Currently, it is easy for a person to travel between member countries once he or she is already inside the European Union. These fringe parties are partially motivated to break away from the EU so they can control immigration.</p> <p>Many countries also argue that their money should be spent to help their own country rather than the entire EU. This is one of the major tenets of Austria's fringe party, the EU-Exit Party.</p> <h2>Austrian Politics</h2> <p>Austria's EU-Exit Party (EUAUS) leads the dialogue surrounding the possibility of Austria's leaving the European Union. The EUAUS party, founded in 2011 and led by Robert Marschall, pushes for an independent Austrian state. EUAUS asserts that the <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160710003526/http://www.investopedia.com/terms/e/euro.asp">euro</a> is heading toward a crash and that Austria should extricate itself from the EU as soon as possible, before this happens. It argues that Austria's money should be spent only on Austrian needs, rather than being used to help the entire EU.</p> <p>EUAUS has not gained much traction in Austria; due to its lack of funds, it was only able to participate in one of nine provincial races during the last parliamentary elections. However, EUAUS and similar parties in other countries are capitalizing on the success and publicity of Brexit to advance their own agendas and gain steam. The EUAUS party plans to run in Austria's 2019 elections.</p> <h2>Global Consequences</h2> <p>Brexit serves as an example of the reality of the European Union splitting and the consequences that can follow. The three major credit agencies, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160710003526/http://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sp.asp">Standard and Poor's</a>, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160710003526/http://www.investopedia.com/terms/m/moodys.asp">Moody's</a> and <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20160710003526/http://www.investopedia.com/terms/f/fitch-ratings.asp">Fitch</a> all downgraded the United Kingdom's credit rating immediately following the Brexit vote.
