These materials are often the only granular resources readily available in many tropical regions. In the first step concretes were designed with raw laterites, but the performances obtained were rather disappointing in spite of high cement dosages. A detailed physical characterization of these materials then showed that they contained a significant proportion of fine clays, and that the coarsest fraction (gravel) contained a variety of facies, some of which were not very dense or indurated. Washing these laterites, and even the elimination of the most friable grains of the gravel fraction, made it possible to obtain concretes with satisfactory properties in terms of workability, density and mechanical strength. However, they were found to be slightly less stiff than concretes made with more traditional aggregates. It is therefore possible to obtain structural concretes with only laterites and cement but at the cost of eliminating some of their granular constituents. </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Laterites" title="Laterites">Laterites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=aggregates" title=" aggregates"> aggregates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=concretes" title=" concretes"> concretes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=mix%20design" title=" mix design"> mix design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=mechanical%20properties." title=" mechanical properties."> mechanical properties.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/use-of-benin-laterites-for-the-mix-design-of-structural-concrete" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10012757.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">423</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">15</span> Improvement of Gregory&#039;s formula using Particle Swarm Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=N.%20Khelil.%20L.%20Djerou">N. This study may be difficult. This will depend on the problem under consideration (geometry, control and dimension) and the numerical method used. Knowledge of the asymptotic behaviour of the control governing the system at time T may be useful for its calculation. This idea will be developed in this study. We have characterized as a first step, the solution by a minimization principle and proposed secondly a method for its resolution to approximate the control steering the considered system to rest at time T. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Boundary%20control" title="Boundary control">Boundary control</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=exact%20controllability" title=" exact controllability"> exact controllability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=finite%0D%0Adifference%20methods" title=" finite difference methods"> finite difference methods</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=functional%20optimization." title=" functional optimization."> functional optimization.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/an-approximation-method-for-exact-boundary-controllability-of-euler-bernoulli-system" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003220.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1487</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">12</span> Numerical Investigation of the Jacketing Method of Reinforced Concrete Column </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=S.%20Boukais">S. Four models were evaluated, one by considering perfect contact, the other three models by using friction coefficient of 0.1, 0.3 and 0.5. The simulation was carried out by using Abaqus software. The obtained results show that the jacketing reinforcement led to significant increase of the global performance of the behavior of the simulated reinforced concrete column. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Strengthening" title="Strengthening">Strengthening</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=jacketing" title=" jacketing"> jacketing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=reinforced%20concrete%20column" title=" reinforced concrete column"> reinforced concrete column</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=3D%20simulation" title=" 3D simulation"> 3D simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Abaqus." title=" Abaqus. This work answers to a problem of ultrasonics NDT like Identification of the defects. The problems as well as the objective of this realized work, are divided in three parts: Extractions of the parameters of wavelets from the ultrasonic echo of the detected defect - the second part is devoted to principal components analysis (PCA) for optimization of the attributes vector. And finally to establish the algorithm of classification (SVM, Support Vector Machine) which allows discrimination between a plane defect and a volumic defect. We have completed this work by a conclusion where we draw up a summary of the completed works, as well as the robustness of the various algorithms proposed in this study. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=NDT" title="NDT">NDT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=PCA" title=" PCA"> PCA</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=SVM" title=" SVM"> SVM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=ultrasonics" title=" ultrasonics"> ultrasonics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=wavelet" title=" wavelet"> wavelet</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/classification-of-defects-by-the-svm-method-and-the-principal-component-analysis-pca" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5278.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2002</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">10</span> Sound Insulation between Buildings: The Impact Noise Transmission through Different Floor Configurations</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Abdelouahab%20Bouttout">Abdelouahab Bouttout</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Mohamed%20Amara"> Mohamed Amara</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The present paper examines the impact noise transmission through some floor building assemblies. The Acoubat software numerical simulation has been used to simulate the impact noise transmission through different floor configurations used in Algerian construction mode. The results are compared with the available measurements. We have developed two experimental methods, i) field method, and ii) laboratory method using Br&uuml;el and Kj&aelig;r equipments. The results show that the different cases of floor configurations need some improvement to ensure the acoustic comfort in the receiving apartment. The recommended value of the impact sound level in the receiving room should not exceed 58 dB. The important results obtained in this paper can be used as platform to improve the Algerian building acoustic regulation aimed at the construction of the multi-storey residential building. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Impact%20noise" title="Impact noise">Impact noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=building%20acoustic" title=" building acoustic"> building acoustic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=floor%20insulation" title=" floor insulation"> floor insulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=resilient%20material." title=" resilient material."> resilient material.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/sound-insulation-between-buildings-the-impact-noise-transmission-through-different-floor-configurations" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10003431.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">2703</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">9</span> Numerical Study of Fiber Bragg Grating Sensor: Longitudinal and Transverse Detection of Temperature and Strain</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=K.%20Khelil">K. It acts as a selective filter of wavelength whose reflected peak is called Bragg wavelength and it depends on the period of the fiber and the refractive index. The simulation of FBG is based on solving the Coupled Mode Theory equation by using the Transfer Matrix Method which is carried out using MATLAB. It is found that spectral reflectivity is shifted when the change of temperature and strain is uniform. Under non-uniform temperature or strain perturbation, the spectrum is both shifted and destroyed. In case of transverse loading, reflectivity spectrum is split into two peaks, the first is specific to X axis, and the second belongs to Y axis. FBGs are used in civil engineering to detect perturbations applied to buildings.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Bragg%20wavelength" title="Bragg wavelength">Bragg wavelength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=coupled%20mode%20theory" title=" coupled mode theory"> coupled mode theory</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=optical%20fiber" title=" optical fiber"> optical fiber</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=temperature%20measurement." title=" temperature measurement."> temperature measurement.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/numerical-study-of-fiber-bragg-grating-sensor-longitudinal-and-transverse-detection-of-temperature-and-strain" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10011065.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">885</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">8</span> Managing Multiple Change Projects in Supply Chains: A Case Study of a Moroccan Multi-Technical Services Company</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Abdelouahab%20Errida">Abdelouahab Errida</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Bouchra%20Lotfi"> Bouchra Lotfi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Elalami%20Semma"> Elalami Semma</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, we try to address the topic of multiple change management by adopting an engineered research methodology, conducted within a Moroccan company during its implementation of several change projects that aim at improving its supply chain management performance. Firstly, we present the key concepts related to our research, namely change management, multiproject management and supply chain management. Then, we try to assess how the change management and multi-project management are applied in this company. Finally, we try to propose an approach that will help managers in dealing with multiple change projects. This approach proposes to integrate change management, project management and multi-project management for managing change projects according to three organizational levels: executive level, project portfolio level and change project level. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Change%20management" title="Change management">Change management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=multi-project%20management" title=" multi-project management"> multi-project management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=project%20management" title=" project management"> project management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=change%20portfolio" title=" change portfolio"> change portfolio</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=supply%20chain%20management." title=" supply chain management."> supply chain management.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/managing-multiple-change-projects-in-supply-chains-a-case-study-of-a-moroccan-multi-technical-services-company" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/10009842.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1054</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">7</span> 2D Gabor Functions and FCMI Algorithm for Flaws Detection in Ultrasonic Images</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Kechida%20Ahmed">Kechida Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Drai%20Redouane"> Drai Redouane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Khelil%20Mohamed"> Khelil Mohamed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper we present a new approach to detecting a flaw in T.O.F.D (Time Of Flight Diffraction) type ultrasonic image based on texture features. Texture is one of the most important features used in recognizing patterns in an image. The paper describes texture features based on 2D Gabor functions, i.e., Gaussian shaped band-pass filters, with dyadic treatment of the radial spatial frequency range and multiple orientations, which represent an appropriate choice for tasks requiring simultaneous measurement in both space and frequency domains. The most relevant features are used as input data on a Fuzzy c-mean clustering classifier. The classes that exist are only two: 'defects' or 'no defects'. The proposed approach is tested on the T.O.F.D image achieved at the laboratory and on the industrial field. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=2D%20Gabor%20Functions" title="2D Gabor Functions">2D Gabor Functions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=flaw%20detection" title=" flaw detection"> flaw detection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=fuzzy%20c-mean%0D%0Aclustering" title=" fuzzy c-mean clustering"> fuzzy c-mean clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=non%20destructive%20testing" title=" non destructive testing"> non destructive testing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=texture%20analysis" title=" texture analysis"> texture analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=T.O.F.D%20Image%0D%0A%28Time%20of%20Flight%20Diffraction%29." title=" T.O.F.D Image (Time of Flight Diffraction)."> T.O.F.D Image (Time of Flight Diffraction).</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/2d-gabor-functions-and-fcmi-algorithm-for-flaws-detection-in-ultrasonic-images" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/6044.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1751</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">6</span> A New Hybrid RMN Image Segmentation Algorithm</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Abdelouahab%20Moussaoui">Abdelouahab Moussaoui</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Nabila%20Ferahta"> Nabila Ferahta</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Victor%20Chen"> Victor Chen</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The development of aid's systems for the medical diagnosis is not easy thing because of presence of inhomogeneities in the MRI, the variability of the data from a sequence to the other as well as of other different source distortions that accentuate this difficulty. A new automatic, contextual, adaptive and robust segmentation procedure by MRI brain tissue classification is described in this article. A first phase consists in estimating the density of probability of the data by the Parzen-Rozenblatt method. The classification procedure is completely automatic and doesn't make any assumptions nor on the clusters number nor on the prototypes of these clusters since these last are detected in an automatic manner by an operator of mathematical morphology called skeleton by influence zones detection (SKIZ). The problem of initialization of the prototypes as well as their number is transformed in an optimization problem; in more the procedure is adaptive since it takes in consideration the contextual information presents in every voxel by an adaptive and robust non parametric model by the Markov fields (MF). The number of bad classifications is reduced by the use of the criteria of MPM minimization (Maximum Posterior Marginal). <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Clustering" title="Clustering">Clustering</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Automatic%20Classification" title=" Automatic Classification"> Automatic Classification</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=SKIZ" title=" SKIZ"> SKIZ</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=MarkovFields" title=" MarkovFields"> MarkovFields</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Image%20segmentation" title=" Image segmentation"> Image segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Maximum%20Posterior%20Marginal%20%28MPM%29." title=" Maximum Posterior Marginal (MPM)."> Maximum Posterior Marginal (MPM).</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/a-new-hybrid-rmn-image-segmentation-algorithm" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5907.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">1412</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">5</span> Seismic Performance of Reinforced Concrete Frame Structure Based on Plastic Rotation</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Kahil%20Amar">Kahil Amar</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Meziani%20Faroudja"> Meziani Faroudja</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Khelil%20Nacim"> Khelil Nacim</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>The principal objective of this study is the evaluation of the seismic performance of reinforced concrete frame structures, taking into account of the behavior laws, reflecting the real behavior of materials, using CASTEM2000 software. The bar-concrete adherence in reinforced concrete (RC) beam is studied and focus is made on the tension stiffening parameter. This study highlighted an approach to observe this interaction behavior in bending test instead of direct tension as per reported in many references. The approach resembles actual loading condition of the structural RC beam. The tension stiffening properties are then applied to numerical finite element analysis (FEA) to verify their correlation with laboratory results. Comparison with laboratory shows a good correlation between the two. The experimental settings is able to determine tension stiffening parameters in RC beam and the modeling strategies made in ABAQUS can closely represent the actual condition. Tension stiffening model used can represent the interaction properties between inoxydable steel and concrete. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Inoxydable%20steel" title="Inoxydable steel">Inoxydable steel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Finite%20element%20modeling" title=" Finite element modeling"> Finite element modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Reinforced%20concrete%20beam" title=" Reinforced concrete beam"> Reinforced concrete beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Tension-stiffening." title=" Tension-stiffening."> Tension-stiffening.</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/tension-stiffening-parameter-in-composite-concrete-reinforced-with-inoxydable-steel-laboratory-and-finite-element-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/apa" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">APA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/bibtex" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">BibTeX</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/chicago" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Chicago</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/endnote" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">EndNote</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/harvard" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Harvard</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/json" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">JSON</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/mla" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">MLA</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/ris" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">RIS</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/xml" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">XML</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549/iso690" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">ISO 690</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/5549.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">4296</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card publication-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3</span> Evaluation of the Acoustic Performance of Classrooms in Algerian Teaching Schools</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Bouttout%20Abdelouahab">Bouttout Abdelouahab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Amara%20Mohamed"> Amara Mohamed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Djakabe%20Saad"> Djakabe Saad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Remram%20Youcef"> Remram Youcef</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> <p>This paper presents the results of an evaluation of acoustic comfort such as background noise and reverberation time in teaching rooms in Height National School of Civil Engineering, Algeria. Four teaching rooms are evaluated: conference room, two classroom and amphitheatre. The acoustic quality of the classrooms has been analyzed based on measurements of sound pressure level inside room and reverberations time. The measurement results show that impulse decays dependent on the position of the microphone inside room and the background noise is with agreement of National Official Journal of Algeria published in July 1993. Therefore there exists a discrepancy between the obtained reverberation time value and recommended reverberation time in some classrooms. Three methods have been proposed to reduce the reverberation time values in such room. We developed a program with FORTRAN 6.0 language based on the absorption acoustic values of the Technical Document Regulation (DTR C3.1.1). The important results of this paper can be used to regulate the construction and execute the acoustic rehabilitations of teaching room in Algeria, especially the classrooms of the pupils in primary and secondary schools.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Room%20acoustic" title="Room acoustic">Room acoustic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=reverberation%20time" title=" reverberation time"> reverberation time</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=background%20noise" title=" background noise"> background noise</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=absorptions%20materials." title=" absorptions materials. These models as well as the confinement are integrated in the Cast3m finite element calculation code. The consideration of confinement (TAC, taking into account the confinement) provided by the transverse reinforcement and the non-consideration of confinement (without consideration of containment, WCC) in the presence and absence of a vertical load is studied. The application was made on a reinforced concrete frame (RC/frame) with 3 levels and 2 spans. The results show that on the one hand, the concrete_BAEL model slightly underestimates the resistance of the RC/frame in the plastic field, whereas the concrete_uni model presents the best results compared to the simplified model &quot;concrete_BAEL&quot;, on the other hand, for the concrete-uni model, taking into account the confinement has no influence on the behavior of the RC/frame under imposed displacement up to a vertical load of 500 KN.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Reinforced%20concrete" title="Reinforced concrete">Reinforced concrete</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=nonlinear%20calculation" title=" nonlinear calculation"> nonlinear calculation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=behavior%20laws" title=" behavior laws"> behavior laws</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=fiber%20model%20confinement" title=" fiber model confinement"> fiber model confinement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=numerical%20simulation." title=" numerical simulation. The physical and mechanical changes in the mixes were evaluated using non-destructive tests (Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV)) and destructive tests (crushing tests) on 28 day-long specimens consecutively, in order to assess CSF and CH replacement rate influence on the mechanical and physical properties of the mortars, as well as CSF-CH pre-mixing on the improvement of these properties. A significant improvement of the mechanical properties of the CSF, CSF-CH mortars, has been noted. CSF-CH mixes showed the best improvements exceeding 50% improvement, showing the sizable pozzolanic reaction contribution to the specimen strength development. UPV tests have shown increased velocities for CSF and CSH mixes, however no proportional evolution with compressive strengths could be noted. The results of the study show that CSF-CH addition could represent a suitable solution to significantly increase the mechanical properties of mortars.</p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=Compressive%20strength" title="Compressive strength">Compressive strength</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=condensed%20silica%20fume" title=" condensed silica fume"> condensed silica fume</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=hydrated%20lime" title=" hydrated lime"> hydrated lime</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=pozzolanic%20reaction" title=" pozzolanic reaction"> pozzolanic reaction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/search?q=UPV%20testing." title=" UPV testing.
