This is excellent news for users who are rocking older systems or have been without the TPM 2.0 module in their system but want to upgrade to the newer OS release. Microsoft opened an official support page, noting that &quot;Installing Windows 11 on a device that doesn't meet Windows 11 minimum system requirements isn't recommended. If Windows 11 is installed on ineligible hardware, you should be comfortable assuming the risk of running into compatibility issues. A device might malfunction due to these compatibility or other issues. Devices that don't meet these system requirements aren't guaranteed to receive updates, including but not limited to security updates.&quot;<br /> <br /> However, an interesting disclaimer appears once a user tries to install Windows 11 on a PC that doesn't meet minimum requirements:<blockquote><small>Microsoft</small>This PC doesn't meet the minimum system requirements for running Windows 11 - these requirements help ensure a more reliable and higher quality experience. Installing Windows 11 on this PC is not recommended and may result in compatibility issues. If you proceed with installing Windows 11, your PC will no longer be supported and won't be entitled to receive updates. Damages to your PC due to lack of compatibility aren't covered under the manufacturer warranty. By selecting Accept, you are acknowledging that you read and understand this statement.</blockquote><div class="imgcontainer"><a href="https://www.techpowerup.com/img/IVGdluq6YKPmGP7o.jpg" target="_blank" data-width="1440" data-height="960" data-fancybox="g329691"><img src="https://tpucdn.com/img/IVGdluq6YKPmGP7o_thm.jpg" width="195" height="130" alt="" /></a> </div>Why Microsoft decided to enable Windows 11 upgrade path for PCs, even with strict requirements and doubled-down takes that it won't allow non-compatible devices, remains a mystery. Perhaps the company wants to get as many users as possible on its newest platform and maintain a single codebase easier, or its AI PC project isn't getting enough new customers interested.</div> <small class="story-sources"> Source: <a href="https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/installing-windows-11-on-devices-that-don-t-meet-minimum-system-requirements-0b2dc4a2-5933-4ad4-9c09-ef0a331518f1#:~:text=Die%20Installation%20von%20Windows%2011,vertraut%20sein,%20dass%20Kompatibilit%C3%A4tsprobleme%20auftreten.&amp;xcust=2-3-2550265-1-0-0-0-0&amp;sref=https://www.pcworld.com/article/2550265/microsoft-now-allowing-windows-11-on-older-incompatible-pcs.html" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Microsoft</a> </small> <div id="comments" class="social-share"> <div class="facebook"> <a target="_blank" title="Share on Facebook" href="https://www.facebook.com/sharer/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techpowerup.com%2F329691%2Fmicrosoft-loosens-windows-11-install-requirements-tpm-2-0-not-needed-anymore" rel="nofollow" data-network="facebook"></a> </div> <div class="twitter"> <a target="_blank" title="Share on Twitter" href="https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Microsoft%20Loosens%20Windows%2011%20Install%20Requirements%2C%20TPM%202.0%20Not%20Needed%20Anymore%20http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techpowerup.com%2F329691%2Fmicrosoft-loosens-windows-11-install-requirements-tpm-2-0-not-needed-anymore%20via%20%40TechPowerUp" rel="nofollow" data-network="twitter"></a> </div> <div class="reddit"> <a target="_blank" title="Share on Reddit" href="https://www.reddit.com/submit?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techpowerup.com%2F329691%2Fmicrosoft-loosens-windows-11-install-requirements-tpm-2-0-not-needed-anymore&title=Microsoft%20Loosens%20Windows%2011%20Install%20Requirements%2C%20TPM%202.0%20Not%20Needed%20Anymore" rel="nofollow" data-network="reddit"></a> </div> <div class="mail"> <a title="Share via E-Mail" href="mailto:?subject=Microsoft%20Loosens%20Windows%2011%20Install%20Requirements%2C%20TPM%202.0%20Not%20Needed%20Anymore&body=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.techpowerup.com%2F329691%2Fmicrosoft-loosens-windows-11-install-requirements-tpm-2-0-not-needed-anymore%0D%0A%0D%0AMicrosoft%20has%20finally%20opened%20the%20iron%20gate%20guarding%20the%20Windows%2011%20upgrade%20for%20systems%20running%20incompatible%20hardware%2C%20including%20systems%20lacking%20TPM%202.0.%20This%20is%20excellent%20news%20for%20users%20who%20are%20rocking%20older%20systems%20or%20have%20been%20without%20the%20TPM%202.0%20module%20in%20their%20system%20but%20want%20to%20upgrade%20to..." rel="nofollow" data-network="email"></a> </div> <div class="whatsapp"> <a target="_blank" title="Share via WhatsApp" href="whatsapp://send?text=Microsoft%20Loosens%20Windows%2011%20Install%20Requirements%2C%20TPM%202.0%20Not%20Needed%20Anymore%0D%0A%0D%0Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.techpowerup.com%2F329691%2Fmicrosoft-loosens-windows-11-install-requirements-tpm-2-0-not-needed-anymore%0D%0A%0D%0AMicrosoft%20has%20finally%20opened%20the%20iron%20gate%20guarding%20the%20Windows%2011%20upgrade%20for%20systems%20running%20incompatible%20hardware%2C%20including%20systems%20lacking%20TPM%202.0.%20This%20is%20excellent%20news%20for%20users%20who%20are%20rocking%20older%20systems%20or%20have%20been%20without%20the%20TPM%202.0%20module%20in%20their%20system%20but%20want%20to%20upgrade%20to..." rel="nofollow" data-network="whatsapp"></a> </div> <script> loadjs.ready(['jquery'], function() { supported=((navigator.userAgent.match(/Android|iPhone/i) && !navigator.userAgent.match(/iPod|iPad/i)) ? true : false); if (supported) { $('.social-share div.mail').hide(); $('.social-share div.whatsapp').css('display', 'inline-block'); } $('.social-share div a').on('click', function(e) { var network = $(this).data('network'); if (typeof _gaq !== 'undefined') _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Social Share', 'share-'+network]); if ((network!='email') && (network!='whatsapp') && (network!='reddit')) { e.preventDefault(); var win=window.open(this.href,'','toolbar=0,status=0,width=650,height=450'); } }); }); </script> <script> loadjs.ready(['jquery'], function() { $('.social-share').on('click', 'a', function() { $.get('/news/share/329691'); }); }); </script> </div> <section class="related"> <div class="headingcontainer clearfix"> <h3>Related News</h3> <ul class="tags"> <li>Tags:</li> <li><a href="/news-tags/AI">AI</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/AI%20PC">AI PC</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/Microsoft">Microsoft</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/mystery">mystery</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/OS">OS</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/TPM">TPM</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/Window">Window</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/Windows">Windows</a></li> <li><a href="/news-tags/Windows%2011">Windows 11</a></li> </ul> </div> <ul class="links"> <li><span>Jul 8th 2024</span> <a href="/324171/amd-is-becoming-a-software-company-heres-the-plan">AMD is Becoming a Software Company.
