Most blogs in this network are written by independent scientist-writers; two—<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120202101910/http://blogs.agu.org/geospace" target="_blank">GeoSpace</a> and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120202101910/http://blogs.agu.org/sciencecommunication" target="_blank">The Plainspoken Scientist</a>—are written by AGU staff (with occasional help from collaborators and guest bloggers).</p> <p>Bloggers contribute to this network for many reasons, but we all share the desire to write, to disseminate accurate information, and to enjoy discussing exciting science. With our postings we aim to reach our fellow scientists and the broader public, without regard for national boundaries, and to stimulate lively, open discussion by means of our blogs’ comments fields.</p> <p>Why does AGU host this blogger community? One reason is to provide a go-to location on the Web for timely, interactive, and regularly occurring exchanges of knowledge and ideas regarding the Earth and space sciences that <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120202101910/http://www.agu.org/about/governance/section_fg/" target="_blank">AGU represents</a>.
