>, <i>I want</i> women<MG1135> to adorn<MG2885> themselves<MG1438> with proper<MG2887> clothing<MG2689>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>modestly<MG127> and discreetly<MG4997>, not with braided<MG4117> hair<MG4117> and gold<MG5553> or<MG2228> pearls<MG3135> or<MG2228> expensive<MG4185> apparel<MG2441>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>but rather<MG235> by means<MG1223> of good<MG18> works<MG2041>, as is proper<MG4241> for women<MG1135> making<MG1861> a claim<MG1861> to godliness<MG2317>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>A woman<MG1135> must quietly<MG2271> receive<MG3129> instruction<MG3129> with entire<MG3956> submissiveness<MG5292>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>But I do not allow<MG2010> a woman<MG1135> to teach<MG1321> or<MG3761> to exercise<MG831> authority<MG831> over<MG831> a man<MG435>, but to remain<MG1510> quiet<MG2271>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For <i>it was</i> Adam<MG76> <i>who</i> was first<MG4413> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>created<MG4111>, <i>and</i> then<MG1534> Eve<MG2096>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/1_timothy/2-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And <i>it was</i> not Adam<MG76> <i>who</i> was deceived<MG538>, but the woman<MG1135> was <span class="fn"><a
