As we embark on the 21st century, it becomes imperative to explore advanced approaches that can effectively engage and empower students in the realm of music. This study aims to shed light on the aspects of primary school music education in South Korea, with a specific focus on the incorporation of the Zoltán Kodály Concept. The Zoltán Kodály Concept, developed by Hungarian composer and educator Zoltán Kodály (Kodály, 1974) advocates for a holistic music education that integrates singing, movement, and music literacy. This concept has gained recognition worldwide for its effectiveness in developing musicianship and enhancing music learning experiences. This study will delve into the ways in which the Zoltán Kodály Concept has been adapted and implemented in the context of South Korean primary school music education. It will highlight the benefits of this approach in nurturing students' musical skills, fostering creativity, and promoting cultural understanding through music. Furthermore, it will enhance the delivery of the Kodály-based curriculum challenges posed by the 21st-century digital age. Drawing on this research, pedagogical practices, and case studies, this study will provide valuable insights into the practical applications of the Zoltán Kodály Concept in South Korean primary school music education. It will discuss the impact of this approach on student engagement, motivation, and achievement, as well as the role of teachers in facilitating effective implementation. Additionally, it will address the professional development opportunities available to music educators to enhance their pedagogical skills in line with the Kodály philosophy. Ultimately, it aims to inspire and empower educators, policymakers, and researchers to embrace the Zoltán Kodály Concept as a transformative and forward-thinking approach to primary school music education in the 21st century. By embracing current aspects and progressive methodologies, South Korea can continue to strengthen its music education system and cultivate a generation of musically literate and culturally enriched individuals. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=primary%20school%20music%20education" title="primary school music education">primary school music education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Kod%C3%A1ly%20concept" title=" Zoltán Kodály concept"> Zoltán Kodály concept</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=21st%20century" title=" 21st century"> 21st century</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=South%20Korea" title=" South Korea"> South Korea</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=music%20literacy" title=" music literacy"> music literacy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pedagogy" title=" pedagogy"> pedagogy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=curriculum" title=" curriculum"> curriculum</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168312/current-aspects-of-21st-century-primary-school-music-education-in-south-korea-zoltan-kodaly-concept" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168312.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">89</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7468</span> Safety and Feasibility of Distal Radial Balloon Aortic Valvuloplasty - The DR-BAV Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alexandru%20Achim">Alexandru Achim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tam%C3%A1s%20Sz%C5%B1csborus"> Tamás Szűcsborus</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Viktor%20Sasi"> Viktor Sasi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ferenc%20Nagy"> Ferenc Nagy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Jambrik"> Zoltán Jambrik</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Attila%20Nemes"> Attila Nemes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Albert%20Varga"> Albert Varga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C%C4%83lin%20Homorodean"> Călin Homorodean</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Olivier%20F.%20Bertrand"> Olivier F. The secondary objective was to determine the effectiveness and appropriate role of DR-BAV within half year follow-up. Methods: Clinical and angiographic data from 32 consecutive patients with symptomatic aortic stenosis were evaluated in a prospective pilot single-center study. Between 2020 and 2021, the patients were treated utilizing dual distal radial access with 6-10F compatible balloons. The efficacy endpoint was divided into technical success (successful valvuloplasty balloon inflation at the aortic valve and absence of intra- or periprocedural major complications), hemodynamic success (a reduction of the mean invasive gradient >30%), and clinical success (an improvement of at least one clinical category in the NYHA classification). The safety endpoints were vascular complications (major and minor Valve Academic Research Consortium (VARC)-2 bleeding, diminished or lost arterial pulse or the presence of any pseudo-aneurysm or arteriovenous fistula during the clinical follow-up) and major adverse events, MAEs (the composite of death, stroke, myocardial infarction, and urgent major aortic valve replacement or implantation during the hospital stay and or at one-month follow-up). Results: 32 patients (40 % male, mean age 80 ± 8,5) with severe aortic valve stenosis were included in the study and 4 patients were excluded. Technical success was achieved in all patients (100%). Hemodynamic success was achieved in 30 patients (93,75%). Invasive max and mean gradients were reduced from 73±22 mm Hg and 49±22 mm Hg to 49±19 mm Hg and 20±13 mm Hg, respectively (p = <.001). Clinical success was achieved in 29 patients (90,6%). In total, no major adverse cardiac or cerebrovascular event nor vascular complications (according to VARC 2 criteria) occurred during the intervention. All-cause death at 6 months was 12%. Conclusion: According to our study, dual distal radial artery access is a safe and effective option for balloon aortic valvuloplasty in patients with severe aortic valve stenosis and can be performed in all patients with sufficient lumen diameter. Future randomized studies are warranted to investigate whether this technique is superior to other approaches. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mean%20invasive%20gradient" title="mean invasive gradient">mean invasive gradient</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distal%20radial%20access%20for%20balloon%20aortic%20valvuloplasty%20%28DR-BAV%29" title=" distal radial access for balloon aortic valvuloplasty (DR-BAV)"> distal radial access for balloon aortic valvuloplasty (DR-BAV)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aortic%20valve%20stenosis" title=" aortic valve stenosis"> aortic valve stenosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pseudo-aneurysm" title=" pseudo-aneurysm"> pseudo-aneurysm</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=arteriovenous%20fistula" title=" arteriovenous fistula"> arteriovenous fistula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=valve%20academic%20research%20consortium%20%28VARC%29-2" title=" valve academic research consortium (VARC)-2"> valve academic research consortium (VARC)-2</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166341/safety-and-feasibility-of-distal-radial-balloon-aortic-valvuloplasty-the-dr-bav-study" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/166341.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">94</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7467</span> A Comparative Analysis of Safety Orientation and Safety Performance in Organizations: A Project Management Perspective</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dina%20Alfreahat">Dina Alfreahat</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Sebestyen"> Zoltan Sebestyen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Safety is considered as one of the project’s success factors. Poor safety management may result in accidents that impact human, economic, and legal issues. Therefore, it is necessary to consider safety and health as a project success factor along with other project success factors, such as time, cost, and quality. Organizations have a knowledge deficit of the implementation of long-term safety practices, and due to cost control, safety problems tend to receive the least priority. They usually assume that safety management involves expenditures unrelated to production goals, thereby considering it unnecessary for profitability and competitiveness. The purpose of this study is to introduce, analysis and identify the correlation between the orientation of the public safety procedures of an organization and the public safety standards applied in the project. Therefore, the authors develop the process and collect the possible mathematical-statistical tools supporting the previously mentioned goal. The result shows that the adoption of management to safety is a major factor in implementing the safety standard in the project and thereby improving safety performance. It may take time and effort to adopt the mindset of safety orientation service development, but at the same time, the higher organizational investment in safety and health programs will contribute to the loyalty of staff to safety compliance. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=project%20management%20perspective" title="project management perspective">project management perspective</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20orientation" title=" safety orientation"> safety orientation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20performance" title=" safety performance"> safety performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20standards" title=" safety standards"> safety standards</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131109/a-comparative-analysis-of-safety-orientation-and-safety-performance-in-organizations-a-project-management-perspective" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131109.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">179</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7466</span> Identification of COVID-SARS Variants Based on Lactate Test Results</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Horvath">Zoltan Horvath</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dora%20Nagy"> Dora Nagy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this research, it was examined whether individual COVID variants cause differences in the lactate curve of cyclists. After all, the virus variants attacked different organs in our body during the infections. During our tests, we used a traditional lactate step test, the results of which were compared with the values before the infection. In the tests, it has been proven that different virus variants show unique lactate curves. In this way, based on the lactate curve, it is possible to identify which variant caused the disease. Thanks to this, it has been shorten the return time, because we can apply the best return protocol after infection to the competitors. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=COVID-Sars19" title="COVID-Sars19">COVID-Sars19</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lactate" title=" lactate"> lactate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=virus%20mutation" title=" virus mutation"> virus mutation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lactate%20profile" title=" lactate profile"> lactate profile</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171056/identification-of-covid-sars-variants-based-on-lactate-test-results" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/171056.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">66</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7465</span> The Role of Management Information Systems in the Strategic Management of Institutions of Higher Education</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Szilvia%20Vincze">Szilvia Vincze</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20B%C3%A1cs"> Zoltán Bács</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> It has become increasingly important for institutions of higher education as well to use available resources as effectively as possible for the implementation of the institution’s strategic plans and, at the same time, to ensure a stable future. However, state-of-the-art meta-modeling techniques prefer design-time modeling, which results in a heavy usage of class sometimes unnecessary static subtyping. Although this approach benefits from clear-cut object-oriented design principles, it also seals the model repository for further dynamic extensions. Unlike many universities, an entry-level technology course (often referred to as CS0) is required for all United States Military Academy (USMA) students–regardless of major–in their first year of attendance. Students at the academy choose their major at the end of their first year of studies. Through student responses to a multi-semester survey, this paper identifies a number of factors that potentially influence STEM major selection. Student demographic data, pre-existing exposure and access to technology, perceptions of STEM subjects, and initial desire for a STEM major are captured before and after taking a CS0 course. An analysis of factors that contribute to student perception of STEM and major selection are presented. This work provides recommendations and suggestions for institutions currently providing or looking to provide CS0-like courses to their students. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=education" title="education">education</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=STEM" title=" STEM"> STEM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pedagogy" title=" pedagogy"> pedagogy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20literacy" title=" digital literacy"> digital literacy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156548/analysis-of-initial-entry-level-technology-course-impacts-on-stem-major-selection" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156548.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">121</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7462</span> Energy Saving, Heritage Conserving Renovation Methods in Case of Historical Building Stock</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Vikt%C3%B3ria%20Sug%C3%A1r">Viktória Sugár</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Lacz%C3%B3"> Zoltán Laczó</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andr%C3%A1s%20Horkai"> András Horkai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gyula%20Kiss"> Gyula Kiss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Attila%20Talamon"> Attila Talamon</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The majority of the building stock of Budapest inner districts was built around the turn of the 19th and 20th century. Although the structural stability of the buildings is not questioned, as the load bearing structures are in sufficient state, the secondary structures are aged, resulting unsatisfactory energetic state. The renovation of these historical buildings requires special methodology and technology: their ornamented facades and custom-made fenestration cannot be insulated or exchanged with conventional solutions without damaging the heritage values. The present paper aims to introduce and systematize the possible technological solutions for heritage respecting energy retrofit in case of a historical residential building stock. Through case study, the possible energy saving potential is also calculated using multiple renovation scenarios. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20efficiency" title="energy efficiency">energy efficiency</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heritage" title=" heritage"> heritage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=historical%20building" title=" historical building"> historical building</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=renovation" title=" renovation"> renovation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80550/energy-saving-heritage-conserving-renovation-methods-in-case-of-historical-building-stock" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/80550.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">295</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7461</span> Empirical Nonprofit Research Literature Review in Major Accounting Areas</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nancy%20Chun%20Feng">Nancy Chun Feng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Janet%20S.%20Greenlee"> Janet S. The traditional monitoring method in Hungary is obsolete but using indirect measurement devices and techniques like optical backscatter sensors (OBS), laser diffraction or acoustic backscatter sensors (ABS) could provide a fast and efficient alternative option of direct methods. However, these methods are strongly sensitive to the particle characteristics (i.e. particle shape, particle size and mineral composition). The current method does not provide sufficient information about particle size distribution, mineral analysis is rarely done, and the shape of the suspended sediment particles have not been examined yet. The aims of the study are (1) to determine the particle characterisation of suspended sediment in the Danube River using advanced particle characterisation methods as laser diffraction and automated imaging, and (2) to perform a sensitivity analysis of the indirect methods in order to determine the impact of suspended particle characteristics. The particle size distribution is determined by laser diffraction. The particle shape and mineral composition analysis is done by the Morphologi G3ID image analyser. The investigated indirect measurement devices are the LISST-Portable|XR, the LISST-ABS (Sequoia Inc.) and the Rio Grande 1200 kHz ADCP (Teledyne Marine). The major findings of this study are (1) the statistical shape of the suspended sediment particle - this is the first research in this context, (2) the actualised particle size distribution – that can be compared to historical information, so that the morphological changes can be tracked, (3) the actual mineral composition of the suspended sediment in the Danube River, and (4) the reliability of the tested indirect methods has been increased – based on the results of the sensitivity analysis and the previous findings. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=advanced%20particle%20characterisation" title="advanced particle characterisation">advanced particle characterisation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=automated%20imaging" title=" automated imaging"> automated imaging</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indirect%20methods" title=" indirect methods"> indirect methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=laser%20diffraction" title=" laser diffraction"> laser diffraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mineral%20composition" title=" mineral composition"> mineral composition</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suspended%20sediment" title=" suspended sediment"> suspended sediment</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118731/advanced-particle-characterisation-of-suspended-sediment-in-the-danube-river-using-automated-imaging-and-laser-diffraction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/118731.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">146</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7459</span> Spectral Responses of the Laser Generated Coal Aerosol</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tibor%20Ajtai">Tibor Ajtai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=No%C3%A9mi%20Utry"> Noémi Utry</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M%C3%A1t%C3%A9%20Pint%C3%A9r"> Máté Pintér</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tomi%20Smausz"> Tomi Smausz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20K%C3%B3nya"> Zoltán Kónya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B%C3%A9la%20Hopp"> Béla Hopp</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=G%C3%A1bor%20Szab%C3%B3"> Gábor Szabó</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Boz%C3%B3ki"> Zoltán Bozóki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Characterization of spectral responses of light absorbing carbonaceous particulate matter (LAC) is of great importance in both modelling its climate effect and interpreting remote sensing measurement data. The residential or domestic combustion of coal is one of the dominant LAC constituent. According to some related assessments the residential coal burning account for roughly half of anthropogenic BC emitted from fossil fuel burning. Despite of its significance in climate the comprehensive investigation of optical properties of residential coal aerosol is really limited in the literature. There are many reason of that starting from the difficulties associated with the controlled burning conditions of the fuel, through the lack of detailed supplementary proximate and ultimate chemical analysis enforced, the interpretation of the measured optical data, ending with many analytical and methodological difficulties regarding the in-situ measurement of coal aerosol spectral responses. Since the gas matrix of ambient can significantly mask the physicochemical characteristics of the generated coal aerosol the accurate and controlled generation of residential coal particulates is one of the most actual issues in this research area. Most of the laboratory imitation of residential coal combustion is simply based on coal burning in stove with ambient air support allowing one to measure only the apparent spectral feature of the particulates. However, the recently introduced methodology based on a laser ablation of solid coal target opens up novel possibilities to model the real combustion procedure under well controlled laboratory conditions and makes the investigation of the inherent optical properties also possible. Most of the methodology for spectral characterization of LAC is based on transmission measurement made of filter accumulated aerosol or deduced indirectly from parallel measurements of scattering and extinction coefficient using free floating sampling. In the former one the accuracy while in the latter one the sensitivity are liming the applicability of this approaches. Although the scientific community are at the common platform that aerosol-phase PhotoAcoustic Spectroscopy (PAS) is the only method for precise and accurate determination of light absorption by LAC, the PAS based instrumentation for spectral characterization of absorption has only been recently introduced. In this study, the investigation of the inherent, spectral features of laser generated and chemically characterized residential coal aerosols are demonstrated. The experimental set-up and its characteristic for residential coal aerosol generation are introduced here. The optical absorption and the scattering coefficients as well as their wavelength dependency are determined by our state-of-the-art multi wavelength PAS instrument (4λ-PAS) and multi wavelength cosinus sensor (Aurora 3000). The quantified wavelength dependency (AAE and SAE) are deduced from the measured data. Finally, some correlation between the proximate and ultimate chemical as well as the measured or deduced optical parameters are also revealed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=absorption" title="absorption">absorption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scattering" title=" scattering"> scattering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residential%20coal" title=" residential coal"> residential coal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerosol%20generation%20by%20laser%20ablation" title=" aerosol generation by laser ablation"> aerosol generation by laser ablation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40409/spectral-responses-of-the-laser-generated-coal-aerosol" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40409.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">361</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7458</span> Investigating the Influence of L2 Motivational Self-System on Willingness to Communicate in English: A Study of Chinese Non-English Major Students in EFL Classrooms</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wanghongshu%20Zhou">Wanghongshu Zhou</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study aims to explore the relationship between the L2MSS and WTC among Chinese non-English major students in order to provide pedagogical implications for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms in Chinese universities. By employing a mixed methods approach, we involved 103 Chinese non-English major students from a typical university in China, conducted questionnaire survey to measure their levels of L2WTC and L2MSS level, and then analyzed the correlation between the two above mentioned variables. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eight participants to provide a deeper understanding and explanation of the questionnaire data. Findings show that 1) Chinese non-English major students’ ideal L2 self and L2 learning experience could positively predict their L2 WTC in EFL class; 2) Chinese non-English major students’ ought-to L2 self might have no significant impact on their L2 WTC in EFL class; and 3) self-confidence might be another main factor that will influence Chinese non-English major students’ L2 WTC in EFL class. These findings might shed light on the second language acquisition field and provide pedagogical recommendations for pre-service as well as in-service EFL teachers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=L2%20willingness%20to%20communicate" title="L2 willingness to communicate">L2 willingness to communicate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=L2%20motivation" title=" L2 motivation"> L2 motivation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=self-confidence" title=" self-confidence"> self-confidence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chinese%20non-English%20major%20students" title=" Chinese non-English major students"> Chinese non-English major students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168418/investigating-the-influence-of-l2-motivational-self-system-on-willingness-to-communicate-in-english-a-study-of-chinese-non-english-major-students-in-efl-classrooms" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/168418.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">81</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7457</span> Wetting Properties of Silver Based Alloys</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Weltsch">Zoltán Weltsch</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J%C3%B3zsef%20Hlinka"> József Hlinka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Eszter%20K%C3%B3kai"> Eszter Kókai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The temperature dependence of wettability (wetting angle, Θ (T)) for Ag-based melts on graphite and Al2O3 substrates is compared. Typical alloying effects are found, as the Ag host metal is gradually replaced by various metallic elements. The essence of alloying lies in the change of the electron/atom (e/a) ratio. This ratio is also manifested in the shift of wetting angles on the same substrate. Nevertheless, the effects are partially smeared by other (metallurgical) factors, like the interaction between the oxygen-alloying elements and by the graphite substrate-oxygen interaction. In contrast, such effects are not pronounced in the case of Al2O3 substrates. As a consequence, Θ(T) exhibits an opposite trend in the case of two substrates. Crossovers of the Θ(T) curves were often found. The positions of crossovers depend on the chemical character and concentration of solute atoms. Segregation and epitaxial texture formation after solidification were also observed in certain alloy drops, especially in high concentration range. This phenomenon is not yet explained in every detail. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=contact%20angle" title="contact angle">contact angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=graphite" title=" graphite"> graphite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silver" title=" silver"> silver</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=soldering" title=" soldering"> soldering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solid%20solubility" title=" solid solubility"> solid solubility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=substrate" title=" substrate"> substrate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temperature%20dependence" title=" temperature dependence"> temperature dependence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wetting" title=" wetting"> wetting</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25730/wetting-properties-of-silver-based-alloys" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/25730.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">413</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7456</span> Differential Effect of Technique Majors on Isokinetic Strength in Youth Judoka Athletes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chungyu%20Chen">Chungyu Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi-Cheng%20Chen"> Yi-Cheng Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Po-Hsian%20Hsu"> Po-Hsian Hsu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hsin-Ying%20Chen"> Hsin-Ying Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yen-Po%20Hsiao"> Yen-Po Hsiao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The purpose of this study was to assess the muscular strength performance of upper and lower extremity in isokinetic system for the youth judo players, and also to compare the strength difference between major techniques. Sixteen male and 20 female judo players (age: 16.7 ± 1.6 years old, training age: 4.5 ± 0.8 years) were served as the volunteers for this study. There were 21 players major hand techniques and 15 players major foot techniques. The Biodex S4 Pro was used to assess the strength performance of extensor and flexor of concentric action under the load condition of 30 degree/sec, 60 degree/sec, and 120 degree/sec for elbow joints and knee joints. The strength parameters were included the maximal torque, the normalized maximal torque, the average power, and the average maximal torque. A t test for independent groups was used to evaluate whether hand major and foot major differ significantly with an alpha level of .05. The result showed the maximal torque of left knee extensor in foot major players (243.5 ± 36.3 Nm) was higher significantly than hand major (210.7 ± 21.0 Nm) under the load of 30 degree/sec (p < .05). There were no differences in upper extremity strength between the hand and foot techniques major in three loads (ps < .05). It indicated that the judo player is required to develop the upper extremity strength overall to secure the execution of major techniques. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=knee" title="knee">knee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elbow" title=" elbow"> elbow</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=power" title=" power"> power</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=judo" title=" judo"> judo</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222/differential-effect-of-technique-majors-on-isokinetic-strength-in-youth-judoka-athletes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/68222.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">456</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7455</span> Green Synthesis of Nano Liposomes Containing Berberine Chlorideagainst Leishmania major</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Fattahi%20Bafghi">Ali Fattahi Bafghi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abolghasem%20Siyadatpanah"> Abolghasem Siyadatpanah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Farzaneh%20Mirzaei"> Farzaneh Mirzaei</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fahimeh%20Pournasir"> Fahimeh Pournasir</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Roghayeh%20Norouzi"> Roghayeh Norouzi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maria%20De%20Lourdes%20Pereira"> Maria De Lourdes Pereira</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Leishmaniasis caused by Leishmania major is one of the main infectious diseases that affect populations in developing countries around the world. We assessed the effectiveness of berberine chloride nano-liposome (BcNLs) against L. major promastigotes in vitro. Nano-liposomal berberine chloride was prepared using the thin-film hydration method and characterized based on encapsulation efficiency, size, and zeta potential. Anti-Leishmania effect of different concentrations (0.05-60 µg/ml) of BcNLs as studied in L. major [MRHO/IR/75/ER] at 24, 48, and 72 h using the hemocytometer technique. Berberine chloride was successfully loaded into nano-liposomes with an encapsulation efficiency of 85.54%. The surface charge of nanoparticles is neutral, and the morphology of nano-liposomal berberine chloride is spherical without any agglomeration. Cell viability assay was performed on the HFF cell line to show the biocompatibility of liposome nanoparticles. IC50 of BcNPs at 24, 48, and 72 h against L. major were found to be 7.6, 5.96, and 3.19 µg/ml, respectively. BcNLs showed a significant anti-Leishmania effect and induced a better and more tangible effect on the survival of L. major promastigotes and could be suitable candidates for further investigation. The results showed that the BcNLs agent is effective against L. major promastigotes and may be a promising alternative to current treatments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leishmania%20major" title="Leishmania major">Leishmania major</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=berberine%20chloride" title=" berberine chloride"> berberine chloride</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nano-liposomes" title=" nano-liposomes"> nano-liposomes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cutaneous%20leishmaniasis" title=" cutaneous leishmaniasis"> cutaneous leishmaniasis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136889/green-synthesis-of-nano-liposomes-containing-berberine-chlorideagainst-leishmania-major" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136889.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">151</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7454</span> Development of Antioxidant Rich Bakery Products by Applying Lysine and Maillard Reaction Products</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Attila%20Kiss">Attila Kiss</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Erzs%C3%A9bet%20N%C3%A9medi"> Erzsébet Némedi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zolt%C3%A1n%20Na%C3%A1r"> Zoltán Naár</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to the rapidly growing number of conscious customers in the recent years, more and more people look for products with positive physiological effects which may contribute to the preservation of their health. In response to these demands Food Science Research Institute of Budapest develops and introduces into the market new functional foods of guaranteed positive effect that contain bioactive agents. New, efficient technologies are also elaborated in order to preserve the maximum biological effect of the produced foods. The main objective of our work was the development of new functional biscuits fortified with physiologically beneficial ingredients. Bakery products constitute the base of the food nutrients’ pyramid, thus they might be regarded as foodstuffs of the largest consumed quantity. In addition to the well-known and certified physiological benefits of lysine, as an essential amino acid, a series of antioxidant type compounds is formed as a consequence of the occurring Maillard-reaction. Progress of the evoked Maillard-reaction was studied by applying diverse sugars (glucose, fructose, saccharose, isosugar) and lysine at several temperatures (120-170°C). Interval of thermal treatment was also varied (10-30 min). The composition and production technologies were tailored in order to reach the maximum of the possible biological benefits, so as to the highest antioxidant capacity in the biscuits. Out of the examined sugar components, theextent of the Maillard-reaction-driven transformation of glucose was the most pronounced at both applied temperatures. For the precise assessment of the antioxidant activity of the products FRAP and DPPH methods were adapted and optimised. To acquire an authentic and extensive mechanism of the occurring transformations, Maillard-reaction products were identified, and relevant reaction pathways were revealed. GC-MS and HPLC-MS techniques were applied for the analysis of the 60 generated MRPs and characterisation of actual transformation processes. 3 plausible major transformation routes might have been suggested based on the analytical result and the deductive sequence of possible occurring conversions between lysine and the sugars. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maillard-reaction" title="Maillard-reaction">Maillard-reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lysine" title=" lysine"> lysine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=antioxidant%20activity" title=" antioxidant activity"> antioxidant activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=GC-MS%20and%20HPLC-MS%20techniques" title=" GC-MS and HPLC-MS techniques"> GC-MS and HPLC-MS techniques</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22396/development-of-antioxidant-rich-bakery-products-by-applying-lysine-and-maillard-reaction-products" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/22396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">482</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7453</span> Major Incident Tier System in the Emergency Department: An Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Catherine%20Bernard">Catherine Bernard</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Paul%20Ransom"> Paul Ransom</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Recent events have prompted emergency planners to re-evaluate their emergency response to major incidents and mass casualties. Each tier offers step-by-step instructions on appropriate patient movement within and out of the department, as well as suggestions for overflow areas and additional staffing levels. This system can be adapted to individual hospitals and provides concise instructions to be followed in a potentially overwhelming situation. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=disaster%20planning" title="disaster planning">disaster planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emergency%20preparedness" title=" emergency preparedness"> emergency preparedness</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=major%20incident%20planning" title=" major incident planning"> major incident planning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mass%20casualty%20event" title=" mass casualty event"> mass casualty event</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85011/major-incident-tier-system-in-the-emergency-department-an-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/85011.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">375</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7452</span> The Need to Teach the Health Effects of Climate Change in Medical Schools</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%C3%81br%C3%A1m%20Zolt%C3%A1n">Ábrám Zoltán</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Climate change is now a major health risk, and its environmental and health effects have become frequently discussed topics. The consequences of climate change are clearly visible in natural disasters and excess deaths caused by extreme weather conditions. Global warming and the increasingly frequent extreme weather events have direct, immediate effects or long-term, indirect effects on health. For this reason, it is a need to teach the health effects of climate change in medical schools. Material and methods: We looked for various surveys, studies, and reports on the main pathways through which global warming affects health. Medical schools face the challenge of teaching the health implications of climate change and integrating knowledge about the health effects of climate change into medical training. For this purpose, there were organised World Café workshops for three target groups: medical students, academic staff, and practising medical doctors. Results: Among the goals of the research is the development of a detailed curriculum for medical students, which serves to expand their knowledge in basic education. At the same time, the project promotes the increase of teacher motivation and the development of methodological guidelines for university teachers; it also provides further training for practicing doctors. The planned teaching materials will be developed in a format suitable for traditional face-to-face teaching, as well as e-learning teaching materials. CLIMATEMED is a project based on the cooperation of six universities and institutions from four countries, the aim of which is to improve the curriculum and expand knowledge about the health effects of climate change at medical universities. Conclusions: In order to assess the needs, summarize the proposals, to develop the necessary strategy, World Café type, one-and-a-half to two-hour round table discussions will take place separately for medical students, academic staff, and practicing doctors. The CLIMATEMED project can facilitate the integration of knowledge about the health effects of climate change into curricula and can promote practical use. The avoidance of the unwanted effects of global warming and climate change is not only a public matter, but it is also a challenge to change our own lifestyle. It is the responsibility of all of us to protect the Earth's ecosystem and the physical and mental health of ourselves and future generations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=climate%20change" title="climate change">climate change</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=health%20effects" title=" health effects"> health effects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medical%20schools" title=" medical schools"> medical schools</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=World%20Caf%C3%A9" title=" World Café"> World Café</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=medical%20students" title=" medical students"> medical students</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158928/the-need-to-teach-the-health-effects-of-climate-change-in-medical-schools" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">83</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7451</span> A New Complex Method for Integrated Warehouse Design in Aspect of Dynamic and Static Capacity</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Tamas%20Hartvanyi">Tamas Hartvanyi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Andras%20Nagy"> Zoltan Andras Nagy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Miklos%20Szabo"> Miklos Szabo</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The dynamic and static capacity are two opposing aspect of warehouse design. Static capacity optimization aims to maximize the space-usage for goods storing, while dynamic capacity needs more free place to handling them. They are opposing by the building structure and the area utilization. According to Pareto principle: the 80% of the goods are the 20% of the variety. From the origin of this statement, it worth to store the big amount of same products by fulfill the space with minimal corridors, meanwhile the rest 20% of goods have the 80% variety of the whole range, so there is more important to be fast-reachable instead of the space utilizing, what makes the space fulfillment numbers worse. The warehouse design decisions made in present practice by intuitive and empiric impressions, the planning method is formed to one selected technology, making this way the structure of the warehouse homogeny. Of course the result can’t be optimal for the inhomogeneous demands. A new innovative model based on our research will be introduced in this paper to describe the technic capacities, what makes possible to define optimal cluster of technology. It is able to optimize the space fulfillment and the dynamic operation together with this cluster application. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warehouse" title="warehouse">warehouse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warehouse%20capacity" title=" warehouse capacity"> warehouse capacity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warehouse%20design%20method" title=" warehouse design method"> warehouse design method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=warehouse%20optimization" title=" warehouse optimization"> warehouse optimization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127517/a-new-complex-method-for-integrated-warehouse-design-in-aspect-of-dynamic-and-static-capacity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/127517.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">141</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7450</span> Genomic Analysis of Whole Genome Sequencing of Leishmania Major</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatimazahrae%20Elbakri">Fatimazahrae Elbakri</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Azeddine%20Ibrahimi"> Azeddine Ibrahimi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meryem%20Lemrani"> Meryem Lemrani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dris%20Belghyti"> Dris Belghyti</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Leishmaniasis represents a major public health problem because of the number of cases recorded each year and the wide distribution of the disease. It is a parasitic disease of flagellated protozoa transmitted by the bite of certain species of sandfly, causing a spectrum of clinical pathology in humans ranging from disfiguring skin lesions to fatal visceral leishmaniasis. Cutaneous leishmaniasis due to Leishmania major is a polymorphic disease; in fact, the infection can be asymptomatic, localized, or disseminated. The objective of this work is to determine the genomic diversity that contributes to clinical variability by trying to identify the variation in chromosome number and to extract SNPs and SNPs and InDels; it is based on four sequences (WGS) of Leishmania major available on NCBI in Fastq form, from three countries: Tunisia, Algeria, and Israel, the analysis is set up from a pipeline to facilitate the discovery of genetic diversity, in particular SNP and chromosomal somy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Leshmania%20major" title="Leshmania major">Leshmania major</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cutaneous%20Leishmania" title=" cutaneous Leishmania"> cutaneous Leishmania</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=NGS" title=" NGS"> NGS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=genomic" title=" genomic"> genomic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=somy" title=" somy"> somy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=variant%20calling" title=" variant calling"> variant calling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170783/genomic-analysis-of-whole-genome-sequencing-of-leishmania-major" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/170783.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">79</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7449</span> Influence of Major Axis on the Aerodynamic Characteristics of Elliptical Section</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=K.%20B.%20Rajasekarababu">K. Many engineering applications such as off shore structures, bridge piers, civil structures and pipelines can be modelled as a circular cylinder but flow over complex bodies like, submarines, Elliptical wing, fuselage, missiles, and rotor blades, in which the parameters such as axis ratio can influence the flow characteristics of the wake and nature of separation. Influence of Major axis in Flow characteristics of elliptical sections are examined both experimentally and computationally in this study. For this research, four elliptical models with varying major axis [*AR=1, 4, 6, 10] are analysed. Experimental works have been conducted in a subsonic wind tunnel. Furthermore, flow characteristics on elliptical model are predicted from k-ε turbulence model using the commercial CFD packages by pressure based transient solver with Standard wall conditions. The analysis can be extended to estimation and comparison of Drag coefficient and Fatigue analysis of elliptical sections. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=elliptical%20section" title="elliptical section">elliptical section</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=major%20axis" title=" major axis"> major axis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aerodynamic%20characteristics" title=" aerodynamic characteristics"> aerodynamic characteristics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=k-%CE%B5%20turbulence%20model" title=" k-ε turbulence model"> k-ε turbulence model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37294/influence-of-major-axis-on-the-aerodynamic-characteristics-of-elliptical-section" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37294.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">436</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7448</span> Effects of Major and Minor Modes to Emotional Perceptions of 'Happy' and 'Sad' in Piano Music among Students Aged 9-17</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurezlin%20Mohd%20Azib">Nurezlin Mohd Azib</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pan%20Kok%20Chang"> Pan Kok Chang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This quantitative study investigates the effects of major and minor modes, and contributing musical parameter of tempo, to the emotional perceptions of ‘happy’ and ‘sad’ in piano music among subjects aged 9-17 years old. The study was conducted in two phases; survey-questionnaire, and listening activity. Subjects (N=31) were sampled from piano music students’ population in Bangi, Selangor. In the survey-questionnaire, subjects answered 20 questions on demographic characteristics, music listening and preference, and understanding of emotional perception in music. In the listening activity, subjects listened to 20 untitled piano music excerpts and rated the emotion perceived for each excerpt, whether ‘happy’ or ‘sad’. Results from survey-questionnaire show that most percentage of subjects are 11 years old, in Grade 1, of 3 years of learning piano, prefer classical music, always listen to music, prefer both major and minor modes’ music, and find it easy to understand emotion in music, as well as major and minor modes. Results from listening activity show that 60 % of major mode music are perceived as ‘major-happy’, while 60 % too, of minor mode music are perceived as ‘minor-sad’. However, Chi-square test of independence statistical analysis indicates that there are no association and significant relationship between modes (major and minor) and ‘happy’, as well as ‘sad’ perceptions (x2 (1, N = 20) = 0.80, p = 0.371), at the significance level of p ≤ 0.05. Contrastingly, there are association and significant relationship between tempo (fast and slow), and ‘happy’, as well as ‘sad’ perceptions (x2 (1, N = 20) = 9.899, p = 0.005). Therefore, it is concluded that tempo plays an important role in effects of major and minor mode to ‘happy’ and ‘sad’ emotional perceptions in piano music among subjects aged 9 to 17 in this study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=effects" title="effects">effects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=emotional%20perceptions" title=" emotional perceptions"> emotional perceptions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=major%20and%20minor%20modes" title=" major and minor modes"> major and minor modes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=piano%20music" title=" piano music"> piano music</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55914/effects-of-major-and-minor-modes-to-emotional-perceptions-of-happy-and-sad-in-piano-music-among-students-aged-9-17" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55914.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">216</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7447</span> Appropriate Depth of Needle Insertion during Rhomboid Major Trigger Point Block</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Seongho%20Jang">Seongho Jang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: To investigate an appropriate depth of needle insertion during trigger point injection into the rhomboid major muscle. Methods: Sixty-two patients who visited our department with shoulder or upper back pain participated in this study. The distance between the skin and the rhomboid major muscle (SM) and the distance between the skin and rib (SB) were measured using ultrasonography. The subjects were divided into 3 groups according to BMI: BMI less than 23 kg/m2 (underweight or normal group); 23 kg/m2 or more to less than 25 kg/m2 (overweight group); and 25 kg/m2 or more (obese group). The mean ±standard deviation (SD) of SM and SB of each group were calculated. A range between mean+1 SD of SM and the mean-1 SD of SB was defined as a safe margin. Results: The underweight or normal group’s SM, SB, and the safe margin were 1.2±0.2, 2.1±0.4, and 1.4 to 1.7 cm, respectively. The overweight group’s SM and SB were 1.4±0.2 and 2.4±0.9 cm, respectively. The safe margin could not be calculated for this group. The obese group’s SM, SB, and the safe margin were 1.8±0.3, 2.7±0.5, and 2.1 to 2.2 cm, respectively. Conclusion: This study will help us to set the standard depth of safe needle insertion into the rhomboid major muscle in an effective manner without causing any complications. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pneumothorax" title="pneumothorax">pneumothorax</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rhomboid%20major%20muscle" title=" rhomboid major muscle"> rhomboid major muscle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=trigger%20point%20injection" title=" trigger point injection"> trigger point injection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasound" title=" ultrasound "> ultrasound </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37418/appropriate-depth-of-needle-insertion-during-rhomboid-major-trigger-point-block" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37418.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">290</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7446</span> Selective and Highly Sensitive Measurement of ¹⁵NH₃ Using Photoacoustic Spectroscopy for Environmental Applications</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Emily%20Awuor">Emily Awuor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Helga%20Huszar"> Helga Huszar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Bozoki"> Zoltan Bozoki</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Isotope analysis has found numerous applications in the environmental science discipline, most common being the tracing of environmental contaminants on both regional and global scales. Many environmental contaminants contain ammonia (NH₃) since it is the most abundant gas in the atmosphere and its largest sources are from agricultural and industrial activities. NH₃ isotopes (¹⁴NH₃ and ¹⁵NH₃) are therefore important and can be used in the traceability studies of these atmospheric pollutants. The goal of the project is the construction of a photoacoustic spectroscopy system that is capable of measuring ¹⁵NH₃ isotope selectively in terms of its concentration. A further objective is for the system to be robust, easy-to-use, and automated. This is provided by using two telecommunication type near-infrared distributed feedback (DFB) diode lasers and a laser coupler as the light source in the photoacoustic measurement system. The central wavelength of the lasers in use was 1532 nm, with the tuning range of ± 1 nm. In this range, strong absorption lines can be found for both ¹⁴NH₃ and ¹⁵NH₃. For the selective measurement of ¹⁵NH₃, wavelengths were chosen where the cross effect of ¹⁴NH₃ and water vapor is negligible. We completed the calibration of the photoacoustic system, and as a result, the lowest detectable concentration was 3.32 ppm (3Ϭ) in the case of ¹⁵NH₃ and 0.44 ppm (3Ϭ) in the case of ¹⁴NH₃. The results are most useful in the environmental pollution measurement and analysis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ammonia%20isotope" title="ammonia isotope">ammonia isotope</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=near-infrared%20DFB%20diode%20laser" title=" near-infrared DFB diode laser"> near-infrared DFB diode laser</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photoacoustic%20spectroscopy" title=" photoacoustic spectroscopy"> photoacoustic spectroscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20monitoring" title=" environmental monitoring"> environmental monitoring</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131559/selective-and-highly-sensitive-measurement-of-15nh3-using-photoacoustic-spectroscopy-for-environmental-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/131559.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">148</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7445</span> Organization of the Olfactory System and the Mushroom Body of the Weaver Ant, Oecophylla smaragdina</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rajashekhar%20K.%20Patil">Rajashekhar K. The females which include the queen, major and minor workers are haploid. The individuals of castes are dependent on olfactory cues for carrying out caste-specific behaviour. In an effort to understand whether organizational differences exist to support these behavioural differences, we studied the olfactory system at the level of the sensilla on the antennae, olfactory glomeruli and the Kenyon cells in the mushroom bodies (MB). The MB differ in major and minor workers in terms of their size, with the major workers having relatively larger calyces and peduncle. The morphology of different types of Kenyon cells as revealed by Golgi-rapid staining was studied and the major workers had more dendritic arbors than minor workers. This suggests a greater degree of olfactory processing in major workers. Differences in caste-specific arrangement of sensilla, olfactory glomeruli and celluar architecture of MB indicate a developmental programme that forms basis of differential behaviour. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ant" title="ant">ant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oecophylla" title=" oecophylla"> oecophylla</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=caste" title=" caste"> caste</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mushroom%20body" title=" mushroom body"> mushroom body</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16555/organization-of-the-olfactory-system-and-the-mushroom-body-of-the-weaver-ant-oecophylla-smaragdina" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/16555.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">471</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7444</span> Examining the Level of Career Maturity on Cultural Aspect among Undergraduate Foreign Students in A Public University in Malaysia</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mustafa%20Tekke">Mustafa Tekke</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nurullah%20Kurt"> Nurullah Kurt</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study examined the level of career maturity of undergraduate foreign students in a public university in Malaysia by examining on cultural aspect by using the Career Maturity Inventory. The application of the bioenergy can mitigate the energy dependency of a country from the foreign natural gas and the petroleum. The diversity of the plant materials makes difficult the utilization of the raw biomass in power plants. This problem can be overcome by the application of thermochemical techniques. Pyrolysis is the thermal decomposition of the raw materials under inert atmosphere at high temperatures, which produces pyrolysis gas, biooil and charcoal. The energy content of these products can be exploited by further utilization. The differences in the chemical and physical properties of the raw biomass materials can be reduced by the use of torrefaction. Torrefaction is a promising mild thermal pretreatment method performed at temperatures between 200 and 300 °C in an inert atmosphere. The goal of the pretreatment from a chemical point of view is the removal of water and the acidic groups of hemicelluloses or the whole hemicellulose fraction with minor degradation of cellulose and lignin in the biomass. Thus, the stability of biomass against biodegradation increases, while its energy density increases. The volume of the raw materials decreases so the expenses of the transportation and the storage are reduced as well. Biooil is the major product during pyrolysis and an important by-product during torrefaction of biomass. The composition of biooil mostly depends on the quality of the raw materials and the applied temperature. In this work, thermoanalytical techniques have been used to study the qualitative and quantitative composition of the pyrolysis and torrefaction oils of a woody (black locust) and two herbaceous samples (rape straw and wheat straw). The biooil contains C5 and C6 anhydrosugar molecules, as well as aromatic compounds originating from hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin, respectively. In this study, special emphasis was placed on the formation of the lignin monomeric products. The structure of the lignin fraction is different in the wood and in the herbaceous plants. According to the thermoanalytical studies the decomposition of lignin starts above 200 °C and ends at about 500 °C. The lignin monomers are present among the components of the torrefaction oil even at relatively low temperatures. We established that the concentration and the composition of the lignin products vary significantly with the applied temperature indicating that different decomposition mechanisms dominate at low and high temperatures. The evolutions of decomposition products as well as the thermal stability of the samples were measured by thermogravimetry/mass spectrometry (TG/MS). The differences in the structure of the lignin products of woody and herbaceous samples were characterized by the method of pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). As a statistical method, principal component analysis (PCA) has been used to find correlation between the composition of lignin products of the biooil and the applied temperatures. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=pyrolysis" title="pyrolysis">pyrolysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=torrefaction" title=" torrefaction"> torrefaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biooil" title=" biooil"> biooil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=lignin" title=" lignin"> lignin</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59154/the-composition-of-biooil-during-biomass-pyrolysis-at-various-temperatures" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59154.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">329</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7441</span> Efficient Ni(II)-Containing Layered Triple Hydroxide-Based Catalysts: Synthesis, Characterisation and Their Role in the Heck Reaction</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gabor%20Varga">Gabor Varga</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Krisztina%20Karadi"> Krisztina Karadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Konya"> Zoltan Konya</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akos%20Kukovecz"> Akos Kukovecz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pal%20Sipos"> Pal Sipos</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Istvan%20Palinko"> Istvan Palinko</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nickel can efficiently replace palladium in the Heck, Suzuki and Negishi reactions. This study focuses on the synthesis and catalytic application of Ni(II)-containing layered double hydroxides (LDHs) and layered triple hydroxides (LTHs). Our goals were to incorporate Ni(II) ions among the layers of LDHs or LTHs, or binding it to their surface or building it into their layers in such a way that their catalytic activities are maintained or even increased. The LDHs and LTHs were prepared by the co-precipitation method using ethylene glycol as co-solvent. In several cases, post-synthetic modifications (e.g., thermal treatment) were performed. After optimizing the synthesis conditions, the composites displayed good crystallinity and were free of byproducts. The success of the syntheses and the post-synthetic modifications was confirmed by relevant characterization methods (XRD, SEM, SEM-EDX and combined IR techniques). Catalytic activities of the produced and well-characterized solids were investigated through the Heck reaction. The composites behaved as efficient, recyclable catalysts in the Heck reaction between 4-bromoanisole and styrene. Through varying the reaction parameters, we were able to obtain acceptable conversions under mild conditions. Our study highlights the possibility of the application of Ni(II)-containing composites as efficient catalysts in coupling reactions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=layered%20double%20hydroxide" title="layered double hydroxide">layered double hydroxide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=layered%20triple%20hydroxide" title=" layered triple hydroxide"> layered triple hydroxide</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heterogeneous%20catalysis" title=" heterogeneous catalysis"> heterogeneous catalysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heck%20reaction" title=" heck reaction"> heck reaction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95373/efficient-niii-containing-layered-triple-hydroxide-based-catalysts-synthesis-characterisation-and-their-role-in-the-heck-reaction" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95373.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">174</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7440</span> Psychological Aspects of Depression among the Romanian Adults</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zoltan%20Abram">Zoltan Abram</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: In the last time it was hardly increased the prevalence of psychical diseases and disorders which reduce work capacity, life quality and life expectancy.
