Since then, he helped engineer <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20100209010919/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netcom_%28USA%29">Netcom</a>, the first ISP in the United States, worked at DEC research lab in Palo Alto to build the secret back-end of the Internet (<a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20100209010919/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PAIX">PAIX</a>), and founded the billion-dollar <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20100209010919/http://www.equinix.com/">Equinix</a> [EQIX] which, if shut off, would screw up the Internet.</p> <p>Jay has testified before Congress and advised the government and other groups with his knowledge of the Internet's workings, and habitually speaks at industry events and conferences. His passions are dis-intermediation and toppling ancient and corrupt monopolies. </p> <p>As Chief Executive, Jay is responsible for leading the company to execute on the vision of democratizing the media and using humans to make sense of an ever-increasing overload of information. His primary tools to achieve this are an amazingly great staff, a cell phone and video chat. </p> <p>Jay spends a great deal of time trying to sucker <a
