은행나무는 높이 34.5m, 몸통 둘레는 16.9m에 이르며, 수령이 800살이 넘는 것으로 추산된다. 해마다 단풍이 절정을 이루는 10월 말부터 11월 초쯤엔 아파트 12층 높이에 해당하는 은행나무가 이 일대를 황금빛으로 물들이는 모습을 감상하기 위해 수많은 방문객이 줄을 잇고 있다.</p> <p>반계리 은행나무는 아주 오랜 옛날 어떤 대사가 이곳을 지나가다가 물을 마신 후 가지고 있던 지팡이를 꽂아 놓고 간 것이 자랐다는 이야기가 전해지고 있다. 마을 사람들은 이 나무에 커다란 흰색 뱀이 살고 있다고 믿으면서 신성시해 아무도 손을 대지 않았다고 한다. 또 가을에 이 나무에 단풍이 일시에 들면 다음해에 풍년이 든다는 전설도 있다. 반계리 은행나무는 줄기와 가지가 균형 있게 퍼져 있어 보호되고 있는
