Now He revealed <i>Himself</i> in this way: <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-2.htm"><b>2</b></a></span>Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, and the <i>sons</i> of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>Simon Peter says to them, “I am going to fish.”</p><p class="reg"> They say to him, “We also are coming with you.” They went forth and went up into the boat, and during that night they caught nothing. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Now morning already having come, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not know that it is Jesus. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>Therefore Jesus says to them, <span class="red">“Children do you have any food?”</span></p><p class="reg"> They answered Him, “No.” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And He said to them, <span class="red">“Cast the net to the right side of the boat, and you will find <i>some</i>.”</span> So they cast, and they were not able to haul it in from the multitude of the fish. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved says to Peter, “It is the Lord.” So Simon Peter, having heard that it is the Lord, put on the outer garment, (for he was naked), and he cast himself into the sea. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Now the other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net with the fish, for they were not far from the land, but about two hundred cubits away.<span class="fn"><a href="#fna" title="About 100 yards or 90 meters">a</a></span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>So when they got out onto the land, they see a fire of coals lying, and a fish lying on <i>it</i>, and bread. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>Jesus says to them, <span class="red">“Bring <i>some</i> of the fish that you have now caught.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>Therefore Simon Peter went up and drew the net to the land, full of large fish, a hundred fifty-three. Although there are so many, the net was not torn. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Jesus says to them, <span class="red">“Come, have breakfast.”</span> But none of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it is the Lord. <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>Jesus comes and takes the bread and gives <i>it</i> to them, and the fish likewise. </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>This <i>is</i> now the third time Jesus was revealed the disciples, having been raised out from <i>the</i> dead. </p><p class="hdg">Jesus Reinstates Peter</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>Therefore when they had dined, Jesus says to Simon Peter, <span class="red">“Simon <i>son</i> of John, do you love Me more than these?”</span></p><p class="reg"> He says to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I dearly love You.”</p><p class="reg"> He says to him, <span class="red">“Feed My lambs.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>He says to him again a second time, <span class="red">“Simon <i>son</i> of John, do you love Me?”</span></p><p class="reg"> He says to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I dearly love You.”</p><p class="reg"> He says to him, <span class="red">“Shepherd My sheep.”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>He says to him the third time, <span class="red">“Simon <i>son</i> of John, do you dearly love Me?”</span></p><p class="reg"> Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, <span class="red">“Do you dearly love Me?”</span></p><p class="reg"> And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I dearly love You.”</p><p class="reg"> Jesus says to him, <span class="red">“Feed My sheep.</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><span class="red">Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you dressed yourself and walked where you desired; but when you shall be old, you will stretch forth your hands, and another will dress you and will bring <i>you</i> where you do not desire.”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Now He said this signifying by what death he will glorify God.</p><p class="reg"> And having said this, He says to him, <span class="red">“Follow Me.”</span> </p><p class="hdg">Jesus and the Beloved Apostle</p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Having turned, Peter sees the disciple whom Jesus loved following, <i>the one</i> who also had reclined on His bosom at the supper and said, “Lord, who is it who is betraying You?” <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>Therefore having seen him, Peter says to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?” </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Jesus says to him, <span class="red">“If I desire him to remain until I come, what <i>is it</i> to you? You follow Me!”</span> <span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Therefore this saying went out among the brothers, that this disciple does not die. But Jesus had not said to him that he does not die, but, <span class="red">“If I desire him to remain until I come, what <i>is it</i> to you?”</span> </p><p class="reg"><span class="reftext"><a href="/john/21-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>This is the disciple bearing witness concerning these things, and the <i>one</i> having written these things.
