representatives made on the constitution. The constitution was written in May of 1787 and in the city of Philadelphia. It's purpose was to protect human rights and guard tyranny. How did the constitution protect humans from the harsh act of tyranny? Tyranny is rule by a dictator or a king or strong group. It results when the ruler or rulers have too much power. The Constitution guarded against tyranny in four ways which were federalism, <a href='/topics/separation-of-powers' style='color:#3174a3'>separation of powers</a>, checks and balances, and .big states vs. small states.<br /> <br /> The first guard against tyranny was federalism which means the relationship with the states and the central government. For example, setting up courts and making laws are two powers that the states and central government share. Federalism protects against tyranny by distributing certain powers between the central government and the states neither could gain absolute power over the nation or the nation's people. Federalism is a huge part of the constitution because you can't have the government without the people. Government is for the people and without the people's opinions the government would collapse.<a data-href=/writing/document/94196DFA53A92BF9 class="document__middle white-space--normal source-serif text-l" rel="nofollow" style="cursor:pointer;white-space: normal;"> <i>…show more content…</i> </a></p></span><span class="document__preview text-l source-serif "><p class='text-ellipsis-after'>The judicial branch is being separated by being invested in one Supreme court. Whatever the shape or the size, tyranny is a problem because it means too much power in the hands of one person or group. In the summer of 1787, the writers of the constitution met in Philadelphia to frame a new government. One of their biggest jobs was to protect against different kinds of tyranny. The framers did this in four ways: federalism, separation of powers, checks and balances, and finally, by balancing out power between small states and large states.</p></div><div class="columns large-1-5 position-relative show-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col"><ul><li>108 Words</li><li>1 Pages</li></ul></div><div class="columns large-2 show-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-satisfactory-essays"><div><span>Satisfactory Essays</span></div></div><div class="small-12 medium-12 large-1-5 position-relative card-grade-essay-button-col"><a class="button text-m " href="/essay/Tyranny-During-The-Summer-Of-1787-FJJ5VWAE7DV">Read More</a></div></div></li><li id="related-essay9"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-12 card box-shadow card-grade-essay paper no-padding"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 hide-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-decent-essays"><div><span>Decent Essays</span></div></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 position-relative hide-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col padding-left-1-imp"><a href="/essay/How-Does-the-Constitution-Protect-the-People-FKASGUSVJ" class="hide-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">How Does the Constitution Protect the People from Tyranny? How did the United States accomplish this? After the Revolutionary War, the Founding Fathers decided to construct a government that was of the people, by the people, and for the people. By doing so, they needed to prevent the more than likely possibility of overbearing power falling into the hands of one or a few people, in other words a prevention of tyranny was needed (1769). This structure was stated in the Constitution, a written document that framed our American government, and so the Constitution declared four ways to prevent tyranny: Federalism, Separation of Power, Checks and Balances, and the Great compromise.</p></div><div class="columns large-1-5 position-relative show-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col"><ul><li>721 Words</li><li>3 Pages</li><li>2 Works Cited</li></ul></div><div class="columns large-2 show-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-decent-essays"><div><span>Decent Essays</span></div></div><div class="small-12 medium-12 large-1-5 position-relative card-grade-essay-button-col"><a class="button text-m " href="/essay/How-Does-the-Constitution-Protect-the-People-FKASGUSVJ">Read More</a></div></div></li><li id="related-essay10"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-12 card box-shadow card-grade-essay paper no-padding"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 hide-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-decent-essays"><div><span>Decent Essays</span></div></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 position-relative hide-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col padding-left-1-imp"><a href="/essay/Causes-Of-Tyranny-Dbq-FC25PV5NJDT" class="hide-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Causes Of Tyranny Dbq</h2></a><ul><li>647 Words</li><li>3 Pages</li></ul></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-8 position-relative"><div class="card-grade-essay-preview-col show-for-large"><a href="/essay/Causes-Of-Tyranny-Dbq-FC25PV5NJDT" class="show-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Causes Of Tyranny Dbq</h2></a></div><p class="text-m break-word word-break text-ellipsis-after text-ellipsis-after">According to James Madison, tyranny is “the accumulation of all powers in the same hands.” A decade after the first constitution, the Articles of Confederation, was written, the founding fathers decided that it was too weak to run a government. Which is proof that Federalism helps protect America against tyranny since, instead of having one government with all the power, it is split between the two, and thus preventing the rising of a tyrant.</p></div><div class="columns large-1-5 position-relative show-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col"><ul><li>463 Words</li><li>2 Pages</li></ul></div><div class="columns large-2 show-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-satisfactory-essays"><div><span>Satisfactory Essays</span></div></div><div class="small-12 medium-12 large-1-5 position-relative card-grade-essay-button-col"><a class="button text-m " href="/essay/Tyranny-Dbq-6B9325972A4C271C">Read More</a></div></div></li><li id="related-essay12"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-12 card box-shadow card-grade-essay paper no-padding"><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 hide-for-large position-relative card-grade-essay-grade-col grade-decent-essays"><div><span>Decent Essays</span></div></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 position-relative hide-for-large card-grade-essay-words-col padding-left-1-imp"><a href="/essay/Tyranny-Dividing-Powers-Between-Central-And-State-989281CC79A6E1BA" class="hide-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Tyranny: Dividing Powers Between Central And State Governments</h2></a><ul><li>586 Words</li><li>3 Pages</li></ul></div><div class="columns small-12 medium-12 large-8 position-relative"><div class="card-grade-essay-preview-col show-for-large"><a href="/essay/Tyranny-Dividing-Powers-Between-Central-And-State-989281CC79A6E1BA" class="show-for-large"><h2 class="heading-s weight-700 brand-secondary">Tyranny: Dividing Powers Between Central And State Governments</h2></a></div><p class="text-m break-word word-break text-ellipsis-after text-ellipsis-after">Secondly, the Constitution guards the United States from tyranny by dividing the branches of government. In 1787, our new country held a Constitutional Convention. Delegates from most of the states came together to fix the Articles of Confederation, our first constitution. In the end, they decided to make a whole new constitution, a written government plan, that could hold our states together and protect us from tyranny. As we had just recently freed ourselves from a situation of tyranny by one with King George III, it wasn't a scenario that we wanted to repeat itself. The job was to frame, or structure, a brand new plan that could do this. The Constitution still continues to protect us because it was a strong document with a strong plan. The main challenge was to generate a Constitution that would be strong enough to retain possession of power for each state to a minimum so not a single person was the only one to have power or control.
