She holds a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra and a Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra. She is an integrated member of the BRIDGES – Biotechnology Research, Innovation and Design for Health Products since 01/2024 and a collaborating member of the Drug Development and Technology Laboratory and REQUIMTE / LAQV, Group of Nanoplatforms for Life.</p> <p>Filipa has extensive experience in clinical trials focusing on new biomarkers for identifying cardiometabolic risk, as well as in using animal models for various research purposes, such as surgeries in experimental animal models of type II diabetes mellitus. Her current research interests lie in Pharmaceutical Technology, particularly in developing nanosystems to improve drug bioavailability, efficacy, and reduce side effects. She is also involved in Additive Manufacturing (3D printing) for personalized therapy and is working on personalized dressings for treating skin wounds, including diabetic wounds and burns.</p> <p>Filipa has supervised numerous theses and internships, published extensively in scientific journals and proceedings, and has presented her work at numerous scientific congresses.
