The Functional Rating Index (FRI) is a self-report scale widely used to determine the level of disability in low back pain (LBP) populations. Objectives. This study was aimed at conducting the cross-cultural adaptation of the FRI-Arabic version (FRI-Ar) and testing the clinometric properties of FRI-Ar. Methods. The cross-cultural adaptation process was used to develop the FRI-Ar. This study included acute and subacute LBP patients. Each patient was asked to complete the questionnaires at three time points: baseline, 24-hour follow-up, and two-week follow-up. The questionnaires used were FRI-Ar, Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ), Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), Numerical Pain Rating Scale (NPRS), Global Perceived Effect Scale (GPE), and Patient-Specific Functional Scale (PSFS). Statistical analysis was carried out to measure the instrument’s reliability, validity, and responsiveness. Results. The questionnaire's validity and reliability were confirmed when it was implemented in patients with different cultural background. Since the JOABPEQ still has not been utilized in any of the Arabic countries, we present the Arabic version with its validity and reliability. Methods: After ensuring an optimal forwardebackward translation of the JOABPEQ, the Arabic version was distributed among 151 patients visiting our clinics from December 2015 to February 2016. The reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha. The convergent validity was assessed through aggregating and correlating the questionnaire's items with their previously designed and validated subscales described in the JOABPEQ validity study by Fukui et al. (four items for social function, seven for mental health, six for lumbar function, five for walking ability and four for low back pain); Spearman's correlation matrix was used. The correlation coefficient had to be greater than 0.40 for each item with its corresponding subscale to be satisfactory. Scores underwent descriptive analysis, and ManneWhitney u test was performed to compare between categorical subgroups. Results: 151 spine patients completed the questionnaire. The mean age (range) was 34.9 (10e72) years. The male respondents were 61 (40.4%) and the females were 90 (59.6%). The result of Cronbach's alpha for internal consistency (reliability) was 0.87 for the 25 items. The validity was confirmed since the correlation coefficient was greater than 0.4 for each item with only its relevant subscale. Conclusion: the Arabic version of the JOABPEQ is valid, reliable and feasible in assessing patients with spine disorders. We believe the JOABPEQ with its different versions are suitable questionnaires to be used across nations and can serve as a unified tool in conducting research and exchanging information in the future.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"The validity and reliability of the Arabic version of the Japanese Orthopedic Association Back Pain Evaluation Questionnaire: Can we implement it in Saudi Arabia?","attachmentId":96998300,"attachmentType":"pdf","work_url":"https://www.academia.edu/94581648/The_validity_and_reliability_of_the_Arabic_version_of_the_Japanese_Orthopedic_Association_Back_Pain_Evaluation_Questionnaire_Can_we_implement_it_in_Saudi_Arabia","alternativeTracking":true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/94581648/The_validity_and_reliability_of_the_Arabic_version_of_the_Japanese_Orthopedic_Association_Back_Pain_Evaluation_Questionnaire_Can_we_implement_it_in_Saudi_Arabia"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="3" data-entity-id="20184635" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/20184635/Translation_Adaptation_and_Reliability_of_Modern_Standard_Arabic_Version_of_the_Roland_Morris_Disability_Questionnaire">Translation Adaptation and Reliability of Modern Standard Arabic Version of the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="39019502" href="https://independent.academia.edu/HaniMalabbad">Hani M.alabbad</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">Purpose: To culturally translate and test the reliability and validity of the Modern Standard Arabic version of Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire (RMDQ) for chronic non-specific low back pain (LBP) in the Arabic-speaking population. Background: The RMDQ is a popular reliable and validated tool for measuring functional disability in low back pain. However, a reliable Modern Standard Arabic version is not available. Methods: The RMDQ Modern Standard Arabic translation and cross-cultural adaptation was performed using the “forward translation/backward translation” method. The final version was tested among Arabic-speaking chronic nonspecific LBP patients. The internal consistency was assessed by means of the Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. The convergent validity was assessed calculating Pearson’s correlation coefficient comparing the RMDQ’s results with the amount of pain that was assessed by the visual analogue scale (VAS), and the range of movement of the spine by fingertip-floor length test (FFL). Results: A total of 40 participants (mean age 44.4 years (SD: 12.51), 65% female) were enrolled in the study. Translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and psychometric testing. Objective. To translate the Back Beliefs Questionnaire (BBQ) into Arabic and investigate its psychometric properties in an Arabic-speaking sample of individuals with low back pain (LBP). Summary of Background Data. Back pain beliefs are associated with pain chronicity and disability in people with LBP. The BBQ is a recognized and frequently used tool for measuring these beliefs. To date the BBQ has not been translated into Arabic. Methods. The English version of the BBQ was translated and culturally adapted into Arabic (BBQ-Ar) according to published guidelines. The BBQ-Ar was then tested in a sample of 115 Arabic-speaking individuals with LBP. Reliability was evaluated through internal consistency (Cronbach a) and test-retest reliability (intraclass correlation coefficient), the latter in a subgroup of 25. Construct validity was assessed using exploratory factor analysis and by examining the correlation between the BBQ-Ar, the Oswestry Disability Index and a Numerical Pain Rating Scale. Results. Internal consistency of the BBQ-Ar was good (Cronbach a ¼ 0.77). Test-retest reliability was good (intraclass correlation coefficient [2,1] ¼ 0.88). Exploratory factor analysis revealed a three-factor structure, explaining 46% of total variance, with the first factor alone explaining 24%. Eight of the nine scoring items were loaded on the first factor thus forming a unidimensional scale. A significant negative correlation was found between Oswestry Disability Index and BBQ-Ar scores (r ¼ À0.307; P < 0.01), whereas no significant correlation was found between BBQ-Ar and Pain Rating Scale scores. No floor or celling effects were observed. Conclusion. The BBQ-Ar is a valid and reliable tool that can be used to assess back pain beliefs in Arabic-speaking individuals.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the Back Beliefs Questionnaire to the Arabic Language","attachmentId":76599470,"attachmentType":"pdf","work_url":"https://www.academia.edu/64670910/Cross_Cultural_Adaptation_and_Validation_of_the_Back_Beliefs_Questionnaire_to_the_Arabic_Language","alternativeTracking":true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/64670910/Cross_Cultural_Adaptation_and_Validation_of_the_Back_Beliefs_Questionnaire_to_the_Arabic_Language"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div><div class="ds-related-work--container js-wsj-grid-card" data-collection-position="7" data-entity-id="62227477" data-sort-order="default"><a class="ds-related-work--title js-wsj-grid-card-title ds2-5-body-md ds2-5-body-link" href="https://www.academia.edu/62227477/Psychometric_Properties_of_an_Arabic_Pain_Anxiety_Symptoms_Scale_20_PASS_20_in_Healthy_Volunteers_and_Patients_Attending_a_Physiotherapy_Clinic">Psychometric Properties of an Arabic Pain Anxiety Symptoms Scale-20 (PASS-20) in Healthy Volunteers and Patients Attending a Physiotherapy Clinic</a><div class="ds-related-work--metadata"><a class="js-wsj-grid-card-author ds2-5-body-sm ds2-5-body-link" data-author-id="113305493" href="https://leedsbeckett.academia.edu/OsamaTashani">Osama Tashani</a></div><p class="ds-related-work--metadata ds2-5-body-xs">International journal of behavioral medicine, 2016</p><p class="ds-related-work--abstract ds2-5-body-sm">The aim of this study was to cross-culturally adapt the PASS-20 questionnaire for use in Libya. The Gujarati translation of the Tampa scale of kinesiophobia (TSK) in patients with CLBP has never been validated in the native Gujarati population. PURPOSE: Translating, culturally adapting, and validating the Gujarati version of the TSK‑Gujarati (TSK‑G) to allow its use for Gujarati‑speaking patients with CLBP. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The development of the TSK‑G questionnaire involved its translation and backtranslation, a fnal review by an expert committee, and testing of the pre fnal version in establishing its correspondence to the original English version. The psychometric testing included reliability by internal consistency (Cronbach’s α), test‑retest reliability (intraclass coefficient correlation [ICC]), convergent and divergent validity (Pearson’s correlation) by comparing TSK‑G to a numerical pain rating scale, fear‑avoidance beliefs questionnaire (FABQ), the Roland Morris disability questionnaire (RMDQ), and patient health questionnaire‑9 (PHQ‑9); and factor analysis. RESULTS: Factor analysis indicated a 6‑factor 17‑item solution (64.07% of explained variance). The questionnaire showed satisfactory internal consistency (0.639) and moderate test‑retest reliability (ICC 0.696). Divergent validity showed low correlations with numerical pain rating scale (r = 0.044), the RMDQ‑G (r = 0.06), and PHQ‑9‑G (r = 0.269); but convergent validity showed highly signifcant correlation with FABQ‑G (r = 0.407, P = 0.001). CONCLUSION: The successful translation of TSK questionnaire into the Gujarati language shows good psychometric properties and factorial structure and approximates the results of the current English version of the TSK questionnaire.</p><div class="ds-related-work--ctas"><button class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"wsj-grid-card-download-pdf-modal","work_title":"Cross‑cultural adaptation, reliability, validity, and factor analysis of the Gujarati version of the Tampa scale of kinesiophobia in chronic low back pain","attachmentId":58164396,"attachmentType":"pdf","work_url":"https://www.academia.edu/38133865/Cross_cultural_adaptation_reliability_validity_and_factor_analysis_of_the_Gujarati_version_of_the_Tampa_scale_of_kinesiophobia_in_chronic_low_back_pain","alternativeTracking":true}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">download</span><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">Download free PDF</span></button><a class="ds2-5-text-link ds2-5-text-link--inline js-wsj-grid-card-view-pdf" href="https://www.academia.edu/38133865/Cross_cultural_adaptation_reliability_validity_and_factor_analysis_of_the_Gujarati_version_of_the_Tampa_scale_of_kinesiophobia_in_chronic_low_back_pain"><span class="ds2-5-text-link__content">View PDF</span><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 18px" translate="no">chevron_right</span></a></div></div></div></div><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--wrapper js-loswp-sticky-ctas hidden"><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--grid-container"><div class="ds-sticky-ctas--container"><button class="ds2-5-button js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"continue-reading-button--sticky-ctas","attachmentId":103169918,"attachmentType":"pdf","workUrl":null}">See full PDF</button><button class="ds2-5-button ds2-5-button--secondary js-swp-download-button" data-signup-modal="{"location":"download-pdf-button--sticky-ctas","attachmentId":103169918,"attachmentType":"pdf","workUrl":null}"><span class="material-symbols-outlined" style="font-size: 20px" translate="no">download</span>Download PDF</button></div></div></div><div class="ds-below-fold--grid-container"><div class="ds-work--container js-loswp-embedded-document"><div class="attachment_preview" data-attachment="Attachment_103169918" style="display: none"><div class="js-scribd-document-container"><div class="scribd--document-loading js-scribd-document-loader" style="display: block;"><img alt="Loading..." src="//a.academia-assets.com/images/loaders/paper-load.gif" /><p>Loading Preview</p></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><div class="scribd--no-preview-alert js-preview-unavailable"><p>Sorry, preview is currently unavailable.
