Each pillar contained two alpha lamellae separated by a thin fillet of beta phase. A nano-indenter was then used to conduct uniaxial micro-compression tests on Ti alloy single crystals, using a diamond flat tip as a compression platen. By controlling the crystal orientation along the micro-pillar using Electron back scattering diffraction (EBSD) different slip systems have been selectively activated. The advantage of the micro-compression method over conventional mechanical testing techniques is the ability to localize a single crystal volume which is characterizable after deformation. By matching the stress-strain relations resulting from micro-compression experiments to TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy) studies of slip transmission mechanisms through the α-β interfaces, some proper constitutive material parameters such as the role of these interfaces in determining yield, strain-hardening behaviour, initial dislocation density and the critical resolved shear stress are suggested. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=%CE%B1%2F%CE%B2-Ti%20alloy" title="α/β-Ti alloy">α/β-Ti alloy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=focused%20ion%20beam" title=" focused ion beam"> focused ion beam</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=micro-mechanical%20test" title=" micro-mechanical test"> micro-mechanical test</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nano-indentation" title=" nano-indentation"> nano-indentation</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20electron%20diffraction" title=" transmission electron diffraction"> transmission electron diffraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=plastic%20flow" title=" plastic flow"> plastic flow</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18002/a-slip-transmission-through-alphabeta-boundaries-in-a-titanium-alloy-ti-6al-4v" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/18002.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3032</span> Chromia-Carbon Nanocomposite Materials for Energy Storage Devices</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Muhammad%20A.%20Nadeem">Muhammad A. TEM and SAED analysis shows that turbostatic graphitic carbon was obtained with high crystallinity. The nanocomposites were tested for electrochemical supercapacitor and the faradic and non-Faradic processes were checked through cyclic voltammetry (CV). The maximum specific capacitance calculated for Cr2O3/C 900 sample from CV measurement is 301 F g-1 at 2 mV s-1 due to its maximum charge storing capacity as confirm by frequency response analysis. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanocomposites" title="nanocomposites">nanocomposites</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20electron%20microscopy" title=" transmission electron microscopy"> transmission electron microscopy</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=non-faradic%20process" title=" non-faradic process"> non-faradic process</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14190/chromia-carbon-nanocomposite-materials-for-energy-storage-devices" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14190.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">435</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3031</span> X-Ray Dynamical Diffraction &#039;Third Order Nonlinear Renninger Effect&#039;</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Minas%20Balyan">Minas Balyan</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Nowadays X-ray nonlinear diffraction and nonlinear effects are investigated due to the presence of the third generation synchrotron sources and XFELs. X-ray third order nonlinear dynamical diffraction is considered as well. Using the nonlinear model of the usual visible light optics the third-order nonlinear Takagi’s equations for monochromatic waves and the third-order nonlinear time-dependent dynamical diffraction equations for X-ray pulses are obtained by the author in previous papers. The obtained equations show, that even if the Fourier-coefficients of the linear and the third order nonlinear susceptibilities are zero (forbidden reflection), the dynamical diffraction in the nonlinear case is related to the presence in the nonlinear equations the terms proportional to the zero order and the second order nonzero Fourier coefficients of the third order nonlinear susceptibility. Thus, in the third order nonlinear Bragg diffraction case a nonlinear analogue of the well-known Renninger effect takes place. In this work, the 'third order nonlinear Renninger effect' is considered theoretically. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bragg%20diffraction" title="Bragg diffraction">Bragg diffraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20Takagi%E2%80%99s%20equations" title=" nonlinear Takagi’s equations"> nonlinear Takagi’s equations</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nonlinear%20Renninger%20effect" title=" nonlinear Renninger effect"> nonlinear Renninger effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=third%20order%20nonlinearity" title=" third order nonlinearity"> third order nonlinearity</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55035/x-ray-dynamical-diffraction-third-order-nonlinear-renninger-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/55035.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">385</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3030</span> Beam Deflection with Unidirectionality Due to Zeroth Order and Evanescent Wave Coupling in a Photonic Crystal with a Defect Layer without Corrugations under Oblique Incidence</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Evrim%20Colak">Evrim Colak</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Andriy%20E.%20Serebryannikov"> Andriy E. In all of the studied cases, the defect layer is placed such that the symmetry is broken. Two types of deflection are observed depending on whether the zeroth order is coupled or not. These two scenarios can be distinguished from each other by considering the simulated field distribution in PC. In the first deflection type, Floquet-Bloch mode enables zeroth order coupling. The energy of the zeroth order is redistributed between the diffraction orders at the defect layer, providing deflection. In the second type, when zeroth order is not coupled, strong diffractions cause blazing and the evanescent waves deliver energy to higher order diffraction modes. Simulated isofrequency contours can be utilized to estimate the coupling behavior. The defect layer is placed at varying rows, preserving the asymmetry of PC while evancescent waves can still couple to higher order modes. Even for deeply buried defect layer, asymmetric transmission and beam deflection are still encountered when the zeroth order is not coupled. We assume ε=11.4 (refractive index close to that of GaAs and Si) for the PC rods. A possible operation wavelength can be within microwave and infrared range. Since the suggested material is low loss, the structure can be scaled down to operate higher frequencies. Thus, a sample operation wavelength is selected as 1.5μm. Although the structure employs no surface corrugations transmission value T≈0.97 can be achieved by means of diffraction order m=-1. Moreover, utilizing an extra line defect, T value can be increased upto 0.99, under oblique incidence even if the line defect layer is deeply embedded in the photonic crystal. The latter configuration can be used to obtain deflection in one frequency range and can also be utilized for the realization of another functionality like defect-mode wave guiding in another frequency range but still using the same structure. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=asymmetric%20transmission" title="asymmetric transmission">asymmetric transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=beam%20deflection" title=" beam deflection"> beam deflection</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=blazing" title=" blazing"> blazing</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=bi-directional%20splitting" title=" bi-directional splitting"> bi-directional splitting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defect%20layer" title=" defect layer"> defect layer</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dual%20beam%20splitting" title=" dual beam splitting"> dual beam splitting</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Floquet-Bloch%20modes" title=" Floquet-Bloch modes"> Floquet-Bloch modes</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=isofrequency%20contours" title=" isofrequency contours"> isofrequency contours</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=line%20defect" title=" line defect"> line defect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=oblique%20incidence" title=" oblique incidence"> oblique incidence</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photonic%20crystal" title=" photonic crystal"> photonic crystal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=unidirectionality" title=" unidirectionality"> unidirectionality</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94547/beam-deflection-with-unidirectionality-due-to-zeroth-order-and-evanescent-wave-coupling-in-a-photonic-crystal-with-a-defect-layer-without-corrugations-under-oblique-incidence" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/94547.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">262</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3029</span> Improved Performance Scheme for Joint Transmission in Downlink Coordinated Multi-Point Transmission</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Young-Su%20Ryu">Young-Su Ryu</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Su-Hyun%20Jung"> Su-Hyun Jung</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Myoung-Jin%20Kim"> Myoung-Jin Kim</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Hyoung-Kyu%20Song"> Hyoung-Kyu Song</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this paper, improved performance scheme for joint transmission is proposed in downlink (DL) coordinated multi-point(CoMP) in case of constraint transmission power. In fact, we can observe that while increase dust layer density the wavelength transmission value decrease, there is a relationship between the density and wavelength value which can be absorbed in a dusty photovoltaic panel. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=dust%20effect" title="dust effect">dust effect</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=photovoltaic%20module" title=" photovoltaic module"> photovoltaic module</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=spectral%20absorption" title=" spectral absorption"> spectral absorption</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=wavelength%20transmission" title=" wavelength transmission"> wavelength transmission</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30291/particle-dust-layer-density-and-the-optical-wavelength-absorption-relationship-in-photovoltaic-module" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/30291.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">463</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3027</span> Research on Transmission Parameters Determination Method Based on Dynamic Characteristic Analysis</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Baoshan%20Huang">Baoshan Huang</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Fanbiao%20Bao"> Fanbiao Bao</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Bing%20Li"> Bing Li</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Lianghua%20Zeng"> Lianghua Zeng</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Yi%20Zheng"> Yi Zheng</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> Parameter control strategy based on statistical characteristics can analyze the choice of the transmission ratio of an automobile transmission. An anomalous HRTEM Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) exhibited a central scatter of diffraction spots, which is surrounded by secondary clusters of spots arranged in a hexagonal pattern around the central cluster was observed. FFT analysis has revealed a long lattice parameter and mostly viewed along a hexagonal axis where there many columns of atoms slightly displaced from one another. This FFT analysis has revealed that the metal sulfide has a long-range order interwoven chain of atoms in its crystal structure. The observed crystalline structure is inconsistent with commonly observed FFT patterns of chemically synthesized Tin Sulfide nanocrystals and thin films. SEM analysis showed the morphology of a myriad of multi-shaped crystals ranging from hexagonal, cubic, and spherical micro to nanostructured crystals. X-ray diffraction studies showed the formation of monophasic and highly crystalline cubic NiO. TEM analysis led to decrease the average grain size of NiO nanoparticles from 16.5 nm to 14 nm on increasing the amount of NaOH. FTIR studies also confirm the formation of NiO nanoparticles. It was observed that on increasing the volume of NaOH, the optical band gap energy (2.85 eV to 2.95 eV) and specific surface area (33.1 to 39.8 m2/g) increases, however the average particles size decreases (16.5 nm to 14 nm). The silver nanoparticles "Ag NPs" were synthesized by reducing AgNO3 with microwaves. The characterization of nanoparticles was done by using Transmission Electron Microscopy " TEM ", Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy "EDS", Selected Area Electron Diffraction "SEAD", UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Dynamic Light Scattering "DLS". Transmission Electron Microscopy and Electron Diffraction have confirmed the nanoscale, the shape, and the crystalline quality of as synthesized silver nanoparticles. Elementary analysis has proved the purity of Ag NPs and the presence of the Surface Plasmon Resonance phenomenon "SPR". A strong absorption shift was observed in the visible range of the UV-visible spectrum of as synthesized Ag NPs, which indicates the presence of metallic silver. When the strong absorption in the ultraviolet range of the spectrum has revealed the presence of ionic Ag NPs ionic Ag aggregates species. The autocorrelation function measured by the Dynamic Light Scattering has shown a strong monodispersed character of Ag NPs, which is indicated by the presence of a single size population, with a minima and a maxima laying between 40 and 111 nm. Related to other research, our results confirm the performance properties of as synthesized Ag NPs, which allows them to be performing in many technological applications, including therapeutic and environmental ones. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=silvers%20nanoparticles" title="silvers nanoparticles">silvers nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=microwaves" title=" microwaves"> microwaves</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=EDS" title=" EDS"> EDS</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=TEM" title=" TEM"> TEM</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146054/elaboration-and-characterization-of-silver-nanoparticles-for-therapeutic-and-environmental-applications" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/146054.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">147</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3022</span> Gate Voltage Controlled Humidity Sensing Using MOSFET of VO2 Particles</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20A.%20Akande">A. It is a nanocrystalline material. It occurs naturally in different sediments, soil systems and also found in the core of ferritin, an iron storage protien. This material can also be synthesized by suitable chemical methods in laboratories. This is known as less crystalline Iron (III) Oxyhydroxide. Due to its poor crystallinity, there are very broad peaks in x-ray diffraction. Depending on the number of peaks in x-ray diffraction pattern, it is classified as two lines and six lines ferrihydrite. The average crystallite size for these two forms is found to be about 2nm to 5nm. The exact crystal structure of this system is still under debate. Out of these two forms, the six lines ferrihydrite is more ordered in comparison to two lines ferrihydrite. The magnetic behavior of two lines ferrihydrite nanoparticles is somewhat well studied. But the magnetic behavior of six lines ferrihydrite nanoparticles could not attract the attention of researchers much. This motivated us to work on the magnetic properties of six lines ferrihydrite nanoparticles. In this work, we present synthesis, structural characterization and magnetic behavior of 5 nm six lines ferrihydrite nanoparticles. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscope are used for structural characterization of this system. Magnetization measurements are performed to fit the data at different temperatures. Then the effect of magnetic moment distribution is also found. All these observations are discussed in detail. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticles" title="nanoparticles">nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetism" title=" magnetism"> magnetism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=superparamagnetism" title=" superparamagnetism"> superparamagnetism</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=magnetic%20anisotropy" title=" magnetic anisotropy"> magnetic anisotropy</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59175/synthesis-and-magnetic-properties-of-six-lines-ferrihydrite-nanoparticles" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/59175.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">338</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3019</span> Enhancement of the Performance of Al-Qatraneh 33-kV Transmission Line Using STATCOM: A Case Study</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ali%20Hamad">Ali Hamad</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ibrahim%20Al-Drous"> Ibrahim Al-Drous</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Saleh%20Al-Jufout"> Saleh Al-Jufout</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> This paper presents a case study of using STATCOM to enhance the performance of Al-Qatraneh 33-kV transmission line. However, their presence in bone is in the form of nanometric needles 60 nm in length with a non-stoichiometric phase of apatite contains CO3-2, Na+, OH-, F-, and other ions in a matrix of collagen fibers. The crystal size, morphology control and interaction with cells are essential for the development of nanotechnology. The structural results of calcium phosphate, synthesized by chemical precipitation with crystal size of 22.85 nm are presented in this paper. The calcium phosphate powders were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), infrared spectroscopy and FT-IR transmission electron microscopy. Network parameters, atomic positions, the indexing of the planes and the calculation of FWHM (full width at half maximum) were obtained. The crystal size was also calculated using the Scherer equation d (hkl) = cλ/βcosѲ. Where c is a constant related to the shape of the crystal, the wavelength of the radiation used for a copper anode is 1.54060Å, Ѳ is the Bragg diffraction angle, and β is the width average peak height of greater intensity. Diffraction pattern corresponding to the calcium phosphate called hydroxyapatite phase of a hexagonal crystal system was obtained. It belongs to the space group P63m with lattice parameters a = 9.4394 Å and c = 6.8861 Å. The most intense peak is obtained 2Ѳ = 31.55 (FWHM = 0.4798), with a preferred orientation in 121. The intensity difference between the experimental data and the calculated values is attributable to the temperature at which the sintering was performed. The intensity of the highest peak is at angle 2Ѳ = 32.11. The structure of calcium phosphate obtained was a hexagonal configuration. The intensity changes in the peaks of the diffraction pattern, in the lattice parameters at the corners, indicating the possible presence of a dopant. That each calcium atom is surrounded by a tetrahedron of oxygen and hydrogen was observed by infrared spectra. The unit cell pattern corresponds to hydroxyapatite and transmission electron microscopic crystal morphology corresponding to the hexagonal phase with a preferential growth along the c-plane was obtained. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=structure" title="structure">structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=nanoparticles" title=" nanoparticles"> nanoparticles</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=calcium%20phosphate" title=" calcium phosphate"> calcium phosphate</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=metallurgical%20and%20materials%20engineering" title=" metallurgical and materials engineering"> metallurgical and materials engineering</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14287/determination-of-the-structural-parameters-of-calcium-phosphate-for-biomedical-use" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/14287.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">504</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3017</span> Performance Analysis of Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser and Distributed Feedback Laser for Community Access Television</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ashima%20Rai">Ashima Rai</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> CATV transmission systems have altered from old cable based one-way analog video transmission to two ways hybrid fiber transmission. The transmission expansion planning problem formulates an optimization problem that minimizes the total cost that includes the investment cost to convert lines from HVAC to HVDC and possible required reinforcements of the power system prior to the conversion. The costs analysis assesses the impact of the conversion on the reliability because transmission lines are out of service during the conversion work. This will encumber the performance of transmission system to efficiently transmit the electrical power between areas. For that reason, accurate assessment of Transmission Reliability Margin (TRM) is essential in order to ensure effective power transfer between areas during the occurrence of system uncertainties. The power transfer is also called as the Available Transfer Capability (ATC) in which it is the information required by the utilities and marketers to instigate selling and buying the electric energy. This paper proposes a computationally effective approach to estimate TRM and ATC by considering the uncertainties of system cascading collapse and transmission line outages which is identified as the main reasons in power system instability. In accordance to the results that have been obtained, the proposed method is essential for the transmission providers which could help the power marketers and planning sectors in the operation and reserving transmission services based on the ATC calculated. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=system%20cascading%20collapse" title="system cascading collapse">system cascading collapse</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20line%20outages" title=" transmission line outages"> transmission line outages</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20reliability%20margin" title=" transmission reliability margin"> transmission reliability margin</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=available%20transfer%20capability" title=" available transfer capability"> available transfer capability</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4349/the-impact-of-system-cascading-collapse-and-transmission-line-outages-to-the-transfer-capability-assessment" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/4349.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">426</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3011</span> Determination of the Optimal DG PV Interconnection Location Using Losses and Voltage Regulation as Assessment Indicators Case Study: ECG 33 kV Sub-Transmission Network </h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Ekow%20A.%20Kwofie">Ekow A. As ECG begins to encourage DG PV interconnections within its network, there has been the need to assess the impacts on the sub-transmission losses and voltage contribution. In Tema, a city in Accra - Ghana, ECG has a 33 kV sub-transmission network made up of 20 No. 33 kV buses that was modeled. Three different locations were chosen: The source bus, a bus along the sub-transmission radial network and a bus at the tail end to determine the optimal location for DG PV interconnection. The optimal location was determined based on sub-transmission technical losses and voltage impact. PV capacities at different penetration levels were modeled at each location and simulations performed to determine the optimal PV penetration level. Interconnection at a bus along (or in the middle of) the sub-transmission network offered the highest benefits at an optimal PV penetration level of 80%. At that location, the maximum voltage improvement of 0.789% on the neighboring 33 kV buses and maximum loss reduction of 6.033% over the base case scenario were recorded. Hence, the optimal location for DG PV integration within the 33 kV sub-transmission utility network is at a bus along the sub-transmission radial network. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=distributed%20generation%20photovoltaic%20%28DG%20PV%29" title="distributed generation photovoltaic (DG PV)">distributed generation photovoltaic (DG PV)</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=optimal%20location" title=" optimal location"> optimal location</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=penetration%20level" title=" penetration level"> penetration level</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=sub%E2%80%93transmission%20network" title=" sub–transmission network"> sub–transmission network</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57038/determination-of-the-optimal-dg-pv-interconnection-location-using-losses-and-voltage-regulation-as-assessment-indicators-case-study-ecg-33-kv-sub-transmission-network" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/57038.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">349</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3010</span> Transient Voltage Distribution on the Single Phase Transmission Line under Short Circuit Fault Effect</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=A.%20Kojah">A. Transient conditions such as switching operations and short circuit faults cause the generation of the fluctuation on the waveform to be transmitted. Spatial voltage distribution on the single phase transmission line may change owing to the position and duration of the short circuit fault in the system. In this paper, the state space representation of the single phase transmission line for short circuit fault and for various types of terminations is given. Since the transmission line is modeled in time domain using distributed parametric elements, the mathematical representation of the event is given in state space (time domain) differential equation form. It also makes easy to solve the problem because of the time and space dependent characteristics of the voltage variations on the distributed parametrically modeled transmission line. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=energy%20transmission" title="energy transmission">energy transmission</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient%20effects" title=" transient effects"> transient effects</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transmission%20line" title=" transmission line"> transmission line</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=transient%20voltage" title=" transient voltage"> transient voltage</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=RLC%20short%20circuit" title=" RLC short circuit"> RLC short circuit</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=single%20phase" title=" single phase"> single phase</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86007/transient-voltage-distribution-on-the-single-phase-transmission-line-under-short-circuit-fault-effect" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/86007.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">223</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3009</span> X-Ray Diffraction and Mӧssbauer Studies of Nanostructured Ni45Al45Fe10 Powders Elaborated by Mechanical Alloying</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=N.%20Ammouchi">N. X-ray diffraction, air annealing furnace, differential scanning calorimetry, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy have been applied on different quartz types outcropping from surface and bed rocks at the Kubi Gold Mining to reveal the material properties at different temperatures. From the diffraction results of the fresh and annealed quartz samples, we find that the samples contain pathfinder and the impurity minerals FeS₂, biotite, TiO₂, and magnetite. These minerals, under oxidation process between 574-1400 °C temperatures experienced hematite alterations and a transformation from α-quartz to β-quartz and further to cristobalite as observed from the calorimetry scans for hydrothermally exposed materials. The energy dispersive spectroscopy revealed elemental species of Fe, S, Mg, K, Al, Ti, Na, Si, O, and Ca contained in the samples and these are attributed to the impurity phase minerals observed in the diffraction. The findings also suggest that during the hydrothermal flow regime, impurity minerals and metals can be trapped by voids and faults. Under favorable temperature conditions the trapped minerals can be altered to change color at different depositional stages by oxidation and reduction processes leading to hematite alteration which is a useful pathfinder in mineral exploration. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=quartz" title="quartz">quartz</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hydrothermal" title=" hydrothermal"> hydrothermal</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=minerals" title=" minerals"> minerals</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=hematite" title=" hematite"> hematite</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=x-ray%20diffraction" title=" x-ray diffraction"> x-ray diffraction</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=crystal-structure" title=" crystal-structure"> crystal-structure</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=defects" title=" defects"> defects</a> </p> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158122/physio-thermal-and-geochemical-behavior-and-alteration-of-the-au-pathfinder-gangue-hydrothermal-quartz-at-the-kubi-gold-ore-deposits" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">Procedia</a> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/158122.pdf" target="_blank" class="btn btn-primary btn-sm">PDF</a> <span class="bg-info text-light px-1 py-1 float-right rounded"> Downloads <span class="badge badge-light">96</span> </span> </div> </div> <div class="card paper-listing mb-3 mt-3"> <h5 class="card-header" style="font-size:.9rem"><span class="badge badge-info">3006</span> Volatility Transmission between Oil Price and Stock Return of Emerging and Developed Countries</h5> <div class="card-body"> <p class="card-text"><strong>Authors:</strong> <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Algia%20Hammami">Algia Hammami</a>, <a href="https://publications.waset.org/abstracts/search?q=Abdelfatteh%20Bouri"> Abdelfatteh Bouri</a> </p> <p class="card-text"><strong>Abstract:</strong></p> In this work, our objective is to study the transmission of volatility between oil and stock markets in developed (USA, Germany, Italy, France and Japan) and emerging countries (Tunisia, Thailand, Brazil, Argentina, and Jordan) for the period 1998-2015. Our methodology consists of analyzing the monthly data by the GARCH-BEKK model to capture the effect in terms of volatility in the variation of the oil price on the different stock market. The empirical results in the emerging countries indicate that the relationships are unidirectional from the stock market to the oil market. For the developed countries, we find that the transmission of volatility is unidirectional from the oil market to stock market. For the USA and Italy, we find no transmission between the two markets. The transmission is bi-directional only in Thailand. Following our estimates, we also noticed that the emerging countries influence almost the same extent as the developed countries, while at the transmission of volatility there a bid difference. The GARCH-BEKK model is more effective than the others versions to minimize the risk of an oil-stock portfolio. <p class="card-text"><strong>Keywords:</strong> <a
