University of Winchester is a values-driven institution which offers excellent programmes of study sustained by teaching and research of the highest quality. </p> <p> </p> <p>Founded in 1840, the university offers undergraduate and postgraduate study in a range of subjects within the arts, humanities, social sciences, business, law, sport, education, and health and social care. It aims to provide students with a university experience intended to help them reach their full potential and make a difference in the world. </p> <p> </p> <p>The university鈥檚 commitment to improving outcomes for underrepresented groups was recognised when it won the 2016 Times Higher Education award for outreach initiative of the year for its work with young carers. The University of Winchester is the institutional lead for the SCiP Alliance and supports research into the gap between attainment and progression for children from military families, for example through a funded 3 year studentship. The university also supports the armed forces community under the Armed Forces Covenant, supporting the employment of veterans, partners and reservists, launching a new Heritage for Heroes programme to support rehabilitation and including current and former service personnel and their dependants in the Post Graduate Access Scholarship scheme.
