The morning is frequently mentioned in both the Old and New Testaments, serving as a time of renewal, worship, and revelation.

Creation and Order

The Bible begins with the creation narrative, where God establishes the cycle of day and night. Genesis 1:5 states, "God called the light 'day,' and the darkness He called 'night.' And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day." This passage underscores the divine order and rhythm established by God, with morning marking the beginning of a new day.

Worship and Devotion

Morning is often associated with worship and devotion. In Psalm 5:3, David declares, "In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation." This verse highlights the practice of seeking God early in the day, setting a tone of reliance and expectation for His guidance and provision.

Divine Intervention and Deliverance

The morning is also a time when God's deliverance and intervention are revealed. In Exodus 14:27, during the crossing of the Red Sea, "Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea returned to its normal state." This miraculous event at morning signifies God's power to save and His timing in bringing about deliverance.

Renewal and Mercy

Lamentations 3:22-23 speaks to the renewal and mercy found each morning: "Because of the LORD’s loving devotion we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!" This passage reassures believers of God's constant and renewing mercy, available afresh with each new day.

Resurrection and Hope

The New Testament also associates morning with hope and resurrection. In Matthew 28:1, the resurrection of Jesus is discovered at dawn: "After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb." The morning of the resurrection signifies the ultimate new beginning and the hope of eternal life through Christ.

Symbol of Light and Truth

Morning is a symbol of light and truth, contrasting with darkness and ignorance. In 2 Peter 1:19, believers are encouraged to heed the prophetic word "as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts." This imagery emphasizes the transformative power of Christ's truth and the hope of His return.

Conclusion

Throughout Scripture, morning serves as a powerful metaphor for God's faithfulness, the renewal of His mercies, and the hope of new beginnings. It is a time for worship, reflection, and anticipation of God's work in the lives of His people.
Easton's Bible Dictionary
Star, Morning
A name figuratively given to Christ (Revelation 22:16; Comp. 2 Peter 1:19).
