2024</h5> <p><strong>ArcelorMittal’s XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced steel fibres have won the “green award” at the Italian Concrete Technology Awards (ICTA).</strong></p> <p>The ICTA jury awarded WireSolutions with the <em>premio speziale “green award” </em>(green award special prize) on 18 April 2024, in recognition of ArcelorMittal’s commitment to decarbonisation, through the development of our XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced fibres. ArcelorMittal’s low carbon-emissions steel fibres have been developped for concrete reinforcement in industrial flooring, precasting, tunnelling and structural elements and have recently become available in the Italian market.</p> <p>The award was presented to <strong>Alessandra Tonti</strong>, sales manager in Italy for steel fibres, WireSolutions. This award confirms the recent development of WireSolutions, both in the Italian market and in the field of low carbon-emissions steel. While this was the fifth year of the ICTA awards, this year was the first in which WireSolutions decided to participate in Italy, and it was a success! It shows the potential of the Italian market for ArcelorMittal’s XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced steel fibres.</p> <p>ArcelorMittal’s low-carbon emissions steel, sold under the brand XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced, applies to products made via the Electric Arc Furnace route using high levels of scrap steel and 100% renewable energy. </p> <p>By using high levels of scrap steel and renewable electricity, XCarb<sup>®</sup> recycled and renewably produced products have an extremely low CO2 footprint that can be as low as approximately 300kg of CO2 per tonne of finished steel when the metallics are 100% scrap. The electricity used in the steelmaking process is independently verified through the European ‘Guarantee of Origin’ system, certifying that
