a reed shaken by the wind?<Fr> <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span><FR>But what went ye out to see? a man in soft <i>raiment</i>; Behold, those wearing soft <i>raiment are</i> in kings' houses.<Fr> <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span><FR>But why did ye go out? to see a prophet? Yea, I say to you, and much more than a prophet.<Fr><p> <A name="11"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span><FR>This is he of whom it has been written, 'Behold, I send My messenger before Thy face, who shall prepare Thy way before Thee.'<Fr><p> <A name="12"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span><FR>"Verily I say to you, there has not arisen, among those born of women, a greater than John the Immerser; yet he that is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.<Fr> <A name="13"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span><FR>And from the time of John the Immerser until now, the Kingdom of Heaven is taken by storm, and violent men seize upon it;<Fr> <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span><FR>for all the prophets and the law prophesied until John;<Fr> <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span><FR>and, if ye are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is about to come.<Fr> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span><FR>He that has ears let him hear.<Fr><p> <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span><FR>"But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who, calling to the others,<Fr> <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span><FR>say, 'We piped to you, and ye did not dance; we wailed, and ye did not lament.'<Fr> <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span><FR>For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.'<Fr> <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span><FR>The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Behold, a man gluttonous and a wine-drinker, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners.' And wisdom was justified by her works."<Fr><p> <A name="21"></a><p class="hdg">Woe to the Unrepentant<br /><span class="cross">(<a href ="../luke/10.htm#13">Luke 10:13–16</a>)</span><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Then He began to upbraid the cities in which were done most of His mighty works, because they did not repent. <A name="22"></a><span class="red"><p><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span><FR>"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! because, if the mighty works which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes;<Fr> <A name="23"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><FR>nevertheless I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon in the day of judgment than for you.<Fr> <A name="24"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/matthew/11-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span><FR>"And you, Capernaum, shall you be exalted to Heaven?
