whole or part) in Operations Research (OR) for the problem contexts in Iranian organizations. So, we have attempted to identify some dimensions for problem context according to Iranian organizational problems. Then, a general morphological program is designed which helps the OR practitioner to determine the suitable OR methodology as output for any configuration of conditions in a problem context as input and to reveal the fields necessary to be improved in OR. Applying such a program would have interesting results for OR practitioners. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hard" title="hard">hard</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soft%20and%20emancipatory%20operations%20research" title=" soft and emancipatory operations research"> soft and emancipatory operations research</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=General%20Morphological%20Analysis%20%28GMA%29" title=" General Morphological Analysis (GMA)"> General Morphological Analysis (GMA)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-methodology" title=" multi-methodology"> multi-methodology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=problem%20context" title=" problem context"> problem context</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75075/developing-the-morphological-field-of-problem-context-to-assist-multi-methodology-in-operations-research" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75075.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">298</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8113</span> A Study on Spatial Morphological Cognitive Features of Lidukou Village Based on Space Syntax</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Man%20Guo">Man Guo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenyong%20Tan"> Wenyong Tan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> By combining spatial syntax with data obtained from field visits, this paper interprets the internal relationship between spatial morphology and spatial cognition in Lidukou Village. Regarding Sino-Korean prefixes, this study conducted an experiment on visual masked priming tasks with 57 ms stimulus-onset asynchrony (SOA) to see how individual differences in the amount of morphological knowledge affect morphological priming. The relationship between the prime and target words were classified as morphological (e.g., 미개척 migaecheog [unexplored] – 미해결 mihaegyel [unresolved]), semantical (e.g., 친환경 chinhwangyeong [eco-friendly]) – 무공해 mugonghae [no-pollution]), and orthographical (e.g., 미용실 miyongsil [beauty shop] – 미확보 mihwagbo [uncertainty]) conditions. We then compared the priming by configuring irrelevant paired stimuli for each condition’s control group. As a result, in the behavioral data, we observed facilitatory priming from a group with high morphological knowledge only under the morphological condition. In contrast, a group with low morphological knowledge showed the priming only under the orthographic condition. In the event-related potential (ERP) data, the group with high morphological knowledge presented the N250 only under the morphological condition. The findings of this study imply that individual differences in morphological knowledge in Korean may have a significant influence on the segmental processing of Korean word recognition. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ERP" title="ERP">ERP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=individual%20differences" title=" individual differences"> individual differences</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20priming" title=" morphological priming"> morphological priming</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sino-Korean%20prefixes" title=" sino-Korean prefixes "> sino-Korean prefixes </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130734/an-event-related-potential-study-of-individual-differences-in-word-recognition-the-evidence-from-morphological-knowledge-of-sino-korean-prefixes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/130734.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">213</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8111</span> An Approach for Reducing Morphological Operator Dataset and Recognize Optical Character Based on Significant Features</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashis%20Pradhan">Ashis Pradhan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohan%20P.%20Pradhan"> Mohan P. OCR is one such technique which reads character from a digital image and recognizes them. Line segmentation is initially used for identifying character in an image and later refined by morphological operations like binarization, erosion, thinning, etc. The work discusses a recognition technique that defines a set of morphological operators based on its orientation in a character. These operators are further categorized into groups having similar shape but different orientation for efficient utilization of memory. Finally the characters are recognized in accordance with the occurrence of frequency in hierarchy of significant pattern of those morphological operators and by comparing them with the existing database of each character. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binary%20image" title="binary image">binary image</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20patterns" title=" morphological patterns"> morphological patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=frequency%20count" title=" frequency count"> frequency count</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=priority" title=" priority"> priority</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reduction%20data%20set%20and%20recognition" title=" reduction data set and recognition"> reduction data set and recognition</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30867/an-approach-for-reducing-morphological-operator-dataset-and-recognize-optical-character-based-on-significant-features" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30867.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">413</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8110</span> The Morphological Processes of Bura Verbs</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yakubu%20Bitrus%20Gali">Yakubu Bitrus Gali</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Bura refers both to the kingdom, the people as well as to the language. It is a language spoken in North-Eastern Nigeria. It is also classified under the Chadic group of languages, subgroup of the Afro-Asiatic phylum. Three morphological processes were found to be operating in Bura language viz: affixation, reduplication and modification. Affixation could be prefixation, infixation and suffixation, while reduplication and modification are divided into complete and partial. Verbs as well, can be formed through various processes like affixation, reduplication and modification. The aim of this paper is to examine the morphological processes that are found in Bura language. In this study, research informants were selected by means of sampling technique. The study helps us to understand that Bura like other languages morphological processes of verbs is possible. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bura%20language" title="Bura language">Bura language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infixation" title=" infixation"> infixation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20processes" title=" morphological processes"> morphological processes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prefixation" title=" prefixation"> prefixation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suffixation" title=" suffixation"> suffixation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53707/the-morphological-processes-of-bura-verbs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/53707.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">524</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8109</span> Enhanced Analysis of Spatial Morphological Cognitive Traits in Lidukou Village through the Application of Space Syntax</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Man%20Guo">Man Guo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper delves into the intricate interplay between spatial morphology and spatial cognition in Lidukou Village, utilizing a combined approach of spatial syntax and field data. It is the field of the linguistics; it can provide valuable information for computer based linguistics task such as lemmatization and studies of internal structure of the words. Computational Morphology is the application of morphological rules in the field of computational linguistics, and it is the emerging area in AI, which studies the structure of words, which are formed by combining smaller units of linguistics information, called morphemes: the building blocks of words. Morphological analysis provides about semantic and syntactic role in a sentence. It analyzes the Manipuri word forms and produces several grammatical information associated with the words. The Morphological Analyzer for Manipuri has been tested on 3500 Manipuri words in Shakti Standard format (SSF) using Meitei Mayek as source; thereby an accuracy of 80% has been obtained on a manual check. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20analysis" title="morphological analysis">morphological analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20translation" title=" machine translation"> machine translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=computational%20morphology" title=" computational morphology"> computational morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20retrieval" title=" information retrieval"> information retrieval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SSF" title=" SSF"> SSF</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41686/morphological-analysis-of-manipuri-language-wahei-neinarol" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/41686.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">326</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8107</span> Morphological Processing of Punjabi Text for Sentiment Analysis of Farmer Suicides</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jaspreet%20Singh">Jaspreet Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gurvinder%20Singh"> Gurvinder Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prabhsimran%20Singh"> Prabhsimran Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajinder%20Singh"> Rajinder Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Prithvipal%20Singh"> Prithvipal Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karanjeet%20Singh%20Kahlon"> Karanjeet Singh Kahlon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ravinder%20Singh%20Sawhney"> Ravinder Singh Sawhney</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Morphological evaluation of Indian languages is one of the burgeoning fields in the area of Natural Language Processing (NLP). The evaluation of a language is an eminent task in the era of information retrieval and text mining. The extraction and classification of knowledge from text can be exploited for sentiment analysis and morphological evaluation. This study coalesce morphological evaluation and sentiment analysis for the task of classification of farmer suicide cases reported in Punjab state of India. The pre-processing of Punjabi text involves morphological evaluation and normalization of Punjabi word tokens followed by the training of proposed model using deep learning classification on Punjabi language text extracted from online Punjabi news reports. The class-wise accuracies of sentiment prediction for four negatively oriented classes of farmer suicide cases are 93.85%, 88.53%, 83.3%, and 95.45% respectively. The overall accuracy of sentiment classification obtained using proposed framework on 275 Punjabi text documents is found to be 90.29%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20neural%20network" title="deep neural network">deep neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=farmer%20suicides" title=" farmer suicides"> farmer suicides</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20processing" title=" morphological processing"> morphological processing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=punjabi%20text" title=" punjabi text"> punjabi text</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sentiment%20analysis" title=" sentiment analysis"> sentiment analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88605/morphological-processing-of-punjabi-text-for-sentiment-analysis-of-farmer-suicides" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88605.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">326</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8106</span> Morphological Rules of Bangla Repetition Words for UNL Based Machine Translation </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nawab%20Yousuf%20Ali">Nawab Yousuf Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20Golam"> S. Hit-or-Miss transform is a general binary morphological operation that can be used in searching of particular patterns of foreground and background pixels in an image. It is actually a basic operation of binary morphology since almost all other binary morphological operators are derived from it. The input of this method is a binary image and a structuring element (a template which will be searched in a binary image) while the output is another binary image. In this paper a modification of Hit-or-Miss transform has been proposed. The accuracy of algorithm is adjusted according to the similarity of the template and the sought template. The implementation of this method has been done by C language. The algorithm has been tested on several images and the results have shown that this new method can be used for similar shape detection. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hit-or-miss%20operator%20transform" title="hit-or-miss operator transform">hit-or-miss operator transform</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HMT" title=" HMT"> HMT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binary%20morphological%20operation" title=" binary morphological operation"> binary morphological operation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shape%20detection" title=" shape detection"> shape detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binary%20images%20processing" title=" binary images processing"> binary images processing</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11881/hit-or-miss-transform-as-a-tool-for-similar-shape-detection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/11881.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">331</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8103</span> Applications of the Morphological Variability in River Management: A Study of West Rapti River</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Partha%20Sarathi%20Mondal">Partha Sarathi Mondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Srabani%20Sanyal"> Srabani Sanyal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Different geomorphic agents produce a different landforms pattern. Similarly rivers also have a distinct and diverse landforms pattern. And even, within a river course different and distinct assemblage of landforms i.e. morphological variability are seen. These morphological variability are produced by different river processes. Channel and floodplain morphology helps to interpret river processes. Consequently morphological variability can be used as an important tool for assessing river processes, hydrological connectivity and river health, which will help us to draw inference about river processes and therefore, management of river health. The present study is documented on West Rapti river, a trans-boundary river flowing through Nepal and India, from its source to confluence with Ghaghra river in India. The river shows a significant morphological variability throughout its course. The present study tries to find out factors and processes responsible for the morphological variability of the river and in which way it can be applied in river management practices. For this purpose channel and floodplain morphology of West Rapti river was mapped as accurately as possible and then on the basis of process-form interactions, inferences are drawn to understand factors of morphological variability. The study shows that the valley setting of West Rapti river, in the Himalayan region, is confined and somewhere partly confined whereas, channel of the West Rapti river is single thread in most part of Himalayan region and braided in valley region. In the foothill region valley is unconfined and channel is braided, in middle part channel is meandering and valley is unconfined, whereas, channel is anthropogenically altered in the lower part of the course. Due to this the morphology of West Rapti river is highly diverse. These morphological variability are produced by different geomorphic processes. Therefore, for any river management it is essential to sustain these morphological variability so that the river could not cross the geomorphic threshold and environmental flow of the river along with the biodiversity of riparian region is maintained. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=channel%20morphology" title="channel morphology">channel morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20flow" title=" environmental flow"> environmental flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=floodplain%20morphology" title=" floodplain morphology"> floodplain morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geomorphic%20threshold" title=" geomorphic threshold"> geomorphic threshold</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60638/applications-of-the-morphological-variability-in-river-management-a-study-of-west-rapti-river" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/60638.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">373</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8102</span> Computer-Aided Detection of Liver and Spleen from CT Scans using Watershed Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Belgherbi%20Aicha">Belgherbi Aicha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bessaid%20Abdelhafid"> Bessaid Abdelhafid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the recent years a great deal of research work has been devoted to the development of semi-automatic and automatic techniques for the analysis of abdominal CT images. The first and fundamental step in all these studies is the semi-automatic liver and spleen segmentation that is still an open problem. In this paper, a semi-automatic liver and spleen segmentation method by the mathematical morphology based on watershed algorithm has been proposed. Our algorithm is currency in two parts. In the first, we seek to determine the region of interest by applying the morphological to extract the liver and spleen. The second step consists to improve the quality of the image gradient. In this step, we propose a method for improving the image gradient to reduce the over-segmentation problem by applying the spatial filters followed by the morphological filters. Thereafter we proceed to the segmentation of the liver, spleen. The aim of this work is to develop a method for semi-automatic segmentation liver and spleen based on watershed algorithm, improve the accuracy and the robustness of the liver and spleen segmentation and evaluate a new semi-automatic approach with the manual for liver segmentation. To validate the segmentation technique proposed, we have tested it on several images. Our segmentation approach is evaluated by comparing our results with the manual segmentation performed by an expert. The experimental results are described in the last part of this work. The system has been evaluated by computing the sensitivity and specificity between the semi-automatically segmented (liver and spleen) contour and the manually contour traced by radiological experts. Liver segmentation has achieved the sensitivity and specificity; sens Liver=96% and specif Liver=99% respectively. Spleen segmentation achieves similar, promising results sens Spleen=95% and specif Spleen=99%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CT%20images" title="CT images">CT images</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=liver%20and%20spleen%20segmentation" title=" liver and spleen segmentation"> liver and spleen segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anisotropic%20diffusion%20filter" title=" anisotropic diffusion filter"> anisotropic diffusion filter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20filters" title=" morphological filters"> morphological filters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=watershed%20algorithm" title=" watershed algorithm"> watershed algorithm</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7381/computer-aided-detection-of-liver-and-spleen-from-ct-scans-using-watershed-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7381.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">325</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8101</span> An Extraction of Cancer Region from MR Images Using Fuzzy Clustering Means and Morphological Operations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ramandeep%20Kaur">Ramandeep Kaur</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gurjit%20Singh%20Bhathal"> Gurjit Singh Bhathal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cancer diagnosis is very difficult task. Indeed, the understanding of the object of the study, its analysis, and the methodology of solving the morphological problem posed, are manageable aspects only by means of a thoughtful strategy that draws on well-defined epistemological scaffolding. In this stream, the crisis of natural reasoning in archaeology has generated multiple changes in this field, ranging from the use of new tools to the integration of an archaeological information system where urbanization involves the interplay of several disciplines. The built archaeological topic is also an architectural and morphological object. It is also a set of articulated elementary data, the understanding of which is about to be approached from a logicist point of view. Morphological restitution is no exception to the rule, and the inter-exchange between the different disciplines uses the capacity of each to frame the reflection on the incomplete elements of a given architecture or on its different phases and multiple states of existence. The logicist sequence is furnished by the set of scattered or destroyed elements found, but also by what can be called a rule base which contains the set of rules for the architectural construction of the object. The knowledge base built from the archaeological literature also provides a reference that enters into the game of searching for forms and articulations. The choice of the Roman Forum in North Africa is justified by the great urban and architectural characteristics of this entity. The research on the forum involves both a fairly large knowledge base but also provides the researcher with material to study - from a morphological and architectural point of view - starting from the scale of the city down to the architectural detail. The experimentation of the knowledge deduced on the paradigmatic level, as well as the deduction of an analysis model, is then carried out on the basis of a well-defined context which contextualises the experimentation from the elaboration of the morphological information container attached to the rule base and the knowledge base. The use of logicist analysis and artificial intelligence has allowed us to first question the aspects already known in order to measure the credibility of our system, which remains above all a decision support tool for the morphological restitution of Roman Fora in North Africa. This paper presents a first experimentation of the model elaborated during this research, a model framed by a paradigmatic discussion and thus trying to position the research in relation to the existing paradigmatic and experimental knowledge on the issue. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classical%20reasoning" title="classical reasoning">classical reasoning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=logicist%20reasoning" title=" logicist reasoning"> logicist reasoning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=archaeology" title=" archaeology"> archaeology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=architecture" title=" architecture"> architecture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=roman%20forum" title=" roman forum"> roman forum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology" title=" morphology"> morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=calculation" title=" calculation"> calculation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145348/the-roman-fora-in-north-africa-towards-a-supportive-protocol-to-the-decision-for-the-morphological-restitution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145348.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8099</span> Effect of Coal Fly Ash on Morphological and Biochemical Characteristics of Helianthus Annuus L. This research studies only the second of them; Therefore, we defined it as “The Voiceless Dental- alveolar common augment” (VDACA) to distinguish it from the glottal sound “Hamza”, first, middle, or last, in a noun or in a verb, in Arabic and its equivalent in the Semitic languages. What is meant by “VDACA” is the ta’ that is in addition to the root of the word at the morphological level: the word “voiceless” takes out the voiced sounds that we studied before, and the “dental- alveolar common augment” takes out the laryngeal sound of them, which is the “Hamza”: and the word “common” brings out the uncommon voiceless sounds, which are sīn, shīn, and hā’. The study is limited to the ta' alone among the Arabic sounds, and this title faced a problem in identifying it with the ta'. Because the designation of the ta is not the same in most Semitic languages. Hebrew, for example, has “tav” and is pronounced with the voiced fa (v), which is not in Arabic. It is called different names in other Semitic languages, such as “taw” or “tAu” in old Syriac. And so on. This goes hand in hand with the insistence on distance from the written level and the reference to the phonetic aspect in this study that is closely and closely linked to the morphological level. Therefore, the study is “morphophonemic”. What is meant by Semitic languages in this study are the following: Akkadian, Ugaritic, Hebrew, Syriac, Mandaean, Ge'ez, and Amharic. The problem of the study is the agreement or difference between these languages in the position of that augment, first, middle, or last. And in determining the distinguishing characteristics of each language from the other. As for the study methodology, it is determined by the comparative approach in Semitic languages, which is based on the descriptive approach for each language. The study is divided into an introduction, four sections, and a conclusion: Introduction: It included the subject of the study, its importance, motives, problem, methodology, and division. The first section: VDACA as a non-common phoneme. The second: VDACA as a common phoneme. The third: VDACA as a functional morpheme. The fourth section: Commentary and conclusion with the most important results. The positions of VDACA in Arabic and other Semitic languages, and in nouns and verbs, were limited to first, middle, and last. The research identified the individual addition, which is common with other augments, and the research proved that this augmentation is constant in all Semitic languages, but there are characteristics that distinguish each language from the other. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=voiceless%20-" title="voiceless -">voiceless -</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dental-%20alveolar" title=" dental- alveolar"> dental- alveolar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=augment" title=" augment"> augment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arabic%20-%20semitic%20languages" title=" Arabic - semitic languages"> Arabic - semitic languages</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173622/the-voiceless-dental-alveolar-common-augment-in-arabic-and-other-semitic-languages-a-morphophonemic-comparison" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/173622.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">73</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8097</span> Distinguishing Borrowings from Code Mixes: An Analysis of English Lexical Items Used in the Print Media in Sri Lanka</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chamindi%20Dilkushi%20Senaratne">Chamindi Dilkushi Senaratne</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Borrowing is the morphological, syntactic and (usually) phonological integration of lexical items from one language into the structure of another language. Borrowings show complete linguistic integration and due to the frequency of use become fossilized in the recipient language differentiating them from switches and mixes. Code mixes are different to borrowings. Code mixing takes place when speakers use lexical items in casual conversation to serve a variety of functions. This study presents an analysis of lexical items used in English newspapers in Sri Lanka in 2017 which reveal characteristics of borrowing or code mixes. Both phenomena arise due to language contact. The study will also use data from social media websites that comment on newspaper articles available on the web. The study reiterates that borrowings are distinguishable from code mixes and that they are two different phenomena that occur in language contact situations. The study also shows how existing morphological processes are used to create new vocabulary in language use. The study sheds light into how existing morphological processes are used by the bilingual to be creative, innovative and convey a bilingual identity. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=borrowing" title="borrowing">borrowing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=code%20mixing" title=" code mixing"> code mixing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20processes" title=" morphological processes"> morphological processes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67145/distinguishing-borrowings-from-code-mixes-an-analysis-of-english-lexical-items-used-in-the-print-media-in-sri-lanka" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/67145.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">219</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8096</span> A Morphological Examination of Urban Renewal Processes: The Sample of Konya City</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muzaffer%20Ali%20Yayg%C4%B1n">Muzaffer Ali Yaygın</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20Top%C3%A7u"> Mehmet Topçu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research aims to investigate morphological changes in urban patterns in urban renewal areas by using geographic information systems and to reveal pattern differences that occur before and after urban renewal processes by applying a morphological analysis. The concept of urban morphology is not involved in urban renewal and urban planning practices in Turkey. This situation destroys the structural characteristic of urban space which appears as a consequence of changes at city, street or plot level. Different approaches and renewal interventions to urban settlements, which are formed as a reflection of cultural issues, may have positive and negative results. A morphological analysis has been applied to an urban renewal area that covers 325 ha. in Konya, in which city urban renewal projects have gained speed with the increasing of economic investments in this study. The study mentions urban renewal and urban morphology relationship, varied academic approach on the urban morphology issue, urban morphology components, changes in lots pattern and numerical differences that occur on road, construction and green space ratios that are before and after the renewal project, and the results of the morphological analysis. It is seen that the built-up area has significant differences when compared to the previous situation. The amount of green areas decreased significantly in quantitative terms; the transportation systems has been changed completely; and the property ownership has been reconstructed without taking the previous situation into account. Findings show that urban renewal projects in Turkey are put into practice with a rent-oriented approach without making an in-depth analysis. The paper discusses the morphological dimension of urban renewal projects in Turkey through a case study from Konya city. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Konya" title="Konya">Konya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pattern" title=" pattern"> pattern</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20morphology" title=" urban morphology"> urban morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20renewal" title=" urban renewal"> urban renewal</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48302/a-morphological-examination-of-urban-renewal-processes-the-sample-of-konya-city" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/48302.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">369</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8095</span> Gender Differences in Morphological Predictors of Running Ability: A Comprehensive Analysis of Male and Female Athletes in Cape Coast Metropolis, Ghana</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Stephen%20Anim">Stephen Anim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emmanuel%20O.%20Sarpong"> Emmanuel O. The dynamic interplay between an athlete's physique and their performance capabilities holds particular relevance in the realm of sports science, influencing training methodologies and talent identification processes. The research aims to contribute comprehensive insights into the morphological determinants of running proficiency, with a specific focus on the local athletic community in Cape Coast Metropolis. Utilizing a correlational research design, a thorough analysis of morphological features, encompassing 22 morphological features including body weight, 6 measurements related to body length, 7 body girth, and knee diameter, and 7 skinfold measurements against 50m dash, among male and female athletes, was conducted. The study involved 420 athletes both male (N=210) and female (N=210) aged 16-22 from 10 Senior High Schools (SHS) in the Cape Coast Metropolis, providing a representative sample of the local athletic community. The collected data were statistically analysed using means and standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression to determine how morphological variables contribute to and predict running proficiency outcomes. The investigation revealed that athletes from Senior High Schools (SHS) in Cape Coast Metropolis (CCM) exhibit well-developed physiques and sufficient fitness levels suitable for overall athletic performance, taking into account gender differences. Moreover, the findings suggested that approximately 77% of running ability could be attributed to morphological factors, leading to diverse predictive models for male and female athletes within SHS in CCM, Ghana. Consequently, these formulated equations hold promise for predicting running ability among young athletes, particularly in the context of SHS environments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=body%20fat" title="body fat">body fat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=body%20girth" title=" body girth"> body girth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=body%20length" title=" body length"> body length</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20features" title=" morphological features"> morphological features</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=running%20ability" title=" running ability"> running ability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=senior%20high%20school" title=" senior high school"> senior high school</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181627/gender-differences-in-morphological-predictors-of-running-ability-a-comprehensive-analysis-of-male-and-female-athletes-in-cape-coast-metropolis-ghana" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/181627.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">67</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8094</span> Urban Intensification and the Character of Urban Landscape: A Morphological Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xindong%20An">Xindong An</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kai%20Gu"> Kai Gu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Urban intensification is regarded as the prevalent strategy in many cities of the world to ease the pressures of urban sprawl and deliver sustainable development through increasing the density of built form and activities. However, within the context of intensive development, planning and design control measures that help to maintain and promote the character of existing residential environments have been slow to develop. This causes the possible loss of the character of an area that makes a place unique and distinctive. The purpose of this paper is to explore the way of identifying the character of an urban area for the planning of urban landscape in the implementation of intensification. By employing the theory of urban morphology, the concept of morphological region is used for the analysis and characterisation of the spatial structure of the urban landscape in terms of ground plans, building types, and building and land utilisation. The morphological mapping of the character of urban landscape is suggested, which lays a foundation for more sensitive planning of urban landscape changes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=character%20areas" title="character areas">character areas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20intensification" title=" urban intensification"> urban intensification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20morphology" title=" urban morphology"> urban morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20landscape" title=" urban landscape"> urban landscape</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94449/urban-intensification-and-the-character-of-urban-landscape-a-morphological-perspective" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94449.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8093</span> Assessment of Relationships between Agro-Morphological Traits and Cold Tolerance in Faba Bean (vicia faba l.) and Wild Relatives</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nisa%20Ertoy%20Inci">Nisa Ertoy Inci</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cengiz%20Toker"> Cengiz Toker</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Winter or autumn-sown faba bean (Vicia faba L.) is one the most efficient ways to overcome drought since faba bean is usually grown under rainfed where drought and high-temperature stresses are the main growth constraints. The objectives of this study were assessment of (i) relationships between cold tolerance and agro-morphological traits, and (ii) the most suitable agro-morphological trait(s) under cold conditions. Three species of the genus Vicia L. includes 109 genotypes of faba bean (Vicia faba L.), three genotypes of narbon bean (V. narbonensis L.) and two genotypes of V. montbretii Fisch. & C.A. Mey. Davis and Plitmann were sown in autumn at highland of Mediterranean region of Turkey. All relatives of faba bean were more cold-tolerant than the faba bean genotypes. Three faba bean genotypes, ACV-42, ACV-84 and ACV-88, were selected as sources of cold tolerance under field conditions. Path and correlation coefficients and factor and principal component analyses indicated that biological yield should be evaluated in selection for cold tolerance under cold conditions ahead of many agro-morphological traits. The seed weight should be considered for selection in early breeding generations because they had the highest heritability. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cold%20tolerance" title="cold tolerance">cold tolerance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=faba%20bean" title=" faba bean"> faba bean</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=narbon%20bean" title=" narbon bean"> narbon bean</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=selection" title=" selection"> selection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28943/assessment-of-relationships-between-agro-morphological-traits-and-cold-tolerance-in-faba-bean-vicia-faba-l-and-wild-relatives" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/28943.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">398</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8092</span> Morphological Characteristics and Pollination Requirement in Red Pitaya (Hylocereus Spp.)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dinh%20Ha">Dinh Ha</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tran"> Tran</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chung-Ruey%20Yen"> Chung-Ruey Yen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study explored the morphological characteristics and effects of pollination methods on fruit set and characteristics in four red pitaya (Hylocereus spp.) clones. The distinctive morphological recognition and classification among pitaya clones were confirmed by the stem, flower and fruit features. The fruit production season was indicated from the beginning of May to the end of August, the beginning of September with 6-7 flowering cycles per year. The floral stage took from 15-19 days and fruit duration spent 30–32 days. VN White, fully self-compatible, obtained high fruit set rates (80.0-90.5 %) in all pollination treatments and the maximum fruit weight (402.6 g) in hand self- and (403.4 g) in open-pollination. Chaozhou 5 was partially self-compatible while Orejona and F11 were completely self-incompatible. Hand cross-pollination increased significantly fruit set (95.8; 88.4 and 90.2 %) and fruit weight (374.2; 281.8 and 416.3 g) in Chaozhou 5, Orejona, and F11, respectively. The study was conducted using histo-morphometric techniques to analyze the morphological features of the mesenteric lymph node of the one-humped camel (Camelus dromedarius) in the region of El Oued. Two groups of dromedaries were used in the study, one group raised in a free-roaming housing system and another group raised in a restricted-roaming housing system. The results revealed that there were significant differences between the two groups in terms of active follicle ratio and size and also the cellular population of functional zones. Animals living and roaming outside the farm barriers were more exposed to pathogens, which leads to the installation of an adaptative process, whereas the animals living under restricted-roaming housing system were not exposed to pathogens. This study indicated that the adaptative behavior of the animal’s immune system with environmental variations is the functional translation of morphological changes. The obtained findings revealed that the morphological features of the mesenteric lymph node of the one-humped camel (Camelus dromedarius) in the region of El Oued are directly linked to the rearing system practices <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adaptative%20behavior" title="adaptative behavior">adaptative behavior</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dromedary" title=" dromedary"> dromedary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lymph%20node" title=" lymph node"> lymph node</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology" title=" morphology"> morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rearing%20systems" title=" rearing systems"> rearing systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/190128/morphological-variation-of-the-mesenteric-lymph-node-in-dromedary-camels-the-impact-of-rearing-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/190128.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">22</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8090</span> Morphological Evaluation of Mesenchymal Stem Cells Derived from Adipose Tissue of Dog Treated with Different Concentrations of Nano-Hydroxy Apatite</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20Barbaro">K. The experiment included two factors: first, biological phosphate fertilizer (fertile 2) at three levels of 0, 100, 200 g/ha; second, triple super phosphate chemical fertilizer at three levels of 0, 60, 90 kg/ha of pure phosphorus (P2O5). The obtained results indicated that fertilizer treatments had a significant effect on some morphological traits at 1% probability level. In this regard, P2B2 treatment (100 g/ha biological phosphate fertilizer (fertile 2) and 60 kg/ha triple super phosphate fertilizer) had the greatest plan height, stem diameter, number of leaves and ear length. It seems that in Ahvaz weather conditions, decrease of consumption of triple superphosphate chemical fertilizer to less than a half along with the consumption of biological phosphate fertilizer (fertile 2) is highly important in order to achieve optimal results. Therefore, it can be concluded that biological fertilizers can be used as a suitable substitute for some of the chemical fertilizers in sustainable agricultural systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biological%20phosphate%20fertilizer%20%28fertile%202%29" title="biological phosphate fertilizer (fertile 2)">biological phosphate fertilizer (fertile 2)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=triple%20super%20phosphate" title=" triple super phosphate"> triple super phosphate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corn" title=" corn"> corn</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20traits" title=" morphological traits"> morphological traits</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31865/the-effect-of-application-of-biological-phosphate-fertilizer-fertile-2-and-triple-super-phosphate-chemical-fertilizers-on-some-morphological-traits-of-corn-sc704" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31865.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">442</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8088</span> Descriptive Analysis of Variations in Maguindanaon Language</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fhajema%20Kunso">Fhajema Kunso</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> People who live in the same region and who seemed to speak the same language still vary in some aspects of their language. The variation may occur in terms of pronunciation, lexicon, morphology, and syntax. This qualitative study described the phonological, morphological, and lexical variations of the Maguindanaon language among the ten Maguindanao municipalities. Purposive sampling, in-depth interviews, focus group discussion, and sorting and classifying of words according to phonological and morphological as well as lexical structures in data analysis were employed. The variations occurred through phonemic changes and other phonological processes and morphological processes. Phonological processes consisted of vowel lengthening and deletion while morphological processes included affixation, borrowing, and coinage. In the phonological variation, it was observed that there were phonemic changes in one dialect to another. For example, there was a change of phoneme /r/ to /l/. The phoneme /r/ was most likely to occur in Kabuntalan like /biru/, /kurIt/, and /kɘmɅr/ whereas in the rest of the dialects these were /bilu/, /kuIɪt/, and /kɘmɅl/ respectively. Morphologically, the affixation was the main way to know the tenses. For example, the root sarig (expect) when inserted with im becomes simarig, i.e. s + im + arig = simarig (expected). Lexical variation also existed in the Maguindanaon language. Results revealed that the variation in phonology, morphology, and lexicon were observed to be associated primarily on geographic distribution. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=applied%20linguistics" title="applied linguistics">applied linguistics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language" title=" language"> language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lexicon" title=" lexicon"> lexicon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maguindanao" title=" Maguindanao"> Maguindanao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphology" title=" morphology"> morphology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Philippines" title=" Philippines"> Philippines</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phonology" title=" phonology"> phonology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=processes" title=" processes"> processes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=qualitative" title=" qualitative"> qualitative</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variation" title=" variation"> variation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76362/descriptive-analysis-of-variations-in-maguindanaon-language" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76362.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8087</span> A Morphological Analysis of Swardspeak in the Philippines </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Carlo%20Gadingan">Carlo Gadingan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Swardspeak, as a language, highlights the exclusive identity of the Filipino gay men and the oppression they are confronted in the society. This paper presents a morphological analysis of swardspeak in the Philippines. Specifically, it aims to find out the common morphological processes involved in the construction of codes that may unmask the nature of swardspeak as a language. 30 purposively selected expert users of swardspeak from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were asked to codify 30 natural words through the Facebook Messenger application. The results of the structural analysis affirm that swardspeak follows no specific rules revealing complicated combinations of clipping/stylized clipping, borrowing, connotation through images, connotation through actions, connotation through sounds, affixation, repetition, substitution, and simple reversal. Moreover, it was also found out that most of these word formation processes occur in all word classes which indicate that swardspeak is very unpredictable. Although different codes are used for the same words, there are still codes that are really common to all homosexuals and these are Chaka (ugly), Crayola (cry), and Aida (referring to a person with AIDS). Hence, the prevailing word formation processes explored may be termed as observed time-specific patterns because the codes documented in this study may turn obsolete and may be replaced with novel ones in a matter of weeks to month, knowing the creativity of homosexuals and the multiplicity of societal resources which can be used to make the codes more opaque and more confusing for non-homosexuals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=codes" title="codes">codes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=homosexuals" title=" homosexuals"> homosexuals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=morphological%20processes" title=" morphological processes"> morphological processes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=swardspeak" title=" swardspeak"> swardspeak</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92706/a-morphological-analysis-of-swardspeak-in-the-philippines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92706.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8086</span> Morphological Features Fusion for Identifying INBREAST-Database Masses Using Neural Networks and Support Vector Machines </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nadia%20el%20Atlas">Nadia el Atlas</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammed%20el%20Aroussi"> Mohammed el Aroussi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammed%20Wahbi"> Mohammed Wahbi </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper a novel technique of mass characterization based on robust features-fusion is presented. The proposed method consists of mainly four stages: (a) the first phase involves segmenting the masses using edge information’s. (b) The second phase is to calculate and fuse the most relevant morphological features. (c) The last phase is the classification step which allows us to classify the images into benign and malignant masses. In this step we have implemented Support Vectors Machines (SVM) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), which were evaluated with the following performance criteria: confusion matrix, accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, receiver operating characteristic ROC, and error histogram. The effectiveness of this new approach was evaluated by a recently developed database: INBREAST database. The fusion of the most appropriate morphological features provided very good results. The SVM gives accuracy to within 64.3%. Whereas the ANN classifier gives better results with an accuracy of 97.5%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breast%20cancer" title="breast cancer">breast cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mammography" title=" mammography"> mammography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CAD%20system" title=" CAD system"> CAD system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=features" title=" features"> features</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fusion" title=" fusion"> fusion</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22407/morphological-features-fusion-for-identifying-inbreast-database-masses-using-neural-networks-and-support-vector-machines" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22407.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">599</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8085</span> Morphological Properties in Ndre Mjeda's Works</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shyhrete%20Morina">Shyhrete Morina</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper deals with morphological features in Mjeda's works. To make such a distinction, these features will be compared to standard Albanian language, considering the linguistic structure in the morphological field, which represent an all-important segment of Albanian language. Therefore, the study will focus mainly on the description and construction of these paradigms, which will give a linguistic insight into the entire work of Mjeda as the author who wrote in the dialect of northwestern Geg. Therefore, we have tried to distinguish different parts of the author's language, as well as the distinctive features or even the similarities of these paradigms that arise in the literary work of Mjeda. By constructing the corpus of this phonetic and grammar segment from the whole of Mjeda's work, we have seen that in these fields has built a variety of grammar structures, which for the history of Albanian are of special importance, that in the full variant of the work, as far as we can investigate, we will point out in all the distinctive features. Therefore, our study aims to highlight the linguistic features, namely the author's deep knowledge toward the language, the authenticity of its use, and its mutual relationship with it. <p
