Photo: The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation</div> </div> <div> <div><p>The project, funded by a US$2.46 million Federal Charging and Infrastructure grant under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, is the first of its kind completed in the Eastern US and aligns with the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program.</p><p>Located at 59 North Main Street, the hub features two dual-port Level 3 DC fast chargers and two dual-port Level 2 chargers, providing a total of eight charging ports. The Level 3 chargers can fully charge EVs in 20 minutes or less, while the Level 2 chargers cater to longer stays. This facility is strategically positioned for local EV drivers and travellers along Interstate 91, with easy access via mobile payment or credit card.</p><p>In addition to supporting clean energy adoption, the project incorporates climate-resilient infrastructure, including permeable asphalt, rain gardens, and native plantings, designed to mitigate flooding impacts from nearby rivers. These features complement new pedestrian walkways and greenspaces, enhancing downtown accessibility and supporting local businesses.</p><p>The hub showcases American-made charging technology from Autel and ChargePoint, with infrastructure by Eaton. Local contractors and engineers played a key role, supported by Eversource Energy's utility upgrades.
