It’s the same group that previously held an affirmative action bake sale on campus in which students were charged different prices for different baked goods depending on color. Until this summer, Garcia was a paid field director for the Republican attorney general’s political campaign for governor. “He used to work for us but I think he resigned close to two months ago,” Abbott campaign spokesman Matt Hirsch said Monday. As one of nearly three dozen field directors, Garcia’s job was to recruit volunteers for the Abbott campaign, Hirsch said.</p> <p>Garcia declined to say why he left or how he was being paid.
