class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Due to missing/ambiguous boundaries between the prostate and neighboring structures, the presence of shadow artifacts, as well as the large variability in prostate shapes, ultrasound prostate segmentation is challenging. To handle these issues, this paper develops a hybrid method for ultrasound prostate segmentation by combining an optimized closed principal curve-based method and the evolutionary neural network; the former can fit curves with great curvature and generate a contour composed of line segments connected by sorted vertices, and the latter is used to express an appropriate map function (represented by parameters of evolutionary neural network) for generating the smooth prostate contour to match the ground truth contour. Both qualitative and quantitative experimental results showed that our proposed method obtains accurate and robust performances. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ultrasound%20prostate%20segmentation" title="ultrasound prostate segmentation">ultrasound prostate segmentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimized%20closed%20polygonal%20segment%20method" title=" optimized closed polygonal segment method"> optimized closed polygonal segment method</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=evolutionary%20neural%20network" title=" evolutionary neural network"> evolutionary neural network</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=smooth%20mathematical%20model" title=" smooth mathematical model"> smooth mathematical model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=principal%20curve" title=" principal curve"> principal curve</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143203/combining-an-optimized-closed-principal-curve-based-method-and-evolutionary-neural-network-for-ultrasound-prostate-segmentation" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/143203.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">202</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">348</span> Preparation of Poly(Acrylic Acid) Functionalized Magnetic Graphene Oxide Composite and Its Application for Pb(II) Removal</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Wang">Yu Wang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xibang%20Chen"> Xibang Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maolin%20Zhai"> Maolin Zhai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Peng"> Jing Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jiuqiang%20Li"> Jiuqiang Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) functionalized magnetic graphene oxide (GO) composite was synthesized through a two-step process. Subsequent commentaries employed a number of methodologies in their analysis of pharmaceutical mechanisms, but no commentator was able to garner universal acceptance. During the Qing Dynasty, the proliferation and development of Neo-Confucian scholarship produced a new generation of scholars possessed of rigorous and inventive research methods, one of whom was the famed materia medica scholar, Run-an Zou. Run-an Zou and his successor Zhou Yan advocated analyzing the mechanism of Treatise pharmaceuticals based upon the understanding of those pharmaceuticals during the time period in which the Treatise was written and thereby focused on the Han Dynasty materia medica tract Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing (The Divine Husbandman’s Herbal Foundation Canon). Zou Run-an’s commentary, Ben-jing Shu-zheng won nearly universal praise among materia medica scholars for its scholastic rigor and innovative research methods. However, because Ben-jing Shu-zheng only focuses on individual herbs, as opposed to formulas, its value in analyzing the Shang-Han Lun has limitations. The purpose of this study is to combine Zou Run-an’s single-pharmaceutical commentaries to generate theoretical full formula analyses to gain a fuller picture of Zou’s understanding of the healing mechanism of Shang-Han Lun formulas. Commentaries were gathered from Ben-jing Shu-zheng and Zhou Yan’s Ben-cao Si-bian Lun and combined to produce theoretical full formula model mechanisms of Treatise formulas. Through this study, a new picture of the mechanistic basis of Shang-han formulas emerges, which is based on qi-xue changes as opposed to organ or meridian theory. The author hopes that this modest research study will be of service to scholars of the Shang-han and clinical doctors alike in their pursuit of the true pharmacomechanisms of this great Han dynasty tome. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Materia%20medica" title="Materia medica">Materia medica</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shang-han%20Lun" title=" Shang-han Lun"> Shang-han Lun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shen-nong%20Ben-cao%20Jing" title=" Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing"> Shen-nong Ben-cao Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=neo-Confucian%20scholarship" title=" neo-Confucian scholarship"> neo-Confucian scholarship</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267/an-investigation-of-the-pharmacomechanisms-of-shang-han-lun-formulas-as-elucidated-in-the-qing-dynasty-classic-ben-jing-shu-zheng" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86267.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">319</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">346</span> Direct Palladium-Catalyzed Selective N-Allylation of 2,3-Disubstituted Indoles with Allylic Alcohols in Water</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bai-Jing%20Peng">Bai-Jing Peng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Shyh-Chyun%20Yang"> Shyh-Chyun Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Organic reactions in water have recently attracted much attention, not only because unique reactivity is often observed in water but also because water is a safe and economical substitute for conventional organic solvents. Thus, development of environmental safe, atom-economical reactions in water is one of the most important goals of synthetic chemistry. The recent paper has documented renewed interest in the use of allylic substrates in the synthesis of new C−C, C−N, and C−O bonds. We have reported our attempts and some successful applications of a process involving the C-O bond cleavage catalyzed by palladium or platinum complexes in water. Because of the importance of heterocycle indole derivatives, much effort has been directed toward the development of methods for functionalization of the indole nucleus at N1 site. In our research, the palladium-catalyzed 2,3-disubstitued indoles with allylic alcohols was investigated under different conditions. Herein, we will establish a simple, convenient, and efficient method, which affords high yields of allylated indoles. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=palladium-catalyzed" title="palladium-catalyzed">palladium-catalyzed</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=allylic%20alcohols" title=" allylic alcohols"> allylic alcohols</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=indoles" title=" indoles"> indoles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=water" title=" water"> water</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=allylation" title=" allylation"> allylation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71957/direct-palladium-catalyzed-selective-n-allylation-of-23-disubstituted-indoles-with-allylic-alcohols-in-water" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/71957.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">238</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">345</span> The Textual Criticism on the Age of ‘Wan Li’ Shipwreck Porcelain and Its Comparison with ‘Whitte Leeuw’ and Hatcher Shipwreck Porcelain</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20Liu">Yang Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Dongliang%20Lyu"> Dongliang Lyu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> After the Wan li shipwreck was discovered 60 miles off the east coast of Tan jong Jara in Malaysia, numerous marvelous ceramic shards have been salvaged from the seabed. Remarkable pieces of Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelain recovered from the site represent the essential part of the fascinating research. The porcelain cargo of Wan li shipwreck is significant to the studies on exported porcelains and Jing dezhen porcelain manufacture industry of Late-Ming dynasty. Using the ceramic shards categorization and the study of the Chinese and Western historical documents as a research strategy, the paper wants to shed new light on the Wan li shipwreck wares classification with Jingdezhen kiln ceramic as its main focus. The article is also discussing Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelains from the perspective of domestic versus export markets and further proceeding to the systematization and analyses of Wan li shipwreck porcelain which bears witness to the forms, styles, and types of decoration that were being traded in this period. The porcelain data from two other shipwrecked projects -White Leeuw and Hatcher- were chosen as comparative case studies and Wan li shipwreck Jing dezhen blue-and-white porcelain is being reinterpreted in the context of art history and archeology of the region. The marine archaeologist Sten Sjostrand named the ship ‘Wanli shipwreck’ because its porcelain cargoes are typical of those made during the reign of Emperor Wan li of Ming dynasty. Though some scholars question the appropriateness of the name, the final verdict of the history is still to be made. Based on previous historical argumentation, the article uses a comparative approach to review the Wan li shipwreck blue-and-white porcelains on the grounds of the porcelains unearthed from the tomb or abandoned in the towns and carrying the time-specific reign mark. All these materials provide a very strong evidence which suggests that the porcelain recovered from Wan li ship can be dated to as early as the second year of Tianqi era (1622) and early Chongzhen reign. Lastly, some blue-and-white porcelain intended for the domestic market and some bowls of blue-and-white porcelain from Jing dezhen kilns recovered from the Wan li shipwreck all carry at the bottom the specific residue from the firing process. The author makes the corresponding analysis for these two interesting phenomena. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blue-and-white%20porcelain" title="blue-and-white porcelain">blue-and-white porcelain</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ming%20dynasty" title=" Ming dynasty"> Ming dynasty</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20dezhen%20kiln" title=" Jing dezhen kiln"> Jing dezhen kiln</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wan%20li%20shipwreck" title=" Wan li shipwreck"> Wan li shipwreck</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101043/the-textual-criticism-on-the-age-of-wan-li-shipwreck-porcelain-and-its-comparison-with-whitte-leeuw-and-hatcher-shipwreck-porcelain" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/101043.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">189</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">344</span> A Privacy Protection Scheme Supporting Fuzzy Search for NDN Routing Cache Data Name</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Feng%20Tao">Feng Tao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ma%20Jing"> Ma Jing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guo%20Xian"> Guo Xian</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wang%20Jing"> Wang Jing</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Named Data Networking (NDN) replaces IP address of traditional network with data name, and adopts dynamic cache mechanism. In the existing mechanism, however, only one-to-one search can be achieved because every data has a unique name corresponding to it. There is a certain mapping relationship between data content and data name, so if the data name is intercepted by an adversary, the privacy of the data content and user’s interest can hardly be guaranteed. In order to solve this problem, this paper proposes a one-to-many fuzzy search scheme based on order-preserving encryption to reduce the query overhead by optimizing the caching strategy. The thermal simulation analysis of the cryomodule is important theory foundation of optimization and commissioning. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=C-ADS" title="C-ADS">C-ADS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryomodule" title=" cryomodule"> cryomodule</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structure" title=" structure"> structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=thermal%20simulation" title=" thermal simulation"> thermal simulation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=static%20heat%20load" title=" static heat load"> static heat load</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dynamic%20heat%20load" title=" dynamic heat load"> dynamic heat load</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75463/design-and-thermal-simulation-analysis-of-the-chinese-accelerator-driven-sub-critical-system-injector-i-cryomodule" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/75463.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">401</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">342</span> Risk Assessment of Heavy Metals in River Sediments and Suspended Matter in Small Tributaries of Abandoned Mercury Mines in Wanshan, Guizhou</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Guo-Hui%20Lu">Guo-Hui Lu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing-Yi%20Cai"> Jing-Yi Cai</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ke-Yan%20Tan"> Ke-Yan Tan</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiao-Cai%20Yin"> Xiao-Cai Yin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yu%20Zheng"> Yu Zheng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng-Wei%20Shao"> Peng-Wei Shao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yong-Liang%20Yang"> Yong-Liang Yang</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Soil erosion around abandoned mines is one of the important geological agents for pollutant diffuses to the lower reaches of the local river basin system. River loading of pollutants is an important parameter for remediation of abandoned mines. In order to obtain information on pollutant transport and diffusion downstream in mining area, the small tributary system of the Xiaxi River in Wanshan District of Guizhou Province was selected as the research area. Sediment and suspended matter samples were collected and determined for Pb, As, Hg, Zn, Co, Cd, Cu, Ni, Cr, and Mn by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and atomic fluorescence spectrometry (AFS) with the pretreatment of wet digestion. Discussions are made for pollution status and spatial distribution characteristics. The total Hg content in the sediments ranged from 0.45 to 16.0 g/g (dry weight) with an average of 5.79 g/g, which was ten times higher than the limit of Class II soil for mercury by the National Soil Environmental Quality Standard. The maximum occurred at the intersection of the Jin River and the Xiaxi River. The potential ecological hazard index (RI) was used to evaluate the ecological risk of heavy metals in the sediments. The average RI value for the whole study area suggests the high potential ecological risk level. High Cd potential ecological risk was found at individual sites. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=heavy%20metal" title="heavy metal">heavy metal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20assessment" title=" risk assessment"> risk assessment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sediment" title=" sediment"> sediment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=suspended%20matter" title=" suspended matter"> suspended matter</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wanshan%20mercury%20mine" title=" Wanshan mercury mine"> Wanshan mercury mine</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=small%20tributary%20system" title=" small tributary system"> small tributary system</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108537/risk-assessment-of-heavy-metals-in-river-sediments-and-suspended-matter-in-small-tributaries-of-abandoned-mercury-mines-in-wanshan-guizhou" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/108537.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">130</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">341</span> Development and Evaluation of a Psychological Adjustment and Adaptation Status Scale for Breast Cancer Survivors</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Chen">Jing Chen</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jun-E%20Liu"> Jun-E Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Yue"> Peng Yue</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Objective: The objective of this study was to develop a psychological adjustment and adaptation status scale for breast cancer survivors, and to examine the reliability and validity of the scale. Method: 37 breast cancer survivors were recruited in qualitative research; a five-subject theoretical framework and an item pool of 150 items of the scale were derived from the interview data. In order to evaluate and select items and reach a preliminary validity and reliability for the original scale, the suggestions of study group members, experts and breast cancer survivors were taken, and statistical methods were used step by step in a sample of 457 breast cancer survivors. Results: An original 24-item scale was developed. The five dimensions “domestic affections”, “interpersonal relationship”, “attitude of life”, “health awareness”, “self-control/self-efficacy” explained 58.053% of the total variance. The content validity was assessed by experts, the CVI was 0.92. The construct validity was examined in a sample of 264 breast cancer survivors. The fitting indexes of confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) showed good fitting of the five dimensions model. The criterion-related validity of the total scale with PTGI was satisfactory (r=0.564, p<0.001). The internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability were tested. Cronbach’s alpha value (0.911) showed a good internal consistency reliability, and the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC=0.925, p<0.001) showed a satisfactory test-retest reliability. Conclusions: The scale was brief and easy to understand, was suitable for breast cancer patients whose physical strength and energy were limited. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=breast%20cancer%20survivors" title="breast cancer survivors">breast cancer survivors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=rehabilitation" title=" rehabilitation"> rehabilitation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=psychological%20adaption%20and%20adjustment" title=" psychological adaption and adjustment"> psychological adaption and adjustment</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=development%20of%20scale" title=" development of scale"> development of scale</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12132/development-and-evaluation-of-a-psychological-adjustment-and-adaptation-status-scale-for-breast-cancer-survivors" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/12132.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">513</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">340</span> Assessment of Carbon Dioxide Separation by Amine Solutions Using Electrolyte Non-Random Two-Liquid and Peng-Robinson Models: Carbon Dioxide Absorption Efficiency </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arash%20Esmaeili">Arash Esmaeili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhibang%20Liu"> Zhibang Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20Xiang"> Yang Xiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jimmy%20Yun"> Jimmy Yun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lei%20Shao"> Lei Shao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A high pressure carbon dioxide (CO2) absorption from a specific gas in a conventional column has been evaluated by the Aspen HYSYS simulator using a wide range of single absorbents and blended solutions to estimate the outlet CO2 concentration, absorption efficiency and CO2 loading to choose the most proper solution in terms of CO2 capture for environmental concerns. It is an important work for the world to study the ancient civilizations and medical history of China. Language in HDNJ is highly concise and vague, and notably challenging to translate. This paper investigates the translatability of one particular vagueness in HDNJ: the conceptual vagueness which carries the Chinese philosophical and cultural connotations. The corpora tool Sketch Engine is used to provide potential online contexts and word behaviors. Selected two English translations of HDNJ by TCM practitioner and non-practitioner are used to examine frequency and distribution of linguistic features of the translation. It was found the hypothesis about the universals of translated language (explicitation, normalisation) is true in one translation, but it is on the sacrifice of some original contextual connotations. Transliteration is purposefully used in the second translation to retain the original flavor, which is argued as a violation of the principle of relevance in communication because it yields little contextual effects and demands more processing effort of the reader. The translatability of conceptual vagueness in HDNJ is constrained by source language context and the reader’s cognitive environment. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=corpus-based%20translation" title="corpus-based translation">corpus-based translation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=translatability" title=" translatability"> translatability</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TCM%20classics" title=" TCM classics"> TCM classics</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vague%20language" title=" vague language"> vague language</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95082/corpus-based-analysis-on-the-translatability-of-conceptual-vagueness-in-traditional-chinese-medicine-classics-huang-di-nei-jing" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/95082.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">377</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">338</span> Bubble Point Pressures of CO2+Ethyl Palmitate by a Cubic Equation of State and the Wong-Sandler Mixing Rule</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=M.%20A.%20Sedghamiz">M. The first method involves the Peng-Robinson (PR) Equation of State (EoS) with the conventional mixing rule of Van der Waals. The second approach involves the PR EOS together with the Wong Sandler (WS) mixing rule, coupled with the Uniquac Ge model. In order to model the bubble point pressures with this approach, the volume and area parameter for ethyl palmitate were estimated by the Hansen group contribution method. The last method involved the Peng-Robinson, combined with the Wong-Sandler Method, but using NRTL as the GE model. Results using the Van der Waals mixing rule clearly indicated that this method has the largest errors among all three methods, with errors in the range of 3.96–6.22 %. The Pr-Ws-Uniquac method exhibited small errors, with average absolute deviations between 0.95 to 1.97 percent. The Pr-Ws-Nrtl method led to the least errors where average absolute deviations ranged between 0.65-1.7%. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bubble%20pressure" title="bubble pressure">bubble pressure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Gibbs%20excess%20energy%20model" title=" Gibbs excess energy model"> Gibbs excess energy model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=mixing%20rule" title=" mixing rule"> mixing rule</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=CO2%20solubility" title=" CO2 solubility"> CO2 solubility</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ethyl%20palmitate" title=" ethyl palmitate"> ethyl palmitate</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2308/bubble-point-pressures-of-co2ethyl-palmitate-by-a-cubic-equation-of-state-and-the-wong-sandler-mixing-rule" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/2308.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">474</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">337</span> Advances in the Studies on Evaluation of Diversity and Habitat Preferences of Amphibians of Nigeria</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Md%20Mizanur%20Rahman">Md Mizanur Rahman</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lotanna%20Micah%20Nneji"> Lotanna Micah Nneji</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Adeola%20C.%20Adeniyi"> Adeola C. However, a dearth of herpetological studies has restricted information on the amphibian diversity in Nigeria. To cover the gap of knowledge, this study focused field surveys on relatively less studied forests–Afi Forest Reserve and Ikpan forest ecosystem. The goal of this study is to make a checklist and to investigate the habitat preferences of amphibians in these two forests. The study areas were surveyed between August 2018 and July 2019 following visual and acoustic methods. Individuals were identified using the morphological and molecular (16S ribosomal RNA) approach. Literature searches were conducted to document additional species that were not encountered during the current field surveys. Using the observational records and arrays of diversity indices, the patterns of species richness and abundance across habitat types were evaluated. Voucher specimens and tissue samples were deposited in the museums of the Department of Zoology, University of Ibadan Nigeria, and the remainder at the Kunming Institute of Zoology (KIZ), Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming, China. The result of this study revealed the presence of 30 and 31 amphibian species from the Afi Forest Reserve and the Ikpan Forest Ecosystem, respectively. There were two unidentified species from AFR and one from IFE. In total, 324 individuals of amphibian species were observed from the two study areas. Forest and swamps showed high species diversity and richness than the agricultural field and savannah. Savannah and agricultural fields had the highest similarity in the species composition. Given the increased human disturbances and consequent threats to these forests, this study offers recommendations for the initiation of conservation plans immediately. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=biodiversity" title="biodiversity">biodiversity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=conservation" title=" conservation"> conservation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=cryptic%20species" title=" cryptic species"> cryptic species</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ecology" title=" ecology"> ecology</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=integrated%20taxonomy" title=" integrated taxonomy"> integrated taxonomy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=species%20inventory" title=" species inventory"> species inventory</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/119663/advances-in-the-studies-on-evaluation-of-diversity-and-habitat-preferences-of-amphibians-of-nigeria" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/119663.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">167</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">336</span> Simulation and Assessment of Carbon Dioxide Separation by Piperazine Blended Solutions Using E-NRTL and Peng-Robinson Models: Study of Regeneration Heat Duty</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Arash%20Esmaeili">Arash Esmaeili</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhibang%20Liu"> Zhibang Liu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yang%20Xiang"> Yang Xiang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jimmy%20Yun"> Jimmy Yun</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lei%20Shao"> Lei Shao</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> A high-pressure carbon dioxide (CO₂) absorption from a specific off-gas in a conventional column has been evaluated for the environmental concerns by the Aspen HYSYS simulator using a wide range of single absorbents and piperazine (PZ) blended solutions to estimate the outlet CO₂ concentration, CO₂ loading, reboiler power supply, and regeneration heat duty to choose the most efficient solution in terms of CO₂ removal and required heat duty. High-temperature oxidation (HTO) was performed on the as-built WE43 to improve its biodegradation behavior. A sandwich structure including an oxide layer at the surface, a transition layer in the middle, and the matrix was generated influenced by the oxidation reaction and diffusion of RE atoms when heated at 525 ℃for 8 hours. The oxide layer consisted of Y₂O₃ and Nd₂O₃ oxides with a thickness of 2-3 μm. The transition layer is composed of α-Mg and Y₂O₃ with a thickness of 60-70 μm, while Mg24RE5 could be observed except α-Mg and Y₂O₃. The oxide layer and transition layer appeared to have an effective passivation effect. The as-built WE43 lost 40% weight after the in vitro immersion test for three days and finally broke into debris after seven days of immersion. The high-temperature oxidation samples kept the structural integrity and lost only 6.88 % weight after 28-day immersion. The corrosion rate of HTO samples was significantly controlled, which improved the biocompatibility of the as-built WE43 at the same time. The samples after HTO had better osteogenic capability according to ALP activity. Moreover, as built WE43 performed unqualified in cell adhesion and hemolytic test due to its excessively rapid corrosion rate. This construction infers that the factors-residuals log volatilities are correlated. Here, we consider the case of a single factor where the only dominant common mode is a S-fbm process (introduced by Peng, Bacry and Muzy) with Hurst exponent H around 0.11 and the residuals having in addition to the previous common mode idiosyncratic components with Hurst exponents H around 0. The reason for considering this configuration is twofold: preserve the Nested factor model’s characteristics introduced by Bouchaud and al. and propose a framework through which the stylized fact reported by Peng and al. is reproduced, where it has been observed that the Hurst exponents of stock indices are large as compared to those of individual stocks. In this work, we show that the Log S-fbm Nested factor model’s construction leads to a Hurst exponent of single stocks being the ones of the idiosyncratic volatility modes and the Hurst exponent of the index being the one of the common volatility modes. Furthermore, we propose a statistical procedure to estimate the Hurst factor exponent from the stock returns dynamics together with theoretical guarantees, with good results in the limit where the number of stocks N goes to infinity. Last but not least, we show that the factor can be seen as an index constructed from the single stocks weighted by specific coefficients. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hurst%20exponent" title="hurst exponent">hurst exponent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=log%20S-fbm%20model" title=" log S-fbm model"> log S-fbm model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nested%20factor%20model" title=" nested factor model"> nested factor model</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=small%20intermittency%20approximation" title=" small intermittency approximation"> small intermittency approximation</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186694/the-log-s-fbm-nested-factor-model" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/186694.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">49</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">333</span> Skew Cyclic Codes over Fq+uFq+…+uk-1Fq</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Li">Jing Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Xiuli%20Li"> Xiuli Li</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper studies a special class of linear codes, called skew cyclic codes, over the ring <em>R</em>= <em>Fq</em>+<em>uFq</em>+…+<em>uk-</em>1<em>Fq</em>, where <em>q</em> is a prime power. Widely used refrigerants such as CFCs and HFCs cause significant global warming. Natural refrigerants can be an alternative to them, among which carbon dioxide is promising for use in automotive air conditioning systems. Its inherent safety, ability to withstand high pressure and high heat transfer coefficient coupled with easy availability make it a likely choice for refrigerant. Various properties of the ionic liquid [bmim][PF₆], such as non-toxicity, stability over a wide temperature range and ability to dissolve gases like carbon dioxide, make it a suitable absorbent for a vapor absorption refrigeration system. In this paper, an absorption chiller consisting of a generator, condenser, evaporator and absorber was studied at an operating temperature of 70⁰C. A thermodynamic model was set up using the Peng-Robinson equations of state to predict the behavior of the refrigerant and absorbent pair at different points in the system. A MATLAB code was used to obtain the values of enthalpy and entropy at selected points in the system. The exergy destruction in each component and exergetic coefficient of performance (ECOP) of the system were calculated by performing an exergy analysis based on the second law of thermodynamics. Graphs were plotted between varying operating conditions and the ECOP obtained in each case. The effect of every component on the ECOP was examined. The exergetic coefficient of performance was found to be lesser than the coefficient of performance based on the first law of thermodynamics. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%5Bbmim%5D%5BPF%E2%82%86%5D%20as%20absorbent" title="[bmim][PF₆] as absorbent">[bmim][PF₆] as absorbent</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=carbon%20dioxide%20as%20refrigerant" title=" carbon dioxide as refrigerant"> carbon dioxide as refrigerant</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=exergy%20analysis" title=" exergy analysis"> exergy analysis</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng-Robinson%20equations%20of%20state" title=" Peng-Robinson equations of state"> Peng-Robinson equations of state</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=vapor%20absorption%20refrigeration" title=" vapor absorption refrigeration"> vapor absorption refrigeration</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73396/exergy-analysis-of-a-vapor-absorption-refrigeration-system-using-carbon-dioxide-as-refrigerant" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/73396.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">288</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">329</span> The Transformation of Beauty and Ugliness in Art Aesthetics</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Wenjin%20Li">Wenjin Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Jing%20Sun"> Jing Sun</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Since the mid-eighteenth century, when philosophers began to talk about aesthetic consciousness, beauty gradually became an independent system, and ugliness was often considered the opposite of beauty and neglected. A child with ID creates a wide set of challenges to the individual, family, and society, and overweight and obesity aggravate those challenges. People with ID have the right to attain optimal health like the rest of the population. They should be given priority to eliminate existing health inequities. Childhood obesity epidemic and associated factors among children, in general, has been well documented, while knowledge about overweight and obesity in children with ID is scarce. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 524 Chinese children with ID (males: 68.9%, mean age: 12.2 years) in Hong Kong in 2015. Children’s height and weight were measured at school. Parents, in the presence of their children, completed a self-administered questionnaire at home about the children’s physical activity (PA), eating habits, and sleep duration in a typical week as well as parenting practices regarding children’s eating and PA, and their socio-demographic characteristics. Multivariate logistic regression estimated the potential risk factors for children being overweight. Results: The prevalence of overweight and obesity in children with ID was 31.3%, which was higher than their general counterparts (18.7%-19.9%). Multivariate analyses revealed that the risk factors of overweight and obese in children with ID included: comorbidity with autism, the maternal side being overweight or obese, parenting practices with less pressure to eat more, children having shorter sleep duration, longer periods of sedentary behavior, and higher intake frequencies of sweetened food, fried food, and meats, fish, and eggs. Children born in other places, having snacks more frequently, and having irregular meals were also more likely to be overweight or obese, with marginal significance. Conclusions: Children with ID are more vulnerable to being overweight or obese than their typically developing counterparts. Identified risk factors in this study highlight a multifaceted approach to the involvement of parents as well as the modification of some children’s questionable behaviors to help them achieve a healthy weight. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=prevalence" title="prevalence">prevalence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=risk%20factors" title=" risk factors"> risk factors</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=obesity" title=" obesity"> obesity</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=children%20with%20disability" title=" children with disability"> children with disability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90118/prevalence-and-associated-factors-of-overweight-and-obesity-in-children-with-intellectual-disability-a-cross-sectional-study-among-chinese-children" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/90118.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">136</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">327</span> Performance Comparison of Non-Binary RA and QC-LDPC Codes</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ni%20Wenli">Ni Wenli</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=He%20Jing"> He Jing</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Repeat–Accumulate (RA) codes are subclass of LDPC codes with fast encoder structures. The reason for this massive acceptance of the technology by both home users and corporations is assuredly due to the "plug-and-play" nature of the technology and the mobility. The lack of physical containment due to inherent nature of the wireless medium makes maintenance very challenging from a security standpoint. This study examines via continuous monitoring various predictable threats that 802.11 networks can face, how they are executed, where each attack may be executed and how to effectively defend against them. The key goal is to identify the key components of an effective wireless security policy. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wireless%20LAN" title="wireless LAN">wireless LAN</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=IEEE%20802.11%20standards" title=" IEEE 802.11 standards"> IEEE 802.11 standards</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=continuous%20monitoring" title=" continuous monitoring"> continuous monitoring</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=security%20policy" title=" security policy"> security policy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29260/a-cm-based-model-for-80211-networks-security-policies-enforcement" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/29260.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">380</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">324</span> Rapid Nanoparticle Formulation Development and Screening Using NanoFabTxTM Platform</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Zhen%20Ye">Zhen Ye</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Maryam%20Zaroudi"> Maryam Zaroudi</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Elizabeth%20Aisenbrey"> Elizabeth Aisenbrey</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Nicolynn%20E.%20Davis"> Nicolynn E. It is found that following symbolic anthropologists, the ethnographic approach was adapted by consumer culture researchers to study modern rituals and marketers to enhance consumption. In the domain of design, although there are already designers aware of the importance of ritualistic dimension of human interaction, there are little frameworks for conceptualizing and developing rituals. The conceptualized framework and developing tools is proposed and suggestions of applying it is made in the end of the paper. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ritual" title="ritual">ritual</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=ritual%20design" title=" ritual design"> ritual design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=service%20design" title=" service design"> service design</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=symbolic%20interaction" title=" symbolic interaction"> symbolic interaction</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92321/from-service-to-ritual-preliminary-development-on-conceptual-framework-for-designing-ritual" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/92321.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">193</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">322</span> Leveraging Deep Q Networks in Portfolio Optimization</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Peng%20Liu">Peng Liu</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Deep Q networks (DQNs) represent a significant advancement in reinforcement learning, utilizing neural networks to approximate the optimal Q-value for guiding sequential decision processes. Through improved communication and automated procedures, its popularity has assisted users in raising the quality of work. These devices are used in healthcare in order to better collect the patient’s data for their treatment. They are generally considered safe and secure. However, there is some possibility that some loopholes do exist which manufacturers do need to identify before some hacker takes advantage of them. For this study, we focused on two medical IoT devices which are pacemakers and hearing aids. The aim of this paper is to identify if there is any likelihood of these medical devices being hijacked and used as a botnet in Distributed Denial-Of Service attacks. The transmission loss (TL) in the muffler is maximized by the use of a double-chamber muffler, and a baffle with a hole is inserted between chambers. Taguchi method is used to optimize the design for the acoustical performance of the muffler. The TL performance is evaluated by COMSOL software. The excellent parameter combination for the maximum TL is attained as high as 35.30 dB in a wide frequency range from 10 Hz to 1400 Hz. The influence sequence of four parameters on TL is determined by the range analysis. The effects of length and expansion ratio of the first chamber on TL performance for the excellent program were discussed. Comparisons of the TL results from different designs are made. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=acoustics"
