The goal ofthe present study was to determine the bacterial etiology andantibiotic sensitivity patterns of neonatal sepsis. Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted on 208neonates admitted with clinically suspected sepsis over a periodof 30 months. Sepsis was divided into early onset sepsis(EOS, ≤5 days of age) and late onset sepsis (LOS, \u0026amp;amp;gt;5 days ofage). The two groups were further divided into proven (culturepositive ± abnormal markers) and probable (culture negative +abnormal markers) subgroups. Blood culture was performedusing Bactec. Results: Of 208 cases, 90 had neonatal sepsis consisting of 38(26 proven) presented as EOS and 52 (42 proven) as LOS. In theEOS, Escherichia coli (E. coli) was the most common organismfollowed by klebsiella spp, Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus). As for LOS, Coagulase-negative staphylococci (CONS) were themost common Its causative bacteria and their respective sensitivity patterns are different in each hospital and region. The objective of this study was to determine the causative bacteria and pattern of susceptibility to antibiotics in NICU of a tertiary care centre, which in turn may help in implementation of empirical therapy. This prospective study was carried out at a medical college during the period from 1st April 2011 to 31st March 2013. A total of 364 cases of suspected sepsis were admitted in our NICU during the mentioned period. Out of which, 137 cases were positive for culture. All the neonates of suspected sepsis were screened by using a panel consisting of CRP, ANC, I/T ratio, micro ESR and culture and sensitivity. A total of 137 cultures were found to be positive out of 364 cases. The present study aimed to evaluate the bacteriological profiles, antibiotic susceptibility patterns, risk factors, clinical manifestations, and laboratory findings in neonatal sepsis in southwest of Iran. Methods: In this descriptive-analytic study, 342 neonates with suspected sepsis admitted to the neonatal ward and NICU were included. Using standard protocols, blood samples were transported to the BACTEC blood culture system. Then, conventional biochemical tests were used for the identification of bacterial genera and species. The bacterial antimicrobial susceptibility patterns were determined usingagardisk diffusion method according to the CLSI guidelines. Demographic data, clinical findings, risk factors, mortality rates, and laboratory parameters were collected for each patient. Material and Methods: We searched all previously published papers to gather related information on Iranian neonatal sepsis in international and national databases (in both Persian and English) from 2006 to 2018. The standard STROBE checklist was used for quality assessment. The data were analyzed by statistical methods with a random-effects model using Stata 14 software. Results: A total of 89,472 neonates with sepsis (presented in 17 studies) were included in this systematic review. The mortality rate of neonates was 28.0%. The proportions of neonatal sepsis caused by Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria were 66.0% and 33.0%, respectively.
