field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"><h5><strong>The Power of a RAP Award</strong><br /> </h5> <p>In Spring 2022, a <a href="https://rap.ucsf.edu/global-cancer-pilot-award">RAP Global Cancer Pilot grant</a> funded by the UCSF <a href="https://globalcancer.ucsf.edu/">Global Cancer Program</a> was awarded to PI Michael Potter, MD, and co-Investigators Priscilla Espinosa-Tamez, MD (UCSF) and Martin Lajous, PhD (INSP), for the proposed research titled, “Feasibility of colorectal cancer screening in an integrated healthcare system in Monterrey, Mexico.” This award provided Dr. Potter and his team the opportunity to develop partnerships with Mexico’s Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado de Baja California (ISSSTECALI).</p> <p><img alt="" height="285" src="/sites/g/files/tkssra4646/f/wysiwyg/potterRAP.jpg" style="float:right" width="465" /></p> <p>The data collected in this RAP grant informed a study in a larger NIH National Cancer Institute U54 grant application, which was recently awarded to the UCSF Global Cancer Program. The U54 “Leveraging Implementation Science to Optimize Strategies for Cancer Control (LISTOS)” project is a milestone $5 million award that will enable UCSF researchers, Drs. Potter and Espinosa-Tamez together with UT Health Houston, the Mexican National Institute of Public Health (INSP), the Mexican National Cancer Institute (INCan) partners to continue their LISTOS project research collaboration in Monterey, Mexico for the next 5 years.
