Her research interests are related to the role of Phosphoprotein Phosphatase 1 (PP1) in male-related disorders, particularly, male infertility. She is also involved in the development of a novel male contraceptive based on the modulation of sperm specific PP1 complexes with bioportides. Currently MF is a a member of the Support Team for Curricular and Pedagogical Innovation at UA and the DMS Commission for Pedagogical Innovation and Quality. She became Associate Professor in Health Sciences in 2011 and in 2019 got the habilitation in Biomedicine, also at UBI.
