practice and FAIR data principles into data collection, stewardship, sharing and utilisation of environmental data at all levels. After starting his career at Somerset Environmental Records Centre, Adam spent five years working on the 'Hampshire Biological Record' before becoming Manager of Wales' first LERC, the Biodiversity Information Service for Powys and Brecon Beacons National Park, in 2000. Adam joined the newly-formed SEWBReC as its first Manager in 2004.<br /><br />Adam was the first Chair of ALERC and other previous roles include being a Trustee of the National Biodiversity Network Trust and Vice Chair of the National Federation for Biological Recording. Over 11 years, Mandy chaired the LRC sub group, helped organise the first LRC-specific conferences in 2004 and 2005, and wrote the paper that led to the establishment of the Biodiversity Data Users Group.<br /> <br />Mandy co-chaired the Association of Local Biodiversity Information Centres Steering Group, which was formed at the 2005 conference. It drafted a constitution for a new association, and the members formed the ALERC Steering Group in 2008, and launched the CIC in 2009.<br /><br />Mandy was a member of the Accreditation Steering Group, and has had two spells as a director (2011 – 2017 and 2018 onwards). She set up and chairs the business development group which is her main focus. The group has developed ALERC’s positions on charging, open data and led the ‘LERC’ name consultation.<br /><br />Mandy became assistant on London Wildlife Trust’s Biological Recording Project (BRP) in 1997, and manager in 1999. Together with Leon, she co-leads the ALERC Technical Group and in early 2024. Elina, inspired by similar initiatives in other regions, set up the Northwest Technical Group to share technical expertise among Local Environmental Records Centres (LERCs).<br /><br />Her journey in the LERC world began in May 2018 at RECORD LRC in Cheshire, where she served as the Database Officer. During her time there, she excelled in data management, particularly in species and habitat data, while also supporting volunteers, interns, and engaging in community events.  In February 2023, Elina moved to Merseyside BioBank as the Biodiversity Data and GIS Officer. After just eight days in this role, she unexpectedly assumed the managerial position. Her current focus is on achieving ALERC accreditation for Merseyside BioBank.<br /><br />In order to enhance her field skills and learn more about local conservation issues, Elina has been part of many local conservation groups in the Cheshire area, including the Wirral and Cheshire Badger Group, Wirral Wildlife, Wirral Amphibian and Reptile Group, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, North Wales Wildlife Trust, just to name a few. In Merseyside, she has joined the Liverpool Botanical Society, the Merseyside and West Lancashire Bat Group, the North Merseyside Amphibian and Reptile Group and is in the process of resurrecting the North Merseyside Mammal Group. She has also joined a few Steering Groups in the past, such as the iNaturalist Steering Group. <br /><br />Outside of her professional and conservation-related activities, Elina has had a long-standing passion for rugby union, which she began playing at age 10. She played in various positions within the backline, with her favourite being outside centre. Unfortunately, after several injuries, she had to make the difficult decision to retire from the sport she loved.  Elina is also an avid hiker, having conquered Mount Kilimanjaro in August 2022, an experience she describes as once-in-a-lifetime and highly recommends to others.
