suppression through adjustable stiffness. The method involves changing the center of ‎mass of the cantilever-type resonator to achieve piezo-free tuning of stiffness. The study investigates the ‎effect of the center of masses variation (δ) of attached masses on the bandgap and vibration suppression ‎performance of a non-uniform beam-type resonator within a phononic structure. The results suggest that the ‎cantilever-type resonator beam can be used to achieve tunability and real-time control and indicate that ‎varying δ significantly impacts the bandgap and transmittance response. Additionally, the research explores ‎the use of the first and second modes of resonators for tunability and real-time control. These findings examine ‎the feasibility of this approach, demonstrate the potential for improving resonator performance, and provide ‎insights into the design and optimization of metamaterial beams for vibration suppression applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bandgap" title="bandgap">bandgap</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adjustable%20stiffness" title=" adjustable stiffness"> adjustable stiffness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spatial%20variation" title=" spatial variation"> spatial variation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tunability" title=" tunability"> tunability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164781/band-gap-tuning-based-on-adjustable-stiffness-of-local-resonators" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164781.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">85</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">442</span> Problems of Drought and Its Management in Yobe State, Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Gana%20Abdullahi">Hassan Gana Abdullahi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Michael%20A.%20Fullen"> Michael A. Drought and desertification are major problems in Yobe State (north-east Nigeria). This investigation aims to develop a workable framework and management tool for drought mitigation in Yobe State. Mixed methods were employed during the study and additional qualitative information was gathered through Focus Group Discussions (FGD). Data on socio-economic impacts of drought were thus collected via both questionnaire surveys and FGD. In all, 1,040 questionnaires were distributed to farmers in the State and 721 were completed, representing a return rate of 69.3%. Data analysis showed that 97.9% of respondents considered themselves to be drought victims, whilst 69.3% of the respondents were unemployed and had no other means of income, except through rain-fed farming. Developing a viable and holistic approach to drought mitigation is crucial, to arrest and hopefully reverse environment degradation. Analysed data will be used to develop an integrated framework for drought mitigation and management in Yobe State. This paper introduces the socio-economic and environmental effects of drought in Yobe State. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drought" title="drought">drought</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change" title=" climate change"> climate change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mitigation" title=" mitigation"> mitigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=management" title=" management"> management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yobe%20State" title=" Yobe State"> Yobe State</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63868/problems-of-drought-and-its-management-in-yobe-state-nigeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/63868.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">372</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">441</span> Developing Emission Factors of Fugitive Particulate Matter Emissions for Construction Sites in the Middle East Area</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hala%20A.%20Hassan">Hala A. The meteorological conditions and topography of the area make it highly susceptible to wind-blown particles which raise many air quality concerns. Air quality tools such as field monitoring, emission factors, and dispersion modeling have been used in previous research studies to analyze the release and impacts of fugitive PM in the region. However, these tools have been originally developed based on experiments made for European and North American regions. In this work, an experimental campaign was conducted on April-May 2014 in a construction site in Doha city, Qatar. The ultimate goal is to evaluate the applicability of the existing emission factors for construction sites in dry and arid areas like the Middle East. When estuaries are improperly managed or polluted, long or short term damage to local economy or harm to local life forms can be caused. Estuaries are shelters for thousands of species such as birds, mammals, fish, crustaceans, insects, reptiles, and amphibians. The delicate balance of these life forms in estuaries requires careful planning for the benefit of all. The commercial value of estuaries is very important; recreational activities that people enjoy like boating, kayaking, windsurfing, swimming, bird-watching and fishing are marketable. Estuaries are national treasures with vital community and ecological resources. Years of estuarine environmental studies have produced extensive results that merit consideration. This study reviews research results from various sources and suggests best strategies for maintaining healthy estuaries in the current socioeconomic conditions. The main hypothesis is that many estuaries can be restored to their original healthy status in a cost effective manner with restoration or prevention plans suggested in published studies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environment" title="environment">environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pollution" title=" pollution"> pollution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainable" title=" sustainable"> sustainable</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wildlife" title=" wildlife"> wildlife</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8356/best-practices-for-healthy-estuaries" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/8356.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">306</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">439</span> Effect of Hand Grip Strength on Shoulder Muscles Activity in Patients with Subacromial Impingement</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20E.%20Abdelrahamn">Mohamed E. Patients often complain from a decrease in electromyography (EMG) activity of the rotator cuff muscles especially the supraspinatus muscle during glenohumeral elevation. Objective: The purpose of the study is to assess the effect of applying 50% of maximum voluntary contraction of hand grip strength on the EMG activity of the shoulder muscles in patients with SIS. Methods: Thirty male and female patients participated in this study. Their ages ranged from 25 to 40 years. EMG activity of supraspinatus muscle and middle deltoid muscle was assessed without and with applying 50% of maximum voluntary contraction (MVC). Results: A significant difference was found for both supraspinatus and middle deltoid muscles, indicating that the gripping resulted in increasing muscle activity. Conclusion: Applying 50% MVC of hand grip strength could increase the supraspinatus and middle deltoid muscles activity in patients of SIS. This might be useful in the development and monitoring of shoulder rehabilitation strategies. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electromyography" title="electromyography">electromyography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=supraspinatus%20muscle" title=" supraspinatus muscle"> supraspinatus muscle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deltoid%20muscle" title=" deltoid muscle"> deltoid muscle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subacromial%20impingement%20syndrome" title=" subacromial impingement syndrome"> subacromial impingement syndrome</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49603/effect-of-hand-grip-strength-on-shoulder-muscles-activity-in-patients-with-subacromial-impingement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49603.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">302</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">438</span> Response of Vibration and Damping System of UV Irradiated Renewable Biopolymer </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anika%20Zafiah%20M.%20Rus">Anika Zafiah M. In this project, biopolymer based on waste vegetable oil were synthesized and crosslink with commercial polymethane polyphenyl isocyanate (known as BF).The BF was compressed by using hot compression moulding technique at 90 oC based on the evaporation of volatile matter and known as compress biopolymer (CB). The density, vibration and damping characteristic of CB were determined after UV irradiation. Treatment with titanium dioxide (TiO2) was found to affect the physical property of compress biopolymer composite (CBC). The density of CBC samples was steadily increased with an increase of UV irradiation time and TiO2 loading. The highest density of CBC samples is at 10 % of TiO2 loading of 1.1088 g/cm3 due to the amount of filler loading. The vibration and damping characteristic of CBC samples was generated at displacements of 1 mm and 1.5 mm and acceleration of 0.1 G and 0.15 G base excitation according to ASTM D3580-9. It was revealed that, the vibration and damping characteristic of CBC samples is significantly increased with the increasing of UV irradiation time, lowest thickness and percentages of TiO2 loading at the frequency range of 15 - 25 Hz. Therefore, this study indicated that the damping property of CBC could be improved upon prolonged exposure to UV irradiation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biopolymer%20flexible%20foam" title="biopolymer flexible foam">biopolymer flexible foam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TGA" title=" TGA"> TGA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UV%20irradiation" title=" UV irradiation"> UV irradiation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vibration%20and%20damping" title=" vibration and damping"> vibration and damping</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16776/response-of-vibration-and-damping-system-of-uv-irradiated-renewable-biopolymer" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16776.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">466</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">437</span> Magnesium Foliar Application and Phosphorien Soil Inoculation Positively Affect Pisum sativum L. The concentration of Cd, Fe and Ni were above the permissible limit of FAO/WHO. Conclusion: The results also show that the analyzed plant is a beneficial source of appropriate and essential trace metals. However, the leaf of G. oreophila in the present study was probably unsafe for long-term use because of the level of Fe, Ni, and Cd concentration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Globimetula%20oreophila" title="Globimetula oreophila">Globimetula oreophila</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minerals" title=" minerals"> minerals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trace%20element" title=" trace element"> trace element</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crude%20extract" title=" crude extract"> crude extract</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143724/some-trace-and-toxic-metal-content-of-crude-ethanol-leaf-extract-of-globimetula-oreophila-hook-f-danser-azadirachta-indica-using-atomic-absorption-spectroscopy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143724.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">151</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">435</span> The Assessment of Some Biological Parameters With Dynamic Energy Budget of Mussels in Agadir Bay</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zahra%20Okba">Zahra Okba</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20El%20Ouizgani"> Hassan El Ouizgani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Anticipating an individual’s behavior to the environmental factors allows for having relevant ecological forecasts. The Dynamic Energy Budget model facilitates prediction, and it is mechanically dependent on biology to abiotic factors but is generally field verified under relatively stable physical conditions. Dynamic Energy Budget Theory (DEB) is a robust framework that can link the individual state to environmental factors, and in our work, we have tested its ability to account for variability by looking at model predictions in the Agadir Bay, which is characterized by a semi-arid climate and temperature is strongly influenced by the trade winds front and nutritional availability. From previous works in our laboratory, we have collected different biological DEB model parameters of Mytilus galloprovincialis mussel in Agadir Bay. We mathematically formulated the equations that make up the DEB model and then adjusted our analytical functions with the observed biological data of our local species. We also assumed the condition of constant immersion, and then we integrated the details of the tidal cycles to calculate the metabolic depression at low tide. Our results are quite satisfactory concerning the length and shape of the shell in one part and the gonadosomatic index in another part. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20energy%20budget" title="dynamic energy budget">dynamic energy budget</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mussels" title=" mussels"> mussels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mytilus%20galloprovincialis" title=" mytilus galloprovincialis"> mytilus galloprovincialis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agadir%20bay" title=" agadir bay"> agadir bay</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DEB%20model" title=" DEB model"> DEB model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154958/the-assessment-of-some-biological-parameters-with-dynamic-energy-budget-of-mussels-in-agadir-bay" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154958.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">114</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">434</span> Dry Friction Occurring in the Suspensions for Passive and Switchable Damper Systems and Its Effect on Ride Comfort</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aref%20M.%20A.%20Soliman">Aref M. One of the various active suspensions, which have been shown to have considerable practical potential, is a switchable damper suspension system. In this paper, vehicle ride comfort for the passive and switchable damper suspension systems as affected by the value of frictional force generated in springs is discussed. A mathematical model of a quarter vehicle model for two setting switchable damper suspension system with dry friction force is developed to evaluate vehicle ride comfort in terms of suspension performance criteria. The vehicle itself is treated as a rigid body undergoing vertical motions. Comparisons between passive and switchable damper suspensions systems with dry friction force in terms of ride performance are also discussed. The results showed that the ride comfort for the passive and switchable damper suspension systems was deteriorated due to dry friction occurring in the suspensions. The two setting switchable damper with and without dry friction force gives better ride improvements compared with the passive suspension system. Also, the obtained results show an optimum value of damping ratio of the passive suspension system. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ride%20comfort" title="ride comfort">ride comfort</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20friction" title=" dry friction"> dry friction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=switchable%20damper" title=" switchable damper"> switchable damper</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=passive%20suspension" title=" passive suspension"> passive suspension</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82923/dry-friction-occurring-in-the-suspensions-for-passive-and-switchable-damper-systems-and-its-effect-on-ride-comfort" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/82923.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">372</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">433</span> Enhancing of Biogas Production from Slaughterhouse and Dairy Farm Waste with Pasteurization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Hassan%20Onsa">Mahmoud Hassan Onsa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saadelnour%20Abdueljabbar%20Adam"> Saadelnour Abdueljabbar Adam</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Wastes from slaughterhouses in most towns in Sudan are often poorly managed and sometimes discharged into adjoining streams due to poor implementation of standards, thus causing environmental and public health hazards and also there is a large amount of manure from dairy farms. The following databases were searched from inception to May 2014: Cochrane Stroke, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, AMED, PsycINFO, and PEDro. Two reviewers independently screened and selected all randomized controlled trials that evaluate the effect of mirror therapy in stroke rehabilitation.12 randomized controlled trials studies met the inclusion criteria; 10 studies utilized the effect of mirror therapy for the upper limb and 2 studies for the lower limb. Mirror therapy had a positive effect on motor recover and function; however, we found no consistent influence on activity of daily living, Spasticity and balance. This meta-analysis suggests that, Mirror therapy has additional effect on motor recovery but has a small positive effect on functional abilities after stroke. Further high-quality studies with greater statistical power are required in order to accurately determine the effectiveness of mirror therapy following stroke. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mirror%20therapy" title="mirror therapy">mirror therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motor%20recovery" title=" motor recovery"> motor recovery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stroke" title=" stroke"> stroke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=balance" title=" balance"> balance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25110/does-mirror-therapy-improve-motor-recovery-after-stroke-a-meta-analysis-of-randomized-controlled-trials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25110.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">552</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">431</span> Low Intake of Aspartame Induced Weight Gain and Damage of Brain and Liver Cells in Weanling Syrian Hamsters</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Magda%20I.%20Hassan">Magda I. Food intake, weight gain, glucose blood level, and lipid profile were determined at the end of the experiment. The animals were sacrificed and histopathological examination of organs (liver, brain and heart) was done. Results revealed that animals in Asp.groups consumed significantly larger amount of food than the control (13.4±5.9, 8.6±2.5 and 8.8±3.0 vs 4.2±2.5 g/day, in succession). Hamsters in the control group showed higher total cholesterol and HDL levels than hamsters in aspartame 6, 11, 18 groups (160±19 vs 101±13, 130±22, 141±15 mg/dl & 144±9 vs 120±12, 118±13, 99±17 respectively (P<0•05)). The control group showed a glucose concentration below those of aspartame groups, indicating no effect of aspartame on glucose blood level. While, there were no significant differences in the triglycerides and LDL levels between control group and Asp.groups. Histopathological changes were observed, especially in brain and liver cells. Aspartame increases appetite and weight gain of young hamsters. Therefore, FDA should reconsider the acceptable daily intake (ADI) of aspartame for children. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aspartame" title="aspartame">aspartame</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brain" title=" brain"> brain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=food%20intake" title=" food intake"> food intake</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hamsters" title=" hamsters"> hamsters</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39121/low-intake-of-aspartame-induced-weight-gain-and-damage-of-brain-and-liver-cells-in-weanling-syrian-hamsters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39121.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">285</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">430</span> Phytochemical Screening, and Antimicrobial Evaluation of Bioactive Compounds from Red Millipede (Trigoniulus corallinus)</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Y.%20B.%20Idris">Y. The largest yield was obtained from the methanol extract, which had percentage yields of 0.8%, 2.2%, and 5.6%, respectively. Terpenoids and sterols were found in all extracts according to preliminary zoochemical screening, but only the methanol extract included saponins and phenols. With a maximum zone of inhibition of 9 mm at 1000 µg/ml, antimicrobial susceptibility tests revealed that the methanol extract had the strongest antibacterial activity, especially against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Significant activity was also shown by the n-hexane extract, although the chloroform extract had only mild antibacterial activity. Tests for minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) verified that the methanol extract was more effective than the other extracts, particularly against S. aureus and S. typhi. None of the extracts, nonetheless, showed any discernible antifungal action. The potential of red millipede extracts, especially those based on methanol, as a source of antimicrobial chemicals for use in the future is highlighted by this work. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=millipedes" title="millipedes">millipedes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defensive%20extraction" title=" defensive extraction"> defensive extraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antibacterial" title=" antibacterial"> antibacterial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antifungal" title=" antifungal"> antifungal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antimicrobial" title=" antimicrobial"> antimicrobial</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimum%20inhibitory%20concentration%20%28MIC%29" title=" minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)"> minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimum%20bacterial%20concentration%20%28MBC%29" title=" minimum bacterial concentration (MBC)"> minimum bacterial concentration (MBC)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/192970/phytochemical-screening-and-antimicrobial-evaluation-of-bioactive-compounds-from-red-millipede-trigoniulus-corallinus" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/192970.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">12</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">429</span> Reviewing the Relation of Language and Minorities&#039; Rights </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohsen%20Davarzani">Mohsen Davarzani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ehsan%20Lame"> Ehsan Lame</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Taghi%20Hassan%20Zadeh"> Mohammad Taghi Hassan Zadeh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Language is considered as a powerful and outstanding feature of ethnicity. Nowadays, few states can be found in which all individuals and its citizens are of the same race and ethnicity, culture and language. Characteristics of human rights issues, diversity of issues and plurality of meanings indicate that they appear in various aspects. The states are obliged to respect, as per national and international obligations, the rights of all citizens from different angles, especially different groups that require special attention in order of the particular aspects such as ethnicity, religious and political minorities, children, women, workers, unions and in case the states are in breach of any of these items, they are faced with challenges in local, regional or international fields. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=law" title="law">law</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=language" title=" language"> language</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minorities" title=" minorities"> minorities</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethnicity" title=" ethnicity"> ethnicity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38744/reviewing-the-relation-of-language-and-minorities-rights" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38744.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">418</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">428</span> Metabolic Syndrome and Mental Health in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Patient</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Shahmiri%20Barzoki">Hassan Shahmiri Barzoki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an abnormal physiologic and psychological reaction in person with severe traumatic history. The high saturation magnetization of the samples suggests the present method is suitable for obtaining nano particles magnetic ferro bioceramic which is desirable for practical applications such as hyperthermia bone cancer therapy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hyperthermia" title="hyperthermia">hyperthermia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bone%20cancer" title=" bone cancer"> bone cancer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bio%20ceramic" title=" bio ceramic"> bio ceramic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20materials" title=" magnetic materials"> magnetic materials</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sol%E2%80%93%20gel" title=" sol– gel"> sol– gel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silicate%20calcium" title=" silicate calcium"> silicate calcium</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39463/ferro-substituted-silicate-calcium-materials-a-novel-bio-ceramic-using-hyperthermia-for-bone-cancer-therapy" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/39463.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">308</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">425</span> Experimental Investigation of the Aeroacoustics Field for a Rectangular Jet Impinging on a Slotted Plate: Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry Measurement before and after the Plate</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nour%20Eldin%20Afyouni">Nour Eldin Afyouni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Assoum"> Hassan Assoum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamel%20Abed-Meraim"> Kamel Abed-Meraim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anas%20Sakout"> Anas Sakout</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The acoustic of an impinging jet holds significant importance in the engineering field. In HVAC systems, the jet impingement, in some cases, generates noise that destroys acoustic comfort. This paper presents an experimental study of a rectangular air jet impinging on a slotted plate to investigate the correlation between sound emission and turbulence dynamics. The experiment was conducted with an impact ratio L/H = 4 and a Reynolds number Re = 4700. The survey shows that coherent structures within the impinging jet are responsible for self-sustaining tone production. To achieve this, a specific experimental setup consisting of two simultaneous Stereoscopic Particle Image Velocimetry (S-PIV) measurements was developed to track vortical structures both before and after the plate, in addition to acoustic measurements. The results reveal a significant correlation between acoustic waves and the passage of coherent structures. Variations in the arrangement of vortical structures between the upstream and downstream sides of the plate were observed. This analysis of flow dynamics can enhance our understanding of slot noise. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=impinging%20jet" title="impinging jet">impinging jet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=coherent%20structures" title=" coherent structures"> coherent structures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SPIV" title=" SPIV"> SPIV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aeroacoustics" title=" aeroacoustics"> aeroacoustics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172777/experimental-investigation-of-the-aeroacoustics-field-for-a-rectangular-jet-impinging-on-a-slotted-plate-stereoscopic-particle-image-velocimetry-measurement-before-and-after-the-plate" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172777.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">83</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">424</span> An Integer Nonlinear Program Proposal for Intermodal Transportation Service Network Design</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laaziz%20El%20Hassan">Laaziz El Hassan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Service Network Design Problem (SNDP) is a tactical issue in freight transportation firms. The existing formulations of the problem for intermodal rail-road transportation were not always adapted to the intermodality in terms of full asset utilization and modal shift reinforcement. The objective of the article is to propose a model having a more compliant formulation with intermodality, including constraints highlighting the imperatives of asset management, reinforcing modal shift from road to rail and reducing, by the way, road mode CO2 emissions. The model is a fixed charged, path based integer nonlinear program. Its objective is to minimize services total cost while ensuring full assets utilization to satisfy freight demand forecast. The model's main feature is that it gives as output both the train sizes and the services frequencies for a planning period. We solved the program using a commercial solver and discussed the numerical results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intermodal%20transport%20network" title="intermodal transport network">intermodal transport network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20network%20design" title=" service network design"> service network design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=model" title=" model"> model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20integer%20program" title=" nonlinear integer program"> nonlinear integer program</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=path-based" title=" path-based"> path-based</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20frequencies" title=" service frequencies"> service frequencies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modal%20shift" title=" modal shift"> modal shift</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146976/an-integer-nonlinear-program-proposal-for-intermodal-transportation-service-network-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146976.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">423</span> Tribological Behaviour Improvement of Lubricant Using Copper (II) Oxide Nanoparticles as Additive</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20A.%20Hassan">M. Various nanostructures can be used as additives for tribological improvement. However, this also depends on the characteristics of the nanoparticles. In this study, tribological investigation was performed to examine the effect of CuO nanoparticles on the tribological behaviour of Syntium 800 SL 10W−30. Three parameters used in the analysis using the wear tester (piston ring) were load, revolutions per minute (rpm), and concentration. The specifications of the nanoparticles, such as size, concentration, hardness, and shape, can affect the tribological behaviour of the lubricant. The friction and wear experiment was conducted using a tribo-tester and the Response Surface Methodology method was used to analyse any improvement of the performance. Therefore, two concentrations of 40 nm nanoparticles were used to conduct the experiments, namely, 0.005 wt % and 0.01 wt % and compared with base oil 0 wt % (control). A water bath sonicator was used to disperse the nanoparticles in base oil, while a tribo-tester was used to measure the coefficient of friction and wear rate. In addition, the thermal properties of the nanolubricant were also measured. The results have shown that the thermal conductivity of the nanolubricant was increased when compared with the base oil. Therefore, the results indicated that CuO nanoparticles had improved the tribological behaviour as well as the thermal properties of the nanolubricant oil. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=concentration" title="concentration">concentration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=improvement" title=" improvement"> improvement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tribological" title=" tribological"> tribological</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=copper%20%28II%29%20oxide" title=" copper (II) oxide"> copper (II) oxide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nano%20lubricant" title=" nano lubricant"> nano lubricant</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38109/tribological-behaviour-improvement-of-lubricant-using-copper-ii-oxide-nanoparticles-as-additive" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/38109.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">438</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">422</span> Lightweight Cryptographically Generated Address for IPv6 Neighbor Discovery </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amjed%20Sid%20Ahmed">Amjed Sid Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rosilah%20Hassan"> Rosilah Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nor%20Effendy%20Othman"> Nor Effendy Othman </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Limited functioning of the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) has necessitated the development of the Internetworking Protocol next generation (IPng) to curb the challenges. Indeed, the IPng is also referred to as the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and includes the Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP). The latter performs the role of Address Auto-configuration, Router Discovery (RD), and Neighbor Discovery (ND). Furthermore, the role of the NDP entails redirecting the service, detecting the duplicate address, and detecting the unreachable services. Despite the fact that there is an NDP’s assumption regarding the existence of trust the links’ nodes, several crucial attacks may affect the Protocol. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) therefore has recommended implementation of Secure Neighbor Discovery Protocol (SEND) to tackle safety issues in NDP. The SEND protocol is mainly used for validation of address rights, malicious response inhibiting techniques and finally router certification procedures. For routine running of these tasks, SEND utilizes on the following options, Cryptographically Generated Address (CGA), RSA Signature, Nonce and Timestamp option. CGA is produced at extra high costs making it the most notable disadvantage of SEND. In this paper a clear description of the constituents of CGA, its operation and also recommendations for improvements in its generation are given. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CGA" title="CGA">CGA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IPv6" title=" IPv6"> IPv6</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NDP" title=" NDP"> NDP</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SEND" title=" SEND"> SEND</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31309/lightweight-cryptographically-generated-address-for-ipv6-neighbor-discovery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31309.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">421</span> The Effectiveness of Environmental Policy Instruments for Promoting Renewable Energy Consumption: Command-and-Control Policies versus Market-Based Policies</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Hassan">Mahmoud Hassan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Understanding the impact of market- and non-market-based environmental policy instruments on renewable energy consumption (REC) is crucial for the design and choice of policy packages. This study aims to empirically investigate the effect of environmental policy stringency index (EPS) and its components on REC in 27 OECD countries over the period from 1990 to 2015, and then use the results to identify what the appropriate environmental policy mix should look like. By relying on the two-step system GMM estimator, we provide evidence that increasing environmental policy stringency as a whole promotes renewable energy consumption in these 27 developed economies. Moreover, policymakers are able, through the market- and non-market-based environmental policy instruments, to increase the use of renewable energy. However, not all of these instruments are effective for achieving this goal. The results indicate that R&D subsidies and trading schemes have a positive and significant impact on REC, while taxes, feed-in tariff and emission standards have not a significant effect. Furthermore, R&D subsidies are more effective than trading schemes for stimulating the use of clean energy. These findings proved to be robust across the three alternative panel techniques used. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20policy%20stringency" title="environmental policy stringency">environmental policy stringency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renewable%20energy%20consumption" title=" renewable energy consumption"> renewable energy consumption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=two-step%20system-GMM%20estimation" title=" two-step system-GMM estimation"> two-step system-GMM estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linear%20dynamic%20panel%20data%20model" title=" linear dynamic panel data model"> linear dynamic panel data model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144939/the-effectiveness-of-environmental-policy-instruments-for-promoting-renewable-energy-consumption-command-and-control-policies-versus-market-based-policies" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144939.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">420</span> ISIS after the Defeat of the Islamic Caliphate: The Rise of Cyber-Jihad</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Spyridon%20Plakoudas">Spyridon Plakoudas</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> After the capture of Al-Raqqah and the defeat of the short-lived Islamic Caliphate in 2017, everyone predicted the end of ISIS. However, ISIS proved far more resilient than initially thought. The militant group quickly regrouped from its defeat and started a low-intensity guerrilla campaign in central Iraq (near Kirkuk and Mosul) and north-eastern Syria (near Deir ez-Zorr). At the same time, ISIS doubled down on its cyber-campaign; actually, ISIS is as active on the cyber-domain as during the peak of its power in 2015. This paper, a spin-off paper from a co-authored book on the Syrian Civil War (due to be published by Rowman and Littlefield), intends to examine how ISIS operates in the cyber-domain and how this "Cyber-Caliphate" under re-construction is associated with its post-2017 strategy. This paper will draw on the discipline of War Studies (with an emphasis on Cyber-Security and Insurgency / Counter-Insurgency) and will benefit from the insights of interviewed experts on the field (e.g., Hassan Hasssan). This paper will explain how the successful operation of ISIS in the cyber-space preserves the myth of the “caliphate” amongst its worldwide followers (against the odds) and sustains the group’s ongoing insurgency in Syria and Iraq; in addition, this paper will suggest how this cyber-threat can be countered best. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ISIS" title="ISIS">ISIS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyber-jihad" title=" cyber-jihad"> cyber-jihad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syrian%20Civil%20War" title=" Syrian Civil War"> Syrian Civil War</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cyber-terrorism" title=" cyber-terrorism"> cyber-terrorism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insurgency%20and%20counter-insurgency" title=" insurgency and counter-insurgency"> insurgency and counter-insurgency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117835/isis-after-the-defeat-of-the-islamic-caliphate-the-rise-of-cyber-jihad" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/117835.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">134</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">419</span> Optimal Design Solution in &quot; The Small Module&quot; Within the Possibilities of Ecology, Environmental Science/Engineering, and Economics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hassan%20Wajid">Hassan Wajid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> We will commend accommodating an environmentally friendly architectural proposal that is extremely common/usual but whose features will make it a sustainable space. In this experiment, the natural and artificial built space is being proposed in such a way that deals with Environmental, Ecological, and Economic Criteria under different climatic conditions. Moreover, the criteria against ecology-environment-economics reflect in the different modules which are being experimented with and analyzed by multiple research groups. The ecological, environmental, and economic services are provided used as units of production side by side, resulting in local job creation and saving resources, for instance, conservation of rainwater, soil formation or protection, less energy consumption to achieve Net Zero, and a stable climate as a whole. The synthesized results from the collected data suggest several aspects to consider when designing buildings for beginning the design process under the supervision of instructors/directors who are responsible for developing curricula and sustainable goals. Hence, the results of the research and the suggestions will benefit the sustainable design through multiple results, heat analysis of different small modules, and comparisons. The brazen tubes were cut out of commercially available brazen circular tubes with the same length and diameter. Some of the specimens were filled with rubbers with three different shores and also, an empty tube was prepared. The specimens were axially compressed between two rigid plates in a quasi-static process using a Zwick testing machine. Load-displacement diagrams and energy absorption of the tested tubes were extracted from experimental data. The results show that filling the brazen tubes with rubber causes those to absorb more energy and the energy absorption of specimens are increased by increasing the shore of rubbers. In comparison to the empty tube, the first fold for the rubber-filled tubes occurs at lower load and it can be concluded that the rubber-filled tubes are better energy absorbers than the empty tubes. The process has been described in detail and is being used to produce dissimilar aluminum to copper foil single lap joints. A three dimensional finite element model has been developed to study the thermo-mechanical characteristics of the dissimilar Al/Cu single lap joint. The effects of thermal stress and strain have been analyzed by carrying out transient thermal analysis on the heated plates used to join the two 0.1mm thin metal foils. Tensile test has been carried out on the foils before joining and after the single Al/Cu lap joints are made, they are subjected to tensile lap-shear test to analyze the effect of heat on the foils. The analyses are designed to assess the mechanical integrity of the foils after the brazing process and understand whether or not the heat treatment has an effect on the fracture modes of the produced specimens. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brazing" title="brazing">brazing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laminated%20object%20manufacturing" title=" laminated object manufacturing"> laminated object manufacturing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20lap-shear%20test" title=" tensile lap-shear test"> tensile lap-shear test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermo-mechanical%20analysis" title=" thermo-mechanical analysis"> thermo-mechanical analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42202/thermo-mechanical-analysis-of-dissimilar-alcu-foil-single-lap-joints-made-by-composite-metal-foil-manufacturing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42202.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">342</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">416</span> Pressure Angle and Profile Shift Factor Effects on the Natural Frequency of Spur Tooth Design</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Raad%20Hassan">Ali Raad Hassan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, an (irregular) case relating to base circle, root circle, and pressure angle has been discussed and a computer programme has been developed to simulate and plot spur gear tooth profile, including involute and trochoid curves based on the formulation of rack cutter using different values of pressure angle and profile shift factor and it gave the values of all important geometric parameters. Finite elements model of these irregular cases have been built using above programme, and modal analysis has been done using ANSYS software, and natural frequencies of these selected cases have been obtained and discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=involute" title="involute">involute</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trochoid" title=" trochoid"> trochoid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pressure%20angle" title=" pressure angle"> pressure angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=profile%20shift%20factor" title=" profile shift factor"> profile shift factor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20frequency" title=" natural frequency"> natural frequency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88687/pressure-angle-and-profile-shift-factor-effects-on-the-natural-frequency-of-spur-tooth-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88687.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">272</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">415</span> Managing the Cognitive Load of Medical Students during Anatomy Lecture</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siti%20Nurma%20Hanim%20Hadie">Siti Nurma Hanim Hadie</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asma%E2%80%99%20Hassan"> Asma’ Hassan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zul%20Izhar%20Ismail"> Zul Izhar Ismail</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmad%20Fuad%20Abdul%20Rahim"> Ahmad Fuad Abdul Rahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohd.%20Zarawi%20Mat%20Nor"> Mohd. Despite its complexity, anatomy remains as the most important basic sciences subject with high clinical relevancy. Although anatomy knowledge is required for safe practice, many medical students graduated without having sufficient knowledge. In fact, anatomy knowledge among the medical graduates was reported to be declining and this had led to various medico-legal problems. Applying cognitive load theory (CLT) in anatomy teaching particularly lecture would be able to address this issue since anatomy information is often perceived as cognitively challenging material. CLT identifies three types of loads which are intrinsic, extraneous and germane loads, which combine to form the total cognitive load. CLT describe that learning can only occur when the total cognitive load does not exceed human working memory capacity. Hence, managing these three types of loads with the aim of optimizing the working memory capacity would be beneficial to the students in learning anatomy and retaining the knowledge for future application. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20load%20theory" title="cognitive load theory">cognitive load theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intrinsic%20load" title=" intrinsic load"> intrinsic load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=extraneous%20load" title=" extraneous load"> extraneous load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=germane%20load" title=" germane load"> germane load</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5321/managing-the-cognitive-load-of-medical-students-during-anatomy-lecture" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5321.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">466</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">414</span> Toxicity of Cymbopogon proximus (Maharaib) Oil Extract to Newzealand Rabbits</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20B.%20Amna">A. Other than the dose co-related mortality rates, the clinical signs were observed daily after dosing to be low appetite and nervous signs including restlessness and increased consciousness. Pulmonary excretion of the oil extract led to bloody spots on the lungs, lymphocyte infiltration, congestion and edema. Renal glumeruli manifested lymphocyte infiltration in addition to shrinkages and easinophilic material in the medulla, if considered with the corticomedullary generalized necrosis and the significant changes in urea, they can explain the renal dysfunction. Hepatic malfunction was manifested by significant changes in serum alkaline phosphatase and aspartate transferases accompanied by the congested, fatty changed livers. The direct physical effect of the extracted oil was detected by the catarrhal inflammation of the intestines. There was no significant haematological change except for the slight changes in RBCs and MCVs in rabbits given the highest dose. Future work for Cpmbopogon proximus oil extract was forwarded and practical implications of the result were highlighted. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
