It was subdivided into the townships of Bollinfee, <a href="/wiki/Chorley,_Alderley" title="Chorley, Alderley">Chorley</a>, Fulshaw and Pownall Fee. Under the Poor Law Amendment Act 1866 the townships became civil parishes in their own right.
