href="http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/default.htm" target="_blank">The BC Cancer</a>, an agency of the Provincial Health Services Authority, provides a province-wide, population-based cancer control program for residents of British Columbia and the Yukon. This oversight includes provincial standards for prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, and palliative cancer care.</p> <p>Recognized around the world for excellence, the BC Cancer has some of the best cancer outcomes in Canada, as well as some of the world’s leading researchers.</p> <p>The BC Cancer is committed to providing all patients in British Columbia with access to a full range of quality cancer services. This range of services includes six regional cancer centres throughout the province, as well as community cancer clinics and a network of oncology professionals, to ensure that the same high standards of cancer care and treatment are provided to patients across the province.</p> <p>Through the use of teamwork, collaboration, research, evidence-based protocols and person-centered care, the BC Cancer continues to make progress towards its mission to reduce the incidence and mortality of cancer, as well as improve the quality of life of those living with cancer.</p> <p>Treatment and patient care are funded through the provincial government, while funds for research largely flow through the BC Cancer Foundation, an independent charitable organization that fundraises exclusively for the BC Cancer.</p> <a class="back-top" href="#panel-1">top</a><div class="panel-pager bottom"></div> </div> </div> <div id="panel-2" class="field_panels field-item odd"><div class="inner"> <div class="panel-pager top"></div> <h2>VCHRI</h2> <p><a href="http://www.vchri.ca" target="_blank">Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute</a> (VCHRI), a world leader in translational health research, is the research body of <a href="http://www.vch.ca" target="_blank">Vancouver Coastal Health Authority</a>. VCHRI includes three of BC’s largest academic and teaching health sciences centres – Vancouver General Hospital, UBC Hospital, and GF Strong Rehabilitation Centre – as well as other hospitals and public health agencies across Vancouver Coastal Health. The Institute is academically affiliated with UBC Faculty of Medicine and is one of Canada’s top funded research centres receiving between $80-100 million in research funding on an annual basis. It provides innovative educational and research programs in the areas of health and life sciences through an integrated and province-wide delivery model.
