Those whom God called by name to his service, he filled with the Spirit of God. Skill, even in worldly employments, is God's gift, and comes from above. But many are ready enough in cutting out work for other people, and can tell what this man or that man should do; but the burdens they bind on others, they themselves will not touch with one of their fingers. Such will fall under the character of slothful servants. These men were not only to devise and to work themselves, but they were to teach others. Those that rule should teach; and those to whom God has given knowledge, should be willing to make it known for the benefit of others.<a name="bar" id="bar"></a><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/barnes/exodus/35.htm">Barnes' Notes on the Bible</a></div>The precious stones <a href="/exodus/28-9.htm">Exodus 28:9</a> and spices were contributed by the rulers, who were more wealthy than the other Israelites. <a name="jfb" id="jfb"></a><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/jfb/exodus/35.htm">Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary</a></div>30. Though, in some real sense, "learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians," still Moses was probably devoid of the technical knowledge requisite for a "superintendent of the works" on the present occasion. At any rate, his other duties imperatively required that he should decline to undertake, in addition to them, so onerous an office. And God had told him whom it would be best for him to set over the work (<a href="/exodus/31-1.htm">Exodus 31:1-6</a>). Accordingly, he now made known to the people that the construction of the tabernacle and its appurtenances would be committed to two men - Bezaleel, the son of Uri, as principal, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, as his assist-ant - who would "teach" those under them what they were to do (ver. 34). <span class="cmt_sub_title">Verse 30.</span> - <span class="cmt_word">The Lord hath called</span>, etc See <a href="/exodus/31-2.htm">Exodus 31:2</a>: - "I have called by name Bezaleel," etc. <span class="cmt_word">Of the tribe of Judah</span>. The descent of Bezaleel from Judah has been already traced. (See the comment on Exodus 31:2.) Exodus 35:30<a name="kad" id="kad"></a><div class="vheading2"><a href="/commentaries/kad/exodus/35.htm">Keil and Delitzsch Biblical Commentary on the Old Testament</a></div>Moses then informed the people that God had called Bezaleel and Aholiab as master-builders, to complete the building and all the work connected with it, and had not only endowed them with His Spirit, that they might draw the plans for the different works and carry them out, but "had put it into his (Bezaleel's) heart to teach" (<a href="/exodus/35-34.htm">Exodus 35:34</a>), that is to say, had qualified him to instruct labourers to prepare the different articles under his supervision and guidance. "He and Aholiab" (<a href="/exodus/35-34.htm">Exodus 35:34</a>) are in apposition to "his heart:" into his and Aholiab's heart (see Ges. 121, 3; Ewald, 311 a). The concluding words in <a href="/exodus/35-35.htm">Exodus 35:35</a> are in apposition to &#1488;&#1514;&#1501; (them): "them hath He filled with wisdom...as performers of every kind of work and inventors of designs," i.e., that they may make every kind of work and may invent designs. In <a href="http://biblehub.com/exodus/36-1.htm">Exodus 36:1</a>, &#1493;&#1506;&#1513;&#1474;&#1492; with vav consec. is dependent upon what precedes, and signifies either, "and so will make," or, so that he will make (see Ewald, 342 b). The idea is this, "Bezaleel, Aholiab, and the other men who understand, into whom Jehovah has infused (&#1489;&#1468; &#1504;&#1514;&#1503;) wisdom and understanding, that they may know how to do, shall do every work for the holy service (worship) with regard to (&#1500; as in <a href="http://biblehub.com/exodus/28-38.htm">Exodus 28:38</a>, etc.) all that Jehovah has commanded." <div class="vheading2">Links</div><a href="/interlinear/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Interlinear</a><br /><a href="/texts/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Parallel Texts</a><br /><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/niv/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 NIV</a><br /><a href="/nlt/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 NLT</a><br /><a href="/esv/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 ESV</a><br /><a href="/nasb/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 NASB</a><br /><a href="/kjv/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 KJV</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="http://bibleapps.com/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Bible Apps</a><br /><a href="/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Parallel</a><br /><a href="http://bibliaparalela.com/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Biblia Paralela</a><br /><a href="http://holybible.com.cn/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 Chinese Bible</a><br /><a href="http://saintebible.com/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 French Bible</a><br /><a href="http://bibeltext.com/exodus/35-30.htm">Exodus 35:30 German Bible</a><span class="p"><br /><br /></span><a href="/">Bible Hub</a><br /></div></div></td></tr></table></div><div id="mdd"><div align="center"><div class="bot2"><table align="center" width="100%"><tr><td align="center"><div align="center"> <script id="3d27ed63fc4348d5b062c4527ae09445"> (new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=51ce25d5-1a8c-424a-8695-4bd48c750f35&cid=3a9f82d0-4344-4f8d-ac0c-e1a0eb43a405'; </script> <script id="b817b7107f1d4a7997da1b3c33457e03"> (new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=cb0edd8b-b416-47eb-8c6d-3cc96561f7e8&cid=3a9f82d0-4344-4f8d-ac0c-e1a0eb43a405'; </script><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-ATF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-2'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-300x250-ATF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-0' style='max-width: 300px;'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-BTF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-3'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-300x250-BTF --> <div id='div-gpt-ad-1529103594582-1' style='max-width: 300px;'> </div><br /><br /> <!-- /1078254/BH-728x90-BTF2 --> <div align="center" id='div-gpt-ad-1531425649696-0'> </div><br /><br /> <ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:inline-block;width:200px;height:200px" data-ad-client="ca-pub-3753401421161123" data-ad-slot="3592799687"></ins> <script> (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}); </script><br /><br /> </div> <div id="left"><a href="../exodus/35-29.htm" onmouseover='lft.src="/leftgif.png"' onmouseout='lft.src="/left.png"' title="Exodus 35:29"><img src="/left.png" name="lft" border="0" alt="Exodus 35:29" /></a></div><div id="right"><a href="../exodus/35-31.htm" onmouseover='rght.src="/rightgif.png"' onmouseout='rght.src="/right.png"' title="Exodus 35:31"><img src="/right.png" name="rght" border="0" alt="Exodus 35:31" /></a></div><div id="botleft"><a href="#" onmouseover='botleft.src="/botleftgif.png"' onmouseout='botleft.src="/botleft.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botleft.png" name="botleft" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div><div id="botright"><a href="#" onmouseover='botright.src="/botrightgif.png"' onmouseout='botright.src="/botright.png"' title="Top of Page"><img src="/botright.png" name="botright" border="0" alt="Top of Page" /></a></div> <div id="bot"><iframe width="100%" height="1500" scrolling="no" src="/botmenubhnew2.htm" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></td></tr></table></div></body></html>
