In this paper, the design and simulation of conventional, slotted, and perforated MEMS capacitive pressure sensor is proposed. Polysilicon material is used as diaphragm material that deflects due to applied pressure. Better sensitivity is the main advantage of conventional pressure sensor as compared with other two sensors and perforated pressure sensor achieves large operating pressure range. The proposed MEMS sensor demonstrated with diaphragm length 50um, gap depth 3um is being modelled. Also, perforated plate flow conditioners designed to improve flow distribution upstream of an orifice plate flow meter typically have 50–60% free area but these generally employ a non-uniform distribution of holes of several sizes to encourage the formation of a fully developed pipe flow velocity distribution. In this study, therefore, numerical investigations on the flow characteristics with the various perforated plates have been performed and then compared to the case without a perforated plate. Three different models are adopted such as a flat perforated plate, a convex perforated plate in the direction of the inlet, and a convex perforated plate in the direction of the outlet. Simulation results show that the pressure drop with and without perforated plates are similar each other. However, it can be found that that the different shaped perforated plates influence the velocity contour, flow uniformity index, and location of the fully developed fluid flow. These results can be used as a practical guide to the best design of pipe with the perforated plate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20plate" title="perforated plate">perforated plate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20uniformity" title=" flow uniformity"> flow uniformity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pipe%20turbulent%20flow" title=" pipe turbulent flow"> pipe turbulent flow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CFD%20%28Computational%20Fluid%20Dynamics%29" title=" CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) "> CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23752/a-numerical-study-on-the-flow-in-a-pipe-with-perforated-plates" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23752.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">691</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">131</span> Design and Simulation High Sensitive MEMS Capacitive Pressure Sensor with Small Size for Glaucoma Treatment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yadollah%20Hezarjaribi">Yadollah Hezarjaribi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahdie%20Yari%20Esboi"> Mahdie Yari Esboi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, a novel MEMS capacitive pressure sensor with small size and high sensitivity is presented. This sensor has the separated clamped square diaphragm and the movable plate. The diaphragm material is polysilicon. The movable and fixed plates and mechanical coupling are gold. The substrate and diaphragm are pyrex glass and polysilicon, respectively. In capacitive sensor the sensitivity is proportional to deflection and capacitance changes with pressure for this reason with this design is improved the capacitance and sensitivity with small size. This sensor is designed for low pressure between 0-60 mmHg that is used for medical application such as treatment of an incurable disease called glaucoma. The size of this sensor is 350×350 µm2 and the thickness of the diaphragm is 2µm with 1μ air gap. This structure is designed by intellisuite software. In this MEMS capacitive pressure sensor the sensor sensitivity, diaphragm mechanical sensitivity for polysilicon diaphragm are 0.0469Pf/mmHg, 0.011 μm/mmHg, respectively. According to the simulating results for low pressure, the structure with polysilicon diaphragm has more change of the displacement and capacitance, this leads to high sensitivity than other diaphragms. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=glaucoma" title="glaucoma">glaucoma</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MEMS%20capacitive%20pressure%20sensor" title=" MEMS capacitive pressure sensor"> MEMS capacitive pressure sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=square%20clamped%20diaphragm" title=" square clamped diaphragm"> square clamped diaphragm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=polysilicon" title=" polysilicon"> polysilicon</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46427/design-and-simulation-high-sensitive-mems-capacitive-pressure-sensor-with-small-size-for-glaucoma-treatment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/46427.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">319</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">130</span> Impact of Out-of-Plane Stiffness of the Diaphragm on Deflection of Wood Light-Frame Shear Walls</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20M.%20Bagheri">M. Where research has lacked is in evaluating the impact of out-of-plane raigidity of the diaphragm on the deflection of shear walls. This study aims at investigating the effect of the diaphragm on the behavior of wood light-frame shear walls, in particular its out-of-plane rigidity was simulated by modeling the floors as beam. The out of plane stiffness of the diaphragm was investigated for idealized (infinitely stiff or flexible) as well as “realistic”. The results showed reductions in the shear wall deflection in the magnitude of approximately 80% considering the out of plane rigidity of the diaphragm. It was also concluded that considering conservative estimates of out-of-plane stiffness might lead to a very significant reduction in deflection and that assuming the floor diaphragm to be infinitely rigid out of plan seems to be reasonable. For diaphragms supported on multiple panels, further reduction in the deflection was observed. More work, particularly at the experimental level, is needed to verify the finding obtained in the numerical investigation related to the effect of out of plane diaphragm stiffness. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20analysis" title="finite element analysis">finite element analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lateral%20deflection" title=" lateral deflection"> lateral deflection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=out-of-plane%20stiffness%20of%20the%20diaphragm" title=" out-of-plane stiffness of the diaphragm"> out-of-plane stiffness of the diaphragm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wood%20light-frame%20shear%20wall" title=" wood light-frame shear wall"> wood light-frame shear wall</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106928/impact-of-out-of-plane-stiffness-of-the-diaphragm-on-deflection-of-wood-light-frame-shear-walls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/106928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">182</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">129</span> Study on Flexible Diaphragm In-Plane Model of Irregular Multi-Storey Industrial Plant</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cheng-Hao%20Jiang">Cheng-Hao Jiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mu-Xuan%20Tao"> Mu-Xuan Tao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The rigid diaphragm model may cause errors in the calculation of internal forces due to neglecting the in-plane deformation of the diaphragm. This paper thus studies the effects of different diaphragm in-plane models (including in-plane rigid model and in-plane flexible model) on the seismic performance of structures. Taking an actual industrial plant as an example, the seismic performance of the structure is predicted using different floor diaphragm models, and the analysis errors caused by different diaphragm in-plane models including deformation error and internal force error are calculated. Furthermore, the influence of the aspect ratio on the analysis errors is investigated. Finally, the code rationality is evaluated by assessing the analysis errors of the structure models whose floors were determined as rigid according to the code’s criterion. It is found that different floor models may cause great differences in the distribution of structural internal forces, and the current code may underestimate the influence of the floor in-plane effect. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=industrial%20plant" title="industrial plant">industrial plant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diaphragm" title=" diaphragm"> diaphragm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=calculating%20error" title=" calculating error"> calculating error</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=code%20rationality" title=" code rationality"> code rationality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127256/study-on-flexible-diaphragm-in-plane-model-of-irregular-multi-storey-industrial-plant" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127256.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">140</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">128</span> Improving Inelastic Capacity of Cold-Formed Steel Beams Using Slotted Blotted Connection</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marzie%20Shahini">Marzie Shahini</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Bagheri%20Sabbagh"> Alireza Bagheri Sabbagh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rasoul%20Mirghaderi"> Rasoul Mirghaderi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paul%20C.%20Davidson"> Paul C. An extensive finite element analysis was conducted on the through plate CFS bolted connections which are equipped with the slotted hole. The studied parameters in this paper included the following: CFS beam section geometry, the value of slip force, CFS beam thickness. The numerical results indicate that CFS slotted bolted connection exhibit higher inelastic capacity in terms of ductility compare to connection with standards holes. Moreover, the effect of slip force was analysed by comparing the moment-rotation curves of different models with different slip force value. As a result, as the slip force became lower, there was a tendency for the plastic strain to extend from the CFS member to the connection region. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slip-critical%20bolted%20connection" title="slip-critical bolted connection">slip-critical bolted connection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inelastic%20capacity" title=" inelastic capacity"> inelastic capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slotted%20holes" title=" slotted holes"> slotted holes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cold-formed%20steel" title=" cold-formed steel"> cold-formed steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bolt%20slippage" title=" bolt slippage"> bolt slippage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slip%20force" title=" slip force"> slip force</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59462/improving-inelastic-capacity-of-cold-formed-steel-beams-using-slotted-blotted-connection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59462.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">431</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">127</span> Deep Excavations with Embedded Retaining Walls - Diaphragm Walls</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sowmiyaa%20V.%20S.">Sowmiyaa V. The ANN model for the solving the hard problem of complex steel perforated sections is very promising. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neural%20network%20%28ANN%29" title="artificial neural network (ANN)">artificial neural network (ANN)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=finite%20element%20method%20%28FEM%29" title=" finite element method (FEM)"> finite element method (FEM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20sections" title=" perforated sections"> perforated sections</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thin-walled%20Steel" title=" thin-walled Steel"> thin-walled Steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultimate%20load" title=" ultimate load"> ultimate load</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71733/comparison-of-ann-and-finite-element-model-for-the-prediction-of-ultimate-load-of-thin-walled-steel-perforated-sections-in-compression" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71733.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">352</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">124</span> Flexural Test of Diversing Foam Core Sandwich Composites </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Santhana%20Krishnan%20R">Santhana Krishnan R</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Preetha%20C"> Preetha C</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sandwich construction with strong and stiffness facing and light weight cores is increasingly cores being used in structures where the predominant loads are flexural. The natural frequency of the structure plays a major role in energy harvesting applications since the sensor key element has to operate at resonant frequency. In this paper, circular diaphragm based MEMS acoustic sensor is modelled by Lumped Element Model (LEM) and the natural frequency is compared with the simulated model using Finite Element Method (FEM) tool COMSOL Multiphysics. The sensor has the circular diaphragm of 3000 µm radius and thickness of 30 µm to withstand the high SPL (Sound Pressure Level) and also to withstand the various fabrication steps. A Piezoelectric ZnO layer of thickness of 1 µm sandwiched between two aluminium electrodes of thickness 0.5 µm and is coated on the diaphragm. Further, a channel with radius 3000 µm radius and length 270 µm is connected at the bottom of the diaphragm. The natural frequency of the structure by LEM method is approximately 16.6 kHz which is closely matching with that of simulated structure with suitable approximations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustic%20sensor" title="acoustic sensor">acoustic sensor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diaphragm%20based" title=" diaphragm based"> diaphragm based</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lumped%20element%20modeling%20%28LEM%29" title=" lumped element modeling (LEM)"> lumped element modeling (LEM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20frequency" title=" natural frequency"> natural frequency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piezoelectric" title=" piezoelectric"> piezoelectric</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87746/modeling-of-microelectromechanical-systems-diaphragm-based-acoustic-sensor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87746.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">442</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">122</span> A Wideband Low-Profile Circularly-Polarized Slotted Patch Antenna</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sai%20Radavaram">Sai Radavaram</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A wideband low-profile circularly-polarized antenna, consisting of 2×2 sequentially-rotated, differentially-fed, slotted rectangular patch elements, is proposed. Standard rubble mound breakwaters, although widely used, occupy port space and require large amounts of stones or rocks. Kuwait does not have good quality stone, so they are imported at a very high cost. Therefore, there is a need for a new wave energy dissipating structure where stones and rocks are scarce. While permeable slotted vertical walls have been proved to be a suitable alternative to rubble mound breakwaters, the introduction of sloped slotted walls may be more efficient in dissipating wave energy. For example, two slotted barriers with 60degree inclination may be equivalent to three vertical slotted barriers from wave energy dissipation point of view. A detailed physical model study is carried out to determine the effects of slope angle, porosity, and a number of walls on wave energy dissipation for a wide range of random and regular waves. The results of this study can be used to improve and optimize energy dissipation and reduce construction cost. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=porosity" title="porosity">porosity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slope" title=" slope"> slope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wave%20reflection" title=" wave reflection"> wave reflection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wave%20transmission" title=" wave transmission"> wave transmission</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59353/wave-interaction-with-single-and-twin-vertical-and-sloped-porous-walls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59353.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">290</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">120</span> Biological Optimization following BM-MSC Seeding of Partially Demineralized and Partially Demineralized Laser-Perforated Structural Bone Allografts Implanted in Critical Femoral Defects</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S.%20AliReza%20Mirghasemi">S. The purpose of this experiment is to determine the effect of bone-marrow-mesenchymal-stem-cells seeding on partially demineralized laser-perforated structural allografts that have been implanted in critical femoral defects. Materials and Methods: P3 stem cells were used for graft seeding. Laser perforation in four rows of three holes was achieved. Cell-seeded grafts were incubated for one hour until they were planted into the defect. We used four types of grafts: partially demineralized only (Donly), partially demineralized stem cell seeded (DST), partially demineralized laser-perforated (DLP), and partially demineralized laser-perforated stem cell seeded (DLPST). histologic and histomorphometric analysis were performed at 12 weeks. Results: Partially demineralized laser-perforated had the highest woven bone formation within graft limits, stem cell seeded demineralized laser-perforated remained intact, and the difference between partially demineralized only and partially demineralized stem cell seeded was insignificant. At interface, partially demineralized laser-perforated and partially demineralized only had comparable osteogenesis, but partially demineralized stem cell seeded was inferior. The interface in stem cell seeded demineralized laser-perforated was almost replaced by distinct endochondral osteogenesis with higher angiogenesis in the vicinity. Partially demineralized stem cell seeded and stem cell seeded demineralized laser-perforated graft surfaces had extra vessel-ingrowth-like porosities, a sign of delayed resorption. Conclusion: This demonstrates that simple cell-based composites are not optimal and necessitates the supplementation of synergistic stipulations and surface changes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20bone%20allograft" title="structural bone allograft">structural bone allograft</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=partial%20demineralization" title=" partial demineralization"> partial demineralization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20perforation" title=" laser perforation"> laser perforation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mesenchymal%20stem%20cell" title=" mesenchymal stem cell"> mesenchymal stem cell</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34775/biological-optimization-following-bm-msc-seeding-of-partially-demineralized-and-partially-demineralized-laser-perforated-structural-bone-allografts-implanted-in-critical-femoral-defects" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34775.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">413</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">119</span> Investigation of the Flow Characteristics in a Catalytic Muffler with Perforated Inlet Cone</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gyo%20Woo%20Lee">Gyo Woo Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Man%20Young%20Kim"> Man Young Kim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Emission regulations for diesel engines are being strengthened and it is impossible to meet the standards without exhaust after-treatment systems. Lack of the space in many diesel vehicles, however, make it difficult to design and install stand-alone catalytic converters such as DOC, DPF, and SCR in the vehicle exhaust systems. Accordingly, those have been installed inside the muffler to save the space, and referred to the catalytic muffler. However, that has complex internal structure with perforated plate and pipe for noise and monolithic catalyst for emission reduction. For this reason, flow uniformity and pressure drop, which affect efficiency of catalyst and engine performance, respectively, should be examined when the catalytic muffler is designed. In this work, therefore, the flow uniformity and pressure drop to improve the performance of the catalytic converter and the engine have been numerically investigated by changing various design parameters such as inlet shape, porosity, and outlet shape of the muffler using the three-dimensional turbulent flow of the incompressible, non-reacting, and steady state inside the catalytic muffler. Finally, it can be found that the shape, in which the muffler has perforated pipe inside the inlet part, has higher uniformity index and lower pressure drop than others considered in this work. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalytic%20muffler" title="catalytic muffler">catalytic muffler</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20inlet%20cone" title=" perforated inlet cone"> perforated inlet cone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=catalysts" title=" catalysts"> catalysts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20pipe" title=" perforated pipe"> perforated pipe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flow%20uniformity" title=" flow uniformity"> flow uniformity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pressure%20drop" title=" pressure drop"> pressure drop</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8517/investigation-of-the-flow-characteristics-in-a-catalytic-muffler-with-perforated-inlet-cone" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8517.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">326</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">118</span> Experimental Study of the Sound Absorption of a Geopolymer Panel with a Textile Component Designed for a Railway Corridor</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ludmila%20Fridrichov%C3%A1">Ludmila Fridrichová</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roman%20Kn%C3%AD%C5%BEek"> Roman Knížek</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pavel%20N%C4%9Bme%C4%8Dek"> Pavel Němeček</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Katarzyna%20Ewa%20Buczkowska"> Katarzyna Ewa Buczkowska</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The design of the sound absorption panel, which consists of three layers, is presented in this study. Different perforation structures can nowadays be found in various industrial products. Besides improving the mechanical properties, the perforations can intensify the heat transfer as well. To determine the heat coefficients and the Nusselt numbers, the numerical simulation approach was adopted. The calculations were performed using the OpenFOAM software. The three-dimensional, unstable, turbulent and incompressible air flow around the perforated surface metal plate was considered. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforations" title="perforations">perforations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=convective%20heat%20transfers" title=" convective heat transfers"> convective heat transfers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=turbulent%20flows" title=" turbulent flows"> turbulent flows</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20simulations" title=" numerical simulations"> numerical simulations</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35110/air-flows-along-perforated-metal-plates-with-the-heat-transfer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">580</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">114</span> Conception of Increasing the Efficiency of Excavation Shoring by Prestressing Diaphragm Walls</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mateusz%20Frydrych">Mateusz Frydrych</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The construction of diaphragm walls as excavation shoring as well as part of deep foundations is widely used in geotechnical engineering. Today's design challenges lie in the optimal dimensioning of the cross-section, which is demanded by technological considerations. Also in force is the issue of optimization and sustainable use of construction materials, including reduction of carbon footprint, which is currently a relevant challenge for the construction industry. The author presents the concept of an approach to achieving increased efficiency of diaphragm wall excavation shoring by using structural compression technology. The author proposes to implement prestressed tendons in a non-linear manner in the reinforcement cage. As a result bending moment is reduced, which translates into a reduction in the amount of steel needed in the section, a reduction in displacements, and a reduction in the scratching of the casing, including the achievement of better tightness. This task is rarely seen and has not yet been described in a scientific way in the literature. The author has developed a dynamic numerical model that allows the dimensioning of the cross-section of a prestressed shear wall, as well as the study of casing displacements and cross-sectional forces in any defined computational situation. Numerical software from the Sofistik - open source development environment - was used for the study, and models were validated in Plaxis software . This is an interesting idea that allows for optimizing the execution of construction works and reducing the required resources by using fewer materials and saving time. The author presents the possibilities of a prestressed diaphragm wall, among others, using. The example of a diaphragm wall working as a cantilever at the height of two underground floors without additional strutting or stability protection by using ground anchors. This makes the execution of the work more criminal for the contractor and, as a result, cheaper for the investor. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prestressed%20diaphragm%20wall" title="prestressed diaphragm wall">prestressed diaphragm wall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Plaxis" title=" Plaxis"> Plaxis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sofistik" title=" Sofistik"> Sofistik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovation" title=" innovation"> innovation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=FEM" title=" FEM"> FEM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimisation" title=" optimisation"> optimisation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177314/conception-of-increasing-the-efficiency-of-excavation-shoring-by-prestressing-diaphragm-walls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/177314.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">77</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">113</span> Experimental Verification of Similarity Criteria for Sound Absorption of Perforated Panels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aleksandra%20Majchrzak">Aleksandra Majchrzak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Katarzyna%20Baruch"> Katarzyna Baruch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monika%20Sobolewska"> Monika Sobolewska</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bartlomiej%20Chojnacki"> Bartlomiej Chojnacki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adam%20Pilch"> Adam Pilch</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Scaled modeling is very common in the areas of science such as aerodynamics or fluid mechanics, since defining characteristic numbers enables to determine relations between objects under test and their models. In acoustics, scaled modeling is aimed mainly at investigation of room acoustics, sound insulation and sound absorption phenomena. Despite such a range of application, there is no method developed that would enable scaling acoustical perforated panels freely, maintaining their sound absorption coefficient in a desired frequency range. However, conducted theoretical and numerical analyses have proven that it is not physically possible to obtain given sound absorption coefficient in a desired frequency range by directly scaling only all of the physical dimensions of a perforated panel, according to a defined characteristic number. This paper is a continuation of the research mentioned above and presents practical evaluation of theoretical and numerical analyses. The measurements of sound absorption coefficient of perforated panels were performed in order to verify previous analyses and as a result find the relations between full-scale perforated panels and their models which will enable to scale them properly. The measurements were conducted in a one-to-eight model of a reverberation chamber of Technical Acoustics Laboratory, AGH. Obtained results verify theses proposed after theoretical and numerical analyses. Finding the relations between full-scale and modeled perforated panels will allow to produce measurement samples equivalent to the original ones. As a consequence, it will make the process of designing acoustical perforated panels easier and will also lower the costs of prototypes production. Having this knowledge, it will be possible to emulate in a constructed model panels used, or to be used, in a full-scale room more precisely and as a result imitate or predict the acoustics of a modeled space more accurately. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=characteristic%20numbers" title="characteristic numbers">characteristic numbers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dimensional%20analysis" title=" dimensional analysis"> dimensional analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model%20study" title=" model study"> model study</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scaled%20modeling" title=" scaled modeling"> scaled modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sound%20absorption%20coefficient" title=" sound absorption coefficient"> sound absorption coefficient</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78680/experimental-verification-of-similarity-criteria-for-sound-absorption-of-perforated-panels" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78680.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">196</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">112</span> Numerical Analysis of a Strainer Using Porous Media Technique</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ji-Hoon%20Byeon">Ji-Hoon Byeon</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kwon-Hee%20Lee"> Kwon-Hee Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Strainer filter serves to block the inflow of impurities while mixed fluid is entering or exiting the piping. The filter of the strainer has a perforated structure, so that the pressure drop and the velocity change necessarily occur when the mixed fluid passes through the filter. It is possible to predict the pressure drop and velocity change of the strainer by numerical analysis by implementing all the perforated plates. However, if the size of the perforated plate exceeds a certain size, it is difficult to perform the numerical analysis, and sometimes we cannot guarantee its accuracy. In this study, we tried to predict the pressure drop and velocity change by using the porous media technique to obtain the equivalent resistance without actual implementation of the perforation shape of the strainer. Ansys-CFX, a commercial software, is used to perform the numerical analysis. The analysis procedure is as follows. Firstly, the unit pattern of the perforated plate is modeled, and the pressure drop is analyzed by varying the velocity by symmetry of the wall surface. Secondly, since the equation for obtaining resistance is a quadratic equation of pressure having unknown velocity, the viscous resistance and the inertia resistance of the perforated plate are obtained from the relationship between pressure and speed. Thirdly, by using the calculated resistance values, the values are substituted into the flat plate implemented as a two-dimensional porous media, and the accuracy is verified by comparing the pressure drop and the velocity change. Fourthly, the pressure drop and velocity change in the whole strainer are analyzed by using the resistance values obtained on the perforated plate in the actual whole strainer model. Using the porous media technique, it is found that pressure drop and velocity change can be predicted in relatively short time without modeling the overall shape of the filter. It is a rare condition commonly attributed to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) usage. Herein we present a 31-yr-old-female with a history of NSAIDs usage for one year following neurosurgery, who presented with recurrent idiopathic small bowel obstruction, recalcitrant anaemia, and impaction of capsule endoscope on investigating for anaemia. The capsule endoscopy images demonstrated multiple circumferential strictures with ulcers at its tip and villous atrophy in the proximal bowel, suggestive of NSAIDs related damage. However, due to the lack of awareness of the detrimental effects of NSAIDs on bowel mucosa distal to the duodenum, the underlying aetiology of this clinical presentation remained a mystery for a significant duration. The patient had to undergo repeated laparotomies in order to relieve the symptoms of recurring acute small bowel obstruction. Upon examining the resected specimen under microscopy, the histopathological hallmark of expanded, fibrotic, and congested submucosa was picked up, leading to the confirmation of diaphragm disease. Thus, this case report aims to widen the awareness among clinicians and aid surgeons in devising a management plan for young individuals presenting with recurring episodes of obstruction due to Diaphragm disease. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=capsule%20endoscopy" title="capsule endoscopy">capsule endoscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=diaphragm%20disease" title=" diaphragm disease"> diaphragm disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NSAIDs" title=" NSAIDs"> NSAIDs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recurrent%20small%20bowel%20obstruction" title=" recurrent small bowel obstruction"> recurrent small bowel obstruction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148989/a-case-report-on-diaphragm-disease-of-small-bowel-following-usage-of-non-steroidal-anti-inflammatory-drugs" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148989.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">170</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">110</span> Numerical Investigation of Wave Interaction with Double Vertical Slotted Walls</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=H.%20Ahmed">H. These protection structures have minor impacts on the coastal environment and neighboring beaches where they provide a more economical protection from waves and currents. For regular waves, a numerical model is used (FLOW-3D, VOF) to investigate the hydraulic performance of a permeable breakwater. The model of permeable breakwater consists of a pair of identical vertical slotted walls with an impermeable upper and lower part, where the draft is a decimal multiple of the total depth. The middle part is permeable with a porosity of 50%. The second barrier is located at distant of 0.5 and 1.5 of the water depth from the first one. The numerical model is validated by comparisons with previous laboratory data and semi-analytical results of the same model. A good agreement between the numerical results and both laboratory data and semi-analytical results has been shown and the results indicate the applicability of the numerical model to reproduce most of the important features of the interaction. Through the numerical investigation, the friction factor of the model is carefully discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coastal%20structures" title="coastal structures">coastal structures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=permeable%20breakwater" title=" permeable breakwater"> permeable breakwater</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=slotted%20wall" title=" slotted wall"> slotted wall</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=numerical%20model" title=" numerical model"> numerical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20dissipation%20coefficient" title=" energy dissipation coefficient"> energy dissipation coefficient</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12807/numerical-investigation-of-wave-interaction-with-double-vertical-slotted-walls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12807.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">391</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">109</span> Comparative Investigation of Miniaturized Antennas Based on Chiral Slotted Ground Plane</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Oussema%20Tabbabi">Oussema Tabbabi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mondher%20Laabidi"> Mondher Laabidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fethi%20Choubani"> Fethi Choubani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20David"> J. In general, however, optimizing two or more performance factors confronts the limits of time and computational tools. The optimization phase typically repeats infinitely until a series of processes that generate alternatives and analyze the generated alternatives achieve the desired performance. In particular, as complex geometry or precision increases, computational resources and time are prohibitive to find the required performance, so an optimization methodology is needed to deal with this. Instead of directly analyzing all the alternatives in the optimization process, applying experimental techniques (heuristic method) learned through experimentation and experience can reduce resource waste. This study proposes and verifies a method to optimize the double envelope of a building composed of a perforated panel using machine learning to the design geometry and quantitative performance. The proposed method is to achieve the required performance with fewer resources by supplementing the existing method which cannot calculate the complex shape of the perforated panel. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20envelope" title="building envelope">building envelope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20metal" title=" perforated metal"> perforated metal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=multi-factor%20optimization" title=" multi-factor optimization"> multi-factor optimization</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fa%C3%A7ade" title=" façade"> façade</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81902/multi-factor-optimization-method-through-machine-learning-in-building-envelope-design-focusing-on-perforated-metal-facade" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/81902.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">224</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">107</span> Comparison of Storage Facilities on Different Varieties of Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato Grown in Rwanda</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jean%20Paul%20Hategekimana">Jean Paul Hategekimana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dukuzumuremyi%20Yvonne"> Dukuzumuremyi Yvonne</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mukeshimana%20Marthe"> Mukeshimana Marthe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandre%20Niyonshima"> Alexandre Niyonshima</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) is a very important staple food crop in Rwanda due to its high growth and consumption in all parts of the country. The effect of seven different storage conditions on the quality and nutritional composition of the three most grown and consumed varieties of orange-fleshed sweet potato (OFSP), namely Kabode, Terimbere, and Vita, were studied over a period of six weeks at Postharvest Service and Training Center of University Rwanda, Busogo Campus. The potato stored under the following conditions (zero energy cooling chamber, ground washed sweet potato, ground unwashed sweet potato, perforated washed sweet potato, perforated unwashed sweet potato, non-perforated washed sweet potato, and non-perforated unwashed sweet potato) were assessed in this study. These storage conditions are the modifications of existing methods currently used in Rwanda for suitable local climatic conditions. Hence, 30kgs of freshly harvested OFSP for each variety were bought from farmers of Gakenke and Rulindo districts and then transported to the postharvest training and service center UR-CAVM, Busogo Campus. 2.5kg of each potato sample was selected and stored under the above-mentioned storage conditions after pretreatment. Data were collected for six weeks on percent weight loss, shrinkability and the general appearance at interval of three days. The stored samples were also analyzed for moisture, crude ash, crude fiber, and reduced sugar levels during the entire storage period. Results showed the difference among the various storage conditions. It was shown that ZECC and non-perforated sacs (in the open air) storage techniques had good potential for storage of orange flesh sweet potato for up to six weeks without considerable change in physical and nutritional parameters compared to other considered conditions and, therefore, can be recommended as more useful for OSFP at farm level and during transport and market storage. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ZECC" title="ZECC">ZECC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=orange%20fleshed%20sweet%20potato" title=" orange fleshed sweet potato"> orange fleshed sweet potato</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perforated%20sacs" title=" perforated sacs"> perforated sacs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=storage%20conditions" title=" storage conditions"> storage conditions</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182278/comparison-of-storage-facilities-on-different-varieties-of-orange-fleshed-sweet-potato-grown-in-rwanda" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182278.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">68</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">106</span> Terminal Ballistic Analysis of Non-Filled and Water-Filled Tank</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20R.%20Aziz">M. The permeable breakwaters are partially protection and have been suggested to overcome the environmental disadvantages of fully protection breakwaters. For regular waves a semi-analytical model is based on an eigenfunction expansion method and utilizes a boundary condition at the surface of each wall are developed to detect the energy dissipation through the slots. Extensive laboratory tests are carried out to validate the semi-analytic models. The structure of the physical model contains two walls and it consists of impermeable upper and lower part, where the draft is based a decimal multiple of the total depth. The middle part is permeable with a porosity of 50%. The second barrier is located at a distant of 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2 times of the water depth from the first one. A comparison of the theoretical results with previous studies and experimental measurements of the present study show a good agreement and that, the semi-analytical model is able to adequately reproduce most the important features of the experiment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=permeable%20breakwater" title="permeable breakwater">permeable breakwater</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=double%20vertical%20slotted%20walls" title=" double vertical slotted walls"> double vertical slotted walls</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=semi-analytical%20model" title=" semi-analytical model"> semi-analytical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20coefficient" title=" transmission coefficient"> transmission coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reflection%20coefficient" title=" reflection coefficient"> reflection coefficient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20dissipation%20coefficient" title=" energy dissipation coefficient"> energy dissipation coefficient</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12805/experimental-and-semi-analytical-investigation-of-wave-interaction-with-double-vertical-slotted-walls" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12805.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">104</span> A Dual Band Microstrip Patch Antenna for WLAN and WiMAX Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=P.%20Krachodnok">P. The proposed antenna is designed by using substrate FR4 having permittivity of 4.4 and air substrate. The characteristics of the antenna are designed and evaluated the performance of modelled antenna using CST Microwave studio. The proposed antenna dual resonant frequency has been achieved in the band of 2.37-2.55 GHz and 3.4-3.6 GHz. Because of the impact of FSS superstrate, it is found that the bandwidths have been improved from 6.12% to 7.35 % and 3.7% to 5.7% at resonant frequencies 2.45 GHz and 3.5 GHz, respectively. The maximum gain at the resonant frequency of 2.45 and 3.5 GHz are 9.3 and 11.33 dBi, respectively. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
