Although this discipline is developing for many years, there is still necessity of creating new opportunities to meet the ever-increasing users’ needs. Because one of these needs is related to the conversion of business process models from one standard to another, the authors have developed a converter between BPMN and EPC standards using workflow patterns as intermediate tool. Nowadays there are too many systems for business process modeling. The variety of output formats is almost the same as the systems themselves. This diversity additionally hampers the conversion of the models. The presented study is aimed at discussing problems due to differences in the output formats of various modeling environments. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20modeling" title="business process modeling">business process modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20modeling%20standards" title=" business process modeling standards"> business process modeling standards</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=workflow%20patterns" title=" workflow patterns"> workflow patterns</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=converting%20models" title=" converting models"> converting models</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40931/bridging-the-gap-between-different-interfaces-for-business-process-modeling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40931.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">586</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18226</span> Process Modeling of Electric Discharge Machining of Inconel 825 Using Artificial Neural Network</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Himanshu%20Payal">Himanshu Payal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sachin%20Maheshwari"> Sachin Maheshwari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pushpendra%20S.%20Bharti"> Pushpendra S. Process modeling of EDM is required to exploit the process to the fullest. Process modeling of EDM is a challenging task owing to involvement of so many electrical and non-electrical parameters. This work is an attempt to model the EDM process using artificial neural network (ANN). Experiments were carried out on die-sinking EDM taking Inconel 825 as work material. ANN modeling has been performed using experimental data. The prediction ability of trained network has been verified experimentally. Results indicate that ANN can predict the values of performance measures of EDM satisfactorily. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=artificial%20neural%20network" title="artificial neural network">artificial neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EDM" title=" EDM"> EDM</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metal%20removal%20rate" title=" metal removal rate"> metal removal rate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling" title=" modeling"> modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=surface%20roughness" title=" surface roughness"> surface roughness</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69399/process-modeling-of-electric-discharge-machining-of-inconel-825-using-artificial-neural-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69399.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">412</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18225</span> Seismic Performance Evaluation of Existing Building Using Structural Information Modeling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Byungmin%20Cho">Byungmin Cho</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dongchul%20Lee"> Dongchul Lee</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taejin%20Kim"> Taejin Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minhee%20Lee"> Minhee Lee</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The procedure for the seismic retrofit of existing buildings includes the seismic evaluation. In the evaluation step, it is assessed whether the buildings have satisfactory performance against seismic load. Based on the results of that, the buildings are upgraded. To evaluate seismic performance of the buildings, it usually goes through the model transformation from elastic analysis to inelastic analysis. However, when the data is not delivered through the interwork, engineers should manually input the data. In this process, since it leads to inaccuracy and loss of information, the results of the analysis become less accurate. Therefore, in this study, the process for the seismic evaluation of existing buildings using structural information modeling is suggested. This structural information modeling makes the work economic and accurate. To this end, it is determined which part of the process could be computerized through the investigation of the process for the seismic evaluation based on ASCE 41. The structural information modeling process is developed to apply to the seismic evaluation using Perform 3D program usually used for the nonlinear response history analysis. To validate this process, the seismic performance of an existing building is investigated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=existing%20building" title="existing building">existing building</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20analysis" title=" nonlinear analysis"> nonlinear analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=seismic%20performance" title=" seismic performance"> seismic performance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20information%20modeling" title=" structural information modeling"> structural information modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31008/seismic-performance-evaluation-of-existing-building-using-structural-information-modeling" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/31008.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">384</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18224</span> Object-Oriented Modeling Simulation and Control of Activated Sludge Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=J.%20Fernandez%20de%20Canete">J. This paper focuses on the fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) process. As the FCC process is difficult to model well, due to its non linearities and various interactions between its process variables, rigorous process modeling of whole FCC plant is demanded for control and plant-wide optimization of the plant. In this study, a process design for the FCC plant includes riser reactor, main fractionator, and gas processing unit was developed. A reactor model was described based on four-lumped kinetic scheme. Main fractionator, gas processing unit and other process units are designed to simulate real plant data, using a process flow sheet simulator, Aspen PLUS. The custom reactor model was integrated with the process flow sheet simulator to develop an integrated process model. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fluid%20catalytic%20cracking" title="fluid catalytic cracking">fluid catalytic cracking</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title=" simulation"> simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plant%20data" title=" plant data"> plant data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20design" title=" process design"> process design</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29415/modeling-and-simulation-of-fluid-catalytic-cracking-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29415.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">529</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18220</span> Process Modeling and Problem Solving: Connecting Two Worlds by BPMN</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gionata%20Carmignani">Gionata Carmignani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mario%20G.%20C.%20A.%20Cimino"> Mario G. In last year’s, the BP Model and Notation (BPMN) has become a de-facto standard for modeling processes. However, this standard does not incorporate explicitly the Problem-Solving (PS) knowledge in the Process Modeling (PM) results. Thus, such knowledge cannot be shared or reused. To narrow this gap is today a challenging research area. In this paper we present a framework able to capture the PS knowledge and to improve a workflow. This framework extends the BPMN specification by incorporating new general-purpose elements. A pilot scenario is also presented and discussed. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20management" title="business process management">business process management</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BPMN" title=" BPMN"> BPMN</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=problem%20solving" title=" problem solving"> problem solving</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=process%20mapping" title=" process mapping"> process mapping</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12641/process-modeling-and-problem-solving-connecting-two-worlds-by-bpmn" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12641.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">413</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18219</span> Design of Visual Repository, Constraint and Process Modeling Tool Based on Eclipse Plug-Ins</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rushiraj%20Heshi">Rushiraj Heshi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Smriti%20Bhandari"> Smriti Bhandari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Master Data Management requires creation of Central repository, applying constraints on Repository and designing processes to manage data. Therefore, this study aims to develop modeling curriculum on electric circuits to investigate any learning difficulties students have with modeling curriculum and further enhance modeling teaching. This study was conducted with 44 10th-grade students in Central Taiwan. Data collection included a students’ understanding of models in science (SUMS) survey that explored the students' epistemology of scientific models and modeling and a complex circuit problem to investigate the students’ modeling abilities. Data analysis included the following: (1) Paired sample t-tests were used to examine the improvement of students’ modeling abilities and conceptual understanding before and after the curriculum was taught. (2) Paired sample t-tests were also utilized to determine the students’ modeling abilities before and after the modeling activities, and a Pearson correlation was used to understand the relationship between students’ modeling abilities during the activities and on the posttest. (3) ANOVA analysis was used during different stages of the modeling curriculum to investigate the differences between the students’ who developed microscopic models and macroscopic models after the modeling curriculum was taught. (4) Independent sample t-tests were employed to determine whether the students who changed their models had significantly different understandings of scientific models than the students who did not change their models. The results revealed the following: (1) After the modeling curriculum was taught, the students had made significant progress in both their understanding of the science concept and their modeling abilities. In terms of science concepts, this modeling curriculum helped the students overcome the misconception that electric currents reduce after flowing through light bulbs. In terms of modeling abilities, this modeling curriculum helped students employ macroscopic or microscopic models to explain their observed phenomena. (2) Encouraging the students to explain scientific phenomena in different context prompts during the modeling process allowed them to convert their models to microscopic models, but it did not help them continuously employ microscopic models throughout the whole curriculum. The students finally consistently employed microscopic models when they had help visualizing the microscopic models. (3) During the modeling process, the students who revised their own models better understood that models can be changed than the students who did not revise their own models. Also, the students who revised their models to explain different scientific phenomena tended to regard models as explanatory tools. In short, this study explored different strategies to facilitate students’ modeling processes as well as their difficulties with the modeling process. The findings can be used to design and teach modeling curricula and help students enhance their modeling abilities. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=electric%20circuits" title="electric circuits">electric circuits</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling%20curriculum" title=" modeling curriculum"> modeling curriculum</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=science%20learning" title=" science learning"> science learning</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=scientific%20model" title=" scientific model"> scientific model</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76563/modeling-curriculum-for-high-school-students-to-learn-about-electric-circuits" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/76563.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">460</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18217</span> A Generic Approach to Reuse Unified Modeling Language Components Following an Agile Process</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Rim%20Bouhaouel">Rim Bouhaouel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Naoufel%20Kra%C3%AFem"> Naoufel Kraïem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zuhoor%20Al%20Khanjari"> Zuhoor Al Khanjari</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Unified Modeling Language (UML) is considered as one of the widespread modeling language standardized by the Object Management Group (OMG). Therefore, the model driving engineering (MDE) community attempts to provide reuse of UML diagrams, and do not construct it from scratch. The UML model appears according to a specific software development process. The existing method generation models focused on the different techniques of transformation without considering the development process. Our work aims to construct an UML component from fragments of UML diagram basing on an agile method. We define UML fragment as a portion of a UML diagram, which express a business target. To guide the generation of fragments of UML models using an agile process, we need a flexible approach, which adapts to the agile changes and covers all its activities. We use the software product line (SPL) to derive a fragment of process agile method. This paper explains our approach, named RECUP, to generate UML fragments following an agile process, and overviews the different aspects. In this paper, we present the approach and we define the different phases and artifacts. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UML" title="UML">UML</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=component" title=" component"> component</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fragment" title=" fragment"> fragment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=agile" title=" agile"> agile</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=SPL" title=" SPL"> SPL</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35278/a-generic-approach-to-reuse-unified-modeling-language-components-following-an-agile-process" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/35278.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">397</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18216</span> A Comparative Study of the Modeling and Quality Control of the Propylene-Propane Classical Distillation and Distillation Column with Heat Pump</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C.%20Patrascioiu">C. The process exhibits complex dynamic behavior due to the presence of heat recycling and feed quench. One limitation of static PLS model in this situation is that it does not take account of the process dynamics and hence dynamic PLS was used. Although it showed, superior performance to static PLS in terms of prediction, the monitoring scheme was inappropriate hence adaptive PLS was considered. A limitation of adaptive PLS is that non-conforming observations also contribute to the model, therefore, a new adaptive approach was developed, robust adaptive dynamic PLS. This approach updates a dynamic PLS model and is robust to non-representative data. The developed methodology showed a clear improvement over existing approaches in terms of the modeling of the reactor and the detection of faults. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ammonia%20synthesis%20fixed-bed%20reactor" title="ammonia synthesis fixed-bed reactor">ammonia synthesis fixed-bed reactor</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20partial%20least%20squares%20modeling" title=" dynamic partial least squares modeling"> dynamic partial least squares modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=recursive%20partial%20least%20squares" title=" recursive partial least squares"> recursive partial least squares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=robust%20modeling" title=" robust modeling"> robust modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37994/dynamic-process-monitoring-of-an-ammonia-synthesis-fixed-bed-reactor" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/37994.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18214</span> Membrane Distillation Process Modeling: Dynamical Approach</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fadi%20Eleiwi">Fadi Eleiwi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Taous%20Meriem%20Laleg-Kirati"> Taous Meriem Laleg-Kirati</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a complete dynamic modeling of a membrane distillation process. The model contains two consistent dynamic models. A 2D advection-diffusion equation for modeling the whole process and a modified heat equation for modeling the membrane itself. The complete model describes the temperature diffusion phenomenon across the feed, membrane, permeate containers and boundary layers of the membrane. It gives an online and complete temperature profile for each point in the domain. It explains heat conduction and convection mechanisms that take place inside the process in terms of mathematical parameters, and justify process behavior during transient and steady state phases. The process is monitored for any sudden change in the performance at any instance of time. In addition, it assists maintaining production rates as desired, and gives recommendations during membrane fabrication stages. System performance and parameters can be optimized and controlled using this complete dynamic model. Evolution of membrane boundary temperature with time, vapor mass transfer along the process, and temperature difference between membrane boundary layers are depicted and included. Simulations were performed over the complete model with real membrane specifications. The plots show consistency between 2D advection-diffusion model and the expected behavior of the systems as well as literature. Evolution of heat inside the membrane starting from transient response till reaching steady state response for fixed and varying times is illustrated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=membrane%20distillation" title="membrane distillation">membrane distillation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamical%20modeling" title=" dynamical modeling"> dynamical modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=advection-diffusion%20equation" title=" advection-diffusion equation"> advection-diffusion equation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20equilibrium" title=" thermal equilibrium"> thermal equilibrium</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20equation" title=" heat equation"> heat equation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6363/membrane-distillation-process-modeling-dynamical-approach" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/6363.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">272</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18213</span> Using Gaussian Process in Wind Power Forecasting</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hacene%20Benkhoula">Hacene Benkhoula</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Badreddine%20Benabdella"> Mohamed Badreddine Benabdella</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hamid%20Bouzeboudja"> Hamid Bouzeboudja</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abderrahmane%20Asraoui"> Abderrahmane Asraoui</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The wind is a random variable difficult to master, for this, we developed a mathematical and statistical methods enable to modeling and forecast wind power. However, besides the bitcoin industry, we have not yet seen a large-scale application of blockchain in those domains that are supposed to be impacted, such as supply chain, financial network, and intelligent manufacturing. The reasons not only lie in the difficulties of blockchain implementation, but are also root in the challenges of blockchain-oriented information systems design. As the blockchain members are self-interest actors that belong to organizations with different existing information systems. As they expect different information inputs and outputs of the blockchain application, a common language protocol is needed to facilitate communications between blockchain members. Second, considering the decentralization of blockchain organization, there is not any central authority to organize and coordinate the business processes. Thus, the information systems built on blockchain should support more adaptive business process. This paper aims to address these difficulties by providing a modeling approach for blockchain-oriented information systems design. We will investigate the information structure of distributed-ledger data with conceptual modeling techniques and ontology theories, and build an effective ontology mapping method for the inter-organization information flow and blockchain information records. Further, we will study the distributed-ledger-ontology based business process modeling to support adaptive enterprise on blockchain. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blockchain" title="blockchain">blockchain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ontology" title=" ontology"> ontology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information%20systems%20modeling" title=" information systems modeling"> information systems modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process" title=" business process"> business process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69091/a-modeling-approach-for-blockchain-oriented-information-systems-design" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/69091.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">449</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18208</span> Proposing an Improved Managerial-Based Business Process Framework</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Alireza%20Nikravanshallmani">Alireza Nikravanshallmani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jamshid%20Dehmeshki"> Jamshid Dehmeshki</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mojtaba%20Ahmadi"> Mojtaba Ahmadi</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Modeling of business processes, based on BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), helps analysts and managers to understand business processes, and, identify their shortages. These models provide a context to make rational decision of organizing business processes activities in an understandable manner. The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework for better understanding of business processes and their problems by reducing the cognitive load of displayed information for their audience at different managerial levels while keeping the essential information which are needed by them. For this reason, we integrate business process diagrams across the different managerial levels to develop a framework to improve the performance of business process management (BPM) projects. The proposed framework is entitled ‘Business process improvement framework based on managerial levels (BPIML)’. This framework, determine a certain type of business process diagrams (BPD) based on BPMN with respect to the objectives and tasks of the various managerial levels of organizations and their roles in BPM projects. This framework will make us able to provide the necessary support for making decisions about business processes. The framework is evaluated with a case study in a real business process improvement project, to demonstrate its superiority over the conventional method. A questionnaire consisted of 10 questions using Likert scale was designed and given to the participants (managers of Bank Refah Kargaran three managerial levels). By examining the results of the questionnaire, it can be said that the proposed framework provide support for correct and timely decisions by increasing the clarity and transparency of the business processes which led to success in BPM projects. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20management%20%28BPM%29" title="business process management (BPM)">business process management (BPM)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20modeling" title=" business process modeling"> business process modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20reengineering%20%28BPR%29" title=" business process reengineering (BPR)"> business process reengineering (BPR)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=business%20process%20optimizing" title=" business process optimizing"> business process optimizing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=BPMN" title=" BPMN"> BPMN</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34193/proposing-an-improved-managerial-based-business-process-framework" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/34193.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">452</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18207</span> A Survey on Intelligent Techniques Based Modelling of Size Enlargement Process for Fine Materials</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohammad%20Nadeem">Mohammad Nadeem</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Haider%20Banka"> Haider Banka</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=R.%20Venugopal"> R. The present study tries to review the applications of intelligent techniques in the modeling of size enlargement process for fine materials. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fine%20material" title="fine material">fine material</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=granulation" title=" granulation"> granulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intelligent%20technique" title=" intelligent technique"> intelligent technique</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modelling" title=" modelling"> modelling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87236/a-survey-on-intelligent-techniques-based-modelling-of-size-enlargement-process-for-fine-materials" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/87236.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">374</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18206</span> A Rapid and Cost-Effective Approach to Manufacturing Modeling Platform for Fused Deposition Modeling</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chil-Chyuan%20Kuo">Chil-Chyuan Kuo</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Chen-Hsuan%20Tsai"> Chen-Hsuan Tsai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This study presents a cost-effective approach for rapid fabricating modeling platforms utilized in fused deposition modeling system. Separation treatment methods are often known for their effectiveness in removing contaminants whereas membrane separation techniques are a promising process for the treatment of textile effluent due to their versatility, efficiency, and low energy requirements. This study focuses on the modeling and simulation of membrane separation technologies with a cross-flow filtration process for textile effluent treatment. It aims to explore the application of mathematical models and computational simulations using ASPEN Plus Software in the prediction of a complex and real effluent separation. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of modeling and simulation techniques in predicting pollutant removal efficiencies with a global deviation percentage of 1.83% between experimental and simulated results; membrane fouling behavior, and overall process performance (hydraulic resistance, membrane porosity) were also estimated and indicating that the membrane losses 10% of its efficiency after 40 min of working. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=membrane%20separation" title="membrane separation">membrane separation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrafiltration" title=" ultrafiltration"> ultrafiltration</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=textile%20effluent" title=" textile effluent"> textile effluent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling" title=" modeling"> modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=simulation" title=" simulation"> simulation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184659/modeling-and-simulation-of-textile-effluent-treatment-using-ultrafiltration-membrane-technology" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/184659.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">57</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18203</span> Modeling and Analysis of Laser Sintering Process Scanning Time for Optimal Planning and Control</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Agarana%20Michael%20C.">Agarana Michael C.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akinlabi%20Esther%20T."> Akinlabi Esther T.</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Pule%20Kholopane"> Pule Kholopane</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In order to sustain the advantages of an advanced manufacturing technique, such as laser sintering, minimization of total processing cost of the parts being produced is very important. It is presented as a complex process that faces several barriers thereby inhibiting a project’s implementation phase. In fact, after a careful review of the literature, we noticed that empirical researches on reasons behind non-developing entrepreneurial projects are very rare, suggesting a lack in modeling the process in general and the pre-start phase in particular. Therefore, in this study we try to identify the main environmental barriers to developing business projects in Tunisia through the study of a representative sample of undeveloped projects. To this end, we used a quantitative approach which allowed us to examine the various barriers encountered by young entrepreneurs during their projects’ implementation. Indeed, by modeling the phenomenon we found that these managers face barriers of legal, financial, educational and government support dimensions. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=entrepreneurship" title="entrepreneurship">entrepreneurship</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=environmental%20barriers" title=" environmental barriers"> environmental barriers</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-implementation%20of%20projects" title=" non-implementation of projects"> non-implementation of projects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structural%20modeling" title=" structural modeling"> structural modeling</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40428/limits-and-barriers-of-value-creation-and-projects-development-the-case-of-tunisian-smes" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/40428.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">381</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18199</span> Impact of Process Parameters on Tensile Strength of Fused Deposition Modeling Printed Crisscross Poylactic Acid </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shilpesh%20R.%20Rajpurohit">Shilpesh R. Fused deposition modeling (FDM) is one of the widely used additive manufacturing techniques that are used to create functional end use part of polymer that is comparable with the injection-molded parts. FDM printed part has an application in various fields such as automobile, aerospace, medical, electronic, etc. However, application of FDM part is greatly affected by poor mechanical properties. Proper selection of the process parameter could enhance the mechanical performance of the printed part. In the present study, experimental investigation has been carried out to study the behavior of the mechanical performance of the printed part with respect to process variables. Three process variables viz. raster angle, raster width and layer height have been varied to understand its effect on tensile strength. Further, effect of process variables on fractured surface has been also investigated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=3D%20Printing" title="3D Printing">3D Printing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fused%20deposition%20modeling" title=" fused deposition modeling"> fused deposition modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=layer%20height" title=" layer height"> layer height</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=raster%20angle" title=" raster angle"> raster angle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=raster%20width" title=" raster width"> raster width</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=tensile%20strength" title=" tensile strength"> tensile strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86207/impact-of-process-parameters-on-tensile-strength-of-fused-deposition-modeling-printed-crisscross-poylactic-acid" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86207.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">197</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">18198</span> A Stochastic Diffusion Process Based on the Two-Parameters Weibull Density Function</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Meriem%20Bahij">Meriem Bahij</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Nafidi"> Ahmed Nafidi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Boujem%C3%A2a%20Achchab"> Boujemâa Achchab</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=S%C3%ADlvio%20M.%20A.%20Gama"> Sílvio M. Therefore, the purpose of stochastic modeling is to estimate the probability of outcomes within a forecast, i.e. to be able to predict what conditions or decisions might happen under different situations. In the present study, we present a model of a stochastic diffusion process based on the bi-Weibull distribution function (its trend is proportional to the bi-Weibull probability density function). In general, the Weibull distribution has the ability to assume the characteristics of many different types of distributions. This has made it very popular among engineers and quality practitioners, who have considered it the most commonly used distribution for studying problems such as modeling reliability data, accelerated life testing, and maintainability modeling and analysis. In this work, we start by obtaining the probabilistic characteristics of this model, as the explicit expression of the process, its trends, and its distribution by transforming the diffusion process in a Wiener process as shown in the Ricciaardi theorem. Then, we develop the statistical inference of this model using the maximum likelihood methodology. Finally, we analyse with simulated data the computational problems associated with the parameters, an issue of great importance in its application to real data with the use of the convergence analysis methods. Overall, the use of a stochastic model reflects only a pragmatic decision on the part of the modeler. According to the data that is available and the universe of models known to the modeler, this model represents the best currently available description of the phenomenon under consideration. <p
