The physiological sensors provide repetitive measurements of these parameters in the form of electrical signals that vary continuously over time. Various measures allow informing us about the health of the person's physiological data (weight, blood pressure, heart rate or specific to a disease), environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, light, noise level) and displacement and movements (physical efforts and the completion of major daily living activities). The collected data will allow monitoring the patient’s condition and alerting in case of modification. They are also used in the diagnosis and decision making on medical treatment and the health of the patient. This work presents the implementation of a monitoring system to be used for the control of physiological parameters. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=clinical%20monitoring" title="clinical monitoring">clinical monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20parameters" title=" physiological parameters"> physiological parameters</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biomedical%20sensors" title=" biomedical sensors"> biomedical sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=personal%20health" title=" personal health"> personal health</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12815/implementation-of-clinical-monitoring-system-of-physiological-parameters" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12815.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">473</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4039</span> Remote Wireless Patient Monitoring System</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sagar%20R.%20Patil">Sagar R. This device (patient monitoring system) informs doctors and nurses about the patient’s physiological signals. However, this device (patient monitoring system) does not have a remote monitoring capability, which is necessitates constant onsite attendance by support personnel (doctors and nurses). Thus, we have developed a Remote Wireless Patient Monitoring System using some biomedical sensors and Android OS, which is a portable patient monitoring. This device(Remote Wireless Patient Monitoring System) monitors the biomedical signals of patients in real time and sends them to remote stations (doctors and nurse’s android Smartphone and web) for display and with alerts when necessary. Wireless Patient Monitoring System different from conventional device (Patient Monitoring system) in two aspects: First its wireless communication capability allows physiological signals to be monitored remotely and second, it is portable so patients can move while there biomedical signals are being monitor. Wireless Patient Monitoring is also notable because of its implementation. We are integrated four sensors such as pulse oximeter (SPO2), thermometer, respiration, blood pressure (BP), heart rate and electrocardiogram (ECG) in this device (Wireless Patient Monitoring System) and Monitoring and communication applications are implemented on the Android OS using threads, which facilitate the stable and timely manipulation of signals and the appropriate sharing of resources. The biomedical data will be display on android smart phone as well as on web Using web server and database system we can share these physiological signals with remote place medical personnel’s or with any where in the world medical personnel’s. We verified that the multitasking implementation used in the system was suitable for patient monitoring and for other Healthcare applications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=patient%20monitoring" title="patient monitoring">patient monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20patient%20monitoring" title=" wireless patient monitoring"> wireless patient monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bio-medical%20signals" title=" bio-medical signals"> bio-medical signals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20signals" title=" physiological signals"> physiological signals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=embedded%20system" title=" embedded system"> embedded system</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Android%20OS" title=" Android OS"> Android OS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=healthcare" title=" healthcare"> healthcare</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pulse%20oximeter%20%28SPO2%29" title=" pulse oximeter (SPO2)"> pulse oximeter (SPO2)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermometer" title=" thermometer"> thermometer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=respiration" title=" respiration"> respiration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blood%20pressure%20%28BP%29" title=" blood pressure (BP)"> blood pressure (BP)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20rate" title=" heart rate"> heart rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electrocardiogram%20%28ECG%29" title=" electrocardiogram (ECG)"> electrocardiogram (ECG)</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26470/remote-wireless-patient-monitoring-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26470.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">571</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4038</span> University Students Sport’s Activities Assessment in Harsh Weather Conditions</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ammar%20S.%20M.%20Moohialdin">Ammar S. Real sports measurement was conducted during sports activities such that the physiological status (HR and BR) of five students were continuously monitored by using Zephyr BioHarnessTM 3.0 sensors in order to identify the physiological bonds and zones. These bonds and zones were employed as indicators of the associated physiological risks of the performed sports activities. Furthermore, a short yes/no questionnaire was applied to collect information on participants&rsquo; health conditions and opinions of the applied PSM sensors. The results show the absence of a warning system as a protective aid for the hazardous levels of extremely hot and humid weather conditions that may cause dangerous and fatal circumstances. The applied formulas for estimating maximum HR provides accurate estimations for Maximum Heart Rate (HRmax). The physiological results reveal that the performed activities by the participants are considered the highest category (90&ndash;100%) in terms of activity intensity. This category is associated with higher HR, BR and physiological risks including losing the ability to control human body behaviors. Therefore, there is a need for immediate intervention actions to reduce the intensity of the performed activities to safer zones. The outcomes of this study assist the safety improvement of sports activities inside universities and athletes performing their sports activities. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first paper to represent a special case of the application of PSM technology for assessing sports activities in universities considering the impacts of harsh weather conditions on students&rsquo; health and safety. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20status%20monitoring%20%28PSM%29" title="physiological status monitoring (PSM)">physiological status monitoring (PSM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20rate%20%28HR%29" title=" heart rate (HR)"> heart rate (HR)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breathing%20rate%20%28BR%29" title=" breathing rate (BR)"> breathing rate (BR)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arabian%20Gulf" title=" Arabian Gulf"> Arabian Gulf</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78390/university-students-sports-activities-assessment-in-harsh-weather-conditions" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/78390.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">199</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4037</span> Bioelectronic System for Continuous Monitoring of Cardiac Activity of Benthic Invertebrates for the Assessment of a Surface Water Quality</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sergey%20Kholodkevich">Sergey Kholodkevich</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tatiana%20Kuznetsova"> Tatiana Kuznetsova</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The objective assessment of ecological state of water ecosystems is impossible without the use of biological methods of the environmental monitoring capable in the integrated look to reveal negative for biota changes of quality of water as habitats. Considerable interest for the development of such methods of environmental quality control represents biomarker approach. Measuring systems, by means of which register cardiac activity characteristics, received the name of bioelectronic. Bioelectronic systems are information and measuring systems in which animals (namely, benthic invertebrates) are directly included in structure of primary converters, being an integral part of electronic system of registration of these or those physiological or behavioural biomarkers. As physiological biomarkers various characteristics of cardiac activity of selected invertebrates have been used in bioelectronic system.lChanges in cardiac activity are considered as integrative measures of the physiological condition of organisms, which reflect the state of the environment of their dwelling. Greatest successes in the development of tools of biological methods and technologies of an assessment of surface water quality in real time. Essential advantage of bioindication of water quality by such tool is a possibility of an integrated assessment of biological effects of pollution on biota and also the expressness of such method and used approaches. In the report the practical experience of authors in biomonitoring and bioindication of an ecological condition of sea, brackish- and freshwater areas is discussed. Authors note that the method of non-invasive cardiac activity monitoring of selected invertebrates can be used not only for the advancement of biomonitoring, but also is useful in decision of general problems of comparative physiology of the invertebrates. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=benthic%20invertebrates" title="benthic invertebrates">benthic invertebrates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20state" title=" physiological state"> physiological state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heart%20rate%20monitoring" title=" heart rate monitoring"> heart rate monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20quality%20assessment" title=" water quality assessment"> water quality assessment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15523/bioelectronic-system-for-continuous-monitoring-of-cardiac-activity-of-benthic-invertebrates-for-the-assessment-of-a-surface-water-quality" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/15523.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">717</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4036</span> A Review of Physiological Measures for Cognitive Workload Assessment of Aircrew</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naveed%20Tahir">Naveed Tahir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adnan%20Maqsood"> Adnan Maqsood</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Cognitive workload is a significant factor affecting user performance, and it has been broadly investigated for its application in ergonomics as well as in designing and optimizing effective human-machine interactions. It is mentally challenging to maneuver an aircraft, and pilots must control the aircraft and adequately communicate to the verbal-auditory stimuli. Several physiological measures have long been researched and used to demonstrate the cognitive workload. In our current study, we have summarized recent findings of the effectiveness, accuracy, and applicability of commonly used physiological measures in evaluating cognitive workload. We have also highlighted on the advancements in physiological measures. The strength and limitations of physiological measures have also been discussed to assess the cognitive workload of people, especially the aircrews in laboratory settings and real-time situations. We have presented the research findings of the physiological measures to base suggestions on the proper applications of the measures and settings demanding the use of single measure or their combinations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aircrew" title="aircrew">aircrew</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cognitive%20workload" title=" cognitive workload"> cognitive workload</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=subjective%20measure" title=" subjective measure"> subjective measure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20measure" title=" physiological measure"> physiological measure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=performance%20measure" title=" performance measure"> performance measure</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137265/a-review-of-physiological-measures-for-cognitive-workload-assessment-of-aircrew" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/137265.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">162</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4035</span> Impact of Popular Passive Physiological Diversity Drivers on Thermo-Physiology</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ilango%20Thiagalingam">Ilango Thiagalingam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Erwann%20Yvin"> Erwann Yvin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabriel%20Crehan"> Gabriel Crehan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roch%20El%20Khoury"> Roch El Khoury</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An experimental investigation is carried out in order to evaluate the relevance of a customization approach of the passive thermal mannikin. The promise of this approach consists in the following assumption: physiological differences lead to distinct thermo-physiological responses that explain a part of the thermal appraisal differences between people. Categorizing people and developing an appropriate thermal mannikin for each group would help to reduce the actual dispersion on the subjective thermal comfort perception. Results of this experimental model approbation confirmed the applicability of the proposed approach. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cardiovascular%20diseases" title="cardiovascular diseases">cardiovascular diseases</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20monitoring%20systems" title=" health monitoring systems"> health monitoring systems</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoplethysmography" title=" photoplethysmography"> photoplethysmography</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pulse%20wave" title=" pulse wave"> pulse wave</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=remote%20diagnostics" title=" remote diagnostics"> remote diagnostics</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29151/photoplethysmography-based-device-designing-for-cardiovascular-system-diagnostics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29151.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">492</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4032</span> An Investigation of the Therapeutic Effects of Indian Classical Music (Raga Bhairavi) on Mood and Physiological Parameters of Scholars</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kalpana%20Singh">Kalpana Singh</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nikita%20Katiyar"> Nikita Katiyar</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This research investigates the impact of Raga Bhairavi, a prominent musical scale in Indian classical music, on the mood and basic physiological parameters of research scholars at the University of Lucknow - India. The study focuses on the potential therapeutic effects of listening to Raga Bhairavi during morning hours. A controlled experimental design is employed, utilizing self-reporting tools for mood assessment and monitoring physiological indicators such as heart rate, oxygen saturation levels, body temperature and blood pressure. The hypothesis posits that exposure to Raga Bhairavi will lead to positive mood modulation and a reduction in physiological stress markers among research scholars. Data collection involves pre and post-exposure measurements, providing insights into the immediate and cumulative effects of the musical intervention. The study aims to contribute valuable information to the growing field of music therapy, offering a potential avenue for enhancing the well-being and productivity of individuals engaged in intense cognitive activities. Results may have implications for the integration of music-based interventions in academic and research environments, fostering a conducive atmosphere for intellectual pursuits. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bio-musicology" title="bio-musicology">bio-musicology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=classical%20music" title=" classical music"> classical music</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mood%20assessment" title=" mood assessment"> mood assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=music%20therapy" title=" music therapy"> music therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiology" title=" physiology"> physiology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Raga%20Bhairavi" title=" Raga Bhairavi"> Raga Bhairavi</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182023/an-investigation-of-the-therapeutic-effects-of-indian-classical-music-raga-bhairavi-on-mood-and-physiological-parameters-of-scholars" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182023.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">53</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4031</span> Physiological Assessment for Straightforward Symptom Identification (PASSify): An Oral Diagnostic Device for Infants</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kathryn%20Rooney">Kathryn Rooney</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaitlyn%20Eddy"> Kaitlyn Eddy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evan%20Landers"> Evan Landers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Weihui%20Li"> Weihui Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The international mortality rate for neonates and infants has been declining at a disproportionally low rate when compared to the overall decline in child mortality in recent decades. A significant portion of infant deaths could be prevented with the implementation of low-cost and easy to use physiological monitoring devices, by enabling early identification of symptoms before they progress into life-threatening illnesses. The oral diagnostic device discussed in this paper serves to continuously monitor the key vital signs of body temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate, and oxygen saturation. The device mimics an infant pacifier, designed to be easily tolerated by infants as well as orthodontically inert. The fundamental measurements are gathered via thermistors and a pulse oximeter, each encapsulated in medical-grade silicone and wired internally to a microcontroller chip. The chip then translates the raw measurements into physiological values via an internal algorithm, before outputting the data to a liquid crystal display screen and an Android application. Additionally, a biological sample collection chamber is incorporated into the internal portion of the device. The movement within the oral chamber created by sucking on the pacifier-like device pushes saliva through a small check valve in the distal end, where it is accumulated and stored. The collection chamber can be easily removed, making the sample readily available to be tested for various diseases and analytes. With the vital sign monitoring and sample collection offered by this device, abnormal fluctuations in physiological parameters can be identified and appropriate medical care can be sought. This device enables preventative diagnosis for infants who may otherwise have gone undiagnosed, due to the inaccessibility of healthcare that plagues vast numbers of underprivileged populations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neonate%20mortality" title="neonate mortality">neonate mortality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=infant%20mortality" title=" infant mortality"> infant mortality</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-cost%20diagnostics" title=" low-cost diagnostics"> low-cost diagnostics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vital%20signs" title=" vital signs"> vital signs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=saliva%20testing" title=" saliva testing"> saliva testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=preventative%20care" title=" preventative care"> preventative care</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91438/physiological-assessment-for-straightforward-symptom-identification-passify-an-oral-diagnostic-device-for-infants" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/91438.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">152</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4030</span> Self-Carried Theranostic Nanoparticles for in vitro and in vivo Cancer Therapy with Real-Time Monitoring of Drug Release</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jinfeng%20Zhang">Jinfeng Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chun-Sing%20Lee"> Chun-Sing Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The use of different nanocarriers for delivering hydrophobic pharmaceutical agents to tumor sites has garnered major attention. Despite the merits of these nanocarriers, further studies are needed for improving their drug loading capacities (typically less than 10%) and reducing their potential systemic toxicity. So development of alternative self-carried nanodrug delivery strategies without using any inert carriers is highly desirable. In this study, we developed a self-carried theranostic curcumin (Cur) nanodrug for highly effective cancer therapy in vitro and in vivo with real-time monitoring of drug release. With a biocompatible C18PMH-PEG functionalization, the Cur nanoparticles (NPs) showed excellent dispersibility and outstanding stability in physiological environment, with drug loading capacity higher than 78 wt.%. Both confocal microscopy and flow cytometry confirmed the cellular fluorescent “OFF-ON” activation and real-time monitoring of Cur molecule release, showing its potential for cancer diagnosis. In vitro and in vivo experiments clearly show that therapeutic efficacy of the PEGylated Cur NPs is much better than that of free Cur. This self-carried theranostic strategy with real-time monitoring of drug release may open a new way for simultaneous cancer therapy and diagnosis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=drug%20delivery" title="drug delivery">drug delivery</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in%20vitro%20and%20in%20vivo%20cancer%20therapy" title=" in vitro and in vivo cancer therapy"> in vitro and in vivo cancer therapy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=real-time%20monitoring" title=" real-time monitoring"> real-time monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-carried" title=" self-carried"> self-carried</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26667/self-carried-theranostic-nanoparticles-for-in-vitro-and-in-vivo-cancer-therapy-with-real-time-monitoring-of-drug-release" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26667.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">399</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4029</span> Experimental Verification of the Relationship between Physiological Indexes and the Presence or Absence of an Operation during E-learning</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Masaki%20Omata">Masaki Omata</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shumma%20Hosokawa"> Shumma Hosokawa</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> An experiment to verify the relationships between physiological indexes of an e-learner and the presence or absence of an operation during e-learning is described. It follows the central assumption, that a fully generic event monitoring solution cannot provide complete support for event monitoring; instead, event source specific semantics such as certain event types or support for certain event monitoring techniques have to be taken into account. Following from this, the core result of the work presented here is the extension of a configurable event monitoring (Web) service for a variety of event sources. A service approach allows us to trade genericity for the exploitation of source specific characteristics. They should be carefully researched to help improve the design and comfort of indoor environments. This paper aims to explore and test the degree and importance of individual physiological and psycho-physical differences, reviewing the most preferred, neutral, and comfortable temperature in previous studies conducted across the world. Basic individual physiological differences like gender, age, BMI and etc., have been the focus of this research. There is no unique consensus in the literature to date in regard to providing a universal thermal comfort formula that meets all individual physiological and psycho-physical needs. In order to achieve a balanced, thermally comfortable indoor environment, studying and evaluating individual needs in different parts of the world could be helpful. Even though personalized comfort systems in indoor environments sound promising, they might not be easily achieved in bigger office interiors, considering the cost and current open-plan office trends. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20comfort" title="thermal comfort">thermal comfort</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indoor%20environments" title=" indoor environments"> indoor environments</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=occupants%27%20physiological%20response" title=" occupants&#039; physiological response"> occupants&#039; physiological response</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=occupants%20psycho-physical%20response" title=" occupants psycho-physical response"> occupants psycho-physical response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162870/individual-physiological-and-psycho-physical-response-on-predicting-thermal-comfort-in-transient-environments-a-literature-review" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/162870.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">73</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4024</span> Moved by Music: The Impact of Music on Fatigue, Arousal and Motivation During Conditioning for High to Elite Level Female Artistic Gymnasts</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chante%20J.%20De%20Klerk">Chante J. A team of seven gymnasts completed a fixed conditioning programme eight times, alternating the two variable conditions. Four sessions of each condition were conducted: without music (session 1), with music (session 2), without music (3), with music (4), without music (5), and so forth. Quantitative data were collected in both conditions through physiological monitoring of the gymnasts, and administration of the Situational Motivation Scale (SIMS). Statistical analysis of the physiological data made it possible to quantify the presence as well as the magnitude of the musical intervention’s impact on various aspects of the gymnasts' physiological functioning during conditioning. The SIMS questionnaire results were used to evaluate if their motivation towards conditioning was altered by the intervention. Thematic analysis of qualitative data collected through semi-structured interviews revealed themes reflecting the gymnasts’ sentiments towards the data collection process. Gymnast-specific descriptions and experiences of the team as a whole were integrated with the quantitative data to facilitate greater dimension in establishing the impact of the intervention. The results showed positive physiological, motivational, and emotional effects. In the presence of music, superior sympathetic nervous activation, and energy efficiency, with more economic breathing, dominated the physiological data. Fatigue and arousal levels (emotional and physiological) were also conducive to improved conditioning outcomes compared to conventional conditioning (without music). Greater levels of positive affect and motivation emerged in analysis of both the SIMS and interview data sets. Overall, the intervention was found to promote psychophysiological coherence during the physical activity. In conclusion, a strategically constructed musical intervention, designed to accompany a gymnastics conditioning session for high to elite level gymnasts, has ergogenic potential. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arousal" title="arousal">arousal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fatigue" title=" fatigue"> fatigue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gymnastics%20conditioning" title=" gymnastics conditioning"> gymnastics conditioning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=motivation" title=" motivation"> motivation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=musical%20intervention" title=" musical intervention"> musical intervention</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychophysiological%20coherence" title=" psychophysiological coherence"> psychophysiological coherence</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122936/moved-by-music-the-impact-of-music-on-fatigue-arousal-and-motivation-during-conditioning-for-high-to-elite-level-female-artistic-gymnasts" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/122936.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">94</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4023</span> A Leaf-Patchable Reflectance Meter for in situ Continuous Monitoring of Chlorophyll Content</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kaiyi%20Zhang">Kaiyi Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenlong%20Li"> Wenlong Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haicheng%20Li"> Haicheng Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yifei%20Luo"> Yifei Luo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zheng%20Li"> Zheng Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaoshi%20Wang"> Xiaoshi Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiaodong%20Chen"> Xiaodong Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Plant wearable sensors facilitate the real-time monitoring of plant physiological status. In situ monitoring of the plant chlorophyll content over days could provide valuable information on the photosynthetic capacity, nitrogen content, and general plant health. However, it cannot be achieved by current chlorophyll measuring methods. Here, a miniaturized and plant-wearable chlorophyll meter was developed for rapid, non-destructive, in situ, and long-term chlorophyll monitoring. This reflectance-based chlorophyll sensor with 1.5 mm thickness and 0.2 g weight (1000 times lighter than the commercial chlorophyll meter), includes a light emitting diode (LED) and two symmetric photodetectors (PDs) on a flexible substrate and is patched onto the leaf upper epidermis with a conformal light guiding layer. A chlorophyll content index (CCI) calculated based on this sensor shows a better linear relationship with the leaf chlorophyll content (r² > 0.9) than the traditional chlorophyll meter. This meter can wirelessly communicate with a smartphone to monitor the leaf chlorophyll change under various stresses and indicate the unhealthy status of plants for long-term application of plants under various stresses earlier than chlorophyll meter and naked-eye observation. This wearable chlorophyll sensing patch is promising in smart and precision agriculture. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plant%20wearable%20sensors" title="plant wearable sensors">plant wearable sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=reflectance-based%20measurements" title=" reflectance-based measurements"> reflectance-based measurements</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=chlorophyll%20content%20monitoring" title=" chlorophyll content monitoring"> chlorophyll content monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20agriculture" title=" smart agriculture"> smart agriculture</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171702/a-leaf-patchable-reflectance-meter-for-in-situ-continuous-monitoring-of-chlorophyll-content" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171702.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">115</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4022</span> Design and Characterization of a Smart Composite Fabric for Knee Brace</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rohith%20J.%20K.">Rohith J. Active feedback physiological support and continuous detection of performance indicators, without time or space constraints, would be beneficial in more effective training and performance measures of Paralympic athletes. Moreover, occasionally the athletes suffer from fatigue and muscular stains due to improper monitoring systems. The latter challenges can be overcome by using Smart Composites technology when manufacturing, e.g., knee brace and other sports wearables utilities, where the sensors can be fused together into the fabric and an assisted system actively support the athlete. This paper shows how different sensing functionality may be created by intrinsic and extrinsic modifications onto different types of composite fabrics, depending on the level of integration and the employed functional elements. Results demonstrate that fabric sensors can be well-tailored to measure muscular strain and be used in the fabrication of a smart knee brace as a sample potential application. Materials, connectors, fabric circuits, interconnects, encapsulation and fabrication methods associated with such smart fabric technologies prove to be customizable and versatile. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20composites" title="smart composites">smart composites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sensors" title=" sensors"> sensors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smart%20fabrics" title=" smart fabrics"> smart fabrics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knee%20brace" title=" knee brace"> knee brace</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142502/design-and-characterization-of-a-smart-composite-fabric-for-knee-brace" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142502.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">178</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4021</span> Investigation of Comfort Properties of Knitted Fabrics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mehmet%20Karahan">Mehmet Karahan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nevin%20Karahan"> Nevin Karahan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Water and air permeability and thermal resistance of fabrics are the important attributes which strongly influence the thermo-physiological comfort properties of sportswear fabrics in different environmental conditions. Further, the thermo-physical properties, including air permeability, water vapor permeability, and thermal resistance, of the developed fabrics were analyzed before and after washing. The multi-response optimization of thermo-physiological comfort properties was done by using principal component analysis (PCA) and Taguchi signal to noise ratio (PCA-S/N ratio) for optimal properties. It was found that the selected parameters resulted in a significant effect on thermo-physiological comfort properties of knitted fabrics. The PCA analysis showed that before wash, 100% cotton fabric with an aerial weight of 220 g.m⁻² gave optimum values of thermo-physiological comfort. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermo-physiological%20comfort" title="thermo-physiological comfort">thermo-physiological comfort</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fleece%20knitted%20fabric" title=" fleece knitted fabric"> fleece knitted fabric</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=air%20permeability" title=" air permeability"> air permeability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20vapor%20transmission" title=" water vapor transmission"> water vapor transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cotton%2Fpolyester" title=" cotton/polyester"> cotton/polyester</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147190/investigation-of-comfort-properties-of-knitted-fabrics" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/147190.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">117</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4020</span> Condition Monitoring System of Mine Air Compressors Based on Wireless Sensor Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sheng%20Fu">Sheng Fu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yinbo%20Gao"> Yinbo Gao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hao%20Lin"> Hao Lin</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In the current mine air compressors monitoring system, there are some difficulties in the installation and maintenance because of the wired connection. Sulphur dioxide has been recorded in concentrations hazardous to humans (0.25 – 0.5 ppm (~650 – 1300 μg/m3), downwind of many volcanoes and hence warrants constant air-quality monitoring around these sites. It has been linked to an increase in chronic respiratory disease attributed to long-term exposures and alteration in lung and other physiological functions attributed to short-term exposures. Sulphur Springs in Saint Lucia is a highly active geothermal area, located within the Soufrière Volcanic Centre, and is a park widely visited by tourists and locals. It is also a current source of continuous volcanic emissions via its many fumaroles and bubbling pools, warranting concern by residents and visitors to the park regarding the effects of exposure to these gases. In this study, we introduce a novel SO2 measurement system for the monitoring and quantification of ambient levels of airborne volcanic SO2 using low-cost technology. This work involves the extensive production of low-cost SO2 monitors/samplers, as well as field examination in tandem with standard commercial samplers (SO2 diffusion tubes). It also incorporates community involvement in the volcanic monitoring process as non-professional users of the instrument. We intend to present the preliminary monitoring results obtained from the low-cost samplers, to identify the areas in the Park exposed to high concentrations of ambient SO2, and to assess the feasibility of the instrument for non-professional use and application in volcanic settings <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ambient%20SO2" title="ambient SO2">ambient SO2</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=community-based%20monitoring" title=" community-based monitoring"> community-based monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk-reduction" title=" risk-reduction"> risk-reduction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sulphur%20springs" title=" sulphur springs"> sulphur springs</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=low-cost" title=" low-cost "> low-cost </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26170/development-testing-and-application-of-a-low-cost-technology-sulphur-dioxide-monitor-as-a-tool-for-use-in-a-volcanic-emissions-monitoring-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26170.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">467</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4017</span> Monitoring and Analysis of Bridge Crossing Ground Fissures</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhiqing%20Zhang">Zhiqing Zhang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiangong%20Zhou"> Xiangong Zhou</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zihan%20Zhou"> Zihan Zhou</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Ground fissures can be seen in some cities all over the world. As a special urban geological disaster, ground fissures in Xi'an have caused great harm to infrastructure. Chang'an Road Interchange in Xi'an City is a bridge across ground fissures. The damage to Chang'an Road interchange is the most serious and typical. To study the influence of ground fissures on the bridge, we established a bridge monitoring system. The main monitoring items include elevation monitoring, structural displacement monitoring, etc. The monitoring results show that the typical failure is mainly reflected in the bridge deck damage caused by horizontal tension and vertical dislocation. For the construction of urban interchange spanning ground fissures, the interchange should be divided reasonably, a simple support structure with less restriction should be adopted, and the monitoring of supports should be strengthened to prevent the occurrence of beam falling. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bridge%20monitoring" title="bridge monitoring">bridge monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ground%20fissures" title=" ground fissures"> ground fissures</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=typical%20disease" title=" typical disease"> typical disease</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20displacement" title=" structural displacement"> structural displacement</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150133/monitoring-and-analysis-of-bridge-crossing-ground-fissures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/150133.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">223</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4016</span> Comparative Study of Mechanical and Physiological Gait Efficiency Following Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Radwa%20E.%20Sweif">Radwa E. Hypothesis/Purpose: This study compared the physiological and mechanical measures of gait efficiency between patients with ACL reconstruction (ACLR) and healthy controls and correlated among these measures. Methods: Seventeen patients with ACLR and sixteen healthy controls with mean ± SD age 23.06±4.76 vs 24.85±6.47 years, height 173.93±6.54 vs 175.64±7.37cm, and weight 74.25±12.1 vs 76.52±10.14 kg, respectively, participated in the study. The patients were operated on six months prior to testing. They should have completed their accelerated rehabilitation program during this period. A 3D motion analysis system was used for collecting the mechanical measures (Biomechanical Efficiency Quotient (BEQ), the maximum degree of knee internal rotation during stance phase and speed of walking). The physiological measures (Physiological Cost Index (PCI) and Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE)) were collected after performing the 6- minute walking test. Results: MANOVA showed that the maximum degree of knee internal rotation, PCI, and RPE increased and the speed decreased significantly (p<0.05) in the patients compared with the controls with no significant difference for the BEQ. Finally, there were significant (p<0.05) positive correlations between each of the PCI & RPE and each of the BEQ, speed of walking and the maximum degree of knee internal rotation in each group. Conclusion: It was concluded that there are alterations in both mechanical and physiological measures of gait efficiency in patients with ACLR after being rehabilitated, clarifying the need for performing additional endurance as well as knee stability training programs. Moreover, the positive correlations indicate that using either of the mechanical or physiological measures for evaluating gait efficiency is acceptable. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ACL%20reconstruction" title="ACL reconstruction">ACL reconstruction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mechanical" title=" mechanical"> mechanical</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological" title=" physiological"> physiological</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=gait%20efficiency" title=" gait efficiency"> gait efficiency</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7837/comparative-study-of-mechanical-and-physiological-gait-efficiency-following-anterior-cruciate-ligament-reconstruction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/7837.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">437</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4015</span> Sustainable Human Resource Management in the Hotel Industry: Assessing the Mediating Effect of Physiological Climate on Employee Performance</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Salameh%20Almasarweh">Mohammad Salameh Almasarweh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The primary aim of this research is to explore the mediating role of physiological climate in the relationship between green HRM practices (specifically, GHRM practices, GHRM recruitment, GHRM training, GHRM performance appraisal, and GHRM empowerment) and employee performance within the hotel industry. The study revealed that green HRM practices, encompassing green recruiting, green training, green performance evaluation, and green empowerment, exerted a statistically significant influence on employee performance. A quantitative method was employed for this research, focusing on hotel managers in Jordan as the study's population. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to a convenience sample of 300 managers from various hotels in Jordan. The results of the study align with prior research, supporting the notion that green HRM practices positively impact both employee performance and physiological climate. Furthermore, the findings of this study indicate that physiological climate acts as a mediating factor in the relationship between green HRM practices and employee performance in Jordanian hotels. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GHRM%20practices" title="GHRM practices">GHRM practices</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GHRM%20recruitment" title=" GHRM recruitment"> GHRM recruitment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GHRM%20training" title=" GHRM training"> GHRM training</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GHRM%20performance%20appraisal" title=" GHRM performance appraisal"> GHRM performance appraisal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GHRM%20empowerment" title=" GHRM empowerment"> GHRM empowerment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=employee%E2%80%99s%20performance" title=" employee’s performance"> employee’s performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=physiological%20climate" title=" physiological climate"> physiological climate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182914/sustainable-human-resource-management-in-the-hotel-industry-assessing-the-mediating-effect-of-physiological-climate-on-employee-performance" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/182914.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">68</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4014</span> The Estimation of Human Vital Signs Complexity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=L.%20Bikulciene">L. Previous our studies have shown that the evaluation of the interactions of physiological signals by using special analysis methods is suitable for observation of physiological processes. It is demonstrated the possibility of using deep physiological model, based interpretation of the changes of the human body’s functional states combined with an application of the analytical method based on matrix theory for the physiological signals analysis, which was applied on high risk cardiac patients. It is shown that evaluation of cardiac signals interactions show peculiar for each individual functional changes at the onset of hemodynamic restoration procedure. Behavioural changes (such as a shift in distribution or changes in phenology) can ensure that a species remains in an environment suited for its optimal physiological performance. However, if marine life is unable to shift their distribution, they are reliant on physiological adaptation (either by broadening their metabolic curves to tolerate a range of stressors or by shifting their metabolic curves to maximize their performance at extreme stressors). However, since there are links between fish physiology and behaviour, changes to either of these traits may have reciprocal interactions. This paper reviews the current knowledge of the links between the behaviour and physiology of fishes, discusses these in the context of exploitation and climate change, and makes recommendations for future research needs. The review revealed that our understanding of the links between fish behaviour and physiology is rudimentary. However, both are hypothesized to be linked to stress responses along the hypothalamic pituitary axis. The link between physiological capacity and behaviour is particularly important as both determine the response of an individual to a changing climate and are under selection by fisheries. While it appears that all types of capture fisheries are likely to reduce the adaptive potential of fished populations to climate stressors, angling, which is primarily associated with recreational fishing, may induce fission of natural populations by removing individuals with bold behavioural traits and potentially the physiological traits required to facilitate behavioural change. Future research should focus on assessing how the links between physiological capacity and behaviour influence catchability, the response to climate change drivers, and post-release recovery. The plasticity of phenotypic traits should be examined under a range of stressors of differing intensity in several species and life history stages. Future studies should also assess plasticity (fission or fusion) in the phenotypic structuring of social hierarchy and how this influences habitat selection. Ultimately, to fully understand how physiology is influenced by the selective processes driven by fisheries, long-term monitoring of the physiological and behavioural structure of fished populations, their fitness, and catch rates are required. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change" title="climate change">climate change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metabolic%20shifts" title=" metabolic shifts"> metabolic shifts</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=over-fishing" title=" over-fishing"> over-fishing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=phenotypic%20plasticity" title=" phenotypic plasticity"> phenotypic plasticity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=stress%20response" title=" stress response"> stress response</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129510/examining-the-links-between-fish-behaviour-and-physiology-for-resilience-in-the-anthropocene" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/129510.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">118</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4012</span> Data-Mining Approach to Analyzing Industrial Process Information for Real-Time Monitoring</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seung-Lock%20Seo">Seung-Lock Seo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This work presents a data-mining empirical monitoring scheme for industrial processes with partially unbalanced data. Measurement data of good operations are relatively easy to gather, but in unusual special events or faults it is generally difficult to collect process information or almost impossible to analyze some noisy data of industrial processes. At this time some noise filtering techniques can be used to enhance process monitoring performance in a real-time basis. In addition, pre-processing of raw process data is helpful to eliminate unwanted variation of industrial process data. In this work, the performance of various monitoring schemes was tested and demonstrated for discrete batch process data. It showed that the monitoring performance was improved significantly in terms of monitoring success rate of given process faults. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=data%20mining" title="data mining">data mining</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20data" title=" process data"> process data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=monitoring" title=" monitoring"> monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety" title=" safety"> safety</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=industrial%20processes" title=" industrial processes"> industrial processes</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3929/data-mining-approach-to-analyzing-industrial-process-information-for-real-time-monitoring" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/3929.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">400</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">4011</span> Calculation of Lungs Physiological Lung Motion in External Lung Irradiation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yousif%20Mohamed%20Y.%20Abdallah">Yousif Mohamed Y. The results showed for left lung displacement reading (4.52+1.99 mm) and right lung is (8.21+3.77 mm) which the radiotherapy physician should take suitable countermeasures in case of significant errors. The motion ranged between 2.13 mm and 12.2 mm (low and high). In conclusion, the calculation of tumour mobility can improve the accuracy of target areas definition in patients undergo Sterostatic RT for stage I, II and III lung cancer (NSCLC). Definition of the target volume based on a high resolution CT scan with a margin of 3-5 mm is appropriate. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
