So why do so many people still have uncontrolled blood pressure?<\/p>\r\n<p>Multiple factors play into this. The reality is that despite diagnostic advancements, it is estimated more than 50% of people are unaware they have hypertension.<sup>1<\/sup> For those who are diagnosed, low adherence to prescribed treatments is a large contributor to uncontrolled hypertension.<sup>7<\/sup> Additionally, treatment-resistant hypertension, a hypertension subtype, is also on the rise, impacting 10.3 million Americans.<sup>8<\/sup> This set of challenges can lead to inconsistent blood pressure control, increasing the risk of CVD and other related diseases, as well as premature death.<sup>1<\/sup>\u202fThis underscores the significant need for novel treatment approaches for hypertension to help reduce the associated burden and overcome the limitations of current therapies. Recent technological advances like siRNAs in dyslipidemia, which target previously unreachable mediators of hypertension, represent exciting new targets for novel medications.<\/p>\r\n<p>\u201cAt Roche and Genentech, we recognize that the complex interplay between CVRM diseases potentially offers the opportunity to manage these disorders using a far more holistic approach, rather than managing each disorder individually.
