style="text-align: left;">While much of this historiography has focused on liberal democracies, less attention has been given to how concepts of risk operated in state socialist contexts. Building on recent studies in the history of medicine and health, we invite scholars to join a working group examining risk, health, and medicine under state socialism in Central and Eastern Europe. To what extent did state socialist regimes recognize certain health and medical issues as ‘governable’ through risk? What kinds of practices and ideas emerged in response? And were there differences or similarities between state socialist and liberal democratic models of risk in healthcare and medicine? Au sens propre, ce terme désigne un être biologique né de deux individus appartenant à des espèces distinctes. Par métaphore, il s’applique aujourd’hui à de multiples domaines culturels et sociaux. Dans ce volume, nous nous proposons d’interroger la signification première de ce concept, en explorant ses usages en biologie et ses retombées en paléontologie humaine et en préhistoire. On interrogera également ses utilisations en anthropologie. Enfin, nous pourrons relier ces interrogations aux tendances modernes à la valorisation esthétique de l’hybridité, dans le champ artistique, en particulier muséal. Scholars focused also on the determinants of these dynamics and some of these suggests a direct connection between the growth of economic inequality and the functioning of the public finances (i.e. Alfani and Di Tulio in their book on the Republic of Venice). Basically, the argument is that regressive taxation would have fostered this phenomenon, but we still have little knowledge about the mechanisms beyond this process. Why did this happen? En effet, le droit de la neutralité a commencé à émerger au début de l'époque moderne à travers les pratiques et les croyances du système étatique européen, mais aussi à partir de ses interactions avec des systèmes normatifs et culturels non européens. Des angles d'approche différents mais complémentaires peuvent être utilisés pour comprendre ce phénomène : par exemple, l'histoire diplomatique, l'histoire des relations internationales, l'histoire politique, l'histoire économique et l'histoire du droit. L’objet d’étude de ce colloque international est la Méditerranée, non seulement la mer mais le monde méditerranéen dans son ensemble. Les études méditerranéennes sont intrinsèquement liées à l’« environnement » depuis les travaux pionniers de Fernand Braudel. Aujourd’hui, l’histoire environnementale n’interroge plus seulement le milieu braudélien mais l’ensemble des interactions des acteurs humains et non-humains avec l’environnement.
