for Migratory Species (2015-2023)</h3> <p>The 10th meeting of the CMS Conference of the Parties COP10 (Resolution 10.5) decided to develop a new Strategic Plan for the period 2015-2023 and, confirming the need for inter-sessional work on its elaboration, decided to set up a Working Group. This Working Group was established in early 2012 to start drafting a new Strategic Plan for Migratory Species for the period 2015-2023, to be presented to the 11th meeting of the CMS COP in late 2014.</p> <p>In 2012, stakeholders’ initial views were gathered and background reports prepared on lessons learned from implementation of the current Strategic Plan 2006-2014, as well as ideas on the content of the future Plan.</p> <p>The Working Group agreed at its first meeting that the future Plan will be drafted for migratory species in general, to focus on conservation issues – as a Strategic Plan for Migratory Species. It will therefore support the entire CMS Family as well as serve as a guiding framework for all of those working towards the conservation of migratory species. It will be based on the approach used in the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and its Aichi Biodiversity Targets.</p> <p>The new Strategic Plan will provide a clear, common agenda for all to work to - the vision, leadership and driving force for achievements for migratory species’ conservation!</p> <p>All Parties and other stakeholders are highly encouraged to engage in this important exercise of preparing the Plan.</p> <p>The latest draft of the Strategic Plan can be accessed <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20140823061745/http://www.cms.int/en/document/strategic-plan-migratory-species-2015-2023-consultation-draft-2-march-2014" target="_blank">here</a>.</p> <h3>Contact</h3> <p>For questions about the above process, you can contact Anne Sutton at the CMS Secretariat.
