And one who touches<MH5060> anything<MH3605> made unclean<MH2931> by a corpse<MH5315>, or<MH176> a man<MH376> who<MH834> has<MH3318> a seminal<MH7902, 2233> emission<MH3318, 7902>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>or<MH176> a man<MH376> who<MH834> touches<MH5060> any<MH3605> swarming<MH8318> things<MH8318> by which<MH834> he is made<MH2930> unclean<MH2930>, or<MH176> <i>touches</i> any<MH120> person<MH120> by whom<MH834> he is made<MH2930> unclean<MH2930>, whatever<MH3605> his uncleanness<MH2932a>; <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[d]</a></span>person<MH5315> who<MH834> touches<MH5060> any such thing shall be<MH2930> unclean<MH2930> until<MH5704> evening<MH6153>, and shall not eat<MH398> of the holy<MH6944> <i>gifts</i> unless<MH3588, 518> he has bathed<MH7364> his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[e]</a></span>body<MH1320> in water<MH4325>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>But when the sun<MH8121> sets<MH935>, he will be<MH2891> clean<MH2891>, and afterward<MH310> he may eat<MH398> of the holy<MH6944> <i>gifts,</i> for it is his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[f]</a></span>food<MH3899>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>He shall not eat<MH398> <i>an animal</i> which<MH5038> dies<MH5038> or is torn<MH2966> <i>by animals,</i> becoming<MH2930> unclean<MH2930> by it; I am the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>They shall therefore perform<MH8104> <i>their</i> duty<MH4931> to Me, so that they do not bear<MH5375> sin<MH2399> because<MH5921> of it and die<MH4191> by it because<MH3588> they profane<MH2490c> it; I am the LORD<MH3068> who sanctifies<MH6942> them. <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-10.htm"><b>10</b></a></span>‘No<MH3808> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[g]</a></span>layman<MH2114a>, however, is to eat<MH398> the holy<MH6944> <i>gift;</i> a foreign<MH8453> resident<MH8453> with the priest<MH3548> or a hired<MH7916> worker<MH7916> shall not eat<MH398> the holy<MH6944> <i>gift.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-11.htm"><b>11</b></a></span>But if<MH3588> a priest<MH3548> buys<MH7069> a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[h]</a></span>slave<MH5315> as <i>his</i> property<MH7075> with his money<MH3701>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[i]</a></span>that person<MH1931> may eat<MH398> of it, and those<MH1992a> who are born<MH3211> in his house<MH1004> may eat<MH398> of his <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[j]</a></span>food<MH3899>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-12.htm"><b>12</b></a></span>If<MH3588> a priest’s<MH3548> daughter<MH1323> is married<MH802> to a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[k]</a></span>layman<MH2114a>, she shall not eat<MH398> of the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[l]</a></span>offering<MH8641> of the holy<MH6944> <i>gifts.</i> <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>But if<MH3588> a priest’s<MH3548> daughter<MH1323> becomes<MH1961> a widow<MH490> or divorced<MH1644>, and has<MH369> no<MH369> child<MH2233> and returns<MH7725> to her father’s<MH1> house<MH1004> as in her youth<MH5271>, she may eat<MH398> of her father’s<MH1> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[m]</a></span>food<MH3899>; but no<MH3808, 3605> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[n]</a></span>layman<MH2114a> shall eat<MH398> of it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>If<MH3588>, however, someone<MH376> eats<MH398> a holy<MH6944> <i>food</i> unintentionally<MH7684>, then he shall add<MH3254> to it a fifth<MH2549> of it and shall give<MH5414> the holy<MH6944> <i>food</i> to the priest<MH3548>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And they shall not profane<MH2490c> the holy<MH6944> <i>gifts</i> of the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, which<MH834> they offer<MH7311> to the LORD<MH3068>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>and <i>thereby</i> bring<MH5375> upon them <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[o]</a></span>punishment<MH5771> for guilt<MH819> by eating<MH398> their holy<MH6944> <i>gifts;</i> for I am the LORD<MH3068> who sanctifies<MH6942> them.’” <p class="hdg">Flawless Animals for Sacrifice</p><p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>“Speak<MH1696> to Aaron<MH175> and to his sons<MH1121>, and to all<MH3605> the sons<MH1121> of Israel<MH3478>, and say<MH559> to them, ‘Anyone<MH376> of the house<MH1004> of Israel<MH3478> or of the strangers<MH1616> in Israel<MH3478> who<MH834> presents<MH7126> his offering<MH7133a>, whether it is any<MH3605> of their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[p]</a></span>vows<MH5088> or any<MH3605> of their <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[q]</a></span>voluntary<MH5071> offerings<MH5071>, which<MH834> they present<MH7126> to the LORD<MH3068> as a burnt<MH5930a> offering<MH5930a>— <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>for you to be accepted<MH7522>—<i>it must be</i> a male<MH2145> without<MH8549> defect<MH8549> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[r]</a></span>from the cattle<MH1241>, the sheep<MH3775>, or the goats<MH5795>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Whatever<MH3605, 834> has a defect<MH4140b>, you shall not offer<MH7126>, for it will not be accepted<MH7522> for you. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-21.htm"><b>21</b></a></span>When<MH3588> someone<MH376> offers<MH7126> a sacrifice<MH2077> of peace<MH8002> offerings<MH8002> to the LORD<MH3068> to fulfill<MH6381> a<MH6381> special<MH6381> vow<MH5088> or<MH176> for a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[s]</a></span>voluntary<MH5071> offering<MH5071>, <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[t]</a></span>of the herd<MH1241> or<MH176> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[u]</a></span>of the flock<MH6629>, it must be without<MH8549> defect<MH8549> to be accepted<MH7522>; there shall be no<MH3808, 3605> defect<MH4140b> in it. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-22.htm"><b>22</b></a></span><i>Those that are</i> blind<MH5788b>, fractured<MH7665>, maimed<MH2782>, or<MH176> <i>have</i> a wart<MH2990>, a festering<MH1618> rash<MH1618>, or<MH176> scabs<MH3217>, you shall not offer<MH7126> to the LORD<MH3068>, nor<MH3808> make<MH5414> of them an offering<MH801> by<MH801> fire<MH801> on the altar<MH4196> to the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-23.htm"><b>23</b></a></span>Now <i>as for</i> an ox<MH7794> or a lamb<MH7716> which has an <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[v]</a></span>overgrown<MH8311> or stunted<MH7038> <i>member,</i> you may present<MH6213a> it as a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[w]</a></span>voluntary<MH5071> offering<MH5071>, but for a vow<MH5088> it will not be accepted<MH7521>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-24.htm"><b>24</b></a></span>Also anything <i>with its testicles</i> squashed<MH4600>, crushed<MH3807>, torn<MH5423> off<MH5423>, or cut<MH3772> off<MH3772>, you shall not offer<MH7126> to the LORD<MH3068>, nor <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[x]</a></span>sacrifice<MH6213a> in your land<MH776>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-25.htm"><b>25</b></a></span>nor<MH3808> shall you offer<MH7126> any<MH4480, 3605> of these<MH428> <i>animals taken</i> from the hand<MH3027> of a <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[y]</a></span>foreigner<MH1121, 5236> as the <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[z]</a></span>food<MH3899> of your God<MH430>; for their deformity<MH4893a> is in them, they have an impairment<MH4140b>. They will not be accepted<MH7521> for you.’” <p class="paragraph"><span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-26.htm"><b>26</b></a></span>Then the LORD<MH3068> spoke<MH1696> to Moses<MH4872>, saying<MH559>, <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-27.htm"><b>27</b></a></span>“When<MH3588> an ox<MH7794> or<MH176> a sheep<MH3775> or<MH176> a goat<MH5795> is born<MH3205>, it shall <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[aa]</a></span>remain<MH1961> seven<MH7651> days<MH3117> <span class="fn"><a href="#fn">[ab]</a></span>with its mother<MH517>, and from the eighth<MH8066> day<MH3117> on it will be considered<MH7521> acceptable<MH7521> as a sacrifice<MH7133a> of an offering<MH801> by<MH801> fire<MH801> to the LORD<MH3068>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-28.htm"><b>28</b></a></span>But, <i>whether</i> it is an ox<MH7794> or<MH176> a sheep<MH7716>, you shall not slaughter<MH7819> <i>both</i> it and its young<MH1121> in one<MH259> day<MH3117>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-29.htm"><b>29</b></a></span>When<MH3588> you sacrifice<MH2076> a sacrifice<MH2077> of thanksgiving<MH8426> to the LORD<MH3068>, you shall sacrifice<MH2076> it so that you may be accepted<MH7522>. <span class="reftext"><a href="/leviticus/22-30.htm"><b>30</b></a></span>It shall be eaten<MH398> on the same<MH1931> day<MH3117>; you shall leave<MH3498> none<MH3808> of it until<MH5704> morning<MH1242>.
