This study was designed to go further step and evaluate the hypoglycemic and hypolipidaemic effects of the aqueous ginger root extract in normal and alloxan diabetic rabbits. Results revealed that the aqueous ginger has a significant hypoglycemic effect (P<0.05) in diabetic rabbits but a non-significant hypoglycemic effect (P>0.05) in normal rabbits. There were also significant decreases in the concentrations (P<0.05) in serum cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL – cholesterol in both normal and diabetic rabbits. Although there was an elevation in serum HDL- cholesterol in both normal and diabetic rabbits, these elevations were non-significant (P>0.05). Our data suggest the aqueous ginger has a hypoglycemic effect in diabetic rabbits and lipid-lowering properties in both normal and diabetic rabbits. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aqueous%20extract%20of%20ginger%20root%20%28AEGR%29" title="aqueous extract of ginger root (AEGR)">aqueous extract of ginger root (AEGR)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hypoglycemic" title=" hypoglycemic"> hypoglycemic</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cholesterol" title=" cholesterol"> cholesterol</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=triglyceride" title=" triglyceride"> triglyceride</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142726/effect-of-ginger-zingiber-officinal-root-extract-on-blood-glucose-level-and-lipid-profile-in-normal-and-alloxan-diabetic-rabbits" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/142726.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">293</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2957</span> Antidiabetic and Antihyperlipaemic Effects of Aqueous Neem (Azadirachta Indica) Extract on Alloxan Diabetic Rabbits</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Khalil%20Abdullah%20Ahmed%20Khalil">Khalil Abdullah Ahmed Khalil</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elsadig%20Mohamed%20Ahmed"> Elsadig Mohamed Ahmed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Extracts of various plants material capable of decreasing blood sugar have been tested in experimental animal models and their effects confirmed. The development of disease has been associated with SNPs in the DBT gene. Despite that, the computational analysis of SNPs in coding and noncoding and their functional impacts on protein level still remains unknown. Hence, in this study, we carried out a comprehensive in silico analysis of missense that was predicted to have a harmful influence on DBT structure and function. In this study, eight different in silico prediction algorithms; SIFT, PROVEAN, MutPred, SNP&GO, PhD-SNP, PANTHER, I-Mutant 2.0 and MUpo were used for screening nsSNPs in DBT including. Additionally, to understand the effect of mutations in the strength of the interactions that bind protein together the ELASPIC servers were used. Finally, the 3D structure of DBT was formed using Mutation3D and Chimera servers respectively. Our result showed that a total of 15 nsSNPs confirmed by 4 software (R301C, R376H, W84R, S268F, W84C, F276C, H452R, R178H, I355T, V191G, M444T, T174A, I200T, R113H, and R178C) were found damaging and can lead to a shift in DBT gene structure. Moreover, we found 7 nsSNPs located on the 2-oxoacid_dh catalytic domain, 5 nsSNPs on the E_3 binding domain and 3 nsSNPs on the Biotin Domain. So these nsSNPs may alter the putative structure of DBT’s domain. Furthermore, we detected all these nsSNPs are on the core residues of the protein and have the ability to change the stability of the protein. Additionally, we found W84R, S268F, and M444T have high significance, and they affected Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine, which reduces or disrupt the function of BCKD complex, E2-subunit which the DBT gene encodes. In conclusion, based on our extensive in-silico analysis, we report 15 nsSNPs that have possible association with protein deteriorating and disease-causing abilities. These candidate SNPs can aid in future studies on Maple Syrup Urine Disease type II base in the genetic level. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DBT%20gene" title="DBT gene">DBT gene</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ELASPIC" title=" ELASPIC"> ELASPIC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=in%20silico%20analysis" title=" in silico analysis"> in silico analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UCSF%20chimer" title=" UCSF chimer"> UCSF chimer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83720/in-silico-analysis-of-deleterious-nssnps-missense-of-dihydrolipoamide-branched-chain-transacylase-e2-gene-associated-with-maple-syrup-urine-disease-type-ii" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/83720.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">201</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2955</span> Comparison between Hardy-Cross Method and Water Software to Solve a Pipe Networking Design Problem for a Small Town</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Emad%20Ahmed">Ahmed Emad Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zeyad%20Ahmed%20Hussein"> Zeyad Ahmed Hussein</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Salama%20Afifi"> Mohamed Salama Afifi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Mohammed%20Eid"> Ahmed Mohammed Eid</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Water has a great importance in life. In order to deliver water from resources to the users, many procedures should be taken by the water engineers. One of the main procedures to deliver water to the community is by designing pressurizer pipe networks for water. The main aim of this work is to calculate the water demand of a small town and then design a simple water network to distribute water resources among the town with the smallest losses. Literature has been mentioned to cover the main point related to water distribution. Moreover, the methodology has introduced two approaches to solve the research problem, one by the iterative method of Hardy-cross and the other by water software Pipe Flow. The results have introduced two main designs to satisfy the same research requirements. Finally, the researchers have concluded that the use of water software provides more abilities and options for water engineers. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=looping%20pipe%20networks" title="looping pipe networks">looping pipe networks</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hardy%20cross%20networks%20accuracy" title=" hardy cross networks accuracy"> hardy cross networks accuracy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=relative%20error%20of%20hardy%20cross%20method" title=" relative error of hardy cross method"> relative error of hardy cross method</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156922/comparison-between-hardy-cross-method-and-water-software-to-solve-a-pipe-networking-design-problem-for-a-small-town" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156922.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">165</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2954</span> Isolation and Molecular Identification of Two Fungal Strains Capable of Degrading hydrocarbon Contaminants on Saudi Arabian Environment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amr%20A.%20EL%20Hanafy">Amr A. Technology advancements have enabled the development of it to do many excellent jobs as reconnaissance, surveillance, battle fighters, and communications relays. Simulating a small unmanned aerial vehicle (SUAV) dynamics and analyzing its behavior at the preflight stage is too important and more efficient. The first step in the UAV design is the mathematical modeling of the nonlinear equations of motion. In this paper, a survey with a standard method to obtain the full non-linear equations of motion is utilized, and then the linearization of the equations according to a steady state flight condition (trimming) is derived. This modeling technique is applied to an Ultrastick-25e fixed wing UAV to obtain the valued linear longitudinal and lateral models. At the end, the model is checked by matching between the behavior of the states of the non-linear UAV and the resulted linear model with doublet at the control surfaces. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=UAV" title="UAV">UAV</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=equations%20of%20motion" title=" equations of motion"> equations of motion</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=modeling" title=" modeling"> modeling</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=linearization" title=" linearization"> linearization</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23317/modeling-of-a-small-unmanned-aerial-vehicle" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/23317.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">743</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2952</span> Chemical Modification of PVC and Its Surface Analysis by Means of XPS and Contact Angle Measurements</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Akrmi">Ali Akrmi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Beji"> Mohamed Beji</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Baklouti"> Ahmed Baklouti</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fatma%20Djouani"> Fatma Djouani</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Philippe%20Lang"> Philippe Lang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20M.%20Chehimi"> Mohamed M. The targeted applications are improvement of chemical resistance, avoiding or limitation of migration of toxic plasticizers, improvement of antibacterial properties, or control of blood compatibility. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=poly%28vinyl%20chloride%29" title="poly(vinyl chloride)">poly(vinyl chloride)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nucleophilic%20substitution" title=" nucleophilic substitution"> nucleophilic substitution</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sulfonylcarbamates" title=" sulfonylcarbamates"> sulfonylcarbamates</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=XPS" title=" XPS"> XPS</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13663/chemical-modification-of-pvc-and-its-surface-analysis-by-means-of-xps-and-contact-angle-measurements" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/13663.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">705</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2951</span> Digital Design and Fabrication: A Review of Trend and Its Impact in the African Context</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Al%20Araby">Mohamed Al Araby</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Amany%20Salman"> Amany Salman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mostafa%20Amin"> Mostafa Amin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Madbully"> Mohamed Madbully</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dalia%20Keraa"> Dalia Keraa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariam%20Ali"> Mariam Ali</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Marah%20Abdelfatah"> Marah Abdelfatah</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mariam%20Ahmed"> Mariam Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Hassab"> Ahmed Hassab</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In recent years, the architecture, engineering, and construction (A.E.C.) industry have been exposed to important innovations, most notably the global integration of digital design and fabrication (D.D.F.) processes in the industry’s workflow. Despite this evolution in that sector, Africa was excluded from the examination of this development. The reason behind this exclusion is the preconceived view of it as a developing region that still employs traditional methods of construction. The primary objective of this review is to investigate the trend of digital construction (D.C.) in the African environment and the difficulties in its regular utilization of it. This objective can be attained by recognizing the notion of distributed computing in Africa and evaluating the impact of the projects deploying this technology on both the immediate and broader contexts. The paper’s methodology begins with the collection of data from 224 initiatives throughout Africa. Then, 50 of these projects were selected based on the criteria of the project's recency, typology variety, and location diversity. After that, a literature-based comparative analysis was undertaken. This study’s findings reveal a pattern of motivation for applying digital fabrication processes. Moreover, it is essential to evaluate the socio-economic effects of these projects on the population living near the analyzed subject. The last step in this study is identifying the influence on the neighboring nations. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Africa" title="Africa">Africa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20construction" title=" digital construction"> digital construction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=digital%20design" title=" digital design"> digital design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=fabrication" title=" fabrication"> fabrication</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159434/digital-design-and-fabrication-a-review-of-trend-and-its-impact-in-the-african-context" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/159434.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">179</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2950</span> The Foundation Binary-Signals Mechanics and Actual-Information Model of Universe</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elsadig%20Naseraddeen%20Ahmed%20Mohamed">Elsadig Naseraddeen Ahmed Mohamed</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In contrast to the uncertainty and complementary principle, it will be shown in the present paper that the probability of the simultaneous occupation event of any definite values of coordinates by any definite values of momentum and energy at any definite instance of time can be described by a binary definite function equivalent to the difference between their numbers of occupation and evacuation epochs up to that time and also equivalent to the number of exchanges between those occupation and evacuation epochs up to that times modulus two, these binary definite quantities can be defined at all point in the time’s real-line so it form a binary signal represent a complete mechanical description of physical reality, the time of these exchanges represent the boundary of occupation and evacuation epochs from which we can calculate these binary signals using the fact that the time of universe events actually extends in the positive and negative of time’s real-line in one direction of extension when these number of exchanges increase, so there exists noninvertible transformation matrix can be defined as the matrix multiplication of invertible rotation matrix and noninvertible scaling matrix change the direction and magnitude of exchange event vector respectively, these noninvertible transformation will be called actual transformation in contrast to information transformations by which we can navigate the universe’s events transformed by actual transformations backward and forward in time’s real-line, so these information transformations will be derived as an elements of a group can be associated to their corresponded actual transformations. The actual and information model of the universe will be derived by assuming the existence of time instance zero before and at which there is no coordinate occupied by any definite values of momentum and energy, and then after that time, the universe begin its expanding in spacetime, this assumption makes the need for the existence of Laplace’s demon who at one moment can measure the positions and momentums of all constituent particle of the universe and then use the law of classical mechanics to predict all future and past of universe’s events, superfluous, we only need for the establishment of our analog to digital converters to sense the binary signals that determine the boundaries of occupation and evacuation epochs of the definite values of coordinates relative to its origin by the definite values of momentum and energy as present events of the universe from them we can predict approximately in high precision it's past and future events. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=binary-signal%20mechanics" title="binary-signal mechanics">binary-signal mechanics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=actual-information%20model%20of%20the%20universe" title=" actual-information model of the universe"> actual-information model of the universe</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=actual-transformation" title=" actual-transformation"> actual-transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=information-transformation" title=" information-transformation"> information-transformation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=uncertainty%20principle" title=" uncertainty principle"> uncertainty principle</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Laplace%27s%20demon" title=" Laplace's demon"> Laplace's demon</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145704/the-foundation-binary-signals-mechanics-and-actual-information-model-of-universe" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145704.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">175</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2949</span> Characterization of Coronary Artery Obstruction and Related Findings in Ischemic Heart Patients Using Cardiac Scintigraphy</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yousif%20Mohamed%20Y.%20Abdallah">Yousif Mohamed Y. Methods: We conducted a PRISMA-compliant systematic review and meta-analysis. We ran an electronic search of PubMed, Cochrane CENTRAL, Scopus, and Web of Science to identify the relevant published studies. Data were extracted and pooled as standardized mean difference (SMD) or risk ratio (RR) using StataMP version 17 for macOS. Results: Forty-one studies with a total of 15,065 patients were included in this meta-analysis (minimally invasive approaches n=7231 vs. conventional sternotomy n=7834). The pooled effect size showed that minimally invasive approaches had lower mortality rate (RR 0.76, 95%CI [0.59 to 0.99]), intensive care unit and hospital stays (SMD -0.16 and -0.31, respectively), ventilation time (SMD -0.26, 95%CI [-0.38 to -0.15]), 24-h chest tube drainage (SMD -1.03, 95%CI [-1.53 to -0.53]), RBCs transfusion (RR 0.81, 95%CI [0.70 to 0.93]), wound infection (RR 0.66, 95%CI [0.47 to 0.92]) and acute renal failure (RR 0.65, 95%CI [0.46 to 0.93]). However, minimally invasive approaches had longer operative time, cross-clamp, and bypass times (SMD 0.47, 95%CI [0.22 to 0.72], SMD 0.27, 95%CI [0.07 to 0.48], and SMD 0.37, 95%CI [0.20 to 0.45], respectively). There were no differences between the two groups in blood loss, endocarditis, cardiac tamponade, stroke, arrhythmias, pneumonia, pneumothorax, bleeding reoperation, tracheostomy, hemodialysis, or myocardial infarction (all P>0.05). Conclusion: Current evidence showed higher safety and better operative outcomes with minimally invasive aortic valve replacement compared to the conventional approach. Future RCTs with long-term follow-ups are recommended. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aortic%20replacement" title="aortic replacement">aortic replacement</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minimally%20invasive" title=" minimally invasive"> minimally invasive</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sternotomy" title=" sternotomy"> sternotomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mini-sternotomy" title=" mini-sternotomy"> mini-sternotomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=aortic%20valve" title=" aortic valve"> aortic valve</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=meta%20analysis" title=" meta analysis"> meta analysis</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157928/minimally-invasive-versus-conventional-sternotomy-for-aortic-valve-replacement-a-systematic-review-and-meta-analysis" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/157928.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">121</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2946</span> Degradation of the Mechanical Properties of the Polypropylene Talc Nanocomposite in Chemical Environment</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Ouadah%20Bouakkaz">Ahmed Ouadah Bouakkaz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Elmeguenni"> Mohamed Elmeguenni</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bel%20Abbes%20Bachir%20Bouiadjra"> Bel Abbes Bachir Bouiadjra</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Belhouari"> Mohamed Belhouari</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdulmohsen%20Albedah"> Abdulmohsen Albedah</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this study, the effect of the chemical environment on the mechanical properties of the polypropylene-talc composite was analyzed. In the present study, the molecular hybridization tool was adopted to obtain six Schiff bases of isatin and adamantane-1-carbohydrazide (18–23). Then, their anticonvulsant activity was evaluated using a pentylenetetrazole- (PTZ-) induced seizure model using phenobarbitone as a positive control. Our findings showed that compounds 18–23 provided significant protection against PTZ-induced seizure, and maximum activities were associated with compound 23. Moreover, all investigated compounds increased the latency of induced convulsion and reduced the duration of epilepsy, with compound 23 being the best. Interestingly, most of the synthesized molecules showed a reduction in neurological symptoms and severity of the seizure. Molecular docking studies suggest GABA-A receptor as a potential target, and in silico ADME screening revealed that the pharmaceutical properties of compound 23 are within the specified limit. Thus, compound 23 was identified as a promising candidate that warrants further drug discovery processes. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=isatin%20and%20adamantane" title="isatin and adamantane">isatin and adamantane</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=anticonvulsant%20activity" title=" anticonvulsant activity"> anticonvulsant activity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PTZ-induced%20seizure" title=" PTZ-induced seizure"> PTZ-induced seizure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=molecular%20docking" title=" molecular docking"> molecular docking</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145055/schiff-bases-of-isatin-and-admantane-1-carbohydrazide-synthesis-characterization-and-anticonvulsant-activity" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/145055.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">207</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2944</span> The Role of Building Services in Energy Conservation into Residential Buildings</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Osama%20Ahmed%20Ibrahim%20Masoud">Osama Ahmed Ibrahim Masoud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Ibrahim%20Mohamed%20Abdelhadi"> Mohamed Ibrahim Mohamed Abdelhadi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Mohamed%20Seddik%20Hassan"> Ahmed Mohamed Seddik Hassan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The problem of study focuses on thermal comfort realization in a residential building during hot and dry climate periods consumes a major electrical energy for air conditioning operation. Thermal comfort realization in a residential building during such climate becomes more difficult regarding the phenomena of climate change, and the use of building and construction materials which have the feature of heat conduction as (bricks-reinforced concrete) and the global energy crises. For that, this study aims to how to realize internal thermal comfort through how to make the best use of building services (temporarily used service spaces) for reducing the electrical energy transfer and saving self-shading. In addition, the possibility of reduction traditional energy (fossil fuel) consumed in cooling through the use of building services for reducing the internal thermal comfort and the relationship between them. This study is based on measuring the consumed electrical energy rate in cooling (by using Design-Builder program) for a residential building (the place of study is: Egypt- Suez Canal- Suez City), this design model has lots of alternatives designs for the place of building services (center of building- the eastern front- southeastern front- the southern front- the south-west front, the western front). The building services are placed on the fronts with different rates for determining the best rate on fronts which realizes thermal comfort with the lowest of energy consumption used in cooling. Findings of the study indicate to that the best position for building services is on the west front then the south-west front, and the more the building services increase, the more energy consumption used in cooling of residential building decreases. Recommendations indicate to the need to study the building services positions in the new projects progress to select the best alternatives to realize ‘Energy conservation’ used in cooling or heating into the buildings in general, residential buildings particularly. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=residential%20buildings" title="residential buildings">residential buildings</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20conservation" title=" energy conservation"> energy conservation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20comfort" title=" thermal comfort"> thermal comfort</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=building%20services" title=" building services"> building services</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=temporary%20used%20service%20spaces" title=" temporary used service spaces"> temporary used service spaces</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=DesignBuilder" title=" DesignBuilder"> DesignBuilder</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88067/the-role-of-building-services-in-energy-conservation-into-residential-buildings" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/88067.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">294</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2943</span> Effect of Papaverine on Neurospheres</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Noura%20Shehab-Eldeen">Noura Shehab-Eldeen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Elsherbeeny"> Mohamed Elsherbeeny</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hossam%20Elmetwally"> Hossam Elmetwally</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Salama"> Mohamed Salama</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Lotfy"> Ahmed Lotfy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Elgamal"> Mohamed Elgamal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hussein%20Sheashaa"> Hussein Sheashaa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Sobh"> Mohamed Sobh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mitochondrial toxins including papaverine may be implicated in the etiology and pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease. The aim was to detect the effect of papaverine on the proliferation and viability of neural stem cells. Rat neural progenitor cells were isolated from embryos (E14) brains. Across sectional study was undertaken between March 2009 and February 2010 to verify the prevalence of skin affection of donkeys. A total of 1134 donkeys in northern Egypt were investigated. A questionnaire was constructed to verify the number of infected contact animals as well as the associated factors. Physical examination was carried out, and the distribution of skin lesions was recorded. Skin scraping and biopsy were obtained to perform bacteriological, mycological, and histopathological examinations. Thirty-five (3.09%) out of 1134 noticed donkeys had skin affections including mange (18/35), dermatophytosis (6/35), bacterial dermatitis (6/35) urticaria (2/35) and allergic dermatitis (3/35). The present results indicate that mange and dermatophytosis are the prevalent skin diseases in donkeys. Contact with other animal species of contaminated environment may contribute to the occurrence of the diseases. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=donkeys" title="donkeys">donkeys</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Egypt" title=" Egypt"> Egypt</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prevalence" title=" prevalence"> prevalence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=skin%20affection" title=" skin affection"> skin affection</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124209/prevalence-and-potential-risk-factors-associated-with-skin-affection-in-donkeys" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/124209.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">195</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2941</span> Early versus Late Percutaneous Tracheostomy in Critically Ill Adult Mechanically Ventilated Patients</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Kamel%20Abd%20Elaziz%20Mohamed">Kamel Abd Elaziz Mohamed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Yehia%20Mousa"> Ahmed Yehia Mousa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Samir%20ElSawy"> Ahmed Samir ElSawy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adel%20Mohamed%20Saleem"> Adel Mohamed Saleem </a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Introduction: Critically ill patients frequently require tracheostomy to simplify long term air way management. While tracheostomy indications have remained unchanged, the timing of elective tracheostomy for the ventilated patient has been questioned. Aim of the work: This study was performed to compare the differences between early and late percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) regarding, mechanical ventilation duration (MVD), length of ICU stay, length of hospital stay, incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia and hospital outcome. Patients and methods: Forty patients who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into early PDT who had the tracheostomy within the first 10 days of mechanical ventilation (MV) and the late PDT who had the tracheostomy after 10 days of MV. On admission, demographic data and Acute Physiology and Chronic ill Health II and GCS were collected. The duration of mechanical ventilation, ICU length of stay (LOS) and hospital LOS were all calculated. Results: Total of 40 patients were randomized to either early PDT (n= 20) or late PDT (n= 20). There were no significant differences between both groups regarding demographic data or the scores: APACHE II (22.75± 7 vs 24.35 ± 8) and GCS (6.10 ±2 vs 7.10 ± 2.71). An early PDT showed fewer complications vs late procedure, however it was insignificant. There were significant differences between the two groups regarding mean (MVD) which was shorter in early PDT than the late PDT group (32.2± 10.5) vs (20.6 ± 13 days; p= 0.004). Mean ICU stay was shorter in early PDT than late PDT (21 .0± 513.4) vs (40.15 ±12.7 days; p 6 0.001). Mean hospital stay was shorter in early PDT than late PDT (34.60± 18.37) vs (55.60± 25.73 days; p=0.005). Patients with early PDT suffered less sepsis and VAP than late PDT, there was no difference regarding the mortality rate between the two groups. Conclusion: Early PDT is recommended for patients who require prolonged tracheal intubation in the ICU as outcomes like the duration of mechanical ventilation length of ICU stay and hospital stay were significantly shorter in early tracheostomy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intensive%20care%20unit" title="intensive care unit">intensive care unit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=early%20PDT" title=" early PDT"> early PDT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=late%20PDT" title=" late PDT"> late PDT</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=intubation" title=" intubation"> intubation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19548/early-versus-late-percutaneous-tracheostomy-in-critically-ill-adult-mechanically-ventilated-patients" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/19548.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">600</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2940</span> Reliability of Slender Reinforced Concrete Columns: Part 1</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Metwally%20Abdel%20Aziz%20Ahmed">Metwally Abdel Aziz Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Shaban%20Abdel%20Hay%20Gabr"> Ahmed Shaban Abdel Hay Gabr</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Inas%20Mohamed%20Saleh"> Inas Mohamed Saleh</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The main objective of structural design is to ensure safety and functional performance requirements of a structural system for its target reliability levels. The shortage in crash data collection in developing countries makes it difficult to fully understand and address road safety issues in these regions. In developing countries, crowd-sourced data can be a valuable tool for improving road safety, particularly in urban areas where the majority of road crashes occur. This study is -to our best knowledge- the first to develop safety performance functions using crowd-sourced data by adopting a negative binomial structure model and the Full Bayes model to investigate traffic safety for urban road networks and provide insights into the impact of roadway characteristics. Furthermore, as a part of the safety management process, network screening has been undergone through applying two different methods to rank the most hazardous road segments: PCR method (adopted in the Highway Capacity Manual HCM) as well as a graphical method using GIS tools to compare and validate. Lastly, recommendations were suggested for policymakers to ensure safer roads. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crowdsourced%20data" title="crowdsourced data">crowdsourced data</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=road%20crashes" title=" road crashes"> road crashes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=safety%20performance%20functions" title=" safety performance functions"> safety performance functions</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Full%20Bayes%20models" title=" Full Bayes models"> Full Bayes models</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=network%20screening" title=" network screening"> network screening</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187824/using-crowd-sourced-data-to-assess-safety-in-developing-countries-the-case-study-of-eastern-cairo-egypt" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/187824.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">52</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2936</span> Characterization of the Near-Wake of an Ahmed Body Profile</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=St%C3%A9phanie%20Pellerin">Stéphanie Pellerin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=B%C3%A9reng%C3%A9re%20Podvin"> Bérengére Podvin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Luc%20Pastur"> Luc Pastur</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In aerovehicles context, the flow around an Ahmed body profile is simulated using the velocity-vorticity formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations, associated to a penalization method for solids and Large Eddy Simulation for turbulence. The main raison for this severs pollution is the rapid industrial development which led to more production of harmful pollutants. on the other hand, the core shell based magnetic materials have showed amazing character for controlling the material synthesis with the targeted structure to enhance the adsorptive removal of pollutants. Herein, the Fe3O4core-meso SiO2/TiO2 double shell have been prepared for methylene blue dye adsorption. the preparation procedure is controlled to prepare the magnetic core with further coating layers from silica and titania. The prepared Fe3O4core-meso SiO2/TiO2 double shell showed adsorption capacity for methylene blue removal about 50 mg/g at pH 6 after 80 min contact time form 50 ppm methylene blue solution. The adsorption process of methylene blue onto Fe3O4core-meso SiO2/TiO2 double shell was well fitted with the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and freundlish isotherm, indicating a quick and multilayer adsorption mechanism. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20core" title="magnetic core">magnetic core</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silica%20shell" title=" silica shell"> silica shell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=titania%20shell" title=" titania shell"> titania shell</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water%20treatment" title=" water treatment"> water treatment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=methylene%20blue" title=" methylene blue"> methylene blue</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=solvo-thermal%20process" title=" solvo-thermal process"> solvo-thermal process</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=adsorption" title=" adsorption"> adsorption</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156847/fabrication-of-fe3o4core-meso-sio2tio2-double-shell-for-dye-pollution-remediation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/156847.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">126</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2934</span> Investigation of Heat Transfer by Natural Convection in an Open Channel</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20S.%20Ahmed">Mahmoud S. The inclination angle is changed from 15º to 90º. Smooth and rough surface of average roughness (0.02 mm) are used and their effect on the heat transfer characteristics are studied. The local and average heat transfer coefficients and Nusselt number are obtained for smooth and rough channels at different heat flux values, different inclination angles and different Rayleigh numbers (Ra) 6.48 × 105 ≤ Ra ≤ 4.78 × 106. The results show that the local Nusselt number decreases with increase of axial distance from the lower end of the triangular channel to a point near the upper end of channel, and then, it slightly increases. Higher values of local Nusselt number for rough channel along the axial distance compared with the smooth channel. The average Nusselt number of rough channel is higher than that of smooth channel by about 8.1% for inclined case at θ = 45o and 10% for vertical case. The results obtained are correlated using dimensionless groups for both rough and smooth surfaces of the inclined and vertical triangular channels. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=natural%20heat%20transfer%20convection" title="natural heat transfer convection">natural heat transfer convection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=constant%20heat%20flux" title=" constant heat flux"> constant heat flux</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=open%20channels" title=" open channels"> open channels</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heat%20transfer" title=" heat transfer"> heat transfer</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26024/investigation-of-heat-transfer-by-natural-convection-in-an-open-channel" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/26024.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">393</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2933</span> Evaluation of Postural Stability in Patients with Flat Feet: A Controlled Trial</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ghada%20Mohamed%20Rashad">Ghada Mohamed Rashad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Doaa%20Ayoub%20Elimy"> Doaa Ayoub Elimy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Hussein%20Elgendy"> Mohamed Hussein Elgendy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Mohamed%20Fathi%20Elshiwi"> Ahmed Mohamed Fathi Elshiwi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mahmoud%20Ghazy"> Mahmoud Ghazy</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Background: Flat feet cause changes in foot mobility, foot posture, and load distribution under the foot which influences dynamic balance, that is essential in activities of daily living and for optimal performance in sports activity. Purpose: To investigate the effect of flat feet on dynamic balance including overall stability index (OAI), anteroposterior stability index (APSI) and mediolateral stability index (MLSI). Study Design: The design of the study was an experimental design. Subjects: Forty subjects from both sexes were selected from the Faculty of Physical Therapy, Cairo University, their mean age (23.55 ± 1.74 ) years, divided into two groups, group A (8 males and 12 females) with flat feet, and group B (9 males and 11 females) with normal feet. Methods: The Navicular Drop Test was used to determine if the feet were pronated and Biodex Balance System was used to assess dynamic balance at level 8 and level 4 for both groups. Results: There was no significant difference in dynamic balance including (OSI, APSI and MLSI) of the Biodex at stability level (8) (most stable) (p = 0.56). While there was a significant difference between both groups in all dependent variables at stability level (4) (less stable level) (p = 0.0001). Conclusion: It may be concluded that flat feet have an effect on dynamic balance and there is balance affection in subjects with flat feet. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=flat%20feet" title="flat feet">flat feet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20balance" title=" dynamic balance"> dynamic balance</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=postural%20stability" title=" postural stability"> postural stability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=types%20of%20flat%20feet" title=" types of flat feet"> types of flat feet</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=eversion%20strength" title=" eversion strength"> eversion strength</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36237/evaluation-of-postural-stability-in-patients-with-flat-feet-a-controlled-trial" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/36237.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">530</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2932</span> Serum MicroRNA and Inflammatory Mediators: Diagnostic Biomarkers for Endometritis in Arabian Mares</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sally%20Ibrahim">Sally Ibrahim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Hedia"> Mohamed Hedia</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Taqi"> Mohamed Taqi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Derbala"> Mohamed Derbala</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Karima%20Mahmoud"> Karima Mahmoud</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Youssef%20%20Ahmed"> Youssef Ahmed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Sayed%20Ismail"> Sayed Ismail</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20El-Belely"> Mohamed El-Belely</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> The identification and quantification of serum microRNA (miRNA) from mares with endometritis might serve as useful and implementable clinical biomarkers for the early diagnosis of endometiritis. Aims of the current study were (I) to study the expression pattern of eca-miR-155, eca-miR-223, eca-miR-17, eca-miR-200a, and eca-miR-205, and (II) to determine the levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6), prostaglandins (PGF₂α and PGE₂), in the serum of Arabian mares with healthy and abnormal uterine status (endometritis). This study was conducted on 80 Arabian mares (4-14 years old). Mares were divided into 48 sub-fertile mares suspected of endometritis and 32 fertile at stud farms. The criteria for mares to be enrolled in the endometritis group were that they had been bred three or more times unsuccessfully in the breeding season or had a history of more than one year of reproductive failure. In addition, two or more of the following criteria on a checklist were present: abnormal clinical findings, transrectal ultrasonographic uterine examination showed abnormal fluid in the uterus (echogenic or ≥2 cm in diameter), positive endometrial cytology; and bacterial and/or fungal growth. Serum samples were collected for measuring IL-6, PGF₂α, and PGE₂ concentrations, as well as serum miRNA isolation and quantitative real-time PCR. Serum concentrations of IL-6, PGE₂, and PGF₂α were higher (P ≤ 0.001) in mares with endometritis compared to the control healthy ones. The expression profile of eca-miR-155, eca-miR-223, eca-miR-17, eca-miR-200a, and eca-miR-205 increased (P≤0.001) in mares with endometritis compared to the control ones. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that revealed that serum miRNA and serum inflammatory mediators (IL-6, PGE₂, and PGF₂α) could be used as non-invasive gold standard biomarkers, and therefore might be served as an important additional diagnostic tool for endometritis in Arabian mares. Moreover, estimation of the serum concentrations of serum miRNA, IL-6, PGE₂, and PGF₂α is a promising recommended tool during the breeding soundness examination in mares. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arabian%20Mares" title="Arabian Mares">Arabian Mares</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=endometritis" title=" endometritis"> endometritis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=inflammatory%20mediators" title=" inflammatory mediators"> inflammatory mediators</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=serum%20miRNA" title=" serum miRNA "> serum miRNA </a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134942/serum-microrna-and-inflammatory-mediators-diagnostic-biomarkers-for-endometritis-in-arabian-mares" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/134942.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">180</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2931</span> Clinical and Molecular Characterization of Mycoplasmosis in Sheep in Egypt</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Walid%20Mousa">Walid Mousa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Mohamed%20Nayel"> Mohamed Nayel</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20Zaghawa"> Ahmed Zaghawa</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Akram%20Salama"> Akram Salama</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20El-Sify"> Ahmed El-Sify</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hesham%20Rashad"> Hesham Rashad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dina%20El-Shafey"> Dina El-Shafey</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Mycoplasmosis in small ruminants constitutes a serious contagious problem in smallholders causing severe economic losses worldwide. This study was conducted to determine the clinical, Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and molecular characterization of Mycoplasma species associated in sheep breeding herds in Menoufiya governorate, Egypt. Out of the examination of 400 sheep, 104 (26%) showed respiratory manifestations, nasal discharges, cough and conjunctivitis with systemic body reaction. Meanwhile, out of these examined sheep, only 56 (14%) were positive for mycoplasma isolation onto PPLO(Pleuropneumonia-like organisms) specific medium. The MIC for evaluating the efficacy of sensitivity of Mycoplasma isolates against different antibiotics groups revealed that both the Linospectin and Tylosin with 2ug, 0.25ug/ml concentration were the most effective antibiotics for Mycoplasma isolates. The application of PCR was the rapid, specific and sensitive molecular approach for detection of M. ovipneumoniae, and M. arginine at 390 and 326 bp, respectively, in all tested isolates. In conclusion, the diagnosis of Mycoplsamosis in sheep is important to achieve effective control measures and minimizing the disease dissemination among sheep herds. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=MIC" title="MIC">MIC</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mycoplasmosis" title=" mycoplasmosis"> mycoplasmosis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=PCR" title=" PCR"> PCR</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sheep" title=" sheep"> sheep</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136307/clinical-and-molecular-characterization-of-mycoplasmosis-in-sheep-in-egypt" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/136307.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">228</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">2930</span> The Effect of Jet Grouting on the Behavior of Strip Footing Adjacent to Slope Crest</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ahmed%20M.%20El-Tuhami">Ahmed M. This problem is investigated numerically in the present study. Two dimensional plane strain program PLAXIS is used in this study. 15 nodes triangular element is used to idealize soil with hardening soil model. Five nodes isoperimetric beam element is used to idealize stripe footing. Interface element is used to represent the contact between beam element and soil. Two parameters were studied, the first is the foundation depth and the second is the Stripe footing distance from the slope crest. Settlement and horizontal displacement of strip footing were obtained and studied from the analyzed finite element model results. The reduction influence of jet grouting on footing displacement were studied and investigated. The results indicate that the inclusion of jet grouting under strip footing adjacent to slope crest has significant effect in improving the response of the strip footing and the slope. <p
