Eski Çağ'da Sümer, Asur ve Mısır gibi uygarlıklarda görülen salgın hastalıklar, Hitit toplumunda geniş kitlelere yayılarak insan hayatını önemli ölçüde etkilemiştir. II. Muršili'nin salgına karşı yazdırdığı Veba Duaları; hastalığın ortaya çıkışı ve süreci hakkında bilgi veren en önemli kaynaktır. Bu dualarda II. Muršili, tanrılara yakarışta bulunarak hastalığın ülkeden uzaklaştırılmasını istemektedir. Hititler, salgınları dini nedenlere dayandırdıkları için hastalığı tıbbi bir tedavi yöntemiyle değil dini ritüeller ile önlemeye çalışmıştır. Hastalıkları din ile bağdaştırma inancı, salgının halk arasında daha hızlı yayılmasına ve uzun süreli olmasına neden olmuştur. İlk kez Hitit Kralı I. Šuppiluliuma döneminde ortaya çıkan ve kitlesel ölümlere neden olan bu hastalık, Hitit kaynaklarında henkan/hinkan şeklinde geçmektedir. Henkan kelimesi ise ölümcül hastalık veya veba anlamına gelmektedir. II. Muršili döneminde önemli bir yayılma hızına ulaşan veba salgını, ülkede yirmi yıl gibi uzun bir süre etkisini göstermiştir. II. Muršili döneminden sonra ise kaynaklarda salgın ile ilgili bir bilgiye rastlanmamıştır. Bu durum da hastalığın II. Muršili dönemiyle birlikte ülkeyi terk ettiğini düşündürmektedir. Yaşanan salgın hastalığın günümüzde bilinen veba ile aynı hastalık olup olmadığı ise bilinmemektedir. Fakat salgının ülkeye Mısırlı savaş esirleri tarafından getirildiği ihtimalinin güçlü olduğu kabul edilmektedir. Mısır'da yaşanan salgının belirtilerini değerlendirdiğimizde ise bölgede yaşanan hastalığın büyük olasılıkla veba olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmanın amacı; Mısır'da ve Hititlerde görülen salgının benzer ve farklı yönlerini ortaya koyarak hastalığın tanımlanması ile ilgili yeni bir bakış açısı oluşturmaktır. Bu hastalıklardan biri de şüphesiz veba olmuştur. Bu hastalığının tarih sahnesindeki serüveni eski dönemlere kadar dayanmaktadır. Milattan önce ve sonra olmak üzere veba hastalığından bahsedilmekte olup, dünya coğrafyasında Justinyen vebası, Kara veba ve Bombay vebası olmak üzere üç büyük veba salgını yaşanmıştır. Bu salgınlar insanları yalnızca fiziksel anlamda tahribata uğratmakla kalmamış, sosyolojik ve psikolojik anlamda derin izlerin oluşmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu sebeple, söz konusu çalışmada vebanın tarihsel ve sosyolojik analizi yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Böylece bir taraftan, bahse konu veba salgını hakkında tarihsel süreç ayrıntılarıyla incelenecekken, diğer taraftan bu süreçler üzerinden vebanın demografik, sosyal, kültürel, dini, ekonomik ve toplumsal yaşamda meydana getirdiği değişim ve dönüşümler sosyoloji perspektifiyle sistematik olarak ortaya koyulacaktır. Although the management of epidemic diseases is perceived as a medical phenomenon, it is obvious that it will not be successful unless it is supported by continuous and restrictive measures. Taking necessary precautions against epidemics, that became widespread especially in the 19th century with the development of capitalist market relations and threatened the existence of political power, has become the main priority of the modern state. Measures taken to protect the health of the population within this rationality, especially quarantine practices, have led to the strengthening of centralization and the establishment of health organizations. This study examines to how grew the state's political power in the period of epidemics that disturbing social order, from a historical perspective through the example of the UK, USA and Turkey, with a focus on Germany. Even in states such as the USA and the UK, where atomistic individualism based on neoliberal political thought and minimal state understanding are prevalent, centralization tendencies dominate during such crisis eras. In this context, it is argued in the study that epidemics are one of the leading factor that trigger centralization tendencies in government. The coronavirus epidemic has depicted that the state has mechanisms to use social control and surveillance more than ever, with the capabilities of digital technologies (such as smartphones, artificial intelligence-assisted software, taking temperature with drone, data analytics) to combat the virus. Participants were given online on the sociodemographic information form, questions about pet ownership and plant ownership, telephone use, Intolerence of Uncertainty Scale, Leisure Boredom Scale, and Impact of Events Scale. In the analysis of the data; bivariate correlation, independent samples t-test and linear regression analysis were used. Individuals who do not have pets have higher scores from Impact of Events Scale and Intolerence of Uncertainty Scale than who have pets. No difference was found between the scale scores of individuals with and without plants. According to the correlation analysis, there is a significant and positive relationship between all scales. According to the standardized regression coefficients of linear regression; the order of importance of the predictive variables on the effects of events was determined as intolerance of uncertainty, leisure boredom, home environment, time spent on the phone, socioeconomic level and use of twitter. The world is struggling with a pandemic outbreak. Results indicate that having a pet, living in a detached house, high socioeconomic level may be a protective factor and high levels of intolerance of uncertainty, leisure boredom, time spent on the phone and use of twitter may be a risk factor. This research was carried out using the exploratory sequential mixed method where qualitative and quantitative patterns were used consecutively. In Study 1, phenomenological design was preferred in order to discover and explain how Covid-19 phenomenon is experienced by individuals and its psychological reflections on their daily life. The data of the study were collected through an online focus group interview and open-ended questions sent to the participants via Internet. Study 1 included 30 participants (x ̅ =37,5), 14 females and 16 males. According to the results of the research the Covid-19 epidemic experience and the psychological reflections of the epidemic are explained in the themes of Meeting the Reality of the Coronavirüs-A Different Experience, Changing the Style of Life in Corona Days, Coping with Coronavirus Fear, and Post-Epidemic Growth. Due to the Covid-19 epidemic, social life, close relationships, and economic life of people have been adversely affected, and their life routines have changed. The risk of epidemics triggered individuals' emotions such as fear, anxiety, boredom, and anger. It was revealed that the participants used cognitive, transcendental, relational, and behavioral coping strategies to deal with the fear of pandemic. It has also been observed that the Covid-19 pandemic has led to positive progress in participants' lives such as self-awareness, self-development, positive relationship and a calm/regular life. In Study 2, it is aimed to develop the Coping with the Outbreak Scale and to examine its psychometric properties. Study 2 included 484 participants (x ̅ =27,8). Based on the literature searches and the Pandemic Coping theme emerged in Study 1, the scale items were written, and validity and reliability were started by getting expert viewpoints. As a result of the analysis, it was seen that the Coping with the Outbreak Scale was a valid and reliable measurement tool. When findings of the study were analyzed in terms of gender variable, the cognitive coping and transcendental coping sub-dimensions and Fear of Covid-19 Scale scores of women were found to be significantly higher compared to men. Method: 668 subjects were chosen randomly to represent the province of Malatya in this cross-sectional study. A psychotic patient scenario was presented to subjects and some questions about explanatory model and helpseeking process were asked regarding the illness scenario. The definition of the case, explanatory styles, helpseeking behaviors and help sources were compared with sociodemographic and clinical variables by chi square test. Results: Our sample group described the psychotic case in the scenario as "has psychological problems" at a rate of 69.2% and as "sick" 12.9%. As a causal factor, 60.9% of the sample suggested social problems. Medical treatment was the first help seeking way. Primary school graduates recommended the popular help-seeking ways more than high school and university graduates (p<0.02). Some socially disadvantegous conditions such as being women, widow, low income, directed individuals more towards supernatural healing methods. Conclusion: Our people have a tendency about medical help-seeking for psychotic conditions.
