The change in end users has forced logistics networks to focus on customer service and sentiment that would have previously been the priority of the company or organization of origin. This has led to increased pressure on logistics companies to extend traditional B2B networks into a B2C solution while accommodating additional costs, roadblocks, and customer sentiment; the result has been the creation of the omnichannel delivery network encompassing a number of traditional and modern methods of package delivery. In this paper the many solutions within the omnichannel delivery network are defined and discussed. It can be seen through this analysis that the omnichannel delivery network can be applied to reduce the complexity of package delivery and provide customers with more options. Applied correctly the result is a reduction in cost to the logistics company over time, even with an initial increase in cost to obtain the technology. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network%20planning" title="network planning">network planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=last%20mile%20delivery" title=" last mile delivery"> last mile delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=omnichannel%20delivery%20network" title=" omnichannel delivery network"> omnichannel delivery network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=omnichannel%20logistics" title=" omnichannel logistics"> omnichannel logistics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134544/analysis-of-the-omnichannel-delivery-network-with-application-to-last-mile-delivery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134544.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">150</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1956</span> Release Management with Continuous Delivery: A Case Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Maruf%20Aytekin">A. One of the key practices of agile and lean teams is the continuous delivery of new features to stakeholders. The main benefits of this approach lie in the ability to release new applications rapidly which has real strategic impact on the competitive advantage of an organization. Organizations that successfully implement Continuous Delivery have the ability to evolve rapidly to support innovation, provide stable and reliable software in more efficient ways, decrease the amount of resources need for maintenance, and lower the software delivery time and costs. One of the objectives of this paper is to elaborate a case study where IT division of Central Securities Depository Institution (MKK) of Turkey apply Continuous Delivery pattern to improve release management process. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automation" title="automation">automation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20delivery" title=" continuous delivery"> continuous delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=deployment" title=" deployment"> deployment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=release%20management" title=" release management"> release management</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10343/release-management-with-continuous-delivery-a-case-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10343.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">256</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1955</span> Structuring and Visualizing Healthcare Claims Data Using Systems Architecture Methodology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Inas%20S.%20Khayal">Inas S. The need to improve health outcomes while decreasing healthcare costs have led to an imminent call to action to transform the healthcare delivery system. While Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering have primarily focused on biological level data and biomedical technology, there is clear evidence of the importance of the delivery of care on patient outcomes. Classic singular decomposition approaches from reductionist science are not capable of explaining complex systems. Approaches and methods from systems science and systems engineering are utilized to structure healthcare delivery system data. Specifically, systems architecture is used to develop a multi-scale and multi-dimensional characterization of the healthcare delivery system, defined here as the Healthcare Delivery System Knowledge Base. This paper is the first to contribute a new method of structuring and visualizing a multi-dimensional and multi-scale healthcare delivery system using systems architecture in order to better understand healthcare delivery. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20informatics" title="health informatics">health informatics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20thinking" title=" systems thinking"> systems thinking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=systems%20architecture" title=" systems architecture"> systems architecture</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthcare%20delivery%20system" title=" healthcare delivery system"> healthcare delivery system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20analytics" title=" data analytics"> data analytics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69032/structuring-and-visualizing-healthcare-claims-data-using-systems-architecture-methodology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69032.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">348</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1954</span> The Application of Lean-Kaizen in Course Plan and Delivery in Malaysian Higher Education Sector</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nur%20Aishah%20Binti%20Awi">Nur Aishah Binti Awi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zulfiqar%20Khan"> Zulfiqar Khan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Lean-kaizen has always been applied in manufacturing sector since many years ago. What about education sector? This paper discuss on how lean-kaizen can also be applied in education sector, specifically in academic area of Malaysian’s higher education sector. The purpose of this paper is to describe the application of lean kaizen in course plan and delivery. Lean-kaizen techniques have been used to identify waste in the course plan and delivery. A field study has been conducted to obtain the data. This study used both quantitative and qualitative data. The researcher had interviewed the chosen lecturers regarding to the problems of course plan and delivery that they encountered. Secondary data of students’ feedback at the end of semester also has been used to improve course plan and delivery. The result empirically shows that lean-kaizen helps to improve the course plan and delivery by reducing the wastes. Thus, this study demonstrates that lean-kaizen can also help education sector to improve their services as achieved by manufacturing sector. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=course%20delivery" title="course delivery">course delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=education" title=" education"> education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaizen" title=" Kaizen"> Kaizen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lean" title=" lean"> lean</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25287/the-application-of-lean-kaizen-in-course-plan-and-delivery-in-malaysian-higher-education-sector" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25287.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">368</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1953</span> Effect of Building Construction Sizes on Project Delivery Methods in Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nuruddeen%20Usman">Nuruddeen Usman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Sani"> Mohammad Sani</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The performance of project delivery methods has been an issue of concern to various stakeholders in the construction industry. The contracting system of project delivery is the traditional system used in the delivery of most public projects in Nigeria. The direct labor system is used most times as an alternative to the traditional system. There were so many complain about the performance of contracting system and the suitability of direct labor as an alternative to the delivery of public projects. Therefore, this paper is aimed at investigating the effect of project size on the project delivery methods in the completed public buildings. Questionnaires were self-administered to managerial staff in the study area and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The findings reveals that contracting system was choosing for large size building construction project delivery with higher frequency (F) of 40 (76.9%) against direct labor with 12 (23.1%). While the small size project, the result revealed a frequency (F) of 26 (50%) for contracting system and direct labor system respectively. Base on the research findings, the contracting system, was recommended for all sizes of building construction project delivery while direct labor system can only use as an alternative for small size building construction projects delivery. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction%20size" title="construction size">construction size</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contracting%20system" title=" contracting system"> contracting system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=direct%20labour" title=" direct labour"> direct labour</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effect" title=" effect"> effect</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34754/effect-of-building-construction-sizes-on-project-delivery-methods-in-nigeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34754.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">457</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1952</span> Development of an Erodable Matrix Drug Delivery Platform for Controled Delivery of Non Steroidal Anti Inflamatory Drugs Using Melt Granulation Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Hilsana">A. This work deals with developing a wax matrix drug delivery platform for controlled delivery of three model NSAIDS, Diclofenac sodium (DNa), Mefenamic acid (MA) and Naproxen (NPX) using the melt granulation technique. The aim of developing the platform was to have a general understanding on how an erodible matrix system modulates drug delivery rate and extent and how it can be optimized to give a delivery system which shall release the drug as per a common target product profile (TPP). Commonly used waxes like Cetostearyl alcohol and stearic acid were used singly an in combination to achieve a TPP of not 15 to 35% in 1 hour and not less than 80% Q in 24 hours. Full factorial design of experiments was followed for optimization of the formulation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NSAIDs" title="NSAIDs">NSAIDs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=controlled%20delivery" title=" controlled delivery"> controlled delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=target%20product%20profile" title=" target product profile"> target product profile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=melt%20granulation" title=" melt granulation"> melt granulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9021/development-of-an-erodable-matrix-drug-delivery-platform-for-controled-delivery-of-non-steroidal-anti-inflamatory-drugs-using-melt-granulation-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/9021.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">334</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1951</span> Intelligent Drug Delivery Systems</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shideh%20Mohseni%20Movahed">Shideh Mohseni Movahed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mansoureh%20Safari"> Mansoureh Safari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Intelligent drug delivery systems (IDDS) are innovative technological innovations and clinical way to advance current treatments. The study uses real-time customer online purchase data to study the impact of missed delivery times on satisfaction. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=LOST%20SALES" title="LOST SALES">LOST SALES</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DELIVERY%20TIME" title="DELIVERY TIME">DELIVERY TIME</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CUSTOMER%20SATISFACTION" title="CUSTOMER SATISFACTION">CUSTOMER SATISFACTION</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CUSTOMER%20REVIEWS" title="CUSTOMER REVIEWS">CUSTOMER REVIEWS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143670/the-role-of-logistics-services-in-influencing-customer-satisfaction-and-reviews-in-an-online-marketplace" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143670.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">214</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1949</span> Abating the Barriers to the Deployment of RFID for Construction Project Delivery in South Africa</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Matthew%20O.%20Ikuabe">Matthew O. Particularly, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology is widely regarded to be of immense advantage for the management of construction projects. This study focused on evaluating the barriers to the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for the delivery of construction projects. Using Gauteng Provincein South Africa as the study area, questionnaire was used in eliciting responses from construction professionals, which made up the population of the study. Retrieved data was analysed using Mean Item Score and One-Sample t-test. Findings from the study showed that the most significant barriers to the deployment of RFID for construction project delivery are high cost and lack of awareness. Conclusively, the study made recommendations that would aid in the abatement of the barriers to the use of RFID technology for construction project delivery. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=barriers" title="barriers">barriers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=construction" title=" construction"> construction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20delivery" title=" project delivery"> project delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RFID" title=" RFID"> RFID</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144074/abating-the-barriers-to-the-deployment-of-rfid-for-construction-project-delivery-in-south-africa" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/144074.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">206</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1948</span> Host-Assisted Delivery of a Model Drug to Genomic DNA: Key Information From Ultrafast Spectroscopy and in Silico Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ria%20Ghosh">Ria Ghosh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soumendra%20Singh"> Soumendra Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dipanjan%20Mukherjee"> Dipanjan Mukherjee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Susmita%20Mondal"> Susmita Mondal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Monojit%20Das"> Monojit Das</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Uttam%20Pal"> Uttam Pal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aniruddha%20Adhikari"> Aniruddha Adhikari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Aman%20Bhushan"> Aman Bhushan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Surajit%20Bose"> Surajit Bose</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Siddharth%20Sankar%20Bhattacharyya"> Siddharth Sankar Bhattacharyya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Debasish%20Pal"> Debasish Pal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tanusri%20Saha-Dasgupta"> Tanusri Saha-Dasgupta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maitree%20Bhattacharyya"> Maitree Bhattacharyya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Debasis%20Bhattacharyya"> Debasis Bhattacharyya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Asim%20Kumar%20Mallick"> Asim Kumar Mallick</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ranjan%20Das"> Ranjan Das</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Samir%20Kumar%20Pal"> Samir Kumar Pal</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Drug delivery to a target without adverse effects is one of the major criteria for clinical use. Herein, we have made an attempt to explore the delivery efficacy of SDS surfactant in a monomer and micellar stage during the delivery of the model drug, Toluidine Blue (TB) from the micellar cavity to DNA. Molecular recognition of pre-micellar SDS encapsulated TB with DNA occurs at a rate constant of k1 ~652 s 1. However, no significant release of encapsulated TB at micellar concentration was observed within the experimental time frame. This originated from the higher binding affinity of TB towards the nano-cavity of SDS at micellar concentration which does not allow the delivery of TB from the nano-cavity of SDS micelles to DNA. Thus, molecular recognition controls the extent of DNA recognition by TB which in turn modulates the rate of delivery of TB from SDS in a concentration-dependent manner. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DNA" title="DNA">DNA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20delivery" title=" drug delivery"> drug delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micelle" title=" micelle"> micelle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pre-micelle" title=" pre-micelle"> pre-micelle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SDS" title=" SDS"> SDS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=toluidine%20blue" title=" toluidine blue"> toluidine blue</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154090/host-assisted-delivery-of-a-model-drug-to-genomic-dna-key-information-from-ultrafast-spectroscopy-and-in-silico-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/154090.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">113</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1947</span> Importance of Infrastucture Delivery and Management in South Africa</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Onyeka%20Nkwonta">Onyeka Nkwonta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Theo%20Haupt"> Theo Haupt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karana%20Padayachee"> Karana Padayachee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims primarily to identify potential causes of the bottlenecks in the public sector that affect delivery and formulate evidence-based interventions to improve delivery and management of infrastructure projects. An initial literature review was carried out on infrastructural development and delivery in South Africa, with the aim to formulate evidence-based interventions to improve delivery within the sector. The infrastructure delivery management model was developed to map out best practice delivery processes. These will become the backbone on which improvement initiatives that will be developed within participating stakeholders. The model will, in turn, support a range of methodologies, including the risk system and a knowledge management framework. It will also look at key challenges facing departments with the ability to ensure knowledge and skills transfer at various sectors. The research is limited because the findings were based on existing literature. This study adopted an indirect approach for infrastructure management by focussing on the challenges faced and approaches adopted to overcome these challenges. This may narrow the consideration of some of the viewpoints, thereby limiting the richness of experience available to this research. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infrastructure" title="infrastructure">infrastructure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=management" title=" management"> management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=challenges" title=" challenges"> challenges</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=South%20Africa" title=" South Africa"> South Africa</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138074/importance-of-infrastucture-delivery-and-management-in-south-africa" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/138074.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">138</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1946</span> Polysaccharide-Based Oral Delivery Systems for Site Specific Delivery in Gastro-Intestinal Tract</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaarunya%20Sampathkumar">Kaarunya Sampathkumar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Say%20Chye%20Joachim%20Loo"> Say Chye Joachim Loo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Oral delivery is regarded as the facile method for the administration of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) and drug carriers. In an initiative towards sustainable nanotechnology, an oral nano-delivery system has been developed that is made entirely of food-based materials and can also act as a site-specific delivery device depending on the stimulus encountered in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The delivery system has been fabricated from food grade polysaccharide materials like chitosan and starch through electrospraying technique without the use of any organic solvents. A nutraceutical extracted from an Indian medicinal plant, has been loaded into the nano carrier to test its efficacy in encapsulation and stimuli based release of the active ingredient. The release kinetics of the nutraceutical from the carrier was evaluated in simulated gastric, intestinal and colonic fluid and was found to be triggered both by the enzymes and the pH in each part of the intestinal tract depending on the polysaccharide being used. The toxicity of the nanoparticles on the intestinal epithelial cells was tested and found to be relatively safe for up to 24 hours at a concentration of 0.2 mg/mL with cellular uptake also being observed. The developed nano carrier thus serves as a promising delivery vehicle for targeted delivery to different parts of the GIT with the inherent conditions of the GIT itself acting as the stimulus. In addition, being fabricated from food grade materials, the carrier could be potentially used for the targeted delivery of nutrients through functional foods. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bioavailability" title="bioavailability">bioavailability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chitosan" title=" chitosan"> chitosan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delivery%20systems" title=" delivery systems"> delivery systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=encapsulation" title=" encapsulation"> encapsulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90354/polysaccharide-based-oral-delivery-systems-for-site-specific-delivery-in-gastro-intestinal-tract" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90354.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">213</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1945</span> Risk Assessment for Aerial Package Delivery</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haluk%20Eren">Haluk Eren</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%9Cmit%20%C3%87elik"> Ümit Çelik</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recent developments in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have begun to attract intense interest. UAVs started to use for many different applications from military to civilian use. Some online retailer and logistics companies are testing the UAV delivery. UAVs have great potentials to reduce cost and time of deliveries and responding to emergencies in a short time. Despite these great positive sides, just a few works have been done for routing of UAVs for package deliveries. As known, transportation of goods from one place to another may have many hazards on delivery route due to falling hazards that can be exemplified as ground objects or air obstacles. This situation refers to wide-range insurance concept. For this reason, deliveries that are made with drones get into the scope of shipping insurance. On the other hand, air traffic was taken into account in the absence of unmanned aerial vehicle. But now, it has been a reality for aerial fields. In this study, the main goal is to conduct risk analysis of package delivery services using drone, based on delivery routes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerial%20package%20delivery" title="aerial package delivery">aerial package delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=insurance%20estimation" title=" insurance estimation"> insurance estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=territory%20risk%20map" title=" territory risk map"> territory risk map</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unmanned%20aerial%20vehicle" title=" unmanned aerial vehicle"> unmanned aerial vehicle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=route%20risk%20estimation" title=" route risk estimation"> route risk estimation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drone%20risk%20assessment" title=" drone risk assessment"> drone risk assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drone%20package%20delivery" title=" drone package delivery"> drone package delivery</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75960/risk-assessment-for-aerial-package-delivery" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75960.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">341</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1944</span> Sustainability Assessment of Food Delivery with Last-Mile Delivery Droids, A Case Study at the European Commission's JRC Ispra Site</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ada%20Garus">Ada Garus</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents the outcomes of the sustainability assessment of food delivery with a last-mile delivery service introduced in a real-world case study. The methodology used in the sustainability assessment integrates multi-criteria decision-making analysis, sustainability pillars, and scenario analysis to best reflect the conflicting needs of stakeholders involved in the last mile delivery system. The case study provides an application of the framework to the food delivery system of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission where three alternative solutions were analyzed I) the existent state in which individuals frequent the local cantine or pick up their food, using their preferred mode of transport II) the hypothetical scenario in which individuals can only order their food using the delivery droid system III) a scenario in which the food delivery droid based system is introduced as a supplement to the current system. The environmental indices are calculated using a simulation study in which decision regarding the food delivery is predicted using a multinomial logit model. The vehicle dynamics model is used to predict the fuel consumption of the regular combustion engines vehicles used by the cantine goers and the electricity consumption of the droid. The sustainability assessment allows for the evaluation of the economic, environmental, and social aspects of food delivery, making it an apt input for policymakers. Moreover, the assessment is one of the first studies to investigate automated delivery droids, which could become a frequent addition to the urban landscape in the near future. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovations%20in%20transportation%20technologies" title="innovations in transportation technologies">innovations in transportation technologies</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=behavioural%20change%20and%20mobility" title=" behavioural change and mobility"> behavioural change and mobility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=urban%20freight%20logistics" title=" urban freight logistics"> urban freight logistics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=innovative%20transportation%20systems" title=" innovative transportation systems"> innovative transportation systems</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142926/sustainability-assessment-of-food-delivery-with-last-mile-delivery-droids-a-case-study-at-the-european-commissions-jrc-ispra-site" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142926.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">193</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1943</span> Solution Approaches for Some Scheduling Problems with Learning Effect and Job Dependent Delivery Times</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20Duran%20Toksari">M. We could all agree that one of the objectives of Higher Education is to provide students with a variety of intellectual and practical skills that, at the same time, will help them develop competitive advantages such as adaptation and critical thinking. Among the strategic objectives of Universidad de Monterrey (UDEM) has been to provide flexibility and satisfaction to students in the delivery modes of the academic offer. UDEM implemented a methodology that combines face to face with synchronous and asynchronous as delivery modes. UDEM goal, in this case, was to implement new technologies and different teaching methodologies that will improve the students learning experience. In this study, the experience of students during courses implemented in new delivery mode was compared with students in courses with traditional delivery modes. Students chose openly either way freely. After everything students around the world lived in 2020 and 2021, one can think that the face to face (traditional) delivery mode would be the one chosen by students. The results obtained in this study reveal that both delivery modes satisfy students and favor their learning process. We will show how the combination of delivery modes provides flexibility, so the proposal is that universities can include them in their academic offer as a response to the current student's learning interests and needs. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flexibility" title="flexibility">flexibility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=new%20delivery%20modes" title=" new delivery modes"> new delivery modes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=student%20satisfaction" title=" student satisfaction"> student satisfaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=academic%20offer" title=" academic offer"> academic offer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164168/students-experience-perception-in-courses-taught-in-new-delivery-modes-compared-to-traditional-modes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164168.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">101</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1941</span> Housing Delivery in Nigeria: Repackaging for Sustainable Development</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Funmilayo%20L.%20Amao">Funmilayo L. On the supply side, various government policies in the past have been formulated towards overcoming the huge shortage through several Housing Reform Programmes. Despite these past efforts, housing continues to be a mirage to ordinary Nigerian. Currently, there are various mass housing delivery programmes such as the affordable housing scheme that utilize the Public Private Partnership effort and several Private Finance Initiative models could only provide for about 3% of the required stock. This suggests the need for a holistic solution in approaching the problem. The aim of this research is to find out the problems hindering the delivery of housing in Nigeria and its effects on housing affordability. The specific objectives are to identify the causes of housing delivery problems, to examine different housing policies over years and to suggest a way out for sustainable housing delivery. This paper also reviews the past and current housing delivery programmes in Nigeria and analyses the demand and supply side issues. It identifies the various housing delivery mechanisms in current practice. The objective of this paper, therefore, is to give you an insight into the delivery option for the sustainability of housing in Nigeria, given the existing delivery structures and the framework specified in the New National Housing Policy. The secondary data were obtained from books, journals and seminar papers. The conclusion is that we cannot copy models from other nations, but should rather evolve workable models based on our socio-cultural background to address the huge housing shortage in Nigeria. Recommendations are made in this regard. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing" title="housing">housing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sustainability" title=" sustainability"> sustainability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20delivery" title=" housing delivery"> housing delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20policy" title=" housing policy"> housing policy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=housing%20affordability" title=" housing affordability"> housing affordability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5985/housing-delivery-in-nigeria-repackaging-for-sustainable-development" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/5985.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">296</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1940</span> An Exploratory Study of the Meaning of Life of Delivery Agents of Kolkata</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Soumitri%20Bag%20Majumder">Soumitri Bag Majumder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Anindita%20Chaudhuri"> Anindita Chaudhuri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This exploratory study delves into the perception of job dignity among delivery agents in Kolkata, focusing on both food and grocery delivery sectors. The rapid expansion of online delivery platforms in India has led to a significant rise in the delivery service industry. Despite its growth, there is a dearth of research addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by delivery agents. This study aims to bridge this gap by shedding light on their experiences. The study’s objectives include exploring the lived experiences of delivery agents, their work-life balance, and their perception of job dignity. Using a qualitative research approach, the study will conduct semi-structured in-depth interviews with a purposive sample of 10 participants from each sector, consisting of individuals with lower socio-economic backgrounds aged between 18 and 35 years. The Three-Layer Coding framework proposed by Charmaz will guide the data analysis process, encompassing open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. Through this method, the study seeks to uncover emergent themes and patterns that illuminate the participants’ perspectives on job dignity, recognition, and the challenges they encounter. By uncovering their perceptions of job dignity and the challenges they face, the research aims to contribute to the well-being of these workers and inform relevant stakeholders for a more equitable work environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delivery%20agents" title="delivery agents">delivery agents</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=equitable%20work%20environment" title=" equitable work environment"> equitable work environment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=perception%20of%20job%20dignity" title=" perception of job dignity"> perception of job dignity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=work-life%20balance" title=" work-life balance"> work-life balance</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172007/an-exploratory-study-of-the-meaning-of-life-of-delivery-agents-of-kolkata" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/172007.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">64</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1939</span> Feasibility of Using Bike Lanes in Conjunctions with Sidewalks for Ground Drone Applications in Last Mile Delivery for Dense Urban Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Bazyar%20Shourabi">N. They also have the potential to make a huge impact on human life. Despite this potential, little work has gone into developing a suitable feasibility model for ground drone delivery in dense urban areas. Today, most of the experimental ground delivery drones utilize sidewalks only, with just a few of them starting to use bike lanes, which a significant portion of some urban areas have. This study works on the feasibility of using bike lanes in conjunction with sidewalks for ground drone applications in last-mile delivery for dense urban areas. This work begins with surveying bike lanes and sidewalks within the city of Boston using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to determine the percentage of coverage currently available within the city. Then six scenarios are examined. Based on this research, a mathematical model is developed. The daily cost of delivering packages using each scenario is calculated by the mathematical model. Comparing the drone delivery scenarios with the traditional method of package delivery using trucks will provide essential information concerning the feasibility of implementing routing protocols that combine the use of sidewalks and bike lanes. The preliminary results of the model show that ground drones that can travel via sidewalks or bike lanes have the potential to significantly reduce delivery cost. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground%20drone" title="ground drone">ground drone</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intelligent%20transportation%20system" title=" intelligent transportation system"> intelligent transportation system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=last-mile%20delivery" title=" last-mile delivery"> last-mile delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sidewalk%20robot" title=" sidewalk robot"> sidewalk robot</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116913/feasibility-of-using-bike-lanes-in-conjunctions-with-sidewalks-for-ground-drone-applications-in-last-mile-delivery-for-dense-urban-areas" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/116913.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">144</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1938</span> Formulation and Evaluation of Ethosomes of Plumeria indica Linn. Methods: The study was performed as a questionnaire design in a State Hospital in Kars, Turkey with 403 unselected pregnant who were recruited from the delivery unit. The data were collected via 3 questionnaires; the first with sociodemographic and obstetric features, the second with Wijma Delivery Expectance/Experience Questionnaire (W-DEQ) scale, and the third with the scale of Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). Results: The W-DEQ and BAI scores were higher in nulliparous than multiparous woman (W-DEQ 67.08±28.33, 59.87±26.91, P=0.039<0.05, BAI 18.97±9.5, 16.65±11.83, P=0.0009<0.05 respectively). Moreover, W-DEQ and BAI scores of pregnant whose gestational week was ≤37 / ≥41 and who didn’t receive training and had vaginal delivery was higher than those whose gestational week was 38-40 weeks and who received prenatal training and had cesarean delivery (W-DEQ 67.54±29.20, 56.44±22.59, 69.72±25.53 p<0.05, BAI 21.41±9.07; 15.77±11.20, 18.36±10.57 p<0.05 respectively). Both in nulliparous and multiparous, as W-DEQ score increases BAI score increases too (r=0.256; p=0.000<0.05). Conclusions: Severe fear of childbirth and anxiety was more common in nulliparous women, preterm and post-term pregnancy and who did not receive prenatal training and had vaginal delivery. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Beck%20Anxiety%20Inventory%20%28BAI%29" title="Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI)">Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fear%20of%20birth" title=" fear of birth"> fear of birth</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=parity" title=" parity"> parity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pregnant%20women" title=" pregnant women"> pregnant women</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wijma%20Delivery%20Expectance%2FExperience%20Questionnaire%20%28W-DEQ%29" title=" Wijma Delivery Expectance/Experience Questionnaire (W-DEQ)"> Wijma Delivery Expectance/Experience Questionnaire (W-DEQ)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49913/fear-of-childbirth-according-to-parity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/49913.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">289</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1936</span> Service Delivery Disparity Conundrum at Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality: Exploration of the Enhanced Future</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mandisi%20Matyana">Mandisi Matyana</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Although the South African local government is doing all the best in ensuring improved service delivery for the citizens, service delivery disparity still remains the real challenge for other municipalities. The unequal distribution of services within municipal wards is causing unequal happiness among the citizens; hence others do enjoy different provided municipal services, while others do not. It is acknowledged that less access to municipal services infringes one’s rights, such as the right to human dignity and the right to life. Some of the municipal services are basic services and they are the mainstay of human survival, such as water, housing, etc. It is quite evident that the service delivery disparity could be caused by the various factors within the local municipality affairs, including both administrative and political factors. Therefore, this study is undertaken to check and evaluate the main foundations of service delivery disparity in ensuring equal development of the state, particularly for local communities. The study used the qualitative method to collect the data from the citizens of Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality. An extensive literature was also conducted in understanding the causes of service delivery disparity. Study findings prove that the service delivery disparity could be caused by factors such as political interference in administration, corruption and fraud, elevated unemployment levels, inadequate institutional capacity, etc. Therefore, the study recommends strong community participation and constant external supervision in the local government so as to encourage openness in local government to ensure fair administration towards services to be provided. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=administration" title="administration">administration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development" title=" development"> development</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=municipal%20services" title=" municipal services"> municipal services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20delivery%20disparity" title=" service delivery disparity"> service delivery disparity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Winnie%20Madikizela%20Mandela%20local%20municipality" title=" Winnie Madikizela Mandela local municipality"> Winnie Madikizela Mandela local municipality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148196/service-delivery-disparity-conundrum-at-winnie-madikizela-mandela-local-municipality-exploration-of-the-enhanced-future" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/148196.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">110</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1935</span> Predictors of Ante-Natal Care and Health Facility Delivery Services Utilization in a Rural Area in Plateau State</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lilian%20A.%20Okeke">Lilian A. We conducted this study to identify factors influencing the utilization of antenatal care (ANC) and health delivery services. Methods: We conducted a cross sectional study. Households were numbered and a one in three sample was selected using a systematic sampling method. One hundred and ninety eight women who were either pregnant or had previous deliveries were interviewed using pretested structured questionnaires to obtain information on their socio-demographic characteristics, and reasons for non-utilization of ANC and health delivery services. We performed univariate and bivariate analysis using Epi info version 3.5.3. Results: The age of respondents ranged from (17-55 years) with a median age of 29 years. One hundred and ninety two (97%) utilized antenatal care services. Ninety three (47.9%) attended ANC at second trimester. More than half (58.6%) had ≥ 4 visits to ANC. One hundred and thirty one (66.2%) had their last delivery at home by a traditional birth attendant. Factors associated with ANC and health facility delivery services utilization were: age group 45-55 (OR 0.01; 95% CI: 0.00-0.16) and > 55 years (OR 0.03; 95% CI: 0.00-0.60), wife’s educational status (OR 3.17; 95% CI: 1.66-8.30), husband’s permission (OR 11.8; 95% CI 2.19-63.62), and distance ≥ 5km (OR 0.33; 95% CI: 0.16-0.60). Conclusion: ANC services were well utilized. Most women did not book early and had their last delivery at home. Predictors of ANC use and health facility delivery were age, wife’s educational status, husband's permission and long distance from health facility. A one-day health sensitization of the benefits of ANC utilization and the dangers of delivering at home was implemented. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ante%20natal%20care" title="ante natal care">ante natal care</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20facility" title=" health facility"> health facility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=delivery%20services" title=" delivery services"> delivery services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rural%20area" title=" rural area"> rural area</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Plateau%20state" title=" Plateau state"> Plateau state</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10229/predictors-of-ante-natal-care-and-health-facility-delivery-services-utilization-in-a-rural-area-in-plateau-state" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/10229.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">375</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1934</span> A Mathematical Model for a Two-Stage Assembly Flow-Shop Scheduling Problem with Batch Delivery System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saeedeh%20Ahmadi%20Basir">Saeedeh Ahmadi Basir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Mahdavi%20Mazdeh"> Mohammad Mahdavi Mazdeh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Namakshenas"> Mohammad Namakshenas</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Manufacturers often dispatch jobs in batches to reduce delivery costs. Most ocular diseases are treated with repeated topical applications administered as eye drops. Various attempts have been made to improve drug bioavailability by increasing both the retention of the drug in the pre-corneal area and the penetration of the drug through the cornea. However, currently marketed products are associated with vision blurring, irritability, patient discomfort, toxicity, low drug bioavailability, manufacturing difficulties and inadequate aqueous stability. It has been suggested to use iontophoresis for the non-invasive delivery of drugs. The iontophoretic device is composed of a control panel, two electrodes, a cylindrical well for the insertion of a disposable hydrogel, and a disposable hydrogel pellet. The drug-loaded hydrogel is attached to a cylindrical well at the edge of the electrode of the device and placed onto the eye. The device applies a variable electrical current that can vary from 0.1 mA to 1.5 mA for pre-set periods from 10 seconds to 300 seconds. The iontophoretic device developed in the lab was found to be effective in the delivery of the drugs: gentamicin, water-soluble steroids, and various anticancer agents. When testing in rabbits for safety, the device was considered to be non-toxic and effective. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=iontophoresis" title="iontophoresis">iontophoresis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eye%20disorder" title=" eye disorder"> eye disorder</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20delivery" title=" drug delivery"> drug delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrogel" title=" hydrogel"> hydrogel</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164928/ocular-delivery-of-charged-drugs-using-iontophoresis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/164928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">79</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1931</span> The Interrelationship between Formal and Informal Institutions and Its Impacts on the Autonomy of Public Service Delivery Units: The Case of Vietnam </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minh%20Thi%20Hai%20Vo">Minh Thi Hai Vo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This article draws on in-depth interviews with state employees at public hospitals and universities in its institutional analysis of the autonomy practices of public service delivery units in Vietnam. Unlike many empirical and theoretical studies that view formal and informal institutions as complements or substitutes, this article finds no evidence of complementary or substitutive relationships. Instead, the article finds that formal institutions accommodate informal ones and that informal institutions tend to compete and interfere, with the existing and ineffective formal institutions. The result of such conflicting relationship is that the actual autonomy of public service delivery units is, in most cases, perceived to be greater than the formal autonomy they are given. In the condition of poor regulation, the informal autonomy may result in unethical practices including rent-seeking and corruption. The implication of the study finding is policy-makers need to redesign and reorganize the autonomisation of public service delivery units to make informal institutions support and reinforce formal ones in a complementary manner. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=autonomy" title="autonomy">autonomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=formal%20institutions" title=" formal institutions"> formal institutions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=informal%20institutions" title=" informal institutions"> informal institutions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=public%20service%20delivery%20units" title=" public service delivery units"> public service delivery units</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vietnam" title=" Vietnam"> Vietnam</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89830/the-interrelationship-between-formal-and-informal-institutions-and-its-impacts-on-the-autonomy-of-public-service-delivery-units-the-case-of-vietnam" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/89830.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">205</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">1930</span> Delivery of Positively Charged Proteins Using Hyaluronic Acid Microgels</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elaheh%20Jooybar">Elaheh Jooybar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20J.%20Abdekhodaie"> Mohammad J. First, a hyaluronic acid-tyramine conjugate (HA-TA) was synthesized with a degree of substitution of 13 TA moieties per 100 disaccharide units. Then, HA-TA microdroplets were produced using a water in oil emulsion method and crosslinked in the presence of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Loading capacity and the release kinetics of lysozyme and BSA, as model proteins, were investigated. It was shown that lysozyme, a cationic protein, can be incorporated efficiently in the HA microgels, while the loading efficiency for BSA, as a negatively charged protein, is low. The release profile of lysozyme showed a sustained release over a period of one month. The results demonstrated that the HA-TA microgels are a good carrier for spatial delivery of cationic proteins for biomedical applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
