It follows a long tradition established by Paul-Andr茅 Meyer since 1967 and has been one of the supports of the development of the French school of probabilities (for more information, see this historical account).

The S茅minaire de Probabilit茅s accepts articles in Probability and Statistics but is also devoted to specialized courses and to notes or survey articles. Articles giving a new insight on the theory or an overview may also be accepted. Its editorial line has been presented in Volume 40:

In a changing world where the status of paper and ink is questioned and where, alas, pressure for publishing is increasing, in particular among young mathematicians, we shall try and keep the same direction. Although most contributions are anonymously refereed, the S茅minaire is not a mathematical journal; our first criterion is not mathematical depth, but usefulness to the French and international probabilistic community. We do not insist that everything published in these volumes should have reached its final form or be original, and acceptance鈥搑ejection may not be decided on purely scientific grounds. The policy set forth in volume XIII still prevails: ''laisser une place aux d茅butants 脿 c么t茅 des math茅maticiens d茅j脿 connus, publier des articles de mise au point 脿 c么t茅 des travaux originaux, et m锚me, de temps en temps, publier un article int茅ressant, mais faux.'' But the S茅minaire is not gray literature either.

From Volume 43, the S茅minaire de Probabilit茅s is edited by Catherine Donati-Martin, Antoine Lejay and Alain Rouault.

The previous editors were Paul-Andr茅 Meyer, Jacques Az茅ma, Marc Yor, Michel Emery, Michel Ledoux, Christophe Stricker.

Last publications

Volume 49 (TOC) has been published in August 2018 (volume 2215 of Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Springer-Verlag, ISBN: 978-3-319-92419-9).

Volume 48 (TOC) has been published in December 2016 (volume 2168 of Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Springer-Verlag, ISBN: 978-3-319-44464-2).

Volume 47 (TOC), dedicated to the memory of Marc Yor, has been published in September 2015 (volume 2137 of Lecture Notes in Mathematics, Springer-Verlag, ISBN: 978-3-319-18584-2).

Finding an article / online access to the articles

Access to the volumes : From Volume 1 to Volume 36 (Numdam) | From Volume 37.

All the articles are accessible online through the Spingerlink Website with a restricted access.
