These covenants are foundational to the narrative of the Bible and are central to understanding God's relationship with His chosen people, Israel. The covenants with the patriarchs are characterized by God's promises of land, descendants, and blessings, which are integral to the unfolding of biblical history and theology.<br><br><b>Abrahamic Covenant</b><br><br>The covenant with Abraham is first introduced in <a href="/genesis/12.htm">Genesis 12:1-3</a>, where God calls Abram (later named Abraham) to leave his country and promises to make him a great nation. The covenant is further elaborated in <a href="/bsb/genesis/15.htm">Genesis 15</a> and <a href="/bsb/genesis/17.htm">Genesis 17</a>. You are to undergo circumcision, and it will be the sign of the covenant between Me and you."<br><br><b>Covenant with Isaac</b><br><br>The covenantal promises made to Abraham are reaffirmed to his son Isaac. In <a href="/genesis/26-3.htm">Genesis 26:3-4</a> , God tells Isaac, "Stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you. For to you and your descendants I will give all these lands, and I will confirm the oath I swore to your father Abraham. I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations of the earth will be blessed."<br><br>This reiteration underscores the continuity of God's promises and His faithfulness to the covenant established with Abraham.<br><br><b>Covenant with Jacob</b><br><br>The covenant is further extended to Jacob, Abraham's grandson, who is later named Israel.
