The submissions included temporal distribution from Government wildlife captive farms, zoo, and private ownerships, over a three year period (2007-2009). The most common cause of death was found to be trauma (20.27%), followed by parasitic diseases (15.67%), bacterial diseases (11.98%), stillbirths (9.21%), snakebites (2.76%), gut affections (2.30%), neoplasia (1.38%) and starvation (0.92%). The exact cause of death could not be determined in 77 of 217 animals. Pneumonia (8.29%) and tuberculosis (3.69%) were the most common bacterial diseases. Analyses for parasitic infestation revealed tapeworms to be highest (11.05%), followed by roundworms (8.29%) and hemoparasitism (5.07%) (babesiosis and theileriosis). The mortality rate in young ungulates was lower as compared to adults (32.26% and 67.74%). Gender wise data presented higher mortality in females (55.30%) compared to males (44.70%). In conclusion, highest mortality factor in captive ungulates was trauma, followed by parasitic and bacterial infestations/infections of tapeworms and pneumonia, respectively. Furthermore, necropsies provided substantial information on etiology of death and other related epidemiological aspects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=age" title="age">age</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=epidemiology" title=" epidemiology"> epidemiology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gender" title=" gender"> gender</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mortality" title=" mortality"> mortality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ungulates" title=" ungulates"> ungulates</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24506/descriptive-epidemiology-of-mortality-in-certain-species-of-captive-deer-in-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/24506.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">471</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">87</span> Biometry and Pathology of Internal Genital Organs of Female Camel (Camelus dromedarius) in Lahore, Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umair%20Riaz">Umair Riaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mudassar%20Iqbal"> Mudassar Iqbal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umer%20Farooq"> Umer Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farah%20Ali"> Farah Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Musadiq%20Idris"> Musadiq Idris</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present work was designed to establish biometrical norms for ovaries, oviducts and crevices of one humped camels (Camelus dromedarius) and the diseases associated thereof in various age groups viz. calves (< 2 years, n=15), heifers (2-4 years, n=34) and adults (> 4 years, n=81). The genitalia were attained from Lahore Abbatoir, Punjab, Pakistan. Ovaries, oviducts and cervices of experimental genitalia were assessed for their length, width, thickness and weight. Statistically, there was no difference in the length and width of both left and right ovaries which however, increased with the advancement of age of camel. Similar results were noticed regarding the width of oviducts. The mean length of cervices of female camels correlated well with the number of cervical annular rings amongst the age groups. Regarding the abnormalities of ovaries and cervices in the 3 age groups, camel calves did not have any of the abnormalities. However, ovarian hypoplasia in heifers (2.94%) and follicular cyst in adult female camels (1.23%) were revealed in the present study. Mucocervix in heifers (2.96%) and cervicitis 1.23% in adult camels was also noticed. The present work presents a preliminary data on biometrical analysis for one humped camels and envisages a broader study with increased population and sample size. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=camelus%20dromedarius" title="camelus dromedarius">camelus dromedarius</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pathology" title=" pathology"> pathology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biometry" title=" biometry"> biometry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=female%20genital%20tract" title=" female genital tract"> female genital tract</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26621/biometry-and-pathology-of-internal-genital-organs-of-female-camel-camelus-dromedarius-in-lahore-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26621.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">591</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">86</span> A Next Generation Multi-Scale Modeling Theatre for in silico Oncology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Safee%20Chaudhary">Safee Chaudhary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahnoor%20Naseer%20Gondal"> Mahnoor Naseer Gondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hira%20Anees%20Awan"> Hira Anees Awan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdul%20Rehman"> Abdul Rehman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ammar%20Arif"> Ammar Arif</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Risham%20Hussain"> Risham Hussain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huma%20Khawar"> Huma Khawar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zainab%20Arshad"> Zainab Arshad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Faizyab%20Ali%20Chaudhary"> Muhammad Faizyab Ali Chaudhary</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Waleed%20Ahmed"> Waleed Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Umer%20Sultan"> Muhammad Umer Sultan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bibi%20Amina"> Bibi Amina</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salaar%20Khan"> Salaar Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Moaz%20Ahmad"> Muhammad Moaz Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Osama%20Shiraz%20Shah"> Osama Shiraz Shah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hadia%20Hameed"> Hadia Hameed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Farooq%20Ahmad%20Butt"> Muhammad Farooq Ahmad Butt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Ahmad"> Muhammad Ahmad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sameer%20Ahmed"> Sameer Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fayyaz%20Ahmed"> Fayyaz Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Omer%20Ishaq"> Omer Ishaq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Waqar%20Nabi"> Waqar Nabi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wim%20Vanderbauwhede"> Wim Vanderbauwhede</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bilal%20Wajid"> Bilal Wajid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Huma%20Shehwana"> Huma Shehwana</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Tariq"> Muhammad Tariq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amir%20Faisal"> Amir Faisal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cancer is a manifestation of multifactorial deregulations in biomolecular pathways. These deregulations arise from the complex multi-scale interplay between cellular and extracellular factors. Such multifactorial aberrations at gene, protein, and extracellular scales need to be investigated systematically towards decoding the underlying mechanisms and orchestrating therapeutic interventions for patient treatment. In this work, we propose ‘TISON’, a next-generation web-based multiscale modeling platform for clinical systems oncology. TISON’s unique modeling abstraction allows a seamless coupling of information from biomolecular networks, cell decision circuits, extra-cellular environments, and tissue geometries. The platform can undertake multiscale sensitivity analysis towards in silico biomarker identification and drug evaluation on cellular phenotypes in user-defined tissue geometries. Furthermore, integration of cancer expression databases such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Human Proteome Atlas (HPA) facilitates in the development of personalized therapeutics. TISON is the next-evolution of multiscale cancer modeling and simulation platforms and provides a ‘zero-code’ model development, simulation, and analysis environment for application in clinical settings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20oncology" title="systems oncology">systems oncology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancer%20systems%20biology" title=" cancer systems biology"> cancer systems biology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancer%20therapeutics" title=" cancer therapeutics"> cancer therapeutics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personalized%20therapeutics" title=" personalized therapeutics"> personalized therapeutics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cancer%20modelling" title=" cancer modelling"> cancer modelling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112569/a-next-generation-multi-scale-modeling-theatre-for-in-silico-oncology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112569.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">222</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">85</span> A Pathway to Sustainable Agriculture through Protection and Propagation of Indigenous Livestock Breeds of Pakistan-Cholistani Cattle as a Case Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Umer%20Farooq">Umer Farooq</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present work is being presented with a general aim of highlighting the role of protection/propagation of indigenous breeds of livestock in an area as a sustainable tool for poverty alleviation. Specifically, the aim is to introduce a formerly neglected Cholistani breed of cattle being reared by the Cholistani desert nomads of Pakistan. The said work will present a detaile account of research work conducted during the last five years by the author. Furthermore, it will present the performance (productive and reproductive traits) of this breed as being reared under various nomadic systems of the desert. Results will be deducted on the basis of the research work conducted on Cholistani cattle and keeping abreast the latest reforms being provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and World Initiative to Support Pastoralism (WISP) of the UN. The timely attention towards the protection and propagation of this neglected breed of cattle will pave a smoother way towards poverty alleviation of rural/suburban areas and a successful sustainable agriculture in low input production systems such as Pakistan. The 15 recognized indigenous breeds of cattle constitute 43% of the total livestock population in Pakistan and belong to Zebu cattle. These precious breeds are currently under threat and might disappear even before proper documentation until and unless streamlined efforts are diverted towards them. This horrific state is due to many factors such as epidemic diseases, urbanization, indiscriminate crossing with native stock, misdirected cross breeding with exotic stock/semen, inclined livestock systems from extensive (subsistence) to intensive (commercial), lack of valuation of local breeds, decreasing natural resources, environmental degradation and global warming. Hefty work has been documented on many aspects of Sahiwal and Red Sindhi breeds of cattle in their respective local climates which have rightly gained them an international fame as being the vital tropical milk breeds of Pakistan. However, many other indigenous livestock breeds such as Cholistani cattle being reared under pastoral systems of Cholistan are yet unexplored. The productive and reproductive traits under their local climatic conditions need to be studied and the future researches may be streamlined to manipulate their indigenous potential. The timely attention will pave a smoother way towards poverty alleviation of rural/suburban areas and a successful sustainable agriculture in low input production systems. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Cholistan%20desert" title="Cholistan desert">Cholistan desert</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pakistan" title=" Pakistan"> Pakistan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indigenous%20cattle" title=" indigenous cattle"> indigenous cattle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sahiwal%20cattle" title=" Sahiwal cattle"> Sahiwal cattle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pastoralism" title=" pastoralism"> pastoralism</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6973/a-pathway-to-sustainable-agriculture-through-protection-and-propagation-of-indigenous-livestock-breeds-of-pakistan-cholistani-cattle-as-a-case-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6973.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">556</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">84</span> Financial Ethics: A Review of 2010 Flash Crash</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Omer%20Farooq">Omer Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Salman%20Ahmed%20Khan"> Salman Ahmed Khan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sadaf%20Khalid"> Sadaf Khalid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modern day stock markets have almost entirely became automated. Service Performance and Quality intervene between supply chain actors including functions inside the firm in a significant way for the supply chain to achieve a competitive position in the market to gain competitive advantage. Supply Chain competitiveness is the current issue of interest because of supply chains’ competition for competitive advantage rather than firms’. In 2019, Prime Minister Boris Johnson sought to prorogue parliament to prevent it from debating withdrawal from the UK. In 2022, Pakistan's Prime Minister also tried to nullify the ability of parliament to vote on the constitutional mechanism of a no-confidence vote. In both cases, the apex courts intervened and restored the supremacy of Parliament, averting constitutional crises. This paper examines the legitimacy and power of said courts to intervene in sensitive political and constitutional questions. The research focuses on the administrative law area of judicial review. It examines how in UK and Pakistan practice of judicial review helps mediate constitutional deadlocks between institutions comparatively. In this study, we explore the potential of machine learning in tongue diagnosis. It begins with the cataloguing of the various classifications and characteristics of the human tongue. We infer 24 kinds of tongues from the material and coating of the tongue, and we identify 21 attributes of the tongue. The next step is to apply machine learning methods to the tongue dataset. We use the Weka machine learning platform to conduct the experiment for performance analysis. The 457 instances of the tongue dataset are used to test the performance of five different machine learning methods, including SVM, Random Forests, Decision Trees, and Naive Bayes. Based on accuracy and Area under the ROC Curve, the Support Vector Machine algorithm was shown to be the most effective for tongue diagnosis (AUC). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medical%20imaging" title="medical imaging">medical imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=image%20retrieval" title=" image retrieval"> image retrieval</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tongue" title=" tongue"> tongue</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176849/tongue-image-retrieval-based-using-machine-learning" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/176849.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">76</span> Effect of Chemicals on Keeping Quality and Vase Life of Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) The data was gathered from different establishments of Kasur, through appropriate permission from their heads, and processed to design different alternative projects for installation of a thermal power plant in the city of Kasur. A technique of discounted cash flow was used to evaluate alternative projects so that their Benefit to Cost Ratio, Net Present Value, Internal Rate of Return and Payback Period can be determined. The study revealed that Kasur City currently consumes 18MWh electricity and generates 179 tons/day MSW. The generated waste has the ability to produce 2.1MWh electricity at the cost of USD 0.0581/unit with an expenditure of USD 3,907,692 as initial fixed investment of forming about 1/7th of consumption of Kasur. The cost from this source, when compared to current rate of electricity in Pakistan (USD 0.1346), is roughly half. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kasur%20City" title="Kasur City">Kasur City</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=resource%20recovery" title=" resource recovery"> resource recovery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermoelectric%20power" title=" thermoelectric power"> thermoelectric power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=waste%20management" title=" waste management"> waste management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100493/utilization-of-municipal-solid-waste-in-thermal-power-production-a-techno-economic-study-of-kasur-city-punjab-pakistan" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/100493.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">170</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">72</span> Effect of Sintering Temperature on Transport Properties of Garnet-Type Solid-State Electrolytes for Energy Storage Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=U.%20Farooq">U. The objective to carry out this research was to observe the effect of temperature on porosity, density and transport properties of materials. Preliminary results suggest that the material sintered at higher temperature could show enhanced performance in terms of fast ionic transport. This enhancement in performance can be attributed to low porosity of materials which is result of high temperature sintering. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20state%20battery" title="solid state battery">solid state battery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrolyte" title=" electrolyte"> electrolyte</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=garnet%20structures" title=" garnet structures"> garnet structures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Li-ion%20battery" title=" Li-ion battery"> Li-ion battery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42973/effect-of-sintering-temperature-on-transport-properties-of-garnet-type-solid-state-electrolytes-for-energy-storage-systems" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/42973.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">274</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">71</span> Modeling of System Availability and Bayesian Analysis of Bivariate Distribution</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Farooq">Muhammad Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahtasham%20Gul"> Ahtasham Gul</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> To meet the desired standard, it is important to monitor and analyze different engineering processes to get desired output. Basic statistical characteristics of marginal distribution, like mean median and quantile function, are discussed. We use inverse Gamma prior to study its frequentist properties by conducting Monte Carlo Markov Chain (MCMC) sampling scheme. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reliability" title="reliability">reliability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=system%20availability%20Weibull" title=" system availability Weibull"> system availability Weibull</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inverse%20Lomax" title=" inverse Lomax"> inverse Lomax</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monte%20Carlo%20Markov%20Chain" title=" Monte Carlo Markov Chain"> Monte Carlo Markov Chain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bayesian" title=" Bayesian"> Bayesian</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158945/modeling-of-system-availability-and-bayesian-analysis-of-bivariate-distribution" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158945.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">71</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">70</span> Stabilizing a Failed Slope in Islamabad, Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Umer%20Zubair">Muhammad Umer Zubair</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamran%20Akhtar"> Kamran Akhtar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Arsalan%20Khan"> Muhammad Arsalan Khan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper is based on a research carried out on a failed slope in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Phase I, Islamabad. Non-urgent patient visits pose a serious concern to the treatment, patient triage, and resources available. Aims and Objectives: We conducted a retrospective case-control study of the emergency department patient list from October 2019 to November 2022. A total of 839 patients formed part of the study. Somatic complaints, vital signs, diagnostic test results, admission to the hospital, etc., were some of the criteria used for the categorization of patients. Results: The proportion of non-urgent visits varied from 7.2% to 43%, with a median of 21%. Somatic complaints were the least associated with further hospital admissions (n=28%), while diagnostic test results were the most significant indicator of further hospital admissions (n=74%). Effective triage helped minimize emergency department admissions by 36%. Conclusion: Our study shows that effective triaging, patient counselling, and round-the-clock consumable monitoring helped in the effective management of patients admitted and also significantly helped provide treatment to the patients most in need. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urgent%20visits" title="urgent visits">urgent visits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-urgent%20visits" title=" non-urgent visits"> non-urgent visits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=traiging" title=" traiging"> traiging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20department%20admissions" title=" emergency department admissions"> emergency department admissions</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161095/audit-of-urgent-and-non-urgent-patient-visits-to-the-emergency-a-case-control-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/161095.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">112</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">67</span> A Brain Controlled Robotic Gait Trainer for Neurorehabilitation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Qazi%20Umer%20Jamil">Qazi Umer Jamil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abubakr%20Siddique"> Abubakr Siddique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mubeen%20Ur%20Rehman"> Mubeen Ur Rehman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nida%20Aziz"> Nida Aziz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohsin%20I.%20Tiwana"> Mohsin I. Patients suffering from Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) become unable to execute motion control of their lower proximities due to degeneration of spinal cord neurons. The presented approach can help SCI patients in neuro-rehabilitation training by directly translating patient motor imagery into walkers motion commands and thus bypassing spinal cord neurons completely. A non-invasive EEG based brain-computer interface is used for capturing patient neural activity. For signal processing and classification, an open source software (OpenVibe) is used. Classifiers categorize the patient motor imagery (MI) into a specific set of commands that are further translated into walker motion commands. The robotic walker also employs fall detection for ensuring safety of patient during gait training and can act as a support for SCI patients. The gait trainer is tested with subjects, and satisfactory results were achieved. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=brain%20computer%20interface%20%28BCI%29" title="brain computer interface (BCI)">brain computer interface (BCI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gait%20trainer" title=" gait trainer"> gait trainer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spinal%20cord%20injury%20%28SCI%29" title=" spinal cord injury (SCI)"> spinal cord injury (SCI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neurorehabilitation" title=" neurorehabilitation"> neurorehabilitation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107088/a-brain-controlled-robotic-gait-trainer-for-neurorehabilitation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/107088.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">161</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">66</span> Effect of Compaction and Degree of Saturation on the Unconsolidated Undrained Shear Strength of Sandy Clay</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatima%20Mehmood">Fatima Mehmood</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khalid%20Farooq"> Khalid Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rabeea%20Bakhtawer"> Rabeea Bakhtawer</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> For geotechnical engineers, one of the most important properties of soil to consider in various stability analyses is its shear strength which is governed by a number of factors. The objective of this research is to ascertain the effect of compaction and degree of saturation on the shear strength of fine-grained soil. For this purpose, three different dry densities such as in-situ, maximum standard proctor, and maximum modified proctor, were determined for the sandy clay soil. The soil samples were then prepared to keep dry density constant and varying degrees of saturation. These samples were tested for (UU) unconsolidated undrained shear strength in triaxial compression tests. The decrease in shear strength was observed with the decrease in density and increase in the saturation. The values of the angle of internal friction followed the same trend. However, the change in cohesion with the increase in saturation showed a different behavior, analogous to the compaction curve. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=compaction" title="compaction">compaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=degree%20of%20saturation" title=" degree of saturation"> degree of saturation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dry%20density" title=" dry density"> dry density</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=geotechnical%20investigation" title=" geotechnical investigation"> geotechnical investigation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laboratory%20testing" title=" laboratory testing"> laboratory testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=shear%20strength" title=" shear strength"> shear strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112365/effect-of-compaction-and-degree-of-saturation-on-the-unconsolidated-undrained-shear-strength-of-sandy-clay" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/112365.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">137</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">65</span> A Development of a Conceptual Framework for Safety Culture and Safety Risk Assessment: The Case of Chinese International Construction Projects under the “New Belt and Road” Initiative in Africa</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bouba%20Oumarou%20Aboubakar">Bouba Oumarou Aboubakar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=HongXia%20Li"> HongXia Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sardar%20Annes%20Farooq"> Sardar Annes Farooq</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The Belt and Road Initiative’s success strongly depends on the safety of all the million workers on construction projects sites. As the new BRI is directed toward Africa and meets a completely different culture from the Chinese project managers, maintaining low risk for workers risks shall be closely related to cultural sharing and mutual understanding. This is why this work introduces a cultural-wise safety management framework for Chinese Construction projects in Africa. The theoretical contribution of this paper is an improved risk assessment framework that integrates language, culture and difficulty of controlling risk factors into one approach. Practically, this study provides not only a useful tool for project safety management practitioners but the full understanding of all risks that may arise in the BRI projects in Africa. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cultural-wise" title="cultural-wise">cultural-wise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20culture" title=" safety culture"> safety culture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20assessment" title=" risk assessment"> risk assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20construction" title=" Chinese construction"> Chinese construction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BRI%20projects" title=" BRI projects"> BRI projects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Africa" title=" Africa"> Africa</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174525/a-development-of-a-conceptual-framework-for-safety-culture-and-safety-risk-assessment-the-case-of-chinese-international-construction-projects-under-the-new-belt-and-road-initiative-in-africa" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/174525.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">107</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">64</span> The Discourse Analysis of Friday Sermons in Pakistan: A Social Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Hamid%20Farooq%20Bukhari">Syed Hamid Farooq Bukhari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study intends to clarify the Friday sermon by evaluating the formation of its discourse, the composition, and selection of its subject matters, the structure, and functions of its rules as well as the outline of its communication proceeds, and the distinctiveness of its words along with definite provisions. Scouring has been linked to catastrophic failures that lead into the loss of human lives. Various techniques have been employed to extenuate the scouring process in order to assist the bridge designs. Pier modifications plays vital role to control scouring at the vicinity of the pier. This experimental study aims at monitoring the effectiveness of pier modification and temporal development of scour depth around a bridge pier by providing a collar, a cable or openings under the same flow conditions. Provision of a collar around the octagonal pier reduced more scour depth than that for other two configurations. Providing a collar around the octagonal pier found to be the best in reducing scour. The scour depth in front of pier was found to be 19.5% less than that at the octagonal pier without any modifications. Similarly, the scour depth around the octagonal pier having provision of a cable was less than that at pier with provision of openings. The scour depth around an octagonal pier was also compared with a plain circular pier and found to be 9.1% less. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Scour" title="Scour">Scour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=octagonal%20pier" title=" octagonal pier"> octagonal pier</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=collar" title=" collar"> collar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cable" title=" cable"> cable</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56625/influence-of-pier-modification-techniques-for-reducing-scour-around-bridge-piers" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/56625.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">265</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">62</span> Impact of Brand Origin on Brand Loyalty: A Case of Personal Care Products in Pakistan</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aimen%20Batool%20Bint-E-Rashid">Aimen Batool Bint-E-Rashid</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Syed%20Muhammad%20Dawood%20Ali%20Shah"> Syed Muhammad Dawood Ali Shah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20Usman%20Farooq"> Muhammad Usman Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahgul%20Anwar"> Mahgul Anwar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> As the world is progressing, the needs and demands of the consumer market are also changing. However, some factors contribute to a decline in crop quality and a reduction in overall output. One of the main factors contributing to this decline is the presence of weed and its late detection. This process of detection is manual and demands a detailed inspection to be done by the farmer itself. But by the time detection of weed, the farmer will be able to save its cost and can increase the overall production. The focus of this research is to identify and classify the four main types of weeds (Small-Flowered Cranesbill, Chick Weed, Prickly Acacia, and Black-Grass) that are prevalent in our region’s major crops. In this work, we implemented three different deep learning techniques: YOLO-v5, Inception-v3, and Deep CNN on the same Dataset, and have concluded that deep convolutions neural network performed better with an accuracy of 97.45% for such classification. In relative to the state of the art, our proposed approach yields 2% better results. We devised the architecture in an efficient way such that it can be used in real-time. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deep%20convolution%20networks" title="deep convolution networks">deep convolution networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yolo" title=" Yolo"> Yolo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=machine%20learning" title=" machine learning"> machine learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agriculture" title=" agriculture"> agriculture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169359/weed-classification-using-a-two-dimensional-deep-convolutional-neural-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/169359.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">60</span> Impact of Social Media Usage and Psychological Absenteeism at Workplace on Job Performance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Quaid%20Farooq">Quaid Farooq</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zainab%20Mujtaba"> Zainab Mujtaba</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main aim of this paper was to conduct a research regarding social media usage, psychological absenteeism and job performance at workplace in Pakistan. This research examined the effects of social media usage and psychological absenteeism at workplace on job performance of employees. It was a popular belief that social media usage and psychological absenteeism at workplace have a negative relation with job performance. However, to date there was no study to support this argument, and this compelled us to choose this topic and find out the results. Secondly, this research also found effect of social media usage on psychological absenteeism. Despite the theoretical appeal of these variables and significance in today’s workplace environment, no previous study has investigated the relationship between them in detail. Data was collected from a sample (N = 100 paired responses) of employees and supervisors from different organizations in Pakistan. Study results indicate that performance is negatively related to psychological absenteeism, and such individuals were rated as exhibiting low performance level by their supervisors. However, it had no significant relationship with social media. Moreover, psychological absenteeism was positively related to social media. Individuals, who used more social media at workplace, were more psychologically absent at work according to our results. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=employee" title="employee">employee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=job%20performance" title=" job performance"> job performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychological%20absenteeism" title=" psychological absenteeism"> psychological absenteeism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=social%20media" title=" social media"> social media</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52927/impact-of-social-media-usage-and-psychological-absenteeism-at-workplace-on-job-performance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/52927.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">389</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">59</span> Comparison between Post- and Oxy-Combustion Systems in a Petroleum Refinery Unit Using Modeling and Optimization </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farooq%20A.%20Al-Sheikh">Farooq A. Modeling and optimization of FCCU were done by many researchers in past decades, but in this research, comparison between post- and oxy-combustion was studied in the regenerator-FCCU. Therefore, a simplified mathematical model was derived by doing mass/heat balances around both reactor and regenerator. A state space analysis was employed to show effects of the flow rates variables such as air, feed, spent catalyst, regenerated catalyst and flue gas on the output variables. The main aim of studying dynamic responses is to figure out the most influencing variables that affect both reactor/regenerator temperatures; also, finding the upper/lower limits of the influencing variables to ensure that temperatures of the reactors and regenerator work within normal operating conditions. Therefore, those values will be used as side constraints in the optimization technique to find appropriate operating regimes. The objective functions were modeled to be maximizing the energy in the reactor while minimizing the energy consumption in the regenerator. In conclusion, an oxy-combustion process can be used instead of a post-combustion one. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
