and grow<MH7235a> in<MH7235a> numbers<MH7235a> there<MH8033> and do not decrease<MH4591>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>Seek<MH1875> the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[b]</a></span>prosperity<MH7965> of the city<MH5892b> where<MH834, 8033> I have sent<MH1540> you into<MH1540> exile<MH1540>, and pray<MH6419> to the LORD<MH3068> in its behalf<MH1157>; for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[c]</a></span>in its <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>prosperity<MH7965> will be your <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>prosperity<MH7965>.’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559>: ‘Do not let your prophets<MH5030> who<MH834> are in your midst<MH7130> or your diviners<MH7080> deceive<MH5378> you, and do not listen<MH8085> to <i>their interpretations of</i> your dreams<MH2472> which<MH834> you dream<MH2492b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>For they prophesy<MH5012> falsely<MH8267> to you in My name<MH8034>; I have not sent<MH7971> them,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>“For this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559>: ‘When<MH3588> seventy<MH7657> years<MH8141> have been<MH4390> completed<MH4390> for Babylon<MH894>, I will visit<MH6485> you and fulfill<MH6965> My good<MH2896a> word<MH1697> to you, to bring<MH7725> you back<MH7725> to this<MH2088> place<MH4725>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>For I know<MH3045> the plans<MH4284> that I <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>have<MH2803> for you,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘plans<MH4284> for <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>prosperity<MH7965> and not for disaster<MH7463a>, to give<MH5414> you a future<MH319> and a hope<MH8615b>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>Then you will call<MH7121> upon Me and come<MH1980> and pray<MH6419> to Me, and I will listen<MH8085> to you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>And you will seek<MH1245> Me and find<MH4672> <i>Me</i> when<MH3588> you search<MH1875> for Me with all<MH3605> your heart<MH3824>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>I will let Myself be found<MH4672> by you,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘and I will restore<MH7725> your fortunes<MH7622> and gather<MH6908> you from all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> and all<MH3605> the places<MH4725> where<MH834, 8033> I have driven<MH5080> you,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘and I will bring<MH7725> you back<MH7725> to the place<MH4725> from where<MH834, 8033> I sent<MH1540> you into<MH1540> exile<MH1540>.’ <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>“Because<MH3588> you have said<MH559>, ‘The LORD<MH3068> has raised<MH6965> up<MH6965> prophets<MH5030> for us in Babylon<MH894>’— <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>for this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> says<MH559> concerning<MH413> the king<MH4428> who sits<MH3427> on the throne<MH3678> of David<MH1732>, and concerning<MH413> all<MH3605> the people<MH5971a> who live<MH3427> in this<MH2088> city<MH5892b>, your brothers<MH251> who<MH834> did not go<MH3318> with you into exile<MH1473>— <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>this<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635> says<MH559>: ‘Behold<MH2009>, I am sending<MH7971> upon them the sword<MH2719>, famine<MH7458>, and plague<MH1698>; and I will make<MH5414> them like rotten<MH8182> figs<MH8384> that cannot<MH3808> be eaten<MH398> due<MH4480> to rottenness<MH7455>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>I will pursue<MH7291> them with the sword<MH2719>, with famine<MH7458>, and with plague<MH1698>; and I will make<MH5414> them an object<MH2113> of<MH2113> terror<MH2113> to all<MH3605> the kingdoms<MH4467> of the earth<MH776>, to be a curse<MH423> and an object<MH8047> of<MH8047> horror<MH8047> and <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>hissing<MH8322>, and a disgrace<MH2781> among all<MH3605> the nations<MH1471> where<MH834, 8033> I have driven<MH5080> them, <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>because<MH8478, 834> they have not listened<MH8085> to My words<MH1697>,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>, ‘which<MH834> I sent<MH7971> to them again<MH7925> and again<MH7971> by My servants<MH5650> the prophets<MH5030>; but you did not listen<MH8085>,’ declares<MH5002> the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>‘You, therefore, hear<MH8085> the word<MH1697> of the LORD<MH3068>, all<MH3605> you exiles<MH1473>, whom<MH834> I have sent<MH7971> away<MH7971> from Jerusalem<MH3389> to Babylon<MH894>. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>‘This<MH3541> is<MH3541> what<MH3541> the LORD<MH3068> of armies<MH6635>, the God<MH430> of Israel<MH3478> says<MH559> concerning<MH413> Ahab<MH256> the son<MH1121> of Kolaiah<MH6964> and concerning<MH413> Zedekiah<MH6667> the son<MH1121> of Maaseiah<MH4641>, who are prophesying<MH5012> to you falsely<MH8267> in My name<MH8034>: “Behold<MH2009>, I am going to hand<MH5414, 3027> them over<MH5414> to Nebuchadnezzar<MH5019> king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894>, and he will kill<MH5221> them before your eyes<MH5869>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span>Because<MH4480> of them a curse<MH7045> will be <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>used<MH3947> by all<MH3605> the exiles<MH1546> from Judah<MH3063> who<MH834> are in Babylon<MH894>, saying<MH559>, ‘May the LORD<MH3068> make<MH7760> you like Zedekiah<MH6667> and Ahab<MH256>, whom<MH834> the king<MH4428> of Babylon<MH894> roasted<MH7033> in the fire<MH784>,’ <span class="reftext"><a href="/jeremiah/29-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>because<MH3282, 834> they acted<MH6213a> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>foolishly<MH5039> in Israel<MH3478>, and committed<MH5003> adultery<MH5003> with their neighbors’<MH7453> wives<MH802>, and falsely<MH8267> spoke<MH1696> words<MH1697> in My name<MH8034> which<MH834> I did not command<MH6680> them.
