The Bible begins with the affirmation of God's existence and His role as the Creator of all things. Genesis 1:1 states, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." This verse establishes that God exists outside of time and space and is the originator of all that exists.

God's Self-Existence

God's existence is self-sustaining and independent. In Exodus 3:14 , God reveals Himself to Moses with the name "I AM WHO I AM." This declaration signifies God's eternal and unchanging nature. Unlike created beings, God's existence is not contingent upon anything else. He is the self-existent One, the source of all life and being.

Creation and Existence

The Bible teaches that all of creation exists because of God's will and power. Colossians 1:16-17 affirms, "For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." This passage underscores that everything that exists does so through Christ, who sustains all creation.

Human Existence

Human existence is portrayed in the Bible as purposeful and intentional. Genesis 1:27 states, "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Humanity's existence is unique in that people are made in the image of God, reflecting His attributes and possessing inherent dignity and worth.

Existence and Faith

The Bible emphasizes faith in the existence of God as a fundamental aspect of a believer's life. Hebrews 11:6 declares, "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him." Faith in God's existence is the starting point for a relationship with Him and is essential for understanding His nature and purposes.

Eternal Existence

The Bible also speaks of eternal existence, both for God and for humanity. God's eternal nature is highlighted in passages such as Psalm 90:2 , "Before the mountains were born or You brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting You are God." For humans, eternal existence is promised through faith in Jesus Christ, as seen in John 3:16 , "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Existence and Purpose

The Scriptures reveal that existence is not random or meaningless. Ecclesiastes 12:13 concludes, "When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind." The Bible teaches that human existence has a divine purpose: to know God, to worship Him, and to live according to His will.

In summary, the Bible presents existence as a profound reality rooted in the nature of God, who is the Creator and Sustainer of all. Human existence is marked by purpose and the potential for eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Greek
3762. oudeis and outheis, oudemia, ouden and outhen -- no one ...
... withing the premise (supposition).
