And they will say, Nay; for in the street we will pass the night. <A name="4"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-3.htm"><b>3</b></a></span>And he will press upon them greatly; and they will turn aside to him, and they will come in to his house; and he will make to them a drinking, and he baked unleavened loaves, and they will eat. <A name="5"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-4.htm"><b>4</b></a></span>Before the men of the city shall lie down, the men of Sodom surrounded the house about, from youth, even to old age, all the people from the end. <A name="6"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-5.htm"><b>5</b></a></span>And they will call to Lot, and will say to him, Where the men which came to thee this night? bring them out to us and we shall know them. <A name="7"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-6.htm"><b>6</b></a></span>And Lot went forth to them to the entrance, and shut the door after him, <A name="8"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-7.htm"><b>7</b></a></span>And he will say, Now my brothers, ye shall not be evil. <A name="9"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-8.htm"><b>8</b></a></span>Behold now, to me two daughters who have not known man'; now I will bring them forth to you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only to these men ye shall not do any thing; for, for this they came in the shadow of my city. <A name="10"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-9.htm"><b>9</b></a></span>And they will say, Stand off. son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and all which are to thee in the city, bring forth out of this place. <A name="14"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-13.htm"><b>13</b></a></span>For we destroy this place, for their cry was great at the face of Jehovah; and Jehovah will send us to destroy it. <A name="15"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-14.htm"><b>14</b></a></span>And Lot will go out, and will speak to his sons-in-law, having taken his daughters, and he will say, Rise ye up, go forth out of this place; for Jehovah destroys the city: and he will be as laughing in the eyes of his sons-in-law.<p> <A name="16"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-15.htm"><b>15</b></a></span>And when the dawn arose, the messengers will hasten upon Lot, saying, Rise up, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, being found, lest thou shalt be destroyed in the iniquity of the city. <A name="17"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-16.htm"><b>16</b></a></span>And he shall linger, and the men will hold fast upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; in Jehovah's having compassion upon him; and they shall bring him forth, and lead him without the city. <A name="18"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-17.htm"><b>17</b></a></span>And it shall be when having brought them forth without, he will say, Escape for thy life; thou shalt not look behind thee, and thou shalt not stay in all the circuit: escape to the mountain, lest thou shalt be <RF q=*><font color=#808080><i>The hard copy spelling records the following as:</i></font> destoyed<Rf>destroyed. <A name="19"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-18.htm"><b>18</b></a></span>And Lot will say to them, Nay, now, Lord! <A name="20"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-19.htm"><b>19</b></a></span>Behold now, thy servant found grace in thine eyes, and thou wilt magnify thy kindness, what thou didst by me to make my soul live: and I shall not be able to escape to the mountain so evil over-taking me, and I die. <A name="21"></a><span class="reftext"><a href="/genesis/19-20.htm"><b>20</b></a></span>Behold now, this city drawing nigh to flee there, and it is small: now I shall be saved there, is it not small?
