Their families are patriarchal, and they are distinguished by the respect that the children have towards their parents. They bedouin women are often beautiful, and they wear rich ornaments. They weave carpets and take great care of their dwellings. The bedouin men occupy themselves with work outside the home, using camels as their beasts of burden, though in recent years, the influence of the modern world has brought about certain changes in their habits.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><img class="pull-right" style="margin: 15px;" src="/images/images_Symeon/bedouins_DSC_0708.JPG" width="300" />They are hospitable, and celebrate feasts in honor of the Prophet Moses, the Prophet Aaron, the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint George, and Saint Catherine. In their weddings and in their funerals they preserve various traditions that extend to Christian customs. They often bring votive offerings in fulfillment of a vow to the shrines of Saint Catherine, of Saint George, or of the Holy Forty Martyrs. They often hold camel races in conjunction with the feast of the Prophet Moses in September, and of the Nativity of Christ in December.
