Merci beaucoup Josep ! <br>Le timbre à gauche (1£) représente une <b>broche penannulaire en argent</b>, faisant partie du trésor de Penrith (Cumbria), exposé aujourd'hui au British Museum à Londres. <br>La broche penannulaire, à l'origine une attache utilitaire courante pour vêtements dans la Bretagne romaine, s'est développée à l'époque post-romaine. Les broches, portées par les hommes et les femmes, étaient fabriquées dans des métaux précieux et souvent décorées de pierres précieuses. Lorsque les Vikings commencèrent à attaquer et à coloniser les îles britanniques, ils se mirent à porter ces broches, mais désormais en argent simple. <br>L'autre timbre (2£) montre un <b>peigne et un étui en bois de cerf</b>, découverts lors des fouilles de Coppergate à York, effectuées entre 1976 et 1981. Ces fouilles ont permis de découvrir des faits nouveaux et passionnants sur le commerce prospère de York à l'époque viking, prouvant que la ville était un important centre commercial entre sa capture par les Vikings en 866 et la conquête normande de 1066. <br><i><span style="color: #e69138;">Designed by Studio Up and printed in France by Cartor Security Printers, these 8 stamps depict notable Viking objects with a map in the background showing the location of the site where they were discovered. <br>Two stamps from this set were used on the above cover sent on September 30, 2024 from Cambridge. Many thanks Josep! <br>The stamp on the left (£1.00) depicts a <b>silver penannular brooch</b>, part of the Penrith (Cumbria) hoard, now on display at the British Museum in London. <br>The penannular brooch, originally a common utilitarian fastening for clothing in Roman Britain, developed in the post-Roman period. Brooches, worn by both men and women, were made of precious metals and often decorated with gemstones. When the Vikings began to raid and colonise the British Isles, they began to wear these brooches, but now in plain silver. <br>The other stamp (£2.00) shows an <b>antler comb and case</b>, discovered during the excavations of Coppergate in York, carried out between 1976 and 1981. Il mesure 225 m de côté et atteint environ 65 m de haut. Sa construction a commencé pendant la période Tzacualli (1-150 après JC), lorsque Teotihuacán a commencé à se développer en tant que ville principale de la Mésoamérique. Il s'inspire du mythe des Cinq Soleils de la cosmogonie mésoaméricaine : 260 étapes originales, dont 52 correspondent à chaque soleil (ou époque). <br>L'autre timbre représente le <b>Temple du Grand Jaguar, faisant partie du site de Tikal </b>au Guatemala, l'une des plus grandes villes mayas de la période classique tardive-maya. Il s'agit d'un temple funéraire et cérémonial construit entre 734 et 750, qui est devenu la principale construction de Tikal.  <br>La pyramide a une hauteur de 47 mètres, avec 9 terrasses ou plates-formes et un escalier qui va de la base au sommet. Le temple était utilisé pour diverses cérémonies rituelles et était considéré comme la porte vers le monde souterrain.  <br>Les 2 sites de Teotihuacán et Tikal sont classés par l'UNESCO sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'humanité. <br>La figure mythologique du <b>serpent à plumes</b>, illustrée sur les 2 timbres, est partagée entre le Mexique et le Guatemala depuis l'époque précolombienne, reconnue comme une divinité qui représente la puissance du vent, la force de l'eau et la création de la vie. <br><i><span style="color: #e69138;">The first stamp is dedicated to the <b>Pyramid of the Sun, the largest building in Teotihuacán</b>, "The City of the Gods" in Mexico, one of the largest in Mesoamerica. It measures 225 m on each side and reaches approximately 65 m in height. Its construction began during the Tzacualli period (1-150 AD), when Teotihuacán began to develop as the main city of Mesoamerica.
