Numerical Simulation Techniques</p> <p class="mb-1"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p class="mb-3"><div style="text-align:justify;"> The activity measurements of the artificiality and naturally occurring radionuclides have a great impact on life and the environment. This requires a γ-spectrometer of well-known efficiencies over a wide range of photon energies. The present work provides theoretical modeling approaches to determine the efficiency of the γ-ray detectors for different detector geometries with good accuracy to determine the concentrations of either naturally occurring or artificially prepared radionuclides samples. The theoretical approach to the detector efficiency is based on the numerical simulation techniques, the effective solid angles, the self-absorptions of the source matrix, the attenuation by the source container, and the detector housing materials. While, the calibration process can be done using radioactive sources in different shapes and different shapes like [Point, Disk, Cylindrical, Spherical, Parallelepiped and Marinelli … etc ], that turn out photons with a broad range of energies. Also, Such a theoretical approach can be verified and refined using experimental measurements.
