A new bridge has been installed, possibly to give W10 gauge clearance on the ECML slow lines, as part of a series of bridge replacement works on five consecutive bridges. Work began initially at both Station Lane, Shipton (by Beningbrough) and Forest Lane, Alne. As well as replacement of this bridge, work is currently being carried out at Chapmans Lane, next bridge south towards Shipton, with work yet to start on the final bridge at Station Road, Tollerton. Each bridge replacement requires a near four month road closure, hence a staggered pattern of work to maintain close to hand diversion routes around the work area. Station Road will be closed for some 6 months once work gets underway, but a new bridge will give a vast improvement in appearance. There is a high speed crossover from the Up Slow to the Up Fast line, and from the Down Fast to the Down Slow line, plus a north to south low speed cross over from the Down Fast line to the Up Fast just south of these.
